Been thinking a lot today about Phil calling his content mid (I think specifically covid era/dnpg hiatus??), I'm not going to listen to the whole TIT audio recording until after my show so I may be missing some context but I don't necessarily read this as self-deprecation, but more like he wasn't feeling fulfilled creatively. We joke but he seriously made some artistic + experimental stuff espec in his early days. Like he has talked about a big inspiration for him being lonelygirl15 which was an early youtuber that turned out to be a scripted actress and it was done as a social experiment/art project. Ik the narrative (that even they portray kind of) is Dan is the "smart/cultured" one and I kind of hate it lol,. I think Phil calling his content mid isn't a self dig but him saying that he knows he could do something different and that he feels constrained by being "entertaining",algorithm, what gets views and some idea of what kind of videos youtubers are supposed to make these days. All this to say though I did really like his covid content and think he understand the value + importance of "light entertainment" and feels proud of his career etc but it'd be cool to see him stretch different muscles as well (that ikkk he has). I think that's why I loved dnpc slime so much bcos it was so weird phil

Do you translate Hebrew songs? Poetry?

Lol not really ?? Its sort of complicated bcos i do read hebrew songs & poetry but most of the time they are presented w translation at the same time so its like i can translate the liturgy, the poetry, the songs etc that i am reading but if i were to give a formal english translation it wuld b someone elses. Like u sent this to me after i posted poetry on tisha b'av in this post and you can see that the english and the hebrew are presented together so you can read the hebrew and then if you are confused supplement with the english translation. So its like, i can translate songs espec smth really common like the Shema or 18 blessings that are the core of the prayer services off the cuff but if you asked me to translate something random its really a roll of the dice whether i know what it means (most common conundrum: i know what some/all the words mean, but together??)

re boyd+hsin venom or jennifer’s body, i feel like venom has more vibes about like control? like they both realize that they’re being controlled by Big Mean Guy so even though venom was being controlling to eddie they team up and get together. and icos definitely has themes of control so i guess you could make that work. but jennifer’s body is all about the like toxicity of being shitty towards the people you care about. and wow is that literally the plot of the series. so i feel like the latter? also because it would be very funny for either of them to be a cannabalistic succubus

SKDSFLDSFJ anon you had me at the beginning there i was sort of surprised like they chose venom! cool i would have chosen jb but--- oh, they did. lmao great minds but i do agree about venom being about control, and i could go on about how both venom and beausin are the sort of things everyones like oh yeah so as a joke and then you watch/read it and are like yes definitely as a joke but also... that went hard. and of course the enemy of my enemy is my friend in the the helpless, controlled victim of the guy who is also making me a helpless controlled victim is my... partner owo. but the toxicity of being shitty towards the people you care about yes !! thats why i personally lean towards jennifers body au. the movie is sooo high school bcos its a high school movie nd im always thinking about when ivan told hsin that his relationship drama with boyd was so high school because.... screaming but true. and i dont fault them for it because they are in such a fucked up situation its making them regress and bond in weird ways (espec considering the theme of abuse stealing your childhood and leaving you Lost in adulthood) so i am like... you could make this jennifers body.

screaming at the fact that you left it ambiguous who was jennifer n who was needy because i also left it ambiguous because it could go either way... haunted by the fact that it could go either way. my instinct of course is to make jennifer hsin because when the story starts hsin has already gone off the deep end so to say and he could do jennifers body easily. that's not to say boyd couldn't, its just that evenfall boyd is /such/ a needy. on the other hand, i think about the stuff in early evenfall w Thierry... but then again, Hsin isn't necessarily against weaponizing your sexuality, just against weaponizing it for the agency. sort of a grey area with him morally... honestly not sure how he would feel about seducing men and then killing them but i am like :pleading face:
