These are my OT5 brainstorm pages. Elaborations on how I got to these below! I reference concept pages so if you see any pictures you don't recognize that's why. <3

First up is Cat Noir who I think is already perfect lmao. For my version though I wanted to lean closer to his PV design because I love it, like his larger triangle nose (you can't really see it at the angle in my drawing but it's there I swear!), the bigger bell, the more elaborate belt, etc.... so basically everything ... just in my style instead.

With my designs I think that whenever someone transforms into their miraculous persona it's based on what they think a hero looks like or what they think is cool. I think Adrien reads a lot of comic books and is a fan of characters like Batman (relatable for him LOL), Catwoman, and Nightwing, so his suit reflects that kind of vibe.

Extra: I decided that Ladybug and Cat Noir's masks go all the way up their foreheads because it looks nicer in my 2D style with their bangs haha.

Next up is the one and only Ladybug! Unpopular opinion but I actually like the all red suit! My hypothetical series would be a webcomic, and I feel like in action scenes the red differentiates her from Cat Noir esp at a distance, and more red style keeps their color ratios even.

I like the ladybug designs with a bunch of black sections they're very cute! Just not for my au. (I think it's just me but I find drawing the ladybug designs with inverted red dots to feel sacrilegious in a way,,, just my neurodivergent brain lol)

And I am a long ribbons truther, I love them and they can be very expressive. Also I knew I wanted Marinette to have a more vertical circular eye shape because her shape vibe is definitely a circle (Adrien's is triangle) and it reminded me of the eyes for the main girl in princess jellyfish (I've never seen it, love the style tho)

Her hair is a more bright blue to contrast her hair against her suit, and make her look more cartoonish. I imagine her idea of a superhero comes from kids shows and some magical girl anime. So her hair has a plastic shiny texture to it because when she thinks 'superhero' she thinks of kids toys. Also I just like color! The blue kinda gives comic spiderman vibes imo (the version with the light blue instead of the navy)

Queen Bee definitely changed the most throughout the design process. I really like her in-show design so I just tweaked it to be more my vibe. Adding a crown because she's a Queen.

Something that I've noticed is that Alya and Chloe actually share a lot of traits (There's even some old concept notes where I believe Alya and Chloe either switch names or roles at some point?? The miraculous concept info rabbit hole is real y'all) and I think this comes through in their final designs.

Like they both share a middle part, which bothers me for some reason, so I decided to give Chloe a little Ariana Grande side part into a ponytail.

I wanted each character to have a cool little piece on their costume, so I tried these little hip things to make her more commanding and girlboss, but currently her weapon is similar to ladybug's (but more like one of those hair ties w the little disco balls on them) and it would sit on her hip and would clash w her hip thingies, so I just decided to make her weapon the hip things instead, combining the two.

Something else that bothered me a lot was that Rena was the only one with white on her costume. Everyone has black but she's the only one with white... my brain says that this cannot be. So I tried to give Bee some fun white fuzzy bits but the texture just was too different...

And then I had the mega-brain idea to make her hair white to tie in the white from Rena. Her and Cat Noir both having blonde hair irked me as well LOL so this hit two birds with one stone. I wanted her hair to be sharper and more aggressively drill shaped because of her abrasive personality haha.

After that, is Carapace. I had an idea for him from the start because I felt like his in-show design just doesn't match his personality... I couldn't make his outfit all loose because I wanted to stick generally to the miraculous suit formula, but I feel like 'skin tight suit' just isn't his vibe. So he has a kind of hammer pants situation.

I think they capture Carapace's b-boy ninja turtle vibe while still looking like a miraculous outfit. Though I decided later that I wanted the pants to be a lighter color for contrast and the visor to be white (to tie in that Rena Rouge white).

Lastly is Miss Rena! Something that bothered me (back on the similarities to Chloe) was that they both have ponytails (yes I know I'm crazy). Even though they have very different textures I just wanted each of them to be distinct from each other. So I put her hair down and just dramatized her regular hairstyle.

Also her and Queen Bee both have black gloves to their upper arms, which, you guessed it, bothered me. So I shortened Rena's to just reach her elbow.

I wanted her to look like a magic-man, her illusion powers evoke a showmanship energy to me. I imagine her and Cat Noir are quite the dramatic theater kid-esque duo.

So, for drama I tried some flowy arm bits, which I think ended up just looking a little strange, so I'll pocket that idea for something else. Then, I tried to add her coattail from the show, but it ended up looking a little frumpy, not the drama I wanted.

I ended up making her coat more triangular in the front, to give off the vibe of a magician's vest, and changed it to solider red/orange double coattails, which I think makes her more magic-man-ish. And I think the white ends made it too busy.

So those are my hero designs! I'm still working out Hawkmoth and Mayura, esp Hawkmoth because I am not good at drawing masculine older men...

Also about the shrimp since yuu look nothing like an actual shrimp, i give that floyd is talking about Snowball Shrimp instead

2. Memphis Nicholson - Memphi-chan(Cater), Clownfish(Floyd), Monsieur Director(Rook)

Memphis' club is film research club as a backstage worker, so it would be normal for her to work with Vil and got mentioned when talking with Rook. Thus the name director, though she dont like getting called director much. Also she got described as small and bubbly like a clownfish from Floyd

3. Ernst Lauritsen - Moon jellyfish(Floyd), Monsieur Carefree(Rook)

Jellyfish is taken by Silver and this is even pointed out by Floyd himself, and for Floyd Ernst is more like a moon jelly. Carefree is just his personality that he wouldnt care about everything ever at the point it kind of concerning. But even at the surface level you could tell hes carefree

okay listen this is going to be a lot of rambling because im hype up on doing way too much college shit all day but i can't stop thinking about what the ecosystem within the oceans in OnS look like. because okay so in Chapter 43, Narumi brings up that the ocean is fucked up:

cause okay so something that is often talked about in ecology studies is the concept of resilience. which britannica kindly defines as "...the ability of an ecosystem to maintain its normal patterns of nutrient cycling and biomass production after being subjected to damage caused by an ecological disturbance." - BASICALLY entire ecosystems have varying levels of this shit. some things are extremely resilient- when external stressors are introduced those fuckers will not die out at all, and will usually dominate future populations even after the habitat has reached a relative state of equilibrium stress events. Some however of course have low as hell resilience and yeah theyre gonnabe the first to die out and REALLY REALLY struggle to come back.

anyways now that we know somewhat of how observed communities are going to react to shit like- fucking acidic poisonous water that has turned blood red - we can start to speculate what the HELLS in there . because i have no fucking faith in Kagami to actually show us whatever the hells in there.

SO MONSTERS YEAH? let's say that these "monsters" that are in the water are actually evolved marine life - since OnS apocalypse happens in 2012 and current timeline is in 2020 we can assume that no Crazy crazy evolution has occurred just yet (short-term evolution is something that Does happen- and incredibly fast in some species cases! because generation to generation survivability can be super fucking extreme and force shit like armor plating esp in some species of fish dependent on turbidity) BUT just little things. especially a likely shift toward red colorations in these bitches. i like to imagine that the monsters were just the super fucking resilient of the bunch and if theyre predatory to Anything that enters the water (HOW DO THEY KNOW ABOUT THE MOSNTERS ANYWAYS IF THE WATER IS ACIDIC AND POISONOUS? the two flower languages i usually use is the victorian one and hanakotoba. they just have different meanings depending on what country and time period you choose to take from. the victorian time period and hanakotoba are the two most common flower languages used. from what i understand, there are also more flowers addressed in victorian flower language than hanakotoba. what’s nice about flower language is that you can choose what meaning for what flower resonates with you. the meanings were given based on the flower’s behavior, looks, and what culture it’s from. people used to use them to symbolize intimate emotions to others that you wouldn’t normally share out loud with the rest of the world. there are some flowers in hanakotoba that were just specifically meant for royalty though (i’m not a fan of that).

fun fact: i have never been in the vicinity of an ocean sunfish. they have the power to anger me through the screen.

tbh tho one of the biggest differences between non-kpop artists and kpop artists (or more like artists who r not a part of the east asian music industry vs artists who are) imo is how much genuine interaction the artists have with their fansif that makes sense?? bcs with kpop esp w blackpink there's a scarcity of the artist that is artificially created so ppl get very small glimpses into how the artist would interact w a fan bcs neither the artist nor the fan is given the chance to properly interact w each other so that at least the artist has the chance to even Retain the memory of meeting the fan yk 😭😭 and that sort of scarcity is not created by artists that aren't part of the kpop industry. i also feel like that's why even tho several kpop groups have had international levels of fame they still fail to be retained in western memory? the added later of racism is also playing a HUGE factor but ya sometimes I feel like groups like blackpink and bts won't have a lasting impact on an industry that's not their home industry unless they start to completely assimilation into western music ""culture"" bcs i feel like that's the most global music industry that will at the very least allow u to be retained in ppls memories like does this make sense 😭 i hope that won't be the case but it probably will be bcs bp r already twice removed from the spotlight for being asian women and kpop stans r not on their side I want them 2 succeed just like any other global kpop act man 💔 I saw this one research article from like 2010 which was talking abt wonder girls/snsd (i forgot which group) and talking abt the preconceived assumption that the west had back then that kpop was always trying to catch up to western music trends and imitate it, but always ended up sounding outdated. i think abt that sometimes bcs that paper imo sounded rlly out of date but i think those notions have shifted into smth else that still puts down the artistic integrity and originality of kpop music

fully agree with the first paragraph :| they will get some backlash for sure, but it will be pretty much limited to a few echo chambers on social media (mainly made up of kpop stans) and it will have little to no impact on their careers. people online (both kpop and non-kpop fans) have the memory of a goldfish and the backbone of a jellyfish lol if a backlash happens they will forget about it in a matter of days and they will move on from it as soon as the girls do something they like. we’ve already seen that with the leaks — people were mad for about a week, then coachella happened and people got distracted by how much the girls served, and now their songs are still performing well on the charts and hardly anyone talks about the initial situation. plus, the situation lacks urgency since it happened 10+ years ago, which means that outrage is less motivated (not that that makes it okay btw but it explains why most people are quick to move on)

and i’m not sure i completely follow the second paragraph, cause i would say kpop artists interact MORE with fans compared to western acts ? kpop artists have fancalls, fansigns, they do a lot more non-tour live performances, they interact more on social media and post more y/n content ….. to what extent those interactions are genuine or artificial is another discussion, but i don’t fully understand what you mean, sorry! 😅

i 100% agree that racism is one of the main reasons why kpop artists have a difficult time making it in the western industry, though i don’t think that assimilation into western culture is the only path forward, especially if we’re talking about getting people to remember u. people have an easier time remembering those who stand out, and western artists in the western music industry don’t necessarily stand out lol u can be a kpop act and make it in the industry even without necessarily assimilating into western culture, u just have to be smart about it

and well that article was right, at least about the time period of kpop it was talking about 🤷🏻‍♀️ kpop in the 2000s and 2010s was HEAVILY inspired by popular songs in the western industry (just check out this playlist lol). nowadays it happens less with individual songs and more so with overall trends in the western industry (eg the disco plague that ran rampant in kpop after blinding lights had come out lol). also, nowadays a lot of companies look at fashion trends and pick up on those, and then build the music around those trends (eg the y2k sound that has been trending for the past couple of years, which likely started after companies saw how popular the y2k aesthetic was becoming in the fashion realm). tho honestly i don’t think that’s a big deal or some statement about the originality in the kpop industry — kpop as a genre has always been about chasing trends and taking inspiration from others, and i don’t think that doesn’t necessarily mean it cannot be original ? just because two songs by two different artists have similar genres or similar aesthetics it doesn’t mean they’re not both original, as each artist is gonna have their own take on that genre / aesthetic. does that make sense ?

