so here's what i was thinking about while i was in the shower/what i'm predicting will happen from here on out/how i would write it if i was writing this show

we know a few things from the preview

kant figures out exactly when and where fadel and bison are planning to kill that ruerat guy, essentially handing them to christ on a silver platter but christ has no intentions on letting kant go (at least not yet)

the place fadel and bison are planning to kill him is obviously some kind of charity event for kids/young people

babe is also there, maybe receiving some kind of award or something? either way it's clearly something to do w the charity ruerat is running

fadel and bison are in bear suits, hiding their faces. we know from previous episodes that lilly wants ruerat's death to be a spectacle, so it seems they're planning to kill him right there in front of everyone at the event.

problem is that babe is there. and fadel has never seen babe's face before and won't know him beyond being some random kid. bison obviously does.

fadel makes the shot regardless, either by some kind of accident or bc he thinks he can make the shot without hitting babe (i don't think fadel would purposely shoot knowing he might hit a kid, even if it was just some random one)

bison sees it happen and obviously tries to shove babe out of the way before the bullet can hit, shouting babe's name in the process, potentially outing himself as the one inside the suit if anyone heard him

i'm just thinking out loud from here on out, but the thing is that kant is a good big brother. he's gonna know what's going on with babe, esp if it's some seemingly semi-formal charity event. and if kant knows where this hit is supposed to be, and he knows his brother is also supposed to be attending some charity thing on the same night, he is eventually gonna put two and two together. and then he's going to go running straight to the scene of the crime to make sure babe is safe.

i think this is when kant will 'find out' the truth about bison and fadel. maybe not straight away, but i can see it being like... babe's all shaken up but he tells kant that one of the guys in the bear suits shoved him out of the way of the bullet, but then they disappeared before babe could say thank you. maybe he'll mention that they knew his name. maybe he'll even say that it kinda sounded like bison. and kant will know what that means. he'll know bison jeopardised his hit and also his freedom in order to save kant's brother. (and then i think the emotional floodgates will open fr, bc he's already falling and he'll be so shaken bc it has probably been so easy to convince himself that bison is just some Bad Guy killing indiscriminately but obv that isn't the case. he threw himself in front of a bullet for his brother. how can someone who does that be completely bad?)

i think that kant won't necessarily know that bison got caught by the bullet in the process, not at first, but i think bison will have. the bear suit would hide the blood. bison would try to hide it and pretend everything is normal bc he knows if kant knows he's hurt it'd give him away, esp given he said babe's name. he doesn't realise kant already knows ofc. but there's that scene from the trailer where bison's on the ground gripping on his stomach clearly wounded and in pain and kant's crouched over him worried - i don't think he'll be able to hide it for very long. and there's no explaining away a bullet wound. he'll have no choice but to admit who he is, and what happened. what he almost did.

and maybe he'll give him the whole truth then, about how his parents were killed and lilly took him in and he owes her but he doesn't want to do this anymore, he never did, and this was supposed to be their last job and they would be free and they could be together properly but now everything's messed up and he's sorry, he's so sorry for lying and for putting babe in danger, he just wanted to live a normal life like everyone else but clearly a normal life isn't for someone like him. and maybe kant vows to help him then. promises that they can help each other. (i'll help you start over, we'll take care of each other) and maybe bison believes him, or maybe he doesn't wanna risk putting kant or his brother in danger again but either way he essentially disappears after that.

why? bc it's dangerous for them now. the attempted hit was too big. it was too big of a spectacle. there were too many witnesses. and maybe lilly is after them too for fucking up such an important job, or maybe it's christ that have caught their scent, or maybe it's both, lilly chasing the boys, christ chasing lilly. but either way bison and fadel have to lay very, very low. (this is probably why they don't see the cctv of kant in their secret room - with everything going on, they won't have time to check it) fadel, maybe because he was the gunman, has to go on the run. style goes with him (the scenes of them wandering in fields with fadel wearing a sling w a gun in his hand - maybe he gets caught in the aftermath of the attempted hit too?). bison seemingly stays local, maybe bc he's injured, but he's clearly sneaking around all dressed in black with a hat pulled over his face. kant seems to catch him in a car park, or maybe it's bison that catches kant. they talk it out (i just need to know i'll always be with you/with the way i live, i can't promise you anything) and then seem to still be together (the scene from the trailer where bison seemed hiding in the backseat of kant's car to surprise him with a cheek kiss, but he still had the dark bucket hat on) and probably planning some kind of escape - maybe for all three of them, kant, bison and babe.

atp i still don't think bison will know the truth of what kant had been doing. i also think there will be a sense of kant thinking he's kind of home free in regards to bison. christ will probably still be on his ass, but if he can hold him off for a little while longer then soon they'll be running into the sunset together and bison will never have to know about any of it, right!!! well no, obviously not.

bc i think style is going to fold like a house of cards. he already is, really. and when they're on the run, i can almost guarantee that fadel will have a similar confession to bison's - about his parents, and lilly, and how he wanted out, and prob about whatever the situation with his ex is too - and in turn style will tell fadel the truth about what he and kant have been doing. and style will probably be able to win fadel around, esp considering he wasn't in on it when he approached fadel and they're also isolated w no one else around and he can pester his way back into his good graces, but no way in hell fadel is gonna let what kant's doing to his baby brother go. but the thing is, he can't contact bison right away. it's too dangerous. and so he's gonna have to sit on that information until they meet up again. meanwhile kant and bison are back home planning their great escape together, none the wiser.

then they do meet up, probably by the coast. by a beach. fadel tells bison the truth. bison tells fadel to let him handle it. there's a boat involved. bison walks kant off of it at the sharp end of a gun. but the thing is, i've always thought there was something off about that scene from the trailer. bison doesn't look especially angry. the gun doesn't even follow him down towards the water, which surely it would if he genuinely wanted kant dead. so i don't think it's necessarily anger or revenge that has bison walking kant off the boat, but almost.... a test, maybe?

bc kant is obviously going to plead his case, swearing that although he only approached him bc christ had him over a barrel, he really does love him now, and he really does want a life with him, and he meant everything he said about them starting again together, he swears. and bison, who i do think knows kant is up to something but i keep changing my mind on what exactly he knows and how much, is (imo) not going to be particularly surprised by this revelation. he's not going to be particularly heartbroken or angry, at least not too overtly so. he'd probably been expecting this. and i think he's going to also know, at least to a certain degree, that kant is being honest. bison is discerning. he's clever. i don't believe he's as irrational as everyone thinks he is. and so i think he'll be willing to forgive kant, but not without him suffering a little first, and not without some proof that kant really means what he says.

bc words are one thing, but does kant trust bison enough to go jumping into the ocean - his biggest fear - with his hands tied? does he trust that bison - who has stated multiple times that he's a strong swimmer btw - will dive in and save him? does he trust that bison won't just leave him there to die after what he's done? is he that willing to prove himself to him?

we know kant jumps. we know he doesn't drown. we know at some point kant is getting down on one knee in front of bison. but what exactly happens between him walking him off a boat at gun point and that, i have no fucking clue lmao

bc obviously there's a lot more involved in this than just these four. obviously there's gonna be external forces at play probably revealing massive plot points between all of this (like them finding out lilly killed their parents, which i'm never letting go of btw) that will determine what they do and why. i have no clue what keen's angle is, i don't know how lilly is going to react to them fucking up the ruerat job, and i don't know what the fuck christ's problem is that he wouldn't just take the offering kant gave him when it was practically gift wrapped for him. i have some guesses, but not enough to be like 'oh i can see this happening'. but based on the preview and the few unseen scenes we have left from the trailer, i feel like this is what makes the most sense, at least in regards to kantbison/fadelstyle and their progression. but then again what do i know lmao

dark and chosen are probably on the run at the time, but they end up somehow running into the color gang WAY earlier than they would initially and end up raising them!

The color gang are already friends, but they're more likely than not an outernet stick rather than an internet stick? they don't exactly have any place to stay or parents either????

SC meanwhile is most likely a doodle that escaped from Alan's computer while he wasn't at his desk (still no clue how) but they didn't really know where they were when they were created, and all Alan really knew was that the file disappeared into nothing?

