today's stargate logistics question of the day is why didn't the sgc hire/poach more people from the diplomatic corps
#especially with the atlantis mission#sga#stargate atlantis#stargate#like seriously the diplomatic corps is literally people good with languages + negotiations + people from wildly different cultures#who as a bonus don't mind being sent to the ass end of nowhere#and plenty of them expect to serve at dangerous and/or remote posts#actually @the sgc where are your social sciences#like sure they've got the anthropologists and probably some archaeologists#but where are your linguists geographers and political scientists/international relations experts#yes i do know that my reasoning here is literally just why they hired weir#but there should be more weirs is my point#what's a nice kid like me doing in a place like this

Headcanons for dating Wally West
Wally West x reader
warnings:
a/n: i was debating whether or not y/n is on the team or not n for this im going for y/n being a regular civilian but now im debating making dating hcs for a hero too 🤭
prompt: anonymous: “But if you're still taking requests (and speaking of fast haha), I would absolutely love if you could do a lil' something about Wally West ♡. I love that track star to bits and we're entering my favorite season ever : spooky season (or autumn for people who aren't chronically online like me). So if you'd be tempted to write some fluff/domestic stuff in autumn with Wally, I would be over the moon! 🦊”
wally is so annoying (in the best way!!)
you aren’t too used to the whole idea of dating a metahuman, every day is like an adventure
and for a speedster? you’d be surprised how hard it is for him to find the time
but he makes time
*doorbell rings*
“you’re twenty minutes late” -you
“in flash-time that’s early” -wally, holding a half-eaten box of chocolates “i got a little hungry”
on his “days off,” you could usually find the two of you on the couch with a variety of snacks scattered across the coffee table and crumbs peppering the cushions and floor
the dog will get them” -wally
“hate to break it to you, but i don’t have a dog” -you
“should i get you a dog?” -wally
he was always so goofy
and affectionate, very affectionate!
he loved to give you cheek and forehead kisses, so many so fast
“how many was that?” -you after noticing repeated pressure on your cheeks
“going on a hundred. i’m trying to beat my record!” -wally
it always ended up tickling and you’d laugh until you fell over
“wally!! wally, come on!!” -you
you’d always get bummed whenever he got called for a mission
especially because it always happened in the middle of something (dinner, a movie, study date, etc.)
then when he came home he’d be a wreck and then you’d be a wreck because you’d see him like that
then he’d have to calm you down and you’d have to help him feel better
“you dont have to do that, im fine! i swear!” -wally while you panic and try to take care of him
being invited to the cave!
meeting the team!
“just because youre meeting a half-kryptonian clone, a martian, an atlantean, some girl with a bow and arrow, and batman’s sidekick doesn’t mean you get to think any of them are cooler than me, kapeesh?” -wally
“oh yes, i know you’re the coolest” -you
the team loves you!!!
“wow, wally, thanks for proving your s/o isn’t imaginary” -artemis
“youre welcome” -wally
“do you want to come bake with me?!” -m’gaan
“please say yes, y/n. i’m so hungry. so so hungry” -wally
“let’s do it!” -you
starting to camp out at the cave while wally is on missions
also once some more dangerous people figured out wally’s identity, you got your own access code to the cave. EMERGENCIES ONLY
you used it to surprise wally once and got a stern talking to from batman. never again
you dont really spend too much time with the team, but you get invited to most of their friendly outings!
and you talk up a storm with the others trying to learn about their lives, which sometimes makes wally a liiiittle jealous
but you want to live vicariously through these interesting people bc ur life is a liiiittle boring
“can you tell me what atlantis is like? what it feels like to be underwater and how your fighting style differs on land?” “what’s your favorite dish to make on mars? do you like communicating this way or the telepathic way more?” “why do you always wear sunglasses, man?” (you know this one dick is like wally’s bestie) -all you
seeing wally less than usual when things start to heat up in his hero life :(
causes some strain and you get so so sad :(
but he always calls you when he can and tries to make up for it
and somewhere down the road when he retires you’re able to spend all your time with him and he makes up for lost time like he promised
ok i’ll stop there. happily ever after.

DIANA PRINCE | WONDER WOMAN (the flashpoint paradox)
—
“The Messenger Bird Sings” (Diana Prince x Fem!Reader)
| Infiltrating Themyscira to save a resistance member is a disaster. But it leads to unexpected consequences when the Queen captures you.
| SFW, open ending, infatuated!reader, (TW: captured!reader, spoils of war, unfettered murder), -dark!wonder woman
| pics via: Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox animated movie
| Here’s a link to the scene this is based on. The words/dialogue that are mine are mine and the words that are from the movie are not mine.
| 2k+ words
Sneaking around New Themyscira is a feat you didn’t think you’d ever experience but, lo and behold, here you were.
The island was beautiful in a way that reminded you of what used to be. It’s battle torn, but the skies are still bright blue and the air’s still unnaturally fresh and fizzling with magic.
Even if it’s not the same as you're sure it’d be on the original “Paradise Island”, the residual effect of the Amazon’s whimsy sticks to the place like it was fated to be. Like their magic lays as much claim over this part of what used to be Europe as they do.
It’s a drastic contrast to the wreckage all around you all.
“Alright crew, we meet back at the ship by dusk. This is an evidence gathering retreat and extraction mission so stay out of sight and do not engage.” Steve’s command stays quiet through coms even as he shifts to giving out individual instructions next. His voice a steady balm that you lock onto to distract you enough you don’t have to keep biting back your grin.
─────
It’s hours before anything worthwhile than ducking and hiding takes place.
Initially Steve’s group was primarily tasked with direct extraction of Lois Lane from behind enemy lines but you had run into her, and a small number of other survivors hiding in the nature reclaimed remains of what used to be London, first.
Your branch-off specifically is just meant to be gathering enough tangible evidence that the Amazon’s are taking human hostages to finally push the last remaining world leader to actually let Steve’s task force move in to save them.
Years ago you’d thought politics was hard to navigate. Now it was a literal minefield, one wrong move and someone would take off your head.
You’re hoping at the very least your wrong move doesn’t happen here.
The Amazons were brutal. What little clear footage that still remained showed their killing prowess off well. They didn’t level cities the way the Atlanteans did, but at the beginning of all this they’d conquered their way across the Mediterranean in less than a week and no one had even noticed.
The Atlanteans were too loud, even put up against the Amazons brutality and true disdain for humanity. Especially men. Atlantis had taken over the European Coast with brute force and luck that their extremely obvious assault couldn’t be stopped by any human forces.
If the human world had been anywhere near as technologically advanced and superhuman you’re sure that Atlantis would’ve fallen that day. King Arthur had put all of his forces, after the Amazon’s had near silently ran them off, into conquering Europe’s waters but he’d made a gamble in doing so.
The Amazon’s didn’t gamble.
Call it years of godly military practice coming into play or whatever but the Amazon’s were a strategic power house. They blew through everything they wanted to as if it was parchment paper in a way that the Atlanteans and their ‘throw everything at it until it sticks’ strategy could never.
The Queen didn’t take whatever she wanted, the rumored start of the war in the first place, because she was careless.
“Pilgrim to Mayflower, we’ve been caught in an ambush—”
Your radio crackles to life on your hip. You turn to your team leader but she only shakes her head. She gestures for you all to get closer together. She’s following protocol, if you have to leave team ‘Pilgrim’ behind you have to wait in silence five minutes before doing so, but if you get a response in that period you have to call in for backup.
Beside you Lois’s quiet as she stares at the radio in Boston’s hand, lip between her teeth.
The following crackle three and a half minutes in makes you all jump.
“—it’s The Queen. The Queen’s with them!”
This time it’s not Steve’s voice but a woman from his group. The air rushes from your lungs.
Queen Diana of Themyscira wasn’t careless.
Something presses down on the receiver and the sounds of screaming and gunfire reach your ears. Right behind it cheers of triumph follow.
All distinctly feminine sounding.
The Queen took what she wanted without hesitation because she was self assured in her prowess.
“Dammit to hell,” Boston curses.
Your heart feels tight all of a sudden.
The Queen.
The same one who started a whole world war because she didn’t bow down to such pitiful quirks as apologizing. The Queen who allegedly wore the crown of the woman she killed as a trophy.
When that exact crown, Atlantean in nature, crests over a row of rubble from toppled buildings towards you the sight of that golden headrest becomes an omen.
The Amazon’s are ruthless when they reach you. There’s barely a triumphant yell afterwards the fight was so close to already won once it started. In fact it’d probably be an insult to the Goddess Artemis herself to call it a fight at all.
A mild squabble maybe.
Like a kitten might give a gangly boy throwing her into a box to slowly meet its death. Or the inevitable but hopeless life of a fly when around a flytrap.
The Amazon’s had gained on you too fast for women who were supposed to be on the other side of the island right now.
As you’re thrown into the middle of a circle of stern-faced Amazon’s with your team, knocking right into Steve and his remaining crew, you start to feel a lot like a fly trapped because of its need to further inspect a predator so unequivocally greater than itself.
Your eyes prickle and your breath squeezes past your throat, but as you watch the towering few women around you your heart thuds not with fear but revelation.
In person the Amazon’s were every bit as terrifying as the stories and mission reports made them out to be, then some. Their armor was chinked and dusted with the brutal effects of war and yet they still seemed to glow brighter than the overcast sun as they set their ire upon you.
It was a lesson in skill to be present for the way they fought up close. Every strike and simple step was so clearly packed full with power and yet they moved as one graceful unit, where one woman leaned right two more would work to balance back out the open circle till closed again like feathers in the wind.
They were seamless even as they taunted Steve, held in The Queen’s lasso as he was. The center of everyone’s attention.
Something shamefully akin to envy prods at you incessantly. You do your best to ignore it.
Your fists clench and unclench at your side as you watch the warriors playing with their food. Lois looks like she can’t decide whether to throw up or throw something. For the sake of all your lives you pray she only vomits.
“You’re all Americans,” Queen Diana points out before tightening her hold on the lasso. Steve is forced to rise up on his knees at the movement, hands going to his throat in a fruitless effort to pry off the rope choking him. “But you’re going to tell me a little more about yourself. Who are you and what is your group’s goal?”
For a few seconds you all watch as Steve just…doesn’t answer. Your eyes narrow. Maybe the rumors about The Queen’s lasso were actually just rumors this time around, you’re pretty sure a gift from the gods isn’t supposed to have user defects.
The other Amazon’s seem to think the same thing as five of them huddle closer to their leader and soft murmurs travel around you from the ones that remain vigil.
“He’s resisting the lasso of truth! How is that possible Queen Diana?”
The Queen looks offended, jaw tightening.
“It’s not,” she says before wrapping more of the lasso around her hand and pulling Steve up so they’re face to face, his toes dragging in the dirt. “Who are you and what are you and your people doing in New Themyscira?”
You all gasp. Off to the side Boston starts to struggle, cursing up a storm as Steve truly goes red in the face. You can’t not watch her a bit impassioned, you know what’ll happen next. One Amazon, red haired and incredibly angry looking, kicks her in the face so hard that by the time her body falls to the dirt you can all tell she’s dead. Face crunched to all hell as her lifeless body faces you.
You shiver and look away.
“This is an outrage,” Lois murmurs.
You don’t argue in any direction with her, just turn back to The Queen.
“Thank you for shutting her up, Artemis. Now back to you, I believe I asked you a question.”
Steve can barely put up a token protest, still actively choking, before he starts to spill everything.
“My name is Colonel Steve Trevor of the United States Special Forces. Me and my team, the second of which was headed by the woman you just killed, Colonel Boston Knight, were tasked with gathering information about your base and with the retrieval of Lois Lane.”
The Queen’s brows furrow, “Who is this Lois Lane?”
You close your eyes. You can feel the very woman stiffen where she’s crouched next to you. Your next breath in feels too much like a hiccup.
“Lois Lane is a Politzer prize winning journalist who has been embedded in New Themyscira to gather intel on your Amazons for Cyborg. She’s…she’s also one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever met.”
Steve struggles, doing his best to clamp down on his jaw before some invisible force pries it back open and one of his trembling hands flick out to point. “And she’s over there.”
All eyes seem to shift to the woman no less than a foot away from you.
The Queen looks over at her with a haughty air as she takes in the new information.
“‘Most beautiful’ until me, that is,” she states while lowering him.
You're mesmerized as the glow of the lasso fades while she dismisses you all once again. The Queen’s attention quickly shifts to a blonde Amazon who nods and begins speaking immediately.
“Our information was correct, then, My Queen. Cyborg is amassing the outside world’s superhumans in an attempt to interfere in our war.”
“And he will fail,” her voice echoes across their foggy battlefield with surety. Wonder Woman scowls. “Now seize the Lane woman and take her back to our sanctum.”
“Yes, My Queen,” the blonde speaks up again as all the others quickly nod their assent.
Lois puts up a huge struggle, kicking out at a woman and briefly causing her to stumble before three more are on her. It takes a couple seconds before she stops, limbs twisted every which way as she’s held before the Queen’s unforgiving gaze.
She looks distinctly unimpressed as she and Lois stare down one another. The reporter definitely lived up to her reputation at least. Unfortunately so did Queen Diana.
“Go. I will deal with her later.”
They take Lois away and all you can do is watch.
The Queen glances over all of you again as the blonde waves the women off and then turns to Queen Diana with a wave in Steve’s direction.
“May I deal with this prisoner for you?”
She takes barely a second to decide.
“No, Persephone. The Queen of the Amazons is a servant to her people,” she rises then, taking Steve up with her and letting him dangle from the ropes. His gagging makes you curl in on yourself, “nothing is beneath her,” Queen Diana finishes as Steve takes his final struggling breaths.
The blood vessels on his face pop at the relentless pressure put on them as The Queen stares on impassively. The remaining Amazons cheer and the woman seems to bask in their praise.
“You must remember that this is a win for all of us!” Her exclamation is met with more cheers as she dangles Steve’s lifeless body through the air like a marionette.
“May the gods continue to look down favorably upon the daughters of Themyscira!” That cheer, from a dark skinned Amazon with snowy white hair, gets even Queen Diana calling out in excitement.
Their voices thunder around you all and in all your years both as black and as a woman you have never been made to feel so small as you do till now.
Like this, however, that feeling of absolute insignificance was damningly heady.
In the very next moment The Queen’s sharp gaze seems to snap to you and the skant air you’ve managed to gain seems to flee from your lungs in terror.
“Exactly sisters! And for that the fates of the spoils of our hunt today shall be decided by you!” She bows in mid air. “A gift from your ever faithful Queen.”
Seems the celebration won’t be stopping anytime soon then. You glance around at your teammates and see matching fear welling in their eyes.
Some of the people the Amazons choose are killed instantly and with gusto, others tossed between two of them like nothing as they’re tortured, some are even dragged away for who knows what, but you?
You’re left untouched.
Shaking you watch as everyone is picked off one by one around you and how in the rush The Queen's gaze still manages to stay locked on your form.
You’re watching her back with wide, nearly star struck eyes when she finally starts towards you. Your blood goes cold as she descends, carelessly dropping Steve in the process, before that damned lasso gets thrown around your body.
“Now you see that is a face of admiration!” She hoists you up into the air and your stomach drops. “Now tell me your truth, little human.”
“You’re…ethereal,” comes tumbling past your lips before you can hope to stop it.
The woman looks back at you in mild surprise before her laughter fills your ears.
“Of course I am.” She shifts you in her grip while motioning for the Amazons to move, hovering with you above them as they march back to their sanctuary.
You wonder if its location was one of the things Lois was going to share with you.
You were willing to bet it was too late to find out now.
─────
When you get back to the Queen’s new castle you feel like where they were hiding when they weren’t fighting should’ve been pretty obvious.
It was literally the former royal palace.
You walk in and can tell instantly that while some form of a fight must have occurred within the walls, the palace itself looked in otherwise perfect shape.
While most of the other Amazons that came with you disperse, some stay to debrief the Queen as she takes you along to the throne room.
At the entrance you’re met with a set of Amazons. Swiftly, they bow to their leader before opening the doors for her.
As you get a look inside your brows raise.
The throne that sits at the end of the velvet walkway is singular, first of all, and a lot bigger and more ornate than anything the British could’ve ever scrounged up. It makes even you impressed.
Queen Diana sits in it with all the air of a woman who knows without a moment of uncertainty that little can harm her.
In the following seconds she moves you to join her too, and you flush hard enough for a slight red hue to tint the deep brown of your cheeks.
The binding along your arms and midsection is so strong that you don’t even bother attempting to wiggle loose as you’re made to sit on the Amazon’s lap.
She’s completely self assured as she discusses her next steps with her council, and it makes you feel hopeless the way they blow off the US’s push back efforts as nothing. Easily solvable.
And all while you’re sitting on her lap like a trophy.
Eventually she dismisses everyone but the guards at the door and you're as alone as you’ll get.
You swallow thickly, glancing up at her through your lashes.
It’s a last ditch attempt but you try it anyway.
“If you kill me it’ll be all the US needs to join the war and deploy their forces.”
She looks down at you with a subtle raise of a brow.
“It’s adorable that you think you can scare me,” The Queen says. “Your government is so pathetic they jump at their own shadow. What threat could they ever possibly be to me when they can barely handle the problems within their own borders?”
She laughs, a boisterous sound that you feel just as much as you hear, and you’re unintentionally shaken in her hold. You knew it was a long shot but damn. She didn’t just shoot your idea down, she busted a fucking gut at it. You pout.
Yeah, you were screwed.
The Queen looked fucking unreal when she laughed though; you were a little winded.
NOTES: Hope you enjoyed!!! I love dark!WW, and she was too good looking in the Flash Point animation style; fourteen year old me literally couldn’t handle it.
Also— boy, has this one been in the works for a hot ass minute, but at least now it’s finally out.
In general, though, I’m trying to get out fics with more of The Trinity as a focus that aren’t just Batman fics. So yeah.
btw: if you’d like to leave a comment I’d very much appreciate it!

Comrade Namor
He teams up with Bruce Banner and most of his alters on an explicit mission to destroy capitalism, starting off by bankrupting the too big to fail Roxxon Corporation (whose CEO is a literal minotaur FYI, the shit kind.) 'Humans' as referred to there is about the destructiveness and unsustainability of how we treat the planet and each other. It's not a genetically loaded term here. Also, he just cooked Bruce a clam chowder. It's nice to look after our friends.
This is an in universe advert from the 90s where he declares war on any company that doesn't respect the planet, AKA all of them. Interestingly he uses inverted Marxist language to threaten from a position of strength - 'the oceans themselves as capital' is so huge a concept. No doubt he was pushing the limits of what critique capitalism can subsume into itself.
It's also strategically fascinating, IMO. Declaring war on countries is a historical Namor tactic with no winners. Corporations have no sovereignty to protect, no allies to call on, and you can't lobby for tariffs on Atlantis.
Except they may as well, because as ever, Marvel presents a liberal fantasy of human improvement and progressiveness. Corporations do what they do with the aid and permission of states, and neoliberalism can't exist without the free market. Marvel itself is profit-first and will never take any action that hinders that (intentionally) - but they will present the 'illusion of change' especially if the message itself is profitable to publish. I'm not saying anything new here, of course, but I think it'd be intellectually dishonest to not point out that the desired and eternal status quo isn't just restricted to the pages.
BEE TEE DUBS, if you haven't read Immortal Hulk, it's amazing. Al Ewing is a master and really pushes the limits of what comics can do, plus the Hulk says trans rights and fuck capitalism!

Types of Starseed
There are a great many different types of starseed, but some of the most commonly-identified include:
Pleiadian
Originating from the Pleiades star cluster, Pleiadian starseeds are loving, intuitive, empathetic, creative, and sensitive individuals who have a mission to bring peace and spirituality to Earth. They are some of the oldest souls, and are among the more common starseed types. They are therefore also one of the best understood. Pleiadian starseeds have a special connection to the Divine Feminine and Akashic records.
Sirian
Originating from Sirius, one of the most important stars to play a role in spiritual awakening, Sirian starseeds are peacekeepers and guardians: bold, strong-willed, and passionate beings with a strong sense of responsibility and leadership. They often exhibit a focus on technology, innovation, and spiritual teaching.
Orion
Hailing from the Orion constellation, Orion starseeds are said to be insightful, analytical, and committed to justice and wisdom. They are attuned to ancient wisdom, which often manifests as an entrepreneurial or scientific spirit! Orion starseeds work to overcome challenges, and are therefore seen as “warriors for the light”.
