an assignment from last semester! it was a "style emulation" project, where you pick three shows from a list the professor provides, as well as two from a list of:

objects (one handheld size, one person-sized); animals (one small, one large); and celebrities (one male-presenting, one female-presenting)

Working on some of my first ever RVB artwork, which is like, HELLA overdue. Like, 19 years overdue. Why is it that it took my brain this long to start obsessing over this show *now* and not like, ya know, BEFORE when it was first starting and I was into it then as well. Ugh, anywho, so while drawing resident Cyborg Nerd, I find myself of two minds simultaneously screaming: "MAKE HIM LOOK LIKE JENSEN!" and "Broken Ass Robo Scrap Junkyard Reject" . . . . But what I can Abso-Lutly tell you is that, I made the slightest, the tiniest chuckle about how he reminds me of Wheatly and Uhm, yeah. He's Young Steven Merchant to me now. That's my facecanon for him now. Can not undo. That's it. I'm done. Lol. But like Thin Rimmed Round Glasses not square. Heh.

Jemma and May, and a story for a home and its memories; for lives lost and the still living, and for a different sort of joy than you ever imagined.

A story inspired by this snippet by @meanderings0ul.

They’d finally shared details of their plans once the team was all together, lights strung up all over the Lighthouse for New Year’s and the old base so much warmer than it had once been.

May had flown them out here two days later with nothing much more than a I know a place. She’d borrowed a jeep from a hangar whose elder occupants greeted her with startled recognition, tugged the keys from her pocket upon arrival and opened the door for them in silence.

The house had been dusty inside, in almost perfect condition otherwise. It had that quietly melancholy air of a house long since empty, the faint scuffs on the wood polish and memories of warmth that meant it had once been lived in, loved. It wasn’t until Jemma saw the absent way May leaned her hip against a cabinet that wouldn’t shut properly unless you shoved it just right, the way she watched them walk around more than she looked at the house, that it finally clicked.

German and Armenian are both comfort languages for Pixie within slightly different contexts but for ultimately the same reasons.

She grew up in a multicultural and multi-lingual home. While her father was basically your stereotypical white southern American, her mothers family was Armenian on her fathers side and German on her mothers.

More specifically, Pixie’s maternal grandmother was an immigrant that barely spoke any English; and her maternal grandfather was second-generation Armenian- his fathers family had lived in West Virginia for generations, but his mother and her family had lived in Armenia their entire lives prior to coming to the U.S. The end result was Pixie’s mother speaking German from an early age with her mother; while getting a lot of exposure to Armenian with her fathers family + then English outside of the home. This led to her somewhat favoring German as a home language, as well as heavily using Armenian terms of endearment for her family and kids.

Naturally, for Pixie this meant while she grew up speaking English as a first language, she still grew up on Armenian lullabies and German conversations with her mother. And the use of German only increased when her younger brother was adopted, whose native language was in fact German and all of a sudden there was a second reason to maintain the use of German at home.

For Pixie, she associates both German and Armenian heavily with home, and her mother (and brother) especially. They’re both incredibly comforting languages for her, and she’s almost as comfortable with German as she is with English. She still uses certain terms in Armenian as pet names for those she’s fond of.

She didn’t grow up speaking Armenian, but she’s begun to learn it in adulthood to reconnect with her heritage and connect with her grandfather especially before he passes away.

while ceader may be the son of a love god who leans into his heritage, he is fiercely protective of those in the aro & ace communities. especially if they're a sibling or happen to be descended from a different love god. it's hard to not have attractions in a society that expects everyone to have some and gets mad when someone doesn't. so, yeah, he's an ally to their community.

besides, there are other types of love—not just romantic and sexual—so it's not even like those communities are even missing out on love anyways.