He mostly forgets about it though, since, well. It just kind of vanished. a file can't just do that. and the ALTERNATIVE is not great, because he still remembers dark and chosen.

anyway, the color gang ends up taking in SC as part of their group is the important part!!!

even though i've drawn them meeting because the kids were staying in dark and chosen's house, i actually do think they'd probably scout locations, because i imagine they have a lot of trouble with SC due to them being a hollowhead, and people don't exactly have a great view of hollowheads. you'd think they wouldn't take it out on kids but since TDL is still around and it's been less time since their reign of terror, sticks are a LOT more agitated about it

most likely they run into half the group while the other half (usually green, the other half of the group cycles though) is back holding down the base with SC

anyway Dark and Chosen are actually nice to the kids (because yeah. they get it. being on your own in a world that doesn't like you is scary, esp when you have 0 experience with life) but one of them realizes that they're hollowheads! both of them expect the kids to freak out and run off but actually they're pretty happy to see someone who won't immediately freak out upon seeing SC!

they bring the two over to SC (potentially because SC had been hurt or something) and they're immediately just 'ah, fuck, we can't just leave them here in the city,' so they decide to bring them back to their house!

of course the others insist on being brought along so despite some arguing they do eventually give in, thinking that they'll find somewhere else for them to stay and just let them visit SC every now and then. spoiler alert: this doesn't happen and the CG just ends up living there with them lol

chosen and dark essentially take the group under their wing in everything though, teaching the bunch of them and taking care of them and eventually coming to refer to the group as their honorary siblings due to their friendship with SC! they also take an interest in the crime side of things (much to Chosen's despair and Dark's delight) and they end up causing a lot of terror themselves!

Yellow and Red typically work with the virabots, with Yellow using some other tech as well since Dark encouraged them to work with technology a lot! Red generally does work with any semi-sentient robots though, since they really like doing that stuff!

Blue makes a lot of explosives and stuff! they've accidentally blown up a ton of stuff (including the house multiple times!) and generally is more destruction-based than the others, but they can do controlled destruction if they really have to! Chosen can be a little rough on Blue since they cause a lot of collateral damage, but they're pretty flexible!

Green generally is a melee kind of person who does more focused work or hangs out in the background! they're usually the planner or if a plan needs doing by a specific person, they usually take that over! they do more focused fighting in general!

also, i don't know if i've mentioned this, but Dark doesn't use the Virabands just for Virabots in this au! they actually made the Virabands for the kids!

the virabands override admin permissions on a computer, preventing the sticks from coming to any harm involving a user trying to forcibly quit their programs or any sort of antivirus trying to get rid of them, and also preventing them from being 'tamed' similarly to Chosen!

this will be important later BUT!!!!!! i wanna talk about the gang's relationship with each other first!!! specifically the most interesting ones; yellow and SC!

first off, Yellow is very close with Dark, since they learned almost everything they know from them! they share interests so the two spend a lot of time together! they really value each other's company since they think a lot alike, and it makes things very hard when conflict starts to happen between them.

SC meanwhile is kind of under a lot of pressure! she's kind of considered the baby sibling of the group, and the others are really protective of her, but at the same time, she's under a lot of pressure to unlock her powers! Chosen and Dark are unintentionally kind of suffocating for him, and he can't really get away from them because they still view SC as their fragile little sibling.

SC still can't access their powers, but they can do a minimal amount of electricity if they really try or are particularly stressed. It's not really enough to hurt anyone, but it'll stun you.

SC loves everyone a lot, but finds them pretty overwhelming in general. Also their favorite sibling between the older two is Chosen because Chosen is chill about things and lets them sleep.

It's also worth mentioning that he does really want to seek out his creator! She feels like if she understood why she was made, it'd be easier to get her powers working. He ends up taking an interest in humans despite the other's discouragement, too.

ANYWAY! ALAN! Yes, Alan's here!

They get permission to go to user desktops from Chosen and Dark, so long as they bring things to defend themself with and also tell Chosen and Dark! (they do tend to ask what IP address they're going to, just to make sure, but they don't realize that the kids sometimes computer hop)

and eventually, they find themselves on Alan's computer! Alan isn't able to force quit SC's friends, so it's a lot less heated, but he does end up cornering a lot of them, before SC ends up finding the pencil, and Alan subsequently finds out SC can talk!

after that the whole thing kind of defuses because SC thinks the pencil is cool and Alan not only thinks that SC is great at art, but is also kind of shocked that they can talk! they end up getting along pretty well, and Alan lets them hang out as long as they promise to at least TRY to not break the computer. They're actually a little bit better than they are in canon, but they're still pretty bad about it lol

Alan does kind of become kind of a home away from home for SC in particular, and they end up visiting him a lot to just draw, talk about the things happening back home, help him learn how to draw-- all that stuff! they care about Alan a lot and Alan ends up treating them like an actual person, since it's a lot easier to recognize that they are when they talk about their life outside of the computer.

of course, this can't stay secret forever.

I think that eventually, Dark finds out the CG is at his computer, and tries to wreck his computer completely, even though the others are still on it. Dark's basically lost it on Alan because in their eyes he's manipulating them (and they know that he's capable of that considering they initially were on his side), and the CG is trying to stop them and have to go to Chosen, and it blows up into this whole thing

it's possible Dark actually ends up hurting the others, and SC in return ends up hurting Dark-- not to the degree of what happens in canon but it's just messy and painful for everyone, and the CG kind of have to spend time away from Dark while things cool down, and Chosen kind of has to sweep up the mess and explain everything that's happened, including WHY it was so upsetting

it's kind of messy for everyone to fix, but after realizing that the others trust Alan more after what happens Dark really realizes they completely fucked up, and tries to fix what they did, but it takes time.

they mostly move to Alan's computer for a while, but they eventually do reconcile!

that's all i've got for now but i do like this au a lot, it's one of my favorites thus far i think and i've been having a lot of fun with these guys ✌️

Post I made a while ago about it (might be slightly awkward / messy bc it’s from 2 years ago) :)

Essentially, at the end of bbs Vanitas and ven have a “battle of hearts” (similar to Roxas and sora in kh2) and Vanitas, as the weaker heart, loses and retreats back into his “origin”, ven’s heart. We see sparkles dissipate into vens stain glass, signifying that Vanitas has become embedded into ven’s heart. THEN ven becomes embedded in Sora’s heart, thus making a sort of matryoshka effect inside of sora;

sora<-(inside, ven [<-inside, vanitas])

Cut to ddd where sora is DEEP inside his own heart and thus coming across a lot of shit embedded within. Including Vanitas who appears as a fractured vision saying Sora’s heart is a prison “even if he’s not the prisoner.” Upon hearing this most people’s immediate thought would be *terra/aqua voice* ven!! But most people miss the hidden layer (cleverness intended) that would also mean Vanitas since he’s inside ven. Of course if someone is locked inside a prisoner in jail that also means they’re in the prison, whether them also being locked up was intentional or not

Cut to kh3. The first instance we see Vanitas is monsters inc. but we don’t see Vanitas first, we see the manifestation of his power because as he explains he needed enough energy to come back to life. The clever part about this is this only happens because sora is there with ven in his heart, thus physically bringing Vanitas’s heart to a place where he can regenerate and, if the plan works out, extract himself/ven from Sora’s body. There’s an extra bonus that the power becomes even more potent by upsetting sora and therefor having a STRONG sense of negativity which had been building in our poor boy all game, and as Ansem The Wise said, sora is able to make things be real and that means he was able to make Vanitas come back to life without whatever Xehanort did to make him, even though he didn’t mean to

Then Vanitas gets bodied by scully and thrown into a door, seemingly gone forever

Then like 3 seconds later we see him again in the land of departure. But. Wait. Didn’t scully just throw him to somewhere in Connecticut?

Act II: The second Vanitas

This Vanitas is a replica Xehanort pulled from the post. Xehanort had no fucking clue where Vanitas went after bbs bc he just disappears and honestly he clearly didn’t care because hes always known could just make another one so he does. The reason I know this isn’t monsters inc Vanitas is because one that’s impossible, it was 100% intentional this scene happens after yeetus Vanitas, and two Vanitas acts. Different. For one he’s much more brazen than he was in MI, instead of just his long winded monologuing he’s actually goading them on and being arrogant and feisty and trying to fight, immediately transporting us back to the kind of personality he had before. You know. Ven kicked his ass. And he also teleports and does magic and is way stronger than MI Vanitas because that Vanitas had just formed. There’s no possible way he had all his strength back after being rebirthed for 3 seconds so the fact that he was able to hold his own against aqua who’s been fighting nonstop for 10 years definitely raises an eyebrow and points to this theory because how was that possible and why didn’t he fight in MI if this was the case.

Some people have pointed out that it’s weird Vanitas wears a cloak of darkness in MI and thinking about it I think there’s two answers. The first is he was weak and I think it’s possible the cloak could protect him, esp if he’s not fully darkness anymore bc he has his own heart, has regenerated on his own instead of being extracted by Xehanort’s dark power, and was touched by two very powerful lights for like 10 years (they probably got their light cooties on him lol) and two, I think he was hiding from Xehanort. Vanitas likely knew of his plan since his conception even though he might not have fully understood was it was and therefore he would’ve known what was going on in kh3 and been like “shit. I’m not following the plan bc I’m not even a part of the plan anymore so Xehanort can’t find out.” Because if you remember in com DiZ says the cloaks can hide you from anyone and if Xehanort knew Vanitas was back he would at the very least force him to do his plan again or at the worst destroy him because he’s an unknown factor

Then sora fights replica Vanitas and he goes back into the past and somewhere out there Vanitas is walking around the streets of New York (or shibuya) having no clue what the fuck is going on

So yes. Two Vanitases bc we can’t get enough of this boy. Two of them

hey girl! happy to—the buccal fat removal was pretty simple compared to the other surgeries, but it was still very painful. as i understand it, the surgeon made incisions on the inside of both of my cheeks, and entered that way, and sucked out the “buccal fat yolk,” as he called it. he explained to me that there’s a pouch of fat there that is yolk-like, and does not usually disappear, even with dramatic weight loss, except in cases of extreme malnutrition where there is no reserve left. that’s how he put it, anyway.

so, he essentially stabbed inside my cheeks through up where the “cheek fat” was, just under my cheekbones, and sucked the fat through those incisions and stitched them from the inside. it was, as i said, extremely painful, and eating and drinking was very difficult for a long time. the scars are inside my cheeks and i can still feel them if i run my tongue over them.

the entire cheek area on both sides, inside and out, is mostly numb. sort of like… when Novocain has started to wear off at the dentist.

but i get sudden, electrifying wallops of pain where the buccal fat used to be at completely random times. i get at least one or two a day. it is pretty agonizing, ngl. it feels like instantaneous nerve pain, if you’ve ever had a dentist nick a nerve on a sensitive tooth. it runs through the cheek into my sinuses and down into my gums and it takes my breath away. when these episodes first started happening i genuinely thought i was having a stroke.

i get a lot of migraines now (brow and temple) and my jaw sits really uncomfortably—i’m always having to bite my inner cheeks or suck my cheeks in manually, or else they become fatigued.

a good experiment is—try to hold your mouth open as long as you can. just—open like a crocodile. as wide as you can go, until your cheeks reach the utmost point of fatigue. that’s what it feels like all the time if i try to relax my face—unless i am constantly drawing in my cheeks or making a “duck face,” my cheeks feel fatigued. i don’t know why—maybe they’re strained without the fat there to support them. collapsing, i guess.

it’s really uncomfortable tbh. i’ve gotten used to it, but it sucks.

and it just looks weird as hell too. all it did was age me and make me look dehydrated and starved.

ykw, i guess it really has affected how i do everything with my mouth and facial expressions. they all had to change in some way to accommodate the new “dimensions.” i wish i could show a before and after pic, bc i had a ton of nice healthy buccal fat and now i just look soooo hollowed out and honestly i look so bad lol. i smile differently, i make all my expressions differently. what feels “natural” is kind of weird—cheeks sucked in manually, or lips sucked into my mouth manually. biting of upper and lower lips into the mouth. just… a constant need to draw the face inward to relieve the cheek fatigue.

which leads me to say that once again there does not seem to be a resting position for my face anymore. it’s a neverending strain on the cheek muscles. maybe that’ll change over time—or maybe i’ll strengthen the cheek muscles with facial yoga, idk. but for now it’s a constant nagging need to keep my cheeks sucked in or my lips drawn into my mouth, like this…

…so that they’re supported in some way from the fatigue. idk, it’s really weird. hate it.

the sudden pains are pretty bad too esp bc i never know when they’ll happen. there’s no trigger, really, but i have noticed that cold or hot drinks/foods mean they’ll happen within the half hour. the worst is when they happen WHILE i’m drinking hot coffee or am mid-chew in food. i’ve almost choked a few times that way, lol. super annoying.

kento nakajima. cis man. he/him. bisexual. ⇝ hey, isn’t that sho tsukidate? i think that the thirty year old from kawagoe, japan works as a (very much unlicensed) private investigator, but outside of that people describe them as winding city backstreets where secrets lie in wait; a knowing smirk gracing clever lips; paperwork piled high and precarious, ready to collapse, on an untidy desk; the impatient tip-tap of painted nails, the varnish starting to fade and chip, against the table . i hear they are nosy & temperamental, but they are also known to be analytical & spontaneous . consider giving them a visit at their home in delilah's den gated community and get to know why they’re called the occult detective.

TW: disappearances/kidnapping, mild violence, implied bullying

TO START OFF REAL QUICK, if you've been keeping up and reading intros, you may recall that SHO is actually a character i've previously brought up & who is mentioned pretty extensively in rika's intro. i'm probably not going to waste too much time talking about his connection to rika, just because i've covered it before, so you can go check that out for more context! but the tldr is that they were running a slightly scammy fortune telling business until he set his sights on the mysteries of anchorage and they both agreed to move to alaska. except something came up and he ditched her. this went down at the end of 2022 and he's finally showing his face. also, this is very long, sorry. obviously, i'd prefer if you read the backstory (and at the very least, the basics section is very important) but a tldr for his backstory is that he was inspired to become a private detective by the mysterious disappearance of his best friend when they were both 15, an event for which sho was present but of which he has no memory. he's very invested in weird mysteries, esp where missing people are concerned, and has moved to anchorage for that reason. he used to work with rika. she kinda hates him for ditching her in achorage a year and a half ago. finally, please note that the stuff about sho's family & fortune telling isn't super heavily based in anything...real?? in sho's original plotline, he was a witch so i'm honestly trying to create some satisfactory parallels.

BASICS.

his full name is sho tsukidate ( 月館祥 ) and he doesn’t go by any nicknames since sho is already short and easy enough on its own. he was born 8th july, 1994 in kawagoe and was officially living in shibuya, tokyo until recently.

sho comes from a fortune-telling family; that is to say that they have long, long historical roots in the world of divination and even curses and the like. maybe a long, long time ago, they worked as onmyouji. nowadays, they're based in kawagoe, a town saitama prefecture known for its preservation of its edo-period architecture from when it used to be a castle town. a sort of old-timey business like this fits in well there.

he's fluent in japanese and english, having learned the latter to help with his work. he also speaks very basic tagalog but he's not especially confident. sho is of filipino descent on his mother's side, while his father is japanese. due to the historical fortune-telling family thing, he was mostly immersed in the customs and culture of his father's family but he does feel a certain connection to his maternal roots.

he works as a private detective. it's of not that sho has little faith in the judicial system and he doesn’t like the police. to be honest, he’s not even that interested in serving justice. although he calls himself a detective, his work is mostly based around helping people solve mysteries or find things. essentially, he loves a good mystery and he’s a nosy bastard. BUT he also has the skills to justify sticking his nose in other people’s business. that said, he doesn't usually go out of his way to help people unless they're paying him OR he's genuinely intrigued. (and, whenever there's an exception to this rule and his heart just genuinely starts to bleed...well, we don't need to talk about it after it's happened, okay? don't cramp his style.)

he’s a huge flirt. he doesn’t really hit on people so to speak, mostly because he’s not actually hoping the flirting will get him anywhere, but he likes attention so…y’know. winks more often than any normal person should. it's less...that he actively flirts with people and more that he's just kind of Like That. unless he's working a case or trying to get information out of someone-- in that case, it's always deliberate and he IS trying to butter them up. he’s not a perv bc that’s just not…funny or interesting to me.

that said, outside of this Charming Guy act, sho's actually...pretty irritable and very impatient. he has something of a sarcastic streak and can be pretty sardonic if he wants to. he's not a cruel or mean-spirited person but he has a little teeeeeeny bit of a temper and gets a little snippy if he's in the wrong mood <3 but he usually moves right past it and pretends it didn't happen, to everyone else's frustration.

that said, he does NOT like to shut up. he likes the sound of his own voice. if you thought some of my current muses were chronic yappers, sho probably has them all beat, purely because he KNOWS he's talking a lot instead of just getting carried away; he just doesn't care that you're sick of him. in fact, he even has a clause in his contract for when people hire him that says that, if you find him annoying, you’re just going to have to get over it.

he gets REALLY into the cases he’s solving if they’re interesting enough so, uhhhhh, be prepared for him to dump everything he hunts on you. he’s actually GOOD at his job and solving cases but he also tends to get carried away with his imagination so it might be a while before he reels himself in and gets focused on the actual point :/ he sort of falls into the whole eccentric detective category, i guess, but it's just not quite as obvious at first glance.

he keeps pet mice. this doesn't really fit in with the rest, it's just important to me.

KAWAGOE.

Taking over the family business, keeping tradition alive, doing whatever everyone else did generation after generation after generation...that was never really Sho's style. Not like he got much of a say in it, having been trained and tutored in everything he needed to know from a young age. Of course the other kids at school were going to think he was weird. Elementary school was an...experience. He was too overconfident for anyone to pick on him and he had no problem making friends.

By junior high, he powered through it; sure, he was weird but he smart and good at sports and wouldn't have looked out of place in some teeny-bopper boyband. In other words, he was pretty popular. But he wasn't stupid, he came to realise that, although the adults around him were fond of him and treated him kindly, they had always kept him at arm’s length, watching with a careful eye in case something happened. They had always been suspicious of him. They had been afraid of him.. Sure, he was admired but was he genuinely liked? Or was everyone just a little suspicious? After all, it turned out his family weren't just known for their quirky little fortune telling business. Instead, they'd been followed by years of bad will, a strange mistrust that went back further than any living descendant could recall. How petty. How pointless. Surely, that had nothing to do with Sho. He didn't even want to be involved.

Sho made up one quarter of a close friend friendship, consisting of four boys his age; two kids from his own school and Hayato Kamo, the son of a wealthy friend of his parents (who officially lived over in Tokyo but had no issue hanging out in Kawagoe with the others when they all had free time). The group had no hierarchy or leaders, they were all in equal standing, but Sho and one other friend, Yuuki, were particularly close; best friends attached at the hip, almost like brothers and rarely was one seen without the other. A team to the end.

Except the end came way sooner than it was supposed to, didn't it? They were fifteen years old when Yuuki suddenly went missing. Sho, who was never far from Yuuki's side had been there that day too. He'd witnessed the whole thing, in fact. Only, he didn't remember a single moment of it. No matter how hard he tried, Sho could not remember what had happened that day and the absence of it filled his mind like a great black puddle of ink, swallowing up whatever had been written beneath. There was so much about that day he remembered, the biting chill of the Autumn wind against his face and the crisp scent of browning leaves in the air, the stupid conversation they’d been having moments before it all happened and the blunt throbbing ache in his skull when he came to, but it was as though anything that mattered had been wiped away. The two boys had been together one moment and the very next, Sho was lying face down in the dirt with nobody else around to help him put the pieces together. And his best friend was gone.

Of course, the suspicion fell on the kid with the family nobody trusted. Big fucking surprise. That wasn't the issue, Sho could handle that. The problem was when his own peers, kids his own age, started to look at him sideways too, when he started to hear whispers about what Sho wasn't telling them (there was nothing he wasn't telling! if he could tell, he would! if he knew ANYTHING--) He was left alone save for his two remaining friends and even those days were numbered. Although Hayato, had taken Sho’s side from the start and stayed there, the other had grown to resent Sho and he was not secretive about it. Having been through quite too much already for one handful of weeks, it only took a few barbed insults for Sho to snap. Sho had never meant to break his nose. He didn’t think he’d even hit him all that hard. Of course, it's the way you punch a person and the speed at which you do it that makes a world of difference, even if you’re a scrawny, rage-blind teenager, but Sho hadn't known that then.

But that been the final nail in the coffin. Nobody was gonna trust him now. Sho wasn't popular anymore. A problem child, a dangerous spitfire liable to attack at any moment. The kids at school wouldn't look at him. If they did acknowledge him, it was never for any good reason. Finally, it was decided he'd transfer schools and off he went to live with Hayato's family in Tokyo; as a kind gesture, the Kamo parents agreed to pay for Sho's schooling at the fancy school Hayato attended. Sho still didn't fit in, refusing to politely rub shoulders with the rich kids, but being a delinquent among the wealthy was better than being a pariah.

Sho is one of the only people who even believes Yuuki still alive. He’s not sure why he believes so strongly that this is the case but there’s a gut feeling. Something he can’t place.

SHINJUKU, TOKYO.

Sho and Hayato managed to graduate high school without any further issues, besides the dark cloud of grief hanging over their heads, even if Sho still hasn't agree to let go of his convictions. Hayato goes to University but Sho decides to hold back and wait until he knows for sure what he wants to do. All the same, the pair also land jobs at a bookstore owned by Hayato's aunt, the nephew working part-time while Sho takes on a full-time cashier role. It's an odd little shop, specialising in the occult, and it fits Sho just fine. Not quite ambitious or fulfilling enough for his tastes but he figures it probably makes sense he'd wind up somewhere like this.

He stays at the shop for about four years before quitting at the age of twenty-two. In that time, he'd been working on setting up a personal project; it had started as him picking the brains of troubled looking customers and taking it upon himself to try and solve their problems. With time, he realised he was good at figuring this stuff out. Really good. And he learns pretty quick that there’s something cathartic about helping people find the answers they need when you can’t find your own. He knows what it’s like to have nobody to turn to and, if he can help others find closure, that’s better than nothing. Eases the survivor’s guilt a little bit. So, up and off he went one day, leaving the bookshop behind to set up business as a private detective, occasionally specialising in the unusual and slightly occult.

At least, that had been the dream. Very quickly, he find himself taking on more boring old adultery cases. There are only so many times you can catch middle-aged dudes cheating on their wives before the work starts to get monotonous. He'd still been hanging out at the bookstore from time to time, mostly just to bother Hayato at work, and it was there that he'd run into an intriguing young woman. She'd been his immediate replacement after he quit and she claimed to have a talent for predictions; well, no, that's not how she'd put it and, if anything, she'd really played the whole thing down but Sho was nonetheless intrigued by Rika Hoshino and her weird gift. He makes a deal with her, they'll start a pseudo-fortune telling business together, using her gifts and his knowledge of the field combined with his detective skills. It works out pretty well. (and everything from this point is in rika's intro so i'm too lazy to repeat myself. go read it pls. flutters my eyelashes at you.)

At some point, Sho develops an interest in mysteries father afield; in particular, he's intrigued by the town of Anchorage in Alaska and its reputation for its citizens going missing, as well as the townspeople's apparent apathy towards this fate. (Don't ask how he got all this information, he has his channels). At first, it's just a passing interests but he becomes stuck on it. Can't shake it off. Something about it reminds me too much of his own history with unexplained missing people. So, he sets out to move there and try to figure out the place for himself. He invites Rika along, of course, promising that they can set up shop there and solve this mystery together. After all, it seems like Rika's got a good knack for this stuff too.

He's in the middle of a case when he sends Rika off to Anchorage, swearing that he'll catch up with her when he's done. That day doesn't come; the case goes south, Sho gets into a lot of messy trouble, gets his ass beat by gangsters. It's a whole thing. And it's enough to throw a spanner in the works, that's for sure. And, then, around the same time, he thinks he's found a lead on the Yuuki case. He knows he can't let this chance bypass him so he drops Rika an email, apologises for not being able to show his face. That was the end of that. Anchorage was a pipe dream and he's already moved on.

ANCHORAGE

Or, so he thought. Look, we don't need to get into all the details of what happened with that other case. What matters is that shit has calmed down and his mind is back on Anchorage, enough that he's finally dragged himself across the world to check the place out. Sure, he's got some apologies to make where Rika is concerned but that's not the point.

Already, he's back at work as a private detective. Maybe he'll get another job, depending on how this works out for him in a small town like this, but the most important thing is that he doesn't let slip why he's really here; that the mystery in which he's most invested is just Anchorage itself. He may make a living off snooping around in other people's business but even he knows that nosiness gets a person killed.

i’m still bummed out, that we barely got any info on kyalee and caleb in the game. i understand, that they didn’t had a lot of time or smth, but some extra note or whatever else would have been nice. and as for censorship, it’s pretty logical, that they didn’t showed werewolves bits. usually death/gore gets a free way, where sex or anything related to it might get flagged. 

and well, travis indeed does have more scenes in canon, but i also suppose, that he’s just the type of character, a lot of people gravitate toward. i love travis as well, but i wouldn’t have written anything for him specifically tbh. and oh, i’ve heard of that show and seen it around, but i never watched it lol. 

well, there is always smth precious about having memories like this. so chris in part, keeps those tapes for memory sake. as well, as for prob looking at ryan closely and finding new things about him, that he didn’t notice before. a lot of stuff, that chris does while creepy, seems to be mostly harmless, but it won’t stay this way forever. not when ryan is about to make everything worse. as for ryan appreciating such kind of dedication to his person or not, well, it can go two ways. for one, atm, he’s a bit uneasy at how different chris sometimes is, and how it sort of collides with the ideal imagery, that ryan made of the man. and there is a saying, that basically goes like this ‘if you put someone onto a pedestal, you lose the chance to understand them’. and that’s true. esp bc in a way, ryan does all the lying for chris. he does a lot of damage control, just bc he’s unwilling to consider, that maybe, mister h is kinda messed up lol. sure, he notices things, but he’s also willing to ignore a lot of possible implications there. which in return gives chris more ‘freedom’, more leeway to as per usual justify himself to a degree, when he does smth weird lol. they’re quite a disaster, honestly. and well, ryan is the clingiest one, but chris clings to him in other ways. it’s hard for him to stay away, when he’s literally being offered some of those things. and for sure, there will be more possessiveness in this fic vs in ASB, where it was touched upon, but not really explored. and welp, chris is a fatherly figure sort of man, and he essentially thinks, that he’s a very bad person, inside his mind he deserves it. but with this mindset in place, he also accidentally often ignores what ryan wants and really thinks. in WCA, he sorta just decided it all by himself, which led ryan to have a bit of a wtf moment there. so it’s like ‘do what’s better for ryan. without actually asking ryan about it’ lol. naturally, he means well, but also like, yeeeeah, not cool, dude. 