Andromedan
Coming from the Andromeda galaxy (often thought to be home to various extraterrestrial civilisations), Andromedan starseeds are said to be wise beyond their years and have a strong sense of justice. They are creative and innovative, and tend to have a strong calling to bring new ideas and technologies to Earth.
Lyran
Originating from the Lyra constellation, Lyran starseeds are said to be the oldest souls in the galaxy, and are creative and excellent communicators. Sometimes depicted as being the ancestors of humans, Lyrans may have a stronger than usual connection to the Earth (especially to Egypt: one of their closest links to home) and a desire to heal and uplift. Lyran starseeds have a special connection to the Divine Masculine.
Arcturian
All the way from Arcturus (said to be home to highly evolved and spiritually advanced beings from a 5th dimension), Arcturian starseeds possess profound and innovative qualities of wisdom and healing, and a strong desire to help others awaken spiritually. They often feel more comfortable in their human forms than other starseeds.
Venusian
As you’d expect, Venusian starseeds are from Venus, and are compassionate, loving, gentle, and artistic. They have a great interest in the ancient civilisations of Earth, as well as outer space. The ancient Egyptian goddess of love and motherhood, Hathor, is thought to have come from Venus in the fourth dimension.
Lemurian
Ancient souls originating from Lemuria, Lemurian starseeds (and Atlantean starseeds) are believed to have made Earth their home sooner than any other type. They are said to be healers and teachers, and keepers of ancient wisdom. Although the defunct civilisation of Lemuria was on Earth (before its downfall at the hands of dark reptilians), its people were advanced enough to communicate with and travel to other planets.
Atlantean
Ancient souls from Atlantis, Atlantean starseeds are truth seekers and are technologically adept. Like Lemurian starseeds, Atlanteans starseeds no longer have a physical territory on Earth, as their ancestors abused their success until they were destroyed. However, those who survived their realm’s downfall had often travelled to other planets or dimensions, so can return to Earth as starseeds.
Indigo Children
Younger souls that are here to lead others into a new age, Indigo Children are independent, strong-willed, and disruptive to outdated systems. They are agents of peace and justice, and have no tolerance for evil. Indigo Children are often born with memories of their divine gifts, qualities, and mission intact, and come from a spiritual dimension of Earth that hasn’t yet finished ascending.
Illustration of a girl sitting in the middle of a large glade of magical flowers looking into infinity.
Crystal Children
Often grouped with Indigo Children, Crystal Children share the former’s mission to usher humanity into a better future. They are natural healers and lovers of nature, and have a strong connection with Pleiadian energy. Crystal Children bring joy, light, and harmony to all that they touch.
Rainbow Children
The third of the starseed types to often be grouped with Indigo Children, Rainbow Children are the youngest souls of all, and are still working to understand their role. Although their awareness of their nature can make them seem a little detached, they excel as healers and teachers, and rarely fall victim to illnesses or health issues.
Lightworkers
A unique type of starseed, Lightworkers aren’t tied to any specific planet, realm or celestial body, and are instead defined by their mission to spread light, love, kindness, and goodness. Their goal is to encourage spiritual evolution, and to help the Earth (and other worlds) to tap into higher frequency information and rise in consciousness.
Mintaken
Hailing from the planet Mintaka that once lay within Orion’s belt, Minkaten starseeds are among the original lightworkers. They’re fascinated by astrology and crystals, and are gifted with extraordinarily strong intuition. Because Mintaken no longer exists, Mintaken starseeds can feel intensely homesick, but often find solace around water.
Feline
Feline starseeds also originate within the Lyran constellation, and can be glimpsed within the cat-like artwork of some ancient civilisations. Feline starseeds are detached from the physical and in tune with the spiritual. They exist in a higher dimension to humans, and often have telepathic or psychic abilities.
Maldek
Just as Lemurian and Atlantean starseeds survived the downfall of their realms on Earth, finding refuge among the stars, Maldek starseeds survived their planet’s destruction. Maldek was a planet in our Solar System that died as a consequence of misusing technological power, and greed. On Earth, Maldek starseeds try to teach humans how to better use technology and other tools to avoid a robotic apocalypse.
Avian
Avian starseeds come from a purely spiritual realm, and journey to Earth to teach humans about metaphysics and spiritual truths. In essence, they serve as spirit guides, showing how a more spiritual life can lead to an advanced civilisation. As their name suggests, Avian starseeds often have bird-like qualities.
Martian
Martian starseeds come from the planet Mars, and seek to connect with the human race and assist with its advancement. The call of Martian starseeds might be why Earth astronomers have always felt a strong pull to Mars. The appearance of Martian starseeds is a mystery, although they tend to feel a connection with water and fire.
Polarian
Among the first spiritual beings to travel from a higher dimension and incarnate in human bodies, Polarian starseeds come from the North Star, Polaris. They are highly empathetic, and are able to feel the Earth’s energies at a very deep level. As a result, they are able to serve as mediators between humans and planet Earth.
Hadarian
Fleeing from Beta Centauri to escape slavery, some Hadarian starseeds settled on Earth and seek to build strong and happy relationships. Shy and introverted, their loving natures can make them susceptible to manipulation, but their past and present struggles can’t dampen their enthusiasm to spread unconditional love.
Reptilian
Shape-shifting, lizard-like starseeds of unknown origins who try to crush humanity’s spiritual enlightenment, Reptilian starseeds rarely have a positive goal. They desire control over humans for their own benefit, and plunge those who they influence into greed and selfishness. They played a part in the destruction of Lemuria and other realms, and are opposed by many of the other starseed types.
Draconian
A type of Reptilian starseed from the constellation Draco, Draconian starseeds seek to unite many people to a common goal, although whether this mission is for good or evil depends on the starseed. Some can be greedy and manipulative leaders, but others are diligent workers who guide awakened humans to accomplish just causes.
Agarthian Beings
Rather than originating offworld, Agarthian Beings actually come from a faery realm within Earth itself, and are therefore deeply connected to the planet. They actively protect the environment, and remember even forgotten Earthly catastrophes like the sinking of Atlantis.
An Introduction to Starseeds:

911 often makes me think about Stargate. It draws on a lot of the same ingredients that made those shows compelling to me, especially the found family team bonds in a setting of constant high stakes danger.
I have this half formed Stargate: Atlantis fusion idea that keeps floating around in my brain, where the 118 is a specialised extraction team whose primary mission is to provide support and rescue to other gate teams in distress. They become informally known as Gate Team 911, which Rodney snarks about since this is allegedly an international mission until John points out 911 is the emergency number in Canada too. And then Teyla wants them to explain exactly how emergency calls work and Elizabeth has to introduce her to Maddie Buckley in communications who actually used to be an emergency dispatcher, and who just so happens to be the sister of team 911's Evan Buckley.
I don't know I don't have much more than the basic concept but I love the idea of the 118 doing basically the same thing they do in this universe except now they're exploring the galaxy while they do it.
#obviously karen is a scientist on this mission#she and zalenka are constantly getting into knock down screaming arguments over their jobs#then they clock out and go play poker together#I haven't precisely figured out what Athena does on this mission but it's something cool#sga#911 abc

Alrighty here's an SGA team-poly-ship WIP that I got a decent start on 3 years ago, but which I know I'm never going to write more for. Little bit of explicit content below the cut!
John/Teyla/Ronon/Rodney, sleeping together and Sleeping Together
Working title: Group
Teyla snored. She insisted she didn’t, but she did.
Rodney was all elbows, and didn’t stop talking and muttering to himself even when he was fast asleep.
Ronon, a little surprisingly, was the worst blanket-thief John had ever met. He was also, less surprisingly, an incurable cuddler.
And John himself… Well, John honestly wasn’t sure what his ‘thing’ was— but for all the snoring and elbow-jabs and sleepy overheating bear hugs, he’d never in his life slept so well as he did with the three of them.
It had all started by accident. On a long away-mission, travelling by foot with the locals to a remote temple of healing that sounded distinctly promising on the Ancient technology front, John’s team had wound up sharing a single large tent every night. Apparently communal sleeping was the norm for that particular society, and Teyla had quietly but sternly warned him that their guides would almost certainly look on them with suspicion if they refused to share. Maybe even refuse to lead them to the temple after all; and something on the planet screwed with the jumper sensors and flight controls too much to try and fly there themselves.
So, they’d very graciously accepted their shared sleeping tent for the approximately week-long journey there and back.
It hadn’t been so bad; a little awkward at first, maybe, but the nights were uncomfortably cold and the extra body heat was far from unwelcome. Plus, it wasn’t like John wasn’t used to bunking down in shared barracks anyway.
The part he’d been much less used to was finding himself in the middle of what amounted to a cuddle pile the next morning. But by the time they got back to the village near the stargate, even waking up in a cozy tangle of limbs had started feeling almost… normal. So normal, in fact, that once they did get back to Atlantis, John hadn’t been able to sleep properly without them anymore.
As it turned out, the feeling was mutual, and… well, one thing eventually led to another.
…
Ronon somehow always managed to wake up first.
John didn’t particularly mind. Especially not on mornings like this one, where he gradually slipped awake to the feeling of a familiar body moving against him and the slow, luxurious recollection that it was their day off and nobody had to get up yet.
Or, get out of bed, more accurately. Seemed some people were definitely getting something up already.
John hummed quietly, shifting sleepily as Ronon’s mouth found his neck, lips soft and wet and smiling against his skin. He could feel the light graze of Ronon’s teeth and the scratchy tickle of his beard as he meandered a slow trail down John’s exposed neck to his bare shoulder, one large, warm hand sliding up John’s leg under the sheets and over his hip.
He could also feel Ronon’s erection, already hard and full, rutting lazily against him from behind while Ronon kept mouthing at him and running that hand teasingly over his stomach, squeezing his hip; just barely brushing past the base of John’s filling cock and away again until John was squirming slowly in place and panting softly for breath. In front of him, Teyla blinked awake, a smile spreading over her face as she watched Ronon pushing the covers down and continuing his lazy trail down John’s body.

