hot take but season 3 of h2o should have been about julia
#h2o just add water#h2ojaw#h2o: just add water#hear me out: season 1 is (essentially) about louise while season 2 is (essentially) about gracie (and max but mostly max's rship with gracie#season 3 by contrast is about....... some rando irish mermaid no one had ever heard of and is completely disconnected from the already#established storyline#we know a little bit about louise's life#and a very little bit about gracie's#but next to nothing about julia's apart from her romantic melodrama with karl#season 3 was very clearly set up to be about julia and that's one of my main issues with it. it's so disconnected from the other 2. season 3#was largely unplanned and suffers from poor/hasty writing and it shows.#see: emma's unceremonious disappearance#zane's awful character regression#lewis's mid-season disappearance#bella's shoddy characterisation#cleo abandoning her entire personality and essentially becoming season 1!emma#the lack of synthesis with the 1950s mermaids narrative esp the refusal to even mention max and louise !!!!#will and sophie being. just. the WORST characters in the entire series.#the mind-numbing incoherency of the entire 'water tentacle' (???) story arc#i could go on#.txt#julia dove