i imagine, that ryan be the same way. he knows how to handle campers, knows a bit about the woods and how not to start the forest fire, but that’s pretty much it, haha. for chris, who lived his whole life in a place like north kill, it all seems to be familiar and normal. but ryan will be in for a wild ride. besides, he’d never been this close to chris or spent this much time around him, outside the work. it could have been a very good slow-burn, esp when chris would still disappear once in months, but this time, ryan might actually try to track him. that’s aside, i always find the idea of ryan trying very-very hard to act normal around kyalee and caleb, and pretend like he doesn’t have a crush on their dad is hilarious. kyalee’s and caleb’s dad is really kinda rad, he’s all i want and i want him so bad. okay, sorry, i had to. this song is hilarious. and for sure, caleb and kyalee would crush into ryan’s new place, have sleepovers and movie nights. bring beer and prob weed, which ryan disapproves of, but will give in due to peer pressure lol. as for their secret, idk. caleb and chris would be unwilling to tell. but kyalee just might crack one day, esp bc she trust ryan. but she also might re-think it at the last moment, bc it would bring more problems, than relief. tho tbf, ryan would prob think, that it’s kinda cool, that they’re werewolves. he loves paranormal stuff.

How do you think Kaylee and Caleb think about Ryan and Chris? In ASB, Kaylee was trying to subtly push them together a bit, so I got to wondering how they view Ryan liking Chris and their dad liking Ryan. This sent me down a mini rabbit hole of thoughts that somehow led me to thinking, "Does Chris have something like a knot like in popular werewolf fiction?" I honestly can't remember how I got to wondering about that, and idk how it'd even work either, lmao.

Then, from that thought, I naturally jumped to the next randomised one, which was wondering about how Chris spent the year when Ryan wasn't there? The tapes he has of Ryan wandering around and staring into space got me thinking that maybe he'd watch those sometimes? They have eachothers phone number, too, so they call like they did a bit in ASB. It was just interesting to think about in the context of GP because the nature of their relationship is different. Chris has his obsession, and Ryan atm isn't quite on the same level rn, but he's still pretty fixated on Chris. With these things in mind, I just wondered how it might change how Chris feels/reacts to Ryan's absence during the off-season of camp.

Then, finally, I thought, "What if Ryan stayed with Chris during the off-season?" Idk what the circumstances would be, but Ryan just doesn't go home or doesn't live with his family anymore? I was thinking about what they'd do, obviously with Chris's parents around, he can't bring Ryan to the house. So they'd be at the lodge, or at least Ryan would be. It leaves a lot of room for potential domestic fluff or smut. Without the campers and counsellors around, Ryan would truly be in the wolfs den. I'd imagine Kaylee and Caleb might visit more without the noisy campers and nosy counsellors there.

i’d say, that they prob don’t think about it too deeply. like, ryan’s crush is pretty clear to everyone, who bothers to inspect his and chris’s relationships for more, than 2 minutes. but while kyalee thinks, that it’s fun and might be good for chris, i feel like caleb sort of avoids the topic. and not bc the hates the idea of it, more so, bc it’s very awkward lol. i mean, he’s the older out of the 3. he views ryan on the same level as kyalee, like as someone, who’s clearly younger than him. and his sister has a habit of having new, non-serious crushes pretty often. so he might assume, that ryan is the same in that regard. like that he’s confused or smth. and then, chris is his dad, who he considers to be good-natured, but a bit lame. not to mention, that ryan is around the same age category as them, and learning that your father is a ‘dirty old man’ surely doesn’t help, haha. so yeah, caleb would try to not dig too deeply into it. and nope, chris doesn’t have it, haha. i mean, in human form surely not. in werewolf one, he prob does, haha. but i struggle to imagine ryan surviving such an encounter tbh. 

ah, that’s a good question. i imagine, that chris has a lot to do around the campground, even when no one is around. then, he and the rest of the hacketts prob try to track down silas and all that business as well. but i feel like, chris doesn’t really believe, that they would ever find him. one would imagine, that it’ll be travis, who low-key gave up on everything, when in fact, trying to kill silas is in part of what keeps him going. compared to this, chris has a more cynical view on it. at least, in my fanon, haha. i guess, i always picture him as a guy, who really wants to help others, but considers himself to be beyond help. or maybe, not even worthy of it. i mean, i feel like while fandom adores fawning over travis’s situation, no one ever considers why chris had to be the one, who runs the camp. i don’t think, that it was a gift from his parents. i actually, assume that he was ‘trusted’ (read conditioned) into that position, bc travis was always a scapegoat of the fam, but in a way, he was ‘let go’. he could do whatever, bc no one cared all that much, which is still pretty bad, don’t get me wrong. but with this in mind, and added fact, that bobby is clearly the favorite child, it would mean that chris was automatically put into position, where literally no one, but him could ‘inherit’ the hackett’s quarry. and where he had to be the one to have a family, and be ‘the ideal man’ or whatever. all eyes were on him, bc there were things expected from him. nothing was expected from bobby. and in a way, from travis as well, but for different reasons clearly. with this being said, i don’t think that chris had it ‘worse’ than travis or smth, it’s just that he had to suffer through different sorts of parental pressure and most likely abuse too. travis has a stockholm syndrome toward his family, and chris was basically conditioned into filling the role, that no one else could. sorry, tangled up, haha. 

but like with all this in consideration, it’s fairly easy to imagine why he would get so obsessed with ryan. and yeah, he for sure would rewatch the tapes, and enjoy phone talks, that they have. he never had anything like this before. a thing to truly look forward to. his kids are adults, so in all fairness, they no longer need him like they used to, and i feel like chris gets very aimless, when there is nothing for him to do, no one to care for, bc he has no idea how to live for himself at all. and yeah, in GP ryan’s and chris’s levels of obsession are a bit different. i suppose, partly bc chris’s mental state is also worse, than it was in ASB. he tries his best still, but cracks are starting to show more and more often. as for how he feels, when ryan is not around for months, i think that it’s a tricky question. chris is party terrified of himself and what he can do, so rational part of him says, that it’s good that ryan is far away from him, and that it might be better if he never comes back. but then, he also always longs for him to be back all the same. need vs care. obsession vs common sense. chris is very morale dualed, haha. esp when it comes to ryan. but i feel like, he’s prob one of the rare kinds of characters, who can overpower his own selfishness more often, than not. like, if i had to put all my supermassives otps into situation, where they had a choice to basically keep their ‘better half’ with them or have a chance to let them go with hope, that they can do better, that it would essentially be better for them, only chris and andrew would be capable of smth like lmao. everyone else, ryan included, would have the ugliest tantrum imaginable. even john with a similar level of self-hatred as chris, wouldn’t have been able to stop himself from being terribly selfish and keep andrew, no matter what it would have taken. this is partly why chris was okay with ryan killing him in WCA. he just assumed, well, it would be better for ryan. kinda a dick move tho. like ryan killed people for him, and he then, asks him to shot him lmao. 

and oh, funny enough, i had un-used plot, where ryan gets kicked out of the house by his mother. idk, where his grandparents are. maybe, they don’t exist in that au or they’re not close. so as result, ryan literally has nowhere to go. he asks kyalee and caleb, if they can hook him up with some temporary place, until he finds a job and will get out of their hair. but naturally, they call him an idiot and say, that he can just stay on the campground during that time, chris won’t mind. i imagine, that ryan would ask them to not tell chris why he’s here, make up some story. it also leaves a lot places for humor, bc ryan is city kid, he doesn’t know much about life in the country. but chris be there to teach him. so yeah, they would spent a lot of time together. just two of them. kyalee and caleb would also indeed have a chance to hang out with ryan more often, show him around and such. for a while everything will be alright with the world. which is smth that i really about the quarry tbh. their set-up is so deceptively cozy.