Hello my lovely! 😊 I've popped back in with another ask of my random atlantis thoughts as I'm going through my rewatch
Idk if it's ever said outright, but I'm pretty sure Teyla is the first friend John's ever had who's been pregnant. Like, he DOES NOT know what to do with her and he's overly protective (which is very sweet but clearly irritating for Teyla)
Bro is TERRIFIED because she's his family! And her baby is his family!! Especially considering the guilt he feels about losing Elizabeth and Carson, of course he's going to be fiercely protective of her!!😭
Sidenote: Ronon found her exercising and she was worried that she wouldn't be able to "keep up" with the rest of the team once the baby was born if she didn't and his response was literally "Who says you have to keep up?" that just 🥺 Literally saying they're going to take care of her no matter what. They're so family I can't 😭😭
john sheppard is afraid of clowns, iratus bugs, and pregnant women and that is fucking canon to me. that man would rather SCALE THE FUCKING TOWER than be around a pregnant woman and i for one think that's fucking hilarious
ALSO i know it was like. Huge Asshole Energy when john grounded teyla from missions but like. all i can think about is how john places the responsibility to keep his team safe 100% on his own shoulders, and i FULLY believe that his team (which is strongest for AR-1 but obviously extends to the whole city) includes the athosians, and by this point they've gone missing, and i really do think john believes he's to blame for it. i think johns harsh reaction was purely fear based- teyla's baby, who very well could end up being the Last Athosian, is at risk because they got shot by stunners. not only is john feeling the guilt from teyla getting stunned, but he now thinks he's putting her baby at risk. of course he freaks out!!!!!! he JUST found out about torren and in the same breath finds out he might've led teyla into a situation where she could lose her baby???????? anyways this was a lot to say yes john 100% sees teyla and torren as family and is SO overprotective of both of them.
also i'm literally never over teyla and ronon's friendship, i LOVE how ronon pivots between beating the shit out of teyla because he knows she'll give it as good as she gets and being the softest most tender soul with her. like the scene where they find out and he holds her hand and congratulates her and asks about kanan 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 IM GONNA SOB AT WORK THEYRE SO god i fucking love teyla and ronon's friendship it's SO fucking good
also you didn't mention this but i'm incapable of talking about teyla's pregnancy without commenting on how obsessed i am with the fact that rodney is the one who delivered her baby. like. i just. it's everything to me i genuinely think it's my favourite thing to happen in the entire show it was the BEST possible decision for the writers to make and i love it it's my favourite thing and i like to think rodney has a special bond with torren bc of it
thank you for the team feels they're Everything
#i love them#they're So#team feels#ar1#teyla emmagan#john sheppard#ronon dex#rodney mckay#asks#sga#stargate atlantis

Conversion, Pt. 5
While Sheppard is off doing something that appears to take some time but we never find out what it is, Colonel Caldwell visits Weir's office where she appears to be working late. The scene is relevant to what is going on with McKay, especially as Caldwell shares some of his observations with Weir.
Caldwell: You're working late. Weir: No, not really. Caldwell: Yeah. We keep trying to remove that from the terminals on the Daedalus, but somehow the crew keeps finding a way of putting it back. Weir: Never get between a genius and a computer game.
First of all, let us note the fact that Caldwell has dressed up for this late night visit into Weir's office. He is wearing a sweater instead of his usual overalls. There seemed to be some sweet feelings developing between Weir and Colonel Everett after they had warmed up to each other, even though she had been involved with a man on Earth at the time. It could be that Caldwell is intentionally trying to cozy up to Weir here, even though it does not seem like they have any exceptionally warm feelings toward each other, just to get what he wants out of her. But he finds Weir playing Solitaire here, and Solitaire is a lonely man's game. It is also about choices and consequences, a reminder that each choice has ripples down the line that effect the outcome.
Caldwell makes the observation that Weir is working late but instead of working, she is actually playing a game. She also suggests that this is something that geniuses also do, that members of the science corps keep installing games on the Daedalus. Likely they also have the same sets of games on the terminals on Atlantis. Now, obviously we learn about Sheppard and McKay having played "the game" only later on and it is an obvious retcon. We are asked to recontextualize everything preceding the episode The Game (S03E15) in light of the information that Sheppard and McKay have played the game together behind the scenes the whole time. They both call it "our game" because it was their thing, it was what the two of them did together where Sheppard has been running with Ronon and sparring with Teyla. In their own words:
Sheppard: We've been playing for a while now. McKay: Yeah, off and on in our spare time. You know, at night, between missions. I could have sworn we told you about it? Weir: What game? McKay: Well, it started a while ago, a few months after we arrived here.
Sheppard and McKay have been having secret rendezvouses with each other for over two years at night, between missions. They started doing it a few months into their stay on Atlantis. This is main text. And this is why we need to keep an eye on those pockets of time that are left without explanation here and there, where we are clearly shown the passage of time but the activities of Sheppard and McKay are left unaccounted for. Whether you believe they were playing the game or "playing the game," they had spent time with each other where the audience was not invited. Not only are we allowed to think that there was something going on behind the scenes, between the scenes, after the scenes -- we are invited to do so. And so, Weir is up late playing a game and since it is something geniuses also do, McKay may well have been up doing the same thing. And this is important because during this scene between Weir and Caldwell, we have precisely such a pocket of unaccounted for time for both McKay and Sheppard. Sheppard is losing himself but he is not entirely gone yet.
Caldwell, who we know has been hankering for Sheppard's job ever since he had been promised the post by the SGC, had approached Weir to offer his services should they need an interim commander for Atlantis while Sheppard is incapacitated. It is a job for which he is obviously qualified but because Weir does not want the military encroaching on what she sees as her domain, she is reluctant to let him take over. There were several reasons why Weir had picked Sheppard for the position over everyone else (none of which had to do with any quivers in her nethers, just to make it clear). But one of those reasons surely was Sheppard's natural aversion for both wielding and submitting to authority, which meant that while Sheppard might occasionally make calls that she could not support, he would never try to take the command away from her. With Sheppard in charge, the military would always be in a supporting role only. But if Sheppard was incapacitated, there was little she could do when Caldwell outranked Lorne. She tries to evade the issue.
Caldwell: If I need to, I have some time. Weir: OK, let me think about it. Caldwell: Thank you. You got chess on there? Weir: As a matter of fact, I do. Caldwell: Well, I have to warn you that I'm a career military strategist. Weir: Well, I'll have to take my chances.
This is meant as innuendo for the fact that Weir and Caldwell are playing a game already on the political arena, both trying to outmaneuvre the other. Chess is a game of strategy where players take turns in trying to out-think the other. But significant here is the fact that Sheppard is also a career military strategist. There is a genius and a career military strategist that we are later told have been playing a game with one another at night, between missions.
And because we saw Sheppard running with Ronon and sparring with Teyla, the implication here may be that he has been playing a game with McKay during this time, as we next find Sheppard returning to his room from somewhere, where we had previously seen him vacate the infirmary with his hips swinging. It had been daytime when he was sparring with Teyla, and Caldwell had just pointed out that Weir was "working late". It has been less than six hours since he left the infirmary but given that Weir was bored enough to be playing a game in her office, it must also have been more than a while. And we get absolutely no hint as to Sheppard's whereabouts during this time. None.
Now, this is the first time that we get a glimpse of the inside of Sheppard's quarters ever since Home (S01E09). Yes, it has been that long. Teyla had a dream about Sheppard's quarters in The Gift (S01E18), where it seemed as though the interior did not actually match reality, and where the fact that she found only the dead body of Sheppard on his bed may have hinted at the fact that she knew at least on a subconscious level that Sheppard no longer occupied those quarters. We were explicitly told that Sheppard and McKay were looking for new and better quarters in Before I Sleep (S01E15), and given that we saw McKay behind Sheppard's door in Trinity (S02E06), this leaves quite a long time unaccounted for. I have suggested that the fact that we see Sheppard use the transporter as probable means of getting to his quarters since Runner (S02E03), but did not witness him doing this once in the latter half of the first season, suggests that may have been living somewhere else before moving back into his original quarters.
But yes, the last time we saw the interior of his quarters was in Home, when Weir entered to have a talk with him while he was on his bed reading War and Peace. These episodes are connected through the fact that we first saw the poster of Johnny Cash as "The Man in Black" in Sheppard's fantasy bachelor pad in Home (where he did not yet have it in his actual room on Atlantis at the time), the poster appeared in Teyla's dream in The Gift (I have proposed that this was a precognitive vision on her part and he did not have the actual poster in his room yet because they had not yet re-established contact with Earth; and let us recall that Teyla had been a part of Sheppard's constructed reality and had seen the bachelor pad of his dreams for herself), and we finally see the poster in his room in this episode -- but more on that later.
But to iterate, it has been a long time since we have been able to see Sheppard's living space and now that we do, we can immediately tell that there have been some changes. The most obvious one is the guitar. He had not brought it with him when they first arrived, so it is likely something that he had brought from Earth when they returned with the Daedalus in The Intruder (S02E02). We also saw that McKay had brought many more personal effects with him in Duet (S02E04), which indicates that both of them had made the choice of relocating to Pegasus on a permanent basis now that making that choice had become possible. Neither had much of a life back on Earth, and what life they had they had packed up and taken with them. But between Before I Sleep and Runner, we have no evidence of Sheppard having occupied these quarters. This is where he lived during Home. And this is where he moved back into after the end of The Intruder, as they returned from Earth.
As mentioned, we do not know where Sheppard is coming from. He removes his jacket and ear piece as he takes a seat on his bed, but we have had a few indications that he had been sleeping in his jacket more than once recently (Runner, Duet). Because he only now notices that there is a mark on his arm, it means that where ever he had been he had kept his jacket on. Given that we saw him wearing a sweater when he answered the door to McKay previously, since insects are ectothermic this may indicate that he is feeling overheated. The iratus seem to be ambush predators that capture their prey via stealth, luring or instinctive strategies utilizing an element of surprise, remaining motionless and sometimes hidden, waiting for prey to come within ambush distance before pouncing on them. The more of Sheppard's DNA that gets overwritten, the more he starts to resemble them.
Sheppard: Hey, Doc? This is Sheppard. Beckett: Yes, Colonel? Sheppard: We may have to bump up our first check-in.
Important here is that Sheppard makes the choice to contact Beckett right away as he notices the mark, instead of delving headfirst into denial. It is not that he is hankering to discover just what the hell is happening to him so much as that his instinct is to protect people and he is starting to suspect that something is wrong with him. Something to note is also the fact that Sheppard is not wearing his watch here, where he definitely was wearing it while he was running with Ronon and sparring with Teyla. He was also not wearing the watch as he returned from their last mission with McKay. It is not a sports watch, he has no reason to be wearing it during exercise and to be taking it off while he is not exercising. He had lost his watch somewhere along the way. We are literally missing time here.
Now, whether or not Sheppard and McKay had been playing a game or what ever at the same time that Weir and Caldwell were starting theirs, this is the latest that Sheppard would have cut McKay off from himself. We discussed instincts earlier, and the main instincts of insects are to feed, fornicate and fight (kill), some insects do all three at once. But while Sheppard is turning into an insect as his DNA is being written over, his main instinct is to protect other people, even from himself (or especially from himself). Who is the character that we see in the episode the least? McKay. Who is the person whom we have seen Sheppard most want to protect in the past? Also McKay. These things are not unrelated.
Following this moment, Sheppard made damn sure that McKay would not be able to get anywhere near him. We are later even confirmed that Beckett has been keeping McKay away from Sheppard on purpose. And this is entirely on brand for Sheppard. Later on in the season in Michael (S02E18), we see that Sheppard has put a security detail on McKay, and only McKay. And similarly during The Gift (S01E18), Sheppard seems to have removed McKay from the site as they were putting Teyla under wraith hypnosis, not allowing him anywhere near her just in case. Sheppard does not take chances with McKay's life. It was the fact that Sheppard thought Ellia had saved McKay's life that had got him in this mess in the first place.

Atlantis is Beautiful in Ruins
Kaldur!Aqualad! x Demigod!Villain!Reader
MINORS DNI, 18+ ONLY Word Count: 560 Warnings: No warnings
"Oh, Kaldur! I'm bored! Come play with me!" You called as you dived into the water. The water always felt refreshing against your gills, especially after Robin threw his explosive Batarang you. The water healed you and made you more powerful.
"I won't let you get away!" Kaldur dived in after you, leaving his team to deal with yours. Kaldur was Atlantean meaning he was incredibly fast in the water, but not as fast as you. Kaldur started using his light-up tattoos to try and find you. "You can't hide."
You snuck up behind him in the murky water, "Sure I can," you whispered in his ear before swimming away.
"I will find you," Kaldur started swimming in the opposite direction from where you were.
"I hope you do!" You called while swimming in front of him. You were so fast that all Kaldur was able to see was a blur before you disappeared again. "I have a surprise for you, that is if you can find me."
"I will find you, and you and Ocean Master will pay for your crimes against Atlantis!" Kaldur kept his head on a swivel, trying to catch a glimpse of your movement.
"You always say that, but as soon as we're alone you let me go," You snuck up behind him again wrapped him in a hug, and kissed his cheek. "I think you're a big softie who actually likes play fighting with me."
Kaldur spun in your arms to face you, "Maybe I do." A few chaste kisses were shared between you two before Kaldur pulled away. "I assume you have your escape route planned."
"I'm always prepared," your hand starts to fidget with the strap that holds his water-bearers. "How much time do we have left?"
"I think my team is better than yours." Kaldur wore an uncharacteristic smirk.
"And why's that?" You pout.
"They've been waiting on me for the last five minutes." Kaldur pulls you closer for one last kiss, "Stay safe."
"You too." You say as you watch Kaldur swim to the surface and rendezvoused with his team.
You made your way out of the murky river easy enough, it was only a mile from your location to the open ocean. River water was fine, but ocean water is where you thrived. Once you hit the sea you swam to Infinity Island to meet with your mentors, Ocean Master, and the rest of The Light. You met Ocean Master and Ra's al Ghul when you reached the shore.
"The young heroes captured the rest of the squadron, where they'll be transported to Belle Reve, as you requested." You knelt in front of The Demon's Head, "I await further orders."
"You have done well, I'm pleased with your work." That was a high compliment from Ra's al Ghul.
"I assured you of their capabilities, did I not?" Ocean Master wadded into the sea. "Ra's has another mission for you, do me proud." With that, Ocean Master swam away to play house with his unsuspecting brother.
"How was young Kaldur'ahm?" Ra's asked nonchalantly like he was asking about the ocean temperature.
Feigning ignorance was futile, "He was fine," answering honestly was the best option.
"Not even attempting to lie?" Ra's smiled a little, "You have learned well. Stand." as you stood, Ra's turned inland. "Your next assignment is Santa Prisca."

Soft Moments in the Stars
Sam Coe x GN! Reader
GN! Reader. No pronouns, no use of Y/N, or reader descriptions used.
Anxiety, worry, some fear (Sam is there to comfort you and calm you down). Comfort, breathing exercises, reassurance.
Staring out into the stars, while everyone sleeps, your mind starts to worry. Sam notices you're awake and stays up with you.
Characters: Sam Coe. Mentions of Cora Coe, Sarah, Barrett, and Andreja.
Haha, bet you didn't expect another so soon! This is short. But I really needed it. Now that the poll requests are done, I can get into the heavier more plot related stuff >:) (Aka: my sad era)
Staring up at the stars, what a primal instinct it’s been for all of humanity since the dawn of creation. The unknown, the curiosity, the wonder in it. How long have humans been looking up at the night sky? And how many of your ancestors have done just the same; sitting, staring, and questioning?
What’s out there? How do you fit in to any of it? In this vast field of stars, of people, of planets—why are you the one to go on this cosmic journey?
New Atlantis had too much light pollution to look up and stargaze at night. Akila city had too much dust and sand in the air. But now, in the cockpit of the Frontier, the entire universe stretches out for your curious, pondering eyes.
Quiet moments, when everyone is asleep and the ship drifts across the blackest sea, are rare. It’s an opportunity to sit and really think. At times, maybe the constant hustle and bustle from place to place, mission to mission, is good. It’s a distraction, that much is clear. The lively conversations among your crew, Sarah jotting down notes about unexplored systems, Cora with her enthusiastic book reports—is comforting.
You may not always have them. It may be, in time, this quiet, contemplative silence is all you have left.
It’s a chilling, anxiety-ridden truth that you’ve been forced to think of more and more. Especially now.
With every new temple you discover, every new power you gain, a rift grows between you and the others. There’s a distinct feeling to it.
Sarah and Noel look at you like you’re something to be studied. Barrett uses constant humor and jokes to cover his nervousness. Andreja feels threatened by the power imbalance.
Only Sam continues to treat you the same.
Sam—wonderful, optimistic, loving, Sam.
Your shining light in the dark.
Every outcome is uncertain, but his promises of staying with you—always being at your side, no matter what—is a comfort unlike anything else.
A long-winded sigh leaves you. Your mind can’t help but wander into the worst-case scenarios or worry about the unknown. If these temples turn you into some kind of monster… what then? If your destiny takes you on a different path than his, how can you see it coming? Could you even prevent it?
What about Cora? Will she grow up without you? Her own path taking her elsewhere?
Is this all for nothing? Is this endless space an indifferent, uncaring, void that only seeks to be filled with violence—
Soft hands caress your tense shoulders. “Hey. What’re you doing up?”
Like a light switch being flipped, the anxious, spiraling thoughts cease. A lucid calm washes over you.
You lean back in your pilot’s seat, feeling the warmth of Sam behind you. “Couldn’t sleep.” You murmur.
He hums softly, leaning down closer to you. “What’s bothering you, sweetheart?”
“It’s hard to say.”
“Hmm…” He presses soft kisses to your shoulder, gently kneading the other. “Describe how you’re feeling.”
“Frustrated. I guess. I have so many questions.”
His thumbs move to massage between your shoulder blades. “I can tell, you’re very tense.”
This makes you chuckle, a breathy and tired sound. You can feel his short beard against your neck. His lips ghost over your skin. “Come back to bed, we can work some of that frustration out.”
A very tempting offer. Other nights you would happily accept to be whisked away in his arms, forget everything, and curl up next to him to start a new day. But something stops you.
He can feel your hesitation. His lips hover and his hands pause.
“It’s…It’s not just that…” You frown at the stars. Sam’s faint reflection in the glass watches you with caring, patient eyes.
“I’m…I’m scared—terrified, actually.” As if a great floodgate opens, you release your thoughts into the still air. “I don’t know what’s coming next; I rely on Constellation to have at least some idea of what we’re getting into. Seeing Sarah and Noel just as confused as I am…it’s really unsettling. These temples and powers…what if they change me into someone—or something—unrecognizable?”
Your breath quickens. “I don’t know what to do. There’s so much responsibility on my shoulders now, it’s all so sudden. What if I screw up? What if I get someone hurt—what if I get you hurt? Or if I make the wrong choice and—”
“Whoa, whoa. Easy. Take a deep breath.”
You do, filling your lungs just as he does, as he guides you along.
In and out. Slow. In and out.
Your heart calms, just a little, but your racing thoughts still tumble around your mind. “Thanks.” You whisper, leaning your head back against his shoulder and closing your eyes.
“Stand up. I wanna hold you.”
His hands guide you out of the chair, sliding under your arms and around you like a safety net. Your hands lay over his. They’re always so warm, while yours are always cold.
His body presses against yours, flooding you with his warmth, face nuzzling into the crook of your neck. He murmurs into your skin. “It’s alright. I’ve got you. I will always be with you.” His fingers tangle with yours, smooth and practiced.
“It’s natural to make mistakes—and it’s not your fault. You’re learning just like the rest of us. There’s no way you can predict the future, so go easy on yourself. Making mistakes is human.” He trails light kisses up your neck to the shell of your ear. “As for everything else—we take it one step at a time, together. If something doesn’t feel right, we can adjust or take a break. Don’t push yourself. The universe isn’t going anywhere.”
Tears dot the corner of your eyes as you smile and nod. Your voice is barely a whisper. “Thanks, Sam.”
“Anytime, love.”
You take some more steadying breaths, feeling your lungs fill and empty out rhythmically. “You always know exactly what to say.”
He chuckles, his breath is warm against your skin. “I know you, and I know how it feels to be weighed down by anxious thoughts.”
After a few more minutes of watching the stars, feeling your mind slow and your thoughts ease, “I think I’m ready for bed now.”
“You sure? I can give you some more time alone if you need it.”
“Nah.” You turn in his arms to face him, wrapping your arms around his neck. You’re greeted with the softest blue eyes and a loving smile. “I’m good now.”
Sam presses his forehead to yours. “I love you. You know that right?”
“Of course.” You press a soft, lingering kiss to the corner of his mouth. “I love you too.”
His content, happy, sigh—one of your favorite noises—lifts your heart out of the gloom.

“so, why Atlantis?”
I shared some very quick and informal thoughts a while back on why I hoped enough children grew up with the movie (or are discovering it now) to be influenced by Kida despite her exclusion from the “Disney Princess” brand; or by Milo as an unconventional hero who might remind them of themselves. that post received a couple of standout personal additions from mutuals, so I thought I would share my own “Atlantis story” whether anyone asked for it or not, because it is a bit different. it’s a so-so sample of my writing to lead with and came out schmaltzier than intended; but it’s how my pen happened to hit the paper in the moment and shows pretty clearly my typical romanticism, for better or worse.
I was eight years old on opening day in 2001 and as ecstatic as a little girl could be. my mom and I had taken a day trip to see my dad, who out of the goodness of his heart had agreed to sit through a local children’s entertainer in the afternoon and then a Disney movie in the evening. but in between singing puppets and my difficulty keeping still and responding as expected to questions and social cues, his patience started wearing and my mom slipping into a helpless bystander role. when we got to the theater, I had a gut feeling nobody was in for a fun time.
“two adults, one child for Atlantis,” my dad groaned at the ticket window.
I felt I was sitting between one person having teeth pulled and another smiling for the most awkward photos of her life. my mom was always my animated movie buddy, so her silence especially was deafening. her chuckle at Milo in the boiler room was a pin dropping, and her breath in on Helga’s “ho, ho, ho” was a disquieting hiss.
…alright, my dad finally motioned as the Leviathan tore across the screen.
“they talk so fast, it’s hard for me to understand them. and there aren’t even any songs,” was the most explanation my mom would give. the ride home was long, silent, and pitch-black as I lay across the backseat. I wanted to know what happened to Milo, but the wooziness of shame swirling through me let me know that wanting wasn’t even worth it.
pin trading was at its peak the next year at Disney World, and I was on a mission to fill my new pink lanyard with all my favorite characters before the trip was done. in very little time I found myself gazing up at a cast member wearing a Milo pin, and I shocked myself how quickly I asked her for it. I hoped holding onto it would reassure me that that wonderful story and character would wait for me as long as I needed.
watching the movie in high school felt a bit like the very rare party I was lucky enough to inexplicably find myself. I loved what I saw, but I felt my simply being there was a fluke. I wondered at first why I struggled to enjoy beyond arm’s length, but the damage was still in effect. it only reminded me again what I wished every single day: that my brain had kept developing normally, and all the things my autism either distorted or outright forbid would have happened exactly as they were meant. and since attitudes toward special interests had far to go, what would have fed me soup and covered me in kisses at age six could only visit through the glass at sixteen.
the days of LiveJournal and early Tumblr and Instagram came and went, and “Disney adult” culture went from a trickle to a wave. I attended community college as an English major and met my sister-bestie @scp-113 there on Halloween 2013, she dressed as Violet Parr and I as Minnie Mouse. our Anna and Elsa cosplay just a month later on opening night of Frozen couldn’t have been more fitting. a decade later, she made my dream come true of finally seeing Disney World as an adult, and no planning could have prepared me for the personal growth that trip would inspire. I loved throwing my arms around Mirabel in the Magic Kingdom because of, not despite, the emotional control that had finally taken hold at thirty. I wouldn’t have traded that interaction for the one awaiting the costumed little girl right behind me. that realization shook me to the bone.
“don’t cry because it’s over. smile because it happened,” my dad would tell me countless times since childhood with only the best intentions. “I haven’t been able to stop smiling,” I told him week after week following my trip. falling asleep for months scrolling back through those four special days was the most satisfying thing ever.
then one night, deep within a Magic Kingdom dream like any other, there they were. Milo Thatch and Princess Kida, just as they appeared in the “rare character guide” videos I had watched before the trip many months ago. they were hugging a child who had just run up to meet them: a young girl who looked very familiar. that settles it, I thought. the circle had at last closed.
now about once a week, my darling pup hears, “ready for Atlantis?” or “ready for Milo?” and leaps to my side in bed as I start the movie on my laptop. indeed, it feels exactly like a big warm hug every time. the artistry, the story, the characters, the humor, the heart. Milo is every bit the hero I needed as an uncertain child who loved words and language but hated being different…but he’s the one I got as an adult finding peace with her brain and eager to keep chasing her dreams. I’m writing more original words every day, journaling again, and speaking and thinking more fluidly all because of jotting down random thoughts about this movie and liking how they sounded. I’ve also put aside the idea that the influencer path might bring me joy, and I feel comfortable online again and have met some great folks so far through fan works and discussions from silly to profound.
and so I thank that little voice that whispered for 23 years: “…Atlantis is waiting.”

What about a blurb on how she develop feelings for robin
main masterlist
codename: nightingale series masterlist
i'll probably write more about the event that makes birdy's crush really cement, but for now, here's how i imagine it!
birdy has a crush!
like i said, we knew from day 1 she had a crush. and we see a lot of her development of said crush. but what if we take it back a beat. what if we went back to where it started bc i can guarantee it wasn’t until robin did something to prove himself
but there must've been a day or a mission or a training exercise she did with the other sidekicks after she came back from Atlantis.
(you know, maybe when she came back, she was really tan from being in the sun on the beach?)
But whatever it is, that happens after she comes back, and you know everybody's excited to see her obviously, but she notices things cause it's been almost like a year too since she saw anybody but kaldur.
Both boys have grown. wally’s taller than her now, though Robin’s like not exactly, but getting close.
Maybe he does something that shows her the softer side, sweeter side, something other than the show-off that is the Dark Knight detective’s sidekick protégé and she's just a little in awe.
this acts as the root of her crush...
something kaldur mercilessly teases her for especially given how she was basically a gremlin to him when she realized Kaldur had a crush on tulla
"turnabout is fair game, my friend," he says with a smirk, eyes twinkling in amusement as he watches the young girl stare at the boy in question.

I'm re-watching SGA again and omfg the first episode when weir and daniel are talking, "Atlantis" "I think we can go there" CHILLS
(Gonna be updating this like live tweeting because I can and I will)
-(@autistic-crypt1d)
Updates:
- Ok so straight up did not remember there was no intro for the first few episodes. Also, John and Teyla's first interactions are sooooo awkward, I always forget that. DAMN the plot is so good right off the bat though. The city rising from the ocean??? BEAUTIFUL, MORE CHILLS, GORGEOUS.
- the color scheme and lighting for the wraith ships is soooooo different in the beginning WOW. The blue and grey, complete lack of other colors aside from a slight yellowish light. So drastically different from the heavy yellow and green fleshyness it becomes later on.
- FORD, AHH 💛
- I've always wondered if the red haired wraith was intentionally not following the black or white hair scheme or if that was a pilot thing where they hadn't thought that far yet. (If anyone knows please lmk)
- DAMN the wraith are so fucking cool. I'm 1000% going to make a whole seperate post ranting about them, but I just have to say they introduce them SO WELL. They're intimidating, mysterious, powerful, and not to mention SO UNIQUE. GAAAAAH!!
- "We are merely the caretakers for the ones who sleep" CHILLS. FUCKING CHILLS DUDE. All the lifsigns appearing and the pods lighting up??? BRUH
- Ok Teyla and John's first head bonk, ADORABLE. I love that they do that and that's their thing ya know? Like it's her people's thing but the only expedition member she does it with is John as far as I can remember.
- Episode 3, THE INTRO ARRIVES AND IT IS BEAUTIFUL
- gotta say, the personal forefield thing is a lil inconsistent, like the coffee can't touch his body in the slightest but he can grip the cup? Could be that they're expecting the viewer to assume the forcefield is creating a gap between his hand and the cup and just left out the sound and green flash, but idk
- Jinto (Ginto? I'm not sure how it's spelled) is such a fun character, I wish he was featured with the other ethosians after the move from Atlantis :/
- I love how Sheppard, Teyla, and Rodney all start to really become a team already in ep 3 with the shadow creature. All 3 not knowing eachother really at all, but after everything on the wraith ship and now with this creature threatening everyone on atlantis, they come together and we see their strengths as individuals and their ability to work together using them. Plus getting to see Rodney really step up and be selfless really gives you a new view on him after his appearances on SG-1.
- idk if it was intentional, but Ford being in the infirmary and not with the other 3 could be some serious foreshadowing for later. I mean him not being there while the majority if the team forms really does not set him up for success being the fourth. Don't get me wrong, I adore Ford, I just also think that Ronan fits the team better and provides a better dynamic.
- I kinda love how there's no discussion shown about Teyla joining the team, she's just on the next mission with them. After the 3rd episode it just makes sense ya know?
- iratus (aratus?) bug, then eventually John literally gets infected and starts turning into a wraith cuz of the retro virus? Bro cannot catch a break
- gotta say, the audio balancing in this show is not my favorite, I always have to crank it up by like 10 when it's all talking and then am immediately auditorally flashbanged when the action starts 😂
- I know it's all serious and shit but Rodney and Ford getting tossed around the back of the jumper is fucking hilarious, especially knowing that they themselves are throwing themselves around
- UGH KAVANAGH
- "don't talk to me about screwed!" Teyla's face at Rodney, PRICELESS. Like, do you not see the man paralyzed with the bug on his neck sapping his life force? Stfu
- omfg I never noticed before but when they're running up the dirt hill from the wraith in John's flashback of the bug attachment, Teyla grabs his arm to get up the hill because the sand is constantly crumbling 😂
- Weir putting Kavanagh in his place, PEAK.
- "you're telling me he can't go through the gate while that thing is on him?" "Then we must do something NOW" THE DRAMA, I LOVE IT, THE MUSIC AS BECKETT EXPLAINS THE PLAN, UGH, SO GOOD
- man even though everyone was fine you can see on Halling's face how the fact that Weird didn't allow the ceremony to happen affected him. Like, would it have sucked for the rest of the people on the ship to be told to prepare to die? Yes, but Teyla might have felt comforted by it, we don't get to find out. Really foreshadows all the conflict that occure between the cultures because of their differences later on and how the expedition's culture is always the one that gets its way. The Athosian's really get the short end of the stick in their relationship with the expedition members for like, the entire show :/
- OOF and it only gets worse with Ep 5 when they think there's a spy and only after basically accusing every Athosian of maybe colluding with the wraith (literally the biggest insult you could ever say to an Athosian or really anyone in the pegasus galaxy), do they find out about the necklace. Not to mention the tension when Bates accused Teyla and all that goes down I mean, YIKES.
- ANYWAY
- I will never get over the fact that they fucking TAZED a wraith dude 😂
- ok so they've captured their first wraith, but I always wondered why they never bothered to try and capture another iratus bug. I mean, they already theorized in its first appearance that they're some sort of prehistoric ancestor to the wraith and they're easier to contain and handle than a whole ass wraith so why no let study it? I think they do later when the whole inoculation thing happens but I guess idk why they wouldn't take the opportunity to study something like that off the bat. Even just to study the regenerative abilities.