anyway so my fanmade avdol backstory

i think avdol comes from a standuser family like the joestars essentially. like you know how stands are implied to be inheritable? it's like that for avdol's family particularly on avdol's father's side. as such avdol's father kinda expects his kids to jsut have stands. but until they do he doesnt pay attention to them. he's like kakyoin in that he thinks nonstandusers are beneath him. i dont think he's necessarily a cruel man but he def has issues with seeing how he fits with everyone else. he doesnt try to bond with anyone unless they prove theyre worth his attention first via having a stand (im still toying with whether i think avdol's mom has a stand outright but she can at least see stands)

anyway so avdol is born. then his sister is born

since avdol's dad is distant with them, avdol's grandma (on dad's side) essentially takes the role of the second parent. avdol loves her so much (as does his sister)

avdol unlocks magician's red when he got angry about something. probably his dad being gone again and avdol is pissed about it and when his grandma tries to calm him down he refuses and it explodes out of him via magician's red. i think the lines on his cheeks are burn scars cause he was crying while it was happening (first from anger then from fear) and the water boiled and burned into his skin cause of the flames. avdol's grandma soothes him and helps calm him down and shows him her stand. he's not evil, he jsut doesnt know how to use it. avdol still wonders if maybe he's an exception on the evilness thing (which is why he's so sympathetic re jotaro)

so avdol now has a stand and his dad takes great interest in him, esp cause it's so powerful. this makes his sister incredibly sad and jealous cause it used to be her and avdol against the world esp against their dad, and now he's abandoned her too. she eventually deflates and mourns and avdol feels bad but also his dad is rubbing off on him and he tells his sister "it's not your fault you just aren't as equal to him as me" and this ruins her. it makes her sotp trying.  this is lethal cause then when her stand does try to seep in, her mind rejects it because she think it's not possible. thus she starts dying from stand sickness. avdol is frantic and goes on a journey of his own to try and find someone, anyone that could help her, cause his dad doesnt care enough to find someone (he's not uncaring that she's sick but he's like "she'll get better if she earns it" cause again, he has issues). btw that blatant disregard for her is what makes avdol question his dad's teachings

anyway so he gors on an adventure which is how he meets all the standusers he later knows in sdc. they can't really help him cause they dont care about saving a "weak little girl" but they like avdol and respect him and they refer him to the next stnaudser guy. this is shady business though and eventually leads to meeting enyaba in india. enyaba takes note of his potential and says "sure i'll help you look for a cure..."

while they search together, she names avdol's stand magician's fury. anyway so while theyre in india and searching around for something avdol doesnt even know exists, he meets and makes friends with nonstandusers. enyaba doesnt like this and eventually kills some of them to use as puppets for the dirty work. avdol doesnt find out about that right away he just knows suddenly some of his friends disappeared. his remaining friends tell him that enyaba is fucked but avdol is like nooo she can't be she said she was gonna help me cure my sister and they kinda look at each other like mohammed...

well. it turns out enyaba was not helping avdol but in fact was using him to help HER find a stand arrow. when they find it she's like hah! awesome. okay go home now and avodl is like wait what. she’s like oh come on you can’t have honestly expected me to be searching for a way to cure weakness right? so they have a fight and avdol almost dies. his friends save him though. they get him back to india and treat his wounds and avdol shows up just in time to be by his sister's bedside when she passes from stand sickness. avdol tried telling her it doesnt matter if she has a stand she's not lesser after all, standusers can be cruel and grimy and wormy just like anyone else, and that nonstandusers can be brave and heroic and kind, and it doesnt matter, it doesnt, it doesn't, but it's too late and she dies cause se had been listening to avdol’s dad’s rhetoric the whole time she was sick and it just. it was too little too late.

avdol never really recovers after that and it's part of why he puts on that polite, well-composed mask. he never wants to be presumptuous again, never wants to be the reason someone feels that way again, so he always hears people out and he always gives more chances than he maybe should

anyway his grandma renames his stand "magician's red" btw after the funeral when she sees avdol’s stand again (it used to be orange but it changed to red after his sister died cause red was her favorite color). she tells avdol now she’ll always be a part of his soul and he can fight with her strength still and avdol cries and cries and cries and she helps him. yeah

would his takeover then mean an overturn of their radical beliefs on muggles and muggleborns, similar to his political leanings in ttdl, and how would that then be accepted by the death eaters and some of the more prejudiced ones like bellatrix who truly believe in it

hm that's a question that could be answered in a *lot* of different ways, mainly depending on specific worldbuilding (and also who's writing it lol) - so for the specific circumstances informing my answer, i'll go with 'same worldbuilding etc as ttdl, but regulus takes the mark with this strategy instead of forming his own side at school'

(but other circumstances could be very interesting as well!!)

so in this scenario, i think regulus would *reorient* the death eaters really drastically, without ever outright saying 'btw you're fighting for a blood traitor now' (at least, not until the war is basically over lol. he is surrounded by people who are accustomed to murdering blood traitors and he's not interested in making horcruxes so like. self preservation lmao)

he'd essentially be like 'we're changing priorities, this is about DARK versus LIGHT, we do not give a shit about the blood status of random plebeians who will never enter our social circles, we care about DUMBLEDORE AND HIS FOLLOWERS'

the specific worldbuilding of ttdl means that there is a not-insignificant fraction of death eaters who are ambivalent on blood purity (or at least, it's not the reason why they joined) - what they really care about is dark arts. so regulus would be aiming to take advantage of that

but at the same time, he'd have to maintain the illusion of being a blood purist just to like. retain their respect and their. servitude. lol. it's just that he would have to be like 'ummmmmm why should i care about them :////// this war is dumbledore's fault'

i think he'd still get pushback from people like bellatrix, esp because that means suddenly they can't have their super fun friday night torture sessions if they're not kidnapping random muggles and muggleborns - how regulus deals with that depends on the manner of his takeover

the death eaters are accustomed to mostly-unquestioning servitude to voldemort, but regulus is not voldemort, and it would take some time for him to be able to command them in the same way - if that's even how he wants to run this side. which it probably is because that's efficient

so he'd probably need to be scaling *back* on the blood purity aspect of the war, rather than just cutting it of, and then eventually it's just. gone and people only sort of noticed it disappearing

this would be a regulus who has to play a very specific version of himself at all times - namely, the version we see in chapter. 35, i think? the one where he has tea with bellatrix and narcissa and walburga. he's aided by barty being ride-or-die and joining the death eaters with him, evan wandering into the death eaters a bit later but just in time to start subtly making people question voldemort's background and why the fuck he looks like that, and probably also lucius and narcissa, who can see the writing on the wall

and he would have the world's most complicated relationship with sirius

because - regulus LITERALLY supplanted voldemort and is lowkey letting fanatical blood purists run amok while he figures out how to point them towards dumbledore. there is no reason for sirius to be a fan of. uh. ANY of that.

Okay so I've been wanting to read more of your writing forever but haven't really had the chance bc. Busy. But recently I started reading a ton of your little oneshots for fic fights and whatnot (you are putting out so much high quality writing in such a short period of time like WOW you are such an incredible writer jcufych) and I'm so so glad I did!

Your writing has this super smooth and effortless flow to it, like when I'm reading your works the voice disappears into the background entirely and melds with the story in this way that allows the reader to naturally observe the actions of the characters without feeling impeded by the writing's status as fiction if that makes sense??? It probably doesn't but you get it? Essentially your talent w/ voice makes me scream into my pillow in a good way ✌️

You have such an amazing grasp of character and all of your protrayals feel incredibly alive and well researched, you embody the actual established emotions and personal conflicts of every character you include in your works while also revealing interesting and new depths that I so so wish were canon and,,,, like,,,,, ughhhh bro when you write the vestiges esp I just go so so so feral! You also have this really unique talent for conveying emotion through writing, esp in terms of literary mood. Your happy pieces never fail to make me smile, and whenever you write suspense, I'm right there on the edge of my seat alongside the characters. Also your plots??? Gosh you are SO good at coming up with compelling original plots and following through with them in a way that lives up to their premises, like everything you write feels so premeditated and complex and just,,,, yxhdycychc!!!