- bro episode 6 makes me so sad every time, the ancients really just decided to tell them to off themselves in order to get to their version of heaven instead of something asking the lines of maybe, idk, don't have too many kids or something?? Don't stray outside the field?? Anything else??? I'm sure the ancients had some sort of birth control, maybe share that tech??
- is it just me or does Keras 1000% have a crush on Sheppard? (Who could blame him tbh) I mean, the smile he gives him at the end???
- brooooo not the Hoffan drug event 😭 it's so sad dude, the desperate attempt to save themselves only for it to kill a huge chunk of their people and lead to them fleeing their planet as the wraith attempt to wipe them out.
- ya know, they keep that wraith in the brig for a while and there's no bathroom in there, do wraith even need to use the bathroom since they only feed on life force? If they eat regular food does that mean they have to use the bathroom?
- ok ep 8, underground, absolutely one of the most infuriating episodes imo. The Genii are great antagonists, but god damn are they infuriating about ittttt. Tyrus getting himself killed in the wraith ship and Teyla getting blamed for it??? Don't even get me started on Kolya and Sora dude.
- ya know, I find it interesting how they differentiate scientists and military personnel in the field initially. It changes at some point but right now the scientists are in the tan color while military are in the dark navy. They obviously have the color coding back at atlantis with the color blocking, but the field stuff changes and I think that's interesting.
- the cocooning thing the wraith do to save victims for a later feeding is such a horrific and unique thing to add to them as a species and enemy. Like, that's so cool in such an awful way, they really nailed making the wraith scary dude.
- man it's so weird to see this version of the wraith ships, they're so much more techy than fleshy
- ok so ep 9 "Home", always confused me for one reason, Simon and Elizabeth. They mention him like once after his first appearance I think with absolutely zero follow up. He's such a weird like Checkovs gun fuck up (I think I'm using that right, he's like the opposite of "if you mention a gun it should eventually go off"). His relationship with Weir is never flushed out further and it's all so weird.
- something I really like about the episode is how right off the bat there's hints that something is wrong after they believed they dialed earth. Like, when Weir comes through the gate into the SGC she's alone, but in the briefing room suddenly McKay is with her. Of course things only get more confusing from there once we see Sheppard there etc etc.
- can we all agree they did Teyla so damn dirty with her hair rn
- ep 10 THE STORM OMFG. I am SO excited for this episode dude let's goooooooo
- THE DRAMAAAA, god the scene is set so perfectly, the coming storm, the danger, the empty city, GAH such a good setting for what's to come
- the fucking bacon convo between the two guards PFFFFT, I love it so much dude
- Rodney slickly leaning on the intercom to alert Sheppard is just so good. I love those two SO MUCH dude. Those two can do fuckin anythinggggg.
- Sheppard yelling at Kolya over the walkie in the wind with the waves crashing, god he's such a badass and everyone fucking KNOWS ITTTT
- I FORGOT IT WAS A 2 PARTER. I'm even more excited about The Eye, shit is about to get REAL.
- Rodney standing between Kolya with the gun and Elizabeth, I love that man dude.
- "Oh would you look at this?! That is just never gonna be useful again!" - Rodney McKay, being dramatic as per usual and I love it
- John sheppard literally in the rafters waiting for the Genni FOOLS who thought they could take him. Bro really saw those life signs disappear and whimpered "report...". He knew true feat that day.
- McKay's sign "REALLY REALLY DANGEROUS, DO NOT TOUCH.". Sheppard 👀... imma touch it
- the way weir grabs Kolya as he presses Rodney against the railing, heavily contemplating throwing him over. She couldn't possibly stop him, but the way she tries and runs to grab him after he's released, so wholesome dude.
- "are you telling me to shut up again?" "Again."
- "turn. around." "You turn around" "what?" "Well if I have to turn around, you should turn around." Sassiest mf alive.
- Bro the final grounding station being sperated and everyone all at once realizing there is only one place to go, the control room. Everyone in the same place, the culmination of the entire ordeal. Have I mentioned how fucking AWESOME the sound track is for this show??? Because DAMN.
- ok Sora pisses me off, but the hallway scene with her and Teyla where she comes at her. Dude the emotion and reckless abandon she has confronting her, it's so good. Plus Tesla's entire lack of fear, she knows she can take this girl down in a heartbeat and she will if she has to, but she doesn't and god that's so badass.
- "you said this would work!" "I DON'T KNOW IF YOU'VE NOTICED BUT I'M AN EXTREMELY AREOGANT MAN WHO BELIEVES ALL HIS PLANS WILL WORK"
- "I'm not aiming at her" fucking shoots the dude dead on, SUCH A BADASS DUDE.
- the lightning through the halls, the apocalyptic size wave heading for the city, AHHHH (wave is a lil janky looking but still dope)
- "nice work Rodney" "did you ever doubt me?" "Yes, several times"
- man the ancient weapons platform satellite was introduced a lot sooner than I thought! Now I'm sad because I remember that part.
- this episode (12) is both awesome and like, depressing af. Seeing Sheppard go one on one with this wraith who's been trapped on a planet alone thinking only of eating and escaping is so intense. Not to mention the wraith that's just eaten the two scientists he was supposed to protect. I also absolutely love Ridney wanting to go out and help Sheppard despite his background as a scientist and general phobia of... everything combat related. Also can I just say that this episode is HELLA FORESHADOWING (intentional or not) for S5 E19 - Vegas??
- oh hey, it's the bugs from that one SG-1 episode with Cadet Hayley.
- bro Sheppard realizing there could still be a Wraith on board
- the fact that this Wraith was also one who was actively part of the war with the ancients and his last interaction was that of combat, bro is out for bloooood
- watching Sheppard shake tf outta the bandage trying to unravel it only to still slap it on on top of the strap at first. How are we supposed to believe this mf actually tied that onto himself XD (jk John is amazing he can do anything obviously)
- almost blows himself up 2 seconds later
- there's gonna be a post where I talk about the wraith extensively but I have to say that I just love how multidimensional they are. Like the ones without masks aren't just soldiers or mindless drones for their queen, they're smart. Like this wraith is just boping away in the controls of the lantian ship, activating the forecfield, figuring out how to use a human gun. It's horrifying in such a cool way! A monster that gives even adults nightmares that is smart dude, that's so dope.
- I don't think people talk about Rodney witnessing Dr. Gall's death in this episode. I mean that's gotta have fucked him up dude. You can see it in his face afterwards. Then he has to go from that to confronting a wraith that's trying to kill Sheppard and he does. No hesitation he goes out there and opens fire dude.
- ooooo episode 13, the death by fear shit
- I love seeing Rodney in a leadership position. Is he an ass? Yes, but he is genuinely a fantastic leader. I don't think he should run Atlantis or anything, but he's fantastic in a second in command type deal and I love seeing it.
- dude Peterson is THE WORST dude. He's 10000% the mf in a zombie movie who hides a bite. Like I get you're scared but you're endangering literally everyone else.
- seeing the city quarenteen on its own once Peterson gets out of the damaged sensor area is so cool. I know it's all coding and stuff but man do they have a fantastic way of making the city feel alive.
- I don't understand how the red hazmat suits Sheppard and Teyla put on do anything. They're not sealed, like the hood is just kinda slapped on there. Carson's teams suits look sealed but theirs? Idk I wouldn't trust that
- ugh I really do not.like episode 14 y'all. There is literally zero chemistry between the ancient lady and John, it is so forced it's PAINFUL. Also another prime example of how the ancients are massively pompous self important dickheads that caused almost every single massive problem we see in stargate istg. Wraith? Their fault, replicators? Their fault and thus the annihilation of the asgard, their fault. Anubis? ALSO THEIR FAULT. Also probably like a lot more that we don't even know about cuz those fuckers have been meddling with the universe for a long ass time before getting wiped out.
- bro Sheppard believing this random ass person over RODNEY, will never not piss me off. This man has been there for you no matter what and you're not even gonna give him the benefit of the doubt that something is up with this complete stranger??? HE'S ABSLUTELY RIGHT ABOUT HER TOO OFC.
- the way Rodney starts walking towards Sheppard as he runs off to get a jumper. He wanted to go with him so bad 😭
- ok there's gonna be a rant in another post about the ancients rn, I'll put the link here
- "ah, that's what I thought, freezer burn." ABSKDJSKA RODNEY
- 1 x 15 is a pretty meh episode to me overall, but "that's not what happened, not the first time" and the whole flooding scene are pretty damn awesome
- the way I would immediately cry if I got there and realized we were fucking underwater dude, hell no. Then when the flooding started??? I'd have a heart attack before I drowned.
- Rodney staying behind, working until the end, duuuuude 😭
- the fact that Weir chooses the jar Sheppard gave her for her birthday to put her ashes in...
- ep 16 man, the one off insinuation of romance with McKay and the archeologist woman is so weird first of all. Sheppard seems to be the only one who agrees with that (jealous?)
- the other woman with them who rats em out to Kolya, UGH. DUDE.
- Sheppard not wanting to let McKay go alone with Kolya, so cute
- bro poor Carson being tasked to dog fight a damn wraith dart 😭 he's a nervous wreck in the best of days dude
- my question is, how does no one notice the piece that's hiding the last stone in the map? It's clearly a slot, like, come on now.
- Sheppard and Rodney getting side tracked about the Mensa thing, TWICE 😂
- they way Rodney looks to Sheppard after hearing the news of the wraith dark and loss of a jumper and crew. Teyla doesn't, no one else, we're shown Rodney looking to him.
- ok ep 17 is the whole preparing for the hive ships thing, this is leading up to 2 of my absolute favorite episodes (siege 1 and 2)
- they finally fixed Teyla's hair!
- duuuuude, seeing the hive ships for the first time, not to mention the cruisers with them, WOAH. The sheer size and quantity of them.
- watching Ford's video tape knowing what's about to happen in Siege pt 2... ouch.
- Carson losing it trying to tell his mom he misses her 😭 I love that man
- Teyla and Sheppard clashing over their ideals due to their background is so good. I love that they show their different viewpoints, never really pushing for one being right or wrong. Then for them to both have to sit and watch the culling happen before their eyes, a mutual, horrible feeling of helplessness.