I finally moved houses!!! it was an Ordeal but I'm finally mostly unpacked and now that my house isn't Box Hell anymore I'm falling more in love with it every day

I turned 28!

this was my "your driver's license expired ❤️ love, the government" birthday so I got to have a fun trip to the DMV, which did strip me of dignity and fill me with rage bc not only did they not give me my real ID (despite my bringing the documents that they literally approved online during the preapproval process!!! and might I add, the literal only documents I had to bring because this was 2 days after I moved and I didn't have any mail yet at my new address) they ALSO did not give me my renewed license (bc apparently I have to retake the written exam?? for some reason??? that they didn't tell me and ofc I didn't pass bc why would I, a person without a car or a child, know what age children need to be to not have to be in special protective restraints in california) so thanks for that waste of an entire-ass day off and also $50 in uber fees I guess

also I did all of this while PANICKING about my taxes bc I actually had Complicated Taxes this year and my CPA was being super slow

NCT as f(x)'s follow up group.... I never thought of it that way but it's an intruiging thought and I think I get it, could you expand on that?

hags are always arguing that reve took f(x)’s place and bsides but the only thing they have in common are being 5 member ggs. the closest completely “noisy” track reve ever got was zzb and stans hated it. tbh reve is a reboot of s.e.s. more than anything else. all of their sound is reminiscent of s.e.s. esp with more focus on vocals.

i’d argue that nct is f(x)’s replacement due to similarities conceptually and somewhat sound wise. when i watched the nctmentaries i was immediately reminded of the pink tape art film. plus all of the members of the groups are not equally talented but that plays to the strength of those groups

back then f(x) was sm’s experimental and “different” group amongst the more traditional groups. their titles were very noisy for the era, their concepts had never been tried by any other group, and sm put of lot of effort and experimentation into their albums. to this day their concepts and sound have not been successfully copied by new gen ggs.

similarly, nct is sm’s experimental concept group with noisy title tracks (which often take a lot of warming up to) and various concepts that haven’t been done by other groups (and the concepts are so difficult that theyre never copied either). nct’s unit system itself is a whole conceptual experiment. both f(x) and nct are essentially sms concept guinea pigs.

i’d say the main difference between the two groups is success and album quality. f(x) was very successful after two years or so, but nct took a while to get this big (but that’s due to the flaw in design of the group system and promo itself). the quality and cohesive of f(x)’s albums are much better than nct’s albums, which is why nct isn’t f(x)’s complete replacement (it’s hard to compete with f(x) when f(x) have one of the best kpop albums of all time). nct albums are still some of weakest of the sm groups (they lack cohesiveness they’re all shuffle albums, i blame that on sm album quality going down tho tbh)

finally.....i personally see the same pattern between the two groups in terms of future wise. it’s unlikely they’ll want to continue the nct brand after it dies down in the future. all the members will go their own ways bcuz sm will get tired of them just like they did f(x) members. it’s crazy to think of how popular f(x) was and then they disappeared after sm decided it didn’t want them anymore. i just know that one day nct will start to go quiet as sm debuts more groups. and tbh who knows what will happen once contract renewal rolls around in the next few years ....

Watching MC suggestively straddle a chair or the way their hips move is bad enough but when he notices MC wasn’t wearing underwear that day (and they wink at him when he realizes) its just too much and he walks around half the day trying to talk down his boner.

Julian

Sexual tension is the city state and country in which Julian resides.

He gets turned on So easily. Watching MC just go about their day being really hot is enough to turn him on. (The way the curves of their body Move is so hot to him)

So if MC kicks it up a notch? Opening up their shirts, leaning over on his desk, biting their lip, subtle winks and casually telling him that hes being good? Anything involving their thighs? He is red and barely coherent in minutes. 

It doesn’t take long for him to absolutely become desperate. He tries the bravado act for a hot second. Opening his shirt and fluffing his chest hair and giving them that devious smile. 

But if they build the tension instead of giving in? He’s been walking around half hard all day? Oh he gets absolutely pitiful. 

He tries to pin them against a wall but sinks to his knees begging, “Please please, anything. I -, please- I can’t stand it anymore- Take me, use me, please, please.”  he may or may not tear up a little, desperately hovering his hands over their body

Nadia

Nadia is used to public sexual tension, its part of how she expresses her dom feelings.

But she does like to eventually actually get to the fucking, and when she cant and the tension just builds, she constantly loses her train of thought. 

MC might be sitting in a corner chair in her meeting, biting their lip and running their hand over their plush body very discretely. and Nadia just totally zones out of whatever her tasks at hand are. 

MC: “Oh, let me get that for you.” *bend and snap*  (it works on Nadia)

She gets desperate but not in a begging way. She will be able to focus on nothing but pulling MC aside and working them over as soon as she can. 

She doesn’t have a very high tolerance for how long intense sexual tension without gratification can last, she can and will tell everyone to get out of the salon and practically rip her and MC’s clothes off before the door’s finished shutting. 

Muriel

Sexual tension, as like most things, makes him blush HARD

Muriel thinks everything about MC is hot (esp Fat!MC) so when their clothes are a little tighter, a little shorter. Maybe they’re walking around without a shirt on, it flusters him. 

But when they start Working at it? Little winks and lip bites, bending over a little slower than they need to, running their hands over their body or stretching in a very sexy way? our man is SWEATING

He STRONGLY considers leaving to go rub one out himself. 

But if he doesn’t? He’s gentle about it. Gently rubbing up against them and biting his lip to let them know that Message Received. 

I think MC would be pushed to THEIR limit of how much they can tease him because they love him and like seeing him flustered and turned on but they don’t want him to go deal with it alone (feeling like he doesnt deserve it) and when they give him the All Clear to fuck, he disrobes so fast you’d think his clothes just evaporated. 

Portia

Portia would absolutely explode.

She notices MC flirting and their winks and lip bites and the way they move their body immediately and she is Immediately turned on. 

She ups the sexual tension too and teases just as hard, not knowing it’ll come back to bite her with how long she’ll have to wait.

Everything else in her head goes away except wanting to fuck MC (she’s dropping stuff, walking into walls, the works)

She tries to pull MC into secret passageways but when they just give her a kiss on the neck and disappear she can barely take it.

When shes pushed absolutely to her limit she Takes Charge. She gets MC in a room alone with her, pins them against a wall, and essentially goes “Are you going to keep leading me on all day or are we finally going to do this?” 

Lucio

Count “Immediate Gratification” Lucio

He would NOT handle sexual tension well at all. MC teasing him and being sexy and subtle touches and winks and running their hands over their body or spreading their legs from the other side of the room? 

He would be SO whiny about it, it doesnt matter where they are or who else is present, he would be whiny.

Then he would try the Act, yknow, throwing his shirt open and that smirk, making himself very inviting. All he’d be doing is upping the tension. 

Making the first move? Only to have them nip his neck and slink away so he’s left half hard and wanting more? 

The last stage of Lucio’s Sexual Tension Grief is begging. How this man would beg. Throwing himself at their feet saying that he will do anything if they take him right now. What do they want? Do they want to rough him up? do they want him to pleasure them from head to toe while they relax? Anything they want they can have…as long as they have him.

Ok I caught up with wtfock s3 because well, it felt weird to leave unfinished (except a few clips i just didn’t want to watch, like the attack one). here’s what worked and didn’t for me (i’m pretty critical so don’t read if that sort of thing upsets you or you’re not in the mood) because i still think having this story remade so often is an unprecendented storytelling experiment worth thinking about even when it doesn’t entirely work (and i think argumented criticism is good, but if you post hate about the actors/fans etc you really suck tbh) : 

- to start with positives : like many said, the acting was pretty damn good. overall wtfock has a really solid cast. the willems have succeeded in creating an onscreen queer intimacy that feels very believable, no holds barred and no awkwardness, and they have to be commended for that. there’s a lot of chemistry and tension at first between them, which then turns into something very soft and sweet and puppy-love-like. it was nice seeing Robbe evolve and the sweet bean energy that emanates from how the actor plays him is very very powerful. i also loved the warmth of the flatshare, and as a Dutchie I just adored the Sinterklaas bits, it was so funny and i loved the found family vibes. warmth is just something they do really well, esp with the last clips, perfume shopping, playing board games, the party at the end. They use the Christmassy vibes really well. the cinematography has its moments too, contrasts between warm and cold, the episode at the beach is gorgeous, the sequence in the tunnel, the light on their faces when they are in that classroom surrounded by drawings. wtfock as a whole is also good at creating some very lovable secondary characters, be it Milan, Yasmina, Noor, or especially king Senne. So, I do understand that there are things to love about this remake, which is probably why my disappointment feels so strong. I really wanted to care about these characters in their journey. 

- on to the controversial : i don’t necessarily fault them for wanting to show a more prononced aspect of homophobia. i think the debate about this often lacks nuance. on one hand, this is the sixth remake, and homophobia is something that is still often prevalent, and having one remake show that out of six is not in itself a problem. on the other, yes, happy fluffy stories are important, but sometimes people who have gone through stuff like this also need to see their experiences represented. the power of skam is that it shows difficult experiences BUT ALSO a happy ending. that can be very healing, i think, compared to other stories which focus only on the drama. the trouble is, i don’t think they dealt with it very well, or put any effort into processing the consequences of these harrowing things. and if you don’t, it feels cheap.

- on to my main gripe : the writing. previsible, i know. but to me, essential. and this is not about them ‘changing things’ - i like when remakes change stuff, when they do it well. the thing is, i have been burned too many times before. and when i sense that the writing is being wack, it makes it automatically much harder for me to invest emotionally in the characters. and simply put there were signs early on that made me distrust the writers. for starters, the first two episodes gave me a feeling that they didn’t have their priorities in order. the POV-immersion and depth is one of the most powerful aspects of skam, and it was lost. too many early clips felt out of Robbe’s perspective, and when it was him it was about Noor ; a few clips to show his discomfort were on point, but there were too many of them, and there were repetitive, losing time on what isn’t really an essential part of Robbe’s journey. and while they were spending time on clips that felt like misery flavored filler, they decided several times to condense original clips focused on Isak and Even, together ; like their first meeting and then their first hangout, or later in the series OHN and the minute by minute talk. and i think their story suffered from that. i think because they don’t have a real discussion early on, the buildup of their relationship feels mostly based on physical attraction. and while it certainly is a thing that happens, it just isn’t my fave love story thing. i missed the sweet pining from afar and tension that makes later drama believable. it felt like they brought the drama comparatively too fast without enough character work to make it worthwhile. Also there is just too much time spent on Zoenne drama, and their breakup seems like it foreshadows the dreaded s4 love triangle, which, yikes. the focus is all over the place, the rythm felt incoherent. 

- what’s more, they decided to introduce pretty grave elements of plot, like Robbe using slurs against Sander, the homophobic attack, the suicidal urges on both their sides, Sander kissing Britt while he was still saying I love you to Robbe in the morning, without either proper build up or resolution. It made it all feel cheap, jarring, and unearned, especially when they didn’t put trigger warnings or made jokes about it on insta or waited forever to give news about the characters being ok. it felt like drama for the sake of drama, and definitely not written with a vulnerable audience of queer teens in mind. and at the same time, when it came to the ‘big scenes’ of their relationship, like the first kiss or the universes talk or sander’s episode, it felt more or less lifted from OG without a lot of effort made to adapt it to them. i actually quit live watching/blogging after the first kiss scene, because of how similar it was, and how uninspired it felt, and lukewarm. it felt like a lack of imagination. when it came to OHN, the scene in itself was lovely, but the weird time gap, random timing and people seemingly doing nothing after a suicidal Sander disappeared, sort of broke it for me.  In the OG the combo of buildup, longing, realisation, fear, release works so well in a sequence, and splitting it over time really diluted it, to me. Similarly the quickly thrown out ‘life is now’ at the ending felt sort of out of nowhere, while in OG it was such a lovely bookend, him apologizing to Eva and reflecting on his growth. The symbolism, which ties everything so beautifully together in themes of rebirth, salvation, baptism, union, faith, deciding your own narrative in OG, here feels inconsistent. There is an attempt I see, something about wasteland vs. warmth/family, but it’s often absent of main clips. It’s nowhere near as coherent as it could be. 

- all of this builds up to the main problem for me, of the season. which is, i didn’t really get into Robbe and Sander’s relationship. Or their individual arcs for that matter. When it comes to Robbe, I guess he just isn’t my type of character. I feel like he is missing the fire of an Isak. A lot of the time he just felt too passive, like he let other characters make his decisions. I was waiting for him to stand up for himself more than he did. And there are too many scenes of another character doing his coming out for him. And then Sander ; I have to say I don’t understand all the love his character gets. Maybe because that’s because he sort of gives me Dutch fuckboi vibes...but there were several times he just came accross as a flat out asshole. I found him intriguing in his intro clip, chaotic and charming, but that never really went where i expected it to. i didn’t get his passion, what drew him to art. the symbolism around his character - basically Bowie, and drawing Robbe, and Chernobyl (which is a bit tasteless imho, turning a tragedy like that into a cutesy romantic thing), feels ...disjointed, and shallow to me. Like I never really got into it. And maybe some people did and noticed deeper links but to me, I got stuck at the surface. I saw a lot of interesting theories with what was going on with him but in the end they just copied OG. And I’m sad to say, but he ended up feeling like a manic pixie dream boy cliché to me, and i just didn’t understand what drew them to each other so strongly. Yes, Robbe is caring and Sander is in need of care, but that feels like a very reductive reproduction of OG. Beyond that...i don’t know. Certain complexities of the OG i loved  just...were sanded away, like Isak being ignorant about MI and learning compassion. This just...didn’t feel like it had the same depth, and often felt like soapy teenage drama, leaning too hard and too lazily on the actors’ chemistry. i like my romances wordy and solidly enmeshed in character development, and this was not it. It never felt like they had a real conversation about things, esp after the drama. 

- i think this is the first remake that made me actually angry for reasons not related to problematic cast shit, and so i’m trying to analyze that emotion. for me it comes down to too much drama, too heavy handed. Too much of the boy squad being shitty to Robbe, too much Noor, too much filler clips without any deeper meaning, too much things distracting from getting to know the main characters and going into their issues in depth. They changed stuff, but didn’t have the guts to actually follow through. They broke the mold but only in ways that ended up feeling shallow and unconsequential. Like I would have loved seeing Robbe go to therapy ! see his mom ! Zoe and Robbe go to the police together ! Sander have a complicated home situation ! or doing a Bowie related art installation to express his feelings of alienation ! seeing more of the underground graffiti scene ! or just...something, idk. And them also removing the faith-related themes also felt disappointing. and the ohn clip taking place in the place where sander draws feels very....basic to me, even if it was pretty. very ‘oh he’s an artist, here is his safe place’....hm, okay. I didn’t like that they made Britt into such a villain, I didn’t like how the boy squad showed no care for Robbe whatsoever for weeks until the plot said it was time for them to be redeemed in a way that felt too jarring, and I didn’t like that they made Moyo so horrible but redeemed him so easily. I actually thought they would show that it’s okay to separate yourself from friends who are that bigoted, because it just shows they are not willing to care for people. And him suddenly saying those sweet and mature things felt too out of characters and a ahah ‘gotcha’ rather than depth . I didn’t like that Robbe, too, was made so virulent by his internalized homophobia but got over it so quickly. I think what disappointed me most, in the end, was that I kept picking up potential and the show kept doing absolutely nothing with it, or confirming my fears, and it made me feel stupid and out of tune with whatever they were doing. And it’s, to me, symptomatic in modern storytelling of a trend to privilege shocks and twists over inner coherence and build up. And it makes for...Very underwhelming stuff, in the end. 

- all in all, i think this remake illustrates why s3 of OG is not as easy to remake as it sounds. it’s very intricate machinery, with a pitch perfect rhythm (and an extremely passionate nitpicky fanbase lmao). and if you don’t get all the parts of why it’s so great, you’re going to lose a lot of it. (and all the remakes ended losing up stuff in translation ; more or less compensated by inventivity and charm of their own.) so many mainstream press articles praise the real time/social media format and the ‘real talk about teen issues’ which, yeah, is part of the success, but doesn’t explain the devotion on its own. there’s the way the story uses real time to build up a storytelling rythm that feels organic and makes sense as if it was part of the lives of the viewer. There’s foreshadowing and aftershocks. Wtfock often feels like they wrote the clip numbers on darts and randomly threw them at a week planner. If an episode of a regular series ends on a cliffhanger, we can be thrilled and frustrated and put it aside for next week. but if you end an episode with a character shown to be suicidal, or you don’t show them being okay after a beating, for hours or days, that’s the emotion you leave your viewers with, because skam is a continuous experience. and remakes who pile on drama moments without respite (looking at you too skamfr s4) don’t get how tiring and disengaging this can be, in this format. skam worked so well because of how benevolent it was, on the whole. and also, cheeky, with that ‘don’t take it too seriously’ deflating humor. grumpy isak in ‘hate me now’ mode getting bumped into. this lightness and comedy often feels missing here. also my god the social media is absolutely terrible. plus...there is too much filler. honestly, them having more time, on the whole...ended up being a bad thing. Plus Wtfock feels like it has so much more unadressed plot points, like...why did Sander change his mind exactly and kiss Britt again ? How did Robbe’s mom react ? Who did the attack ? What is happening w Senne now ? etc. And it feels like they just missed the fact that OG, however subtly, did adress those things. 

- now, don’t get me wrong, i’m happy it’s popular in Belgium. On the whole it’s still a beautiful story of love and acceptance. and that people found something in it that spoke to them. but as a remake, it’s probably one of the most disappointing yet, to me. and i sort of...don’t get the hype. and i don’t want to be too ‘oh cute boys kissing’ cynical about it. but i think this illustrates why in the end, this is also very subjective. there are probably things i missed because i didn’t feel the need to examine it in depth or do the extra emotional work that comes with being a devoted fan of something. and some of their choices made me angry, and i’m not forgiving when it comes to these things. i still wish them success for s4 and whatever else, but i don’t think i will watch live, at least unless it gets really rave reviews about their treatment of Yasmina’s season. i mean they got s2 right, who knows?