- "you didn't say anything that would require security clearance did you?" "Security clearance?" 😂
- Rodney's entire video tape
- Dr. Weir's recordings to inform the families of deceased expedition members 😭
- UGH, KAVANAGH.
- The final snippets of video ahhhhhhhhhh
- SAM
- bro ep 18 is STRESSFUL AF. The revelation about the source of Tesla's powers, the conflict with her and Bates, finding out there's been a god damn WRAITH in the city THE ENTIRE TIME since the dart showed up.
- I know it's a really short scene, but Teyla and Sheppard sparring is still a favorite. It just shows once again how much they truly view eachother as equals, far too often are female teammates viewed as less, weaker, in need of protection. Not these two though, they don't hold back with eachother, they know that the other can take it and they continue to push eachother to be better. I love them so much. Not to mention how much they value the thoughts and opinions of the other.
- Rodney and Teyla running into eachother at Dr. Heightmeyer's office and him immediately making up a ridiculous excuse is so so Rodney.
- Ford making fun of Rodney making a tiny dick joke about him only to be SHUT TF DOWN by Sheppard is so funny
- Teyla being confronted with a fact she's been running from her whole life is so heartbreaking. She's connected to the Wraith, the species who has terrorized and killed her people and countless others throughout the galaxy for thousands and thousands of years.
- getting pretty much confirmation that the wraith created the damn wraith, angerrrrrr
- ok rq, Weir just said that according to the data from the lab, Wraith don't seem to be able to read the minds of humans even though they have a telepathic network, but they can on some level. We saw it in episode 2 when Colonel Sumner is being interrogated by the Wraith. Not only did she kinda read his mind, but she got so inside his head she was able to force him to kneel just using her mind! Maybe this is just cuz she's a queen (it's mentioned in that underwater power rig episode queens are significantly more powerful mentally than other wraith.), but still, it is entirely within their ability to read and influence human minds on some level. Even without the experimental stuff done to Teyla's ancestors.
- what's with everyone getting sedated in these shows
- UGH. BATES MY GUY STOOOOOP.
- I totally get that the Ancients are basically gods to the people of the pegasus galaxy, but Halling expecting the people of Atlantis to risk letting the Wraith get to the Milkyway out of faith? Faith that people who abandoned their galaxy over 10,000 years ago leaving the inhabitants alone to be repeatedly harvested and tormented by creatures they created? After all of that, all the horrors he's seen, the people he's lost and he wants them to risk letting it happen to a whole other galaxy because the Ancients might have a plan??? BRO.
- R "Oh yeah. Yeah that's permanent back damage." Peter "Sorry, I assumed it would come on more slowly." R "Well you assumed with my life." (He's so sassy I love it)
- I love the satellite trio so much, I wish we could've gotten more before... sadness. Also, how TF did Miller snap the pencil that easily???
- PETER NOOOOOO 😭 the way that they say they'll see eachother after the fight is so devastating dude, they're saying it for eachother but they both know he's not making it out of there alive and it breaks. my. heart.
- god, watching the first wraith ship be destroyed, everyone filled with joy and hope that maybe, just maybe they can win this fight. Then the wraith ships start to turn and Peter can't get the satellite back online and they all know exactly what's about to happen. Rodney tries to come back for him anyway but it's too late, it was always going to be too late but it doesn't make watching the satellite be destroyed any less devastating. Not only have they lost the satellite, their only hope, but their friend was on board when it happened and that, that is what kills their hope in that moment.
- new colonel guy irritated the fuck outta me right off the bat. Bro thinks after reading their message and mission reports that he has ANY idea what they're up against and it's bonkers.
- AHHH, the way Sheppard stands with Weir against the Colonel guy cutting her out, I love that man.
- I've been pausing this episode like a billion times because I have so much to write about it, help.
- the fact that Sheppard warns them they should keep some of the proximity warheads in reserve and he doesn't listen... AUGH. He is sooooo gonna regret that later.
- Carson and Rodney bickering will never stop being hilarious
- even tied up, blindfolded, and alone in a Genii facility, Elizabeth stands her ground like a damn badass.
- "yeah well we're building nuclear bombs here, staying awake is a prerequisite." "Snappy." PFFFFT
- poor Rodney man, dude already doesn't sleep enough, but now he's been awake for days already and still running around being the only reason any of these plans have a chance in hell. He needs a nap and a snack asap.
- "So long Rodney" you could write this off as Rodney being the person who happened to be in the room when he decided to man the jumper manually, but I think we all know that's not the case. He's run off in silence without so much of a word to anyone more times than I can count, but Rodney, he has to say goodbye, even if it's a crappy one.
- "You let Sheppard fly that jumper?" God he is so heart broken in this moment, he never had the chance to stop him but Elizabeth, she has the opportunity and she didn't. I don't think he ever could've truly forgiven her for that if he'd died.
- GOD DAMN I FORGOT THIS WAS A 3 PARTER.
- Rodney dropping the clip PFFFFFT
- Ford... his storyline makes me so sad, especially in this episode. The character we love so dearly, this boy who has seen war and conflict and violence and is still so full of joy and love loses himself before our very eyes. Before the eyes of his friends and there's nothing they can do to stop it.
- THE MUSHROOM CLOUD GOD DAMN
- "why are you whispering?" "I dont know, just seemed like the right thing to do."
- god the siege episodes are so good, if you wanna hear about my ramblings in more detail I'll link that post once it's made here.
- this is getting long af so each season will have it's own post

KotLC OC tournament info post - 18/24
Ariadne Varil
Name: Ariadne Varil
Species: Elf
Gender/Pronouns: she/her
Creator: Swan @an-ungraceful-swan
Short desc: Ariadne is a former/partially retired Council informant who grew up as part of the nobility. After going to exillium on an assignment as a coach she fell for an actual coach. Ensue a messy breakup as her intentions are revealed which she’s still not over
Backstory: Ariadne Varil was born into a lower noble family, as the middle of her siblings, never quite old enough to run with her older sister’s friends, most of whom were in the elite levels by the time she started tutoring, and too reserved to ever really fall in with her brother’s friends, all of whom were menaces in their own right, despite being only a year younger than her. She manifested quite young as a flasher, though never had much talent in her ability and excelled more in her other classes and areas of study. Her father was a low ranking regent, but his meager connections were enough to get her an internship type job going into the elite levels, working under the then Emissary Clarette.
As her education became more focused, she took more classes focused on politics and history, and had quite an affinity for seeing through the glitz and glamor in the upper echelons of the elven world and being able to analyze what it was and understand people’s positions. When she graduated she officially became an assistant to an older Emissary, one who’d long since established himself at the crux of Elven politics, though continued discrete communication and under the table work for Clarrette. She was never especially close with her family, and moved to an apartment in Atlantis nearly immediately after graduating. Her matching was handled as a quiet affair, she simply got her list, sat down for dinner with the eligible suitors, and talked it through with them. She never saw it as anything other than a necessary part of maintaining her status among the nobility and blending into the masses, and made that fact quite clear to her potential spouses. She eventually married her husband, though they continued living separately, leading their own lives and really only presenting as a couple when strictly necessary, especially for the first hundred years or so of their marriage. They each had their own aspirations and affiliations, and that was quite enough for them.
She was just over 200 years old when Clarette became a councillor, and she had been serving as a regent for some time. Her role got elevated to that of an Emissary and she was trusted with her first more important project than simply passing along the little whispers she could scrounge up. Without any official ways to keep track of elves that had either left or been banished from larger society, she went simply to gather information in one of the larger communities, posing as someone who had become disillusioned with the Lost Cities and couldn’t “stay in their crystal palaces” anymore. The plan had been to stay for a century, long enough to engrain herself and pass along valuable information, but it got cut short when her cover was blown less than halfway through her assignment. She managed to get out and return home, but not before picking up some rather obvious scarring. Ariadne moved in with her husband for the first extended period of time, and took quite a bit of time to herself, recuperating on her new estate that she’d been absent from up until that point. She was a bit conflicted, after all despite her unfortunate parting spending time away from the Lost Cities had been eye opening to her and it was odd being back without anyone to really talk about what she’d seen. It’s why when she was presented with the opportunity to work on another longer term mission, this time based in Exilium, she agreed, becoming one of the coaches of the program. There she met fellow Coach Nikola, and took an immediate liking to her for how genuine she seemed. It was refreshing after her time spent back in elven upper society, and rarely did Niko ever mince her words or hide what she was feeling. Ariadne’s job at Exillium was simple, be eyes to report back anything that might be happening among the students and fit in as a coach, but growing closer to Niko she saw just how much the other coach cared about the kids, even if the culture of the program dissuaded her from showing it. Seeing someone with such passion for carving their own path against the grain, trying against all odds to do good, when Ari had simply been skating along and following orders her whole life, dealing with information she was rather detached from, it was a change, and a bit of a wake up call. She wasn’t really all that surprised as she developed feelings, she’d had feelings for colleagues and acquaintances before, but her marriage for the match and duty to her job had always prevented her from doing much more than acknowledging them. Here, under a name that wasn’t quite hers, with someone quite interested in holding her accountable, she had no such obligations, and fell into a relationship of sorts, even partially moving into Niko’s apartment after some time had passed.
Of course all things come to an end, and some of the students at Exilium had been not so discreetly planning some illegal activities as a way to get back to the council. It’d come to the coaches attention, and consensus lead by Niko was to let it diffuse naturally. Of course the kids were bound to be angry, but they were all talk and needed a place to vent their righteous frustration. Privately, Ariadne disagreed and after a bit of internal debate reported it up through her pipeline. It was dealt with by the proper authorities, resulting in punishments being meted out and the kids written off from most chances to rejoin the lost cities, but in the process Ariadne’s role in it was revealed and Nikola realized she had just been there as an informant and thus felt rightfully betrayed and angry. They had a singular blow up fight before Nikola resolved to icing Ariadne out, something that worked as Ariadne was back in the lost cities within the year. She now has whatever the elven spy equivalent of a desk job is, attending functions and keeping an ear to the ground, but otherwise has very little to do. Despite time having passed since, she’s quite conflicted about the whole thing, feeling just bad enough to have the seeds of discontent slowly sowed. Angsts about her estate, is rather dramatic with the whole situation and feels isolated at this point. She’s currently working as simply someone with her ear to the ground at galas and whatnot, the elven spy equivalent of a desk job, but is a bit resentful of the whole thing not quite sure how she feels about it all.