Me when the fucking mushroom has eyes that literally follow you around the greenhouse They can close their eyes/blink. There the eyes are under the surface of a clear protective film. They don't need to blink. They close their eyes from sudden bright light/direct sunlight. The young especially close their eyes except for the ones actively looking at something on one side. The more focused on something ex: a simple task like a food-puzzle they will close other eyes that can't see the item to seemingly "concentrate" The mushrooms, when well fed, rarely act aggressively to larger creatures than a mouse. They can be aggressive if not used to people/animals, but also very obviously recognize and remember. They recognize the humans who normally bring them food or water them etc. They often react mildly to their presence, showing the same calmness they have while alone. They will reach out sometimes to gently touch familiar people, only briefly and curiously. They recognize harsh humans too, either wrapping themselves up defensively with their loose roots so only their Hood/eyes are exposed, to watch. Larger specimens will cause serious harm if aggravated, as their roots are rough and very strong. Made for tearing into rotting flesh to feed. The roots have to be cut and the target needs to be removed immediately to avoid serious injury, esp a skin-rotting infection that the sap/blood of the being creates to help it's digestion on rotting flesh. They have been recorded to play when raised around frequent positive human interaction. They love food puzzles, and tug of war. They recognize color, and some have shown to have favorites. Specimens recognize pets, too. A larger specimen can positively interact with a friendly calm dog! There's just high risk of the dog accidentally causing a light injury if they were to directly play and if the dog injected the highly toxic flesh-melting sap... A larger sized individuals in a small hand raised colony has been built a small contraption. one side has a lever the brings can pull to dispense a treat to the other side of the glass wall, when a furry friend visits. ... It's all fun and games raising your little mushroom-alien that's actually a friend. Till it's head becomes weightless and it can suddenly float completely freely from gravity! And it's as big as the huskies! Also. It's as smart and mobile as an octopus. And then not long after all this. It suddenly has a big strong hungry beak. And wants a bit fresher of meat. Now, it still recognizes you, the three other lab caretakers, and the husky that's a bit too friendly and relaxed to be a good work dog as friends! The rest of the humans in the facility, however, look like big tasty morsels.

That also adds to the feeling of being watched by them. You glance over at the glass where they seem to be mildly scrunched up and eyes mostly closed. You look back down at your work. Time passes. You glance over, and notice the colony has shifted slightly, Bells tilted in a way where you lock eyes with the many* eyes looking back at you*

THEY ARE LITTLE GUYS it's why it got so out of hand up there They are very resilient to cold and everything else once they are able to float and they just keep growing Their eyes have the. Have a texture like a giant squid eye! The eyes are individual, but that outer clear membrane covering them is one thing down the stripe of eyes They don't really like "pets" in the common sense. They do not like their mushroom bodies to be touched at all. They do like to "shake hands" with people, tho. They seem to understand the concept of doing it as a greeting with researchers who enter the actual containment.

Noticeably, they seem calmer with any researcher (new or familiar) after the researcher extends their hand out to let the colony wrap around their hand and wrist briefly and doing an up and down movement before retracting their roots. They will let familiar researchers get fairly close to their actual bodies, esp if the researcher is bringing them a new type of food that's larger than something they can maneuver on their own with their roots. They also have been found to understand the concept of patience around food/being able to wait until clearly given food to take it and begin rooting it. They coil around their bodies protective with roots if a researcher is physically too close, although rarely seeming defensive and more so cautious. They are curious about ppl more, but seem to be aware that people recoil from further touch than on the hands as they will also recoil their roots in response (this is specifically when they are being curious or friendly. )

I dont have any additions to Teyvat language yet (other anons have a more in depth explanations while mine is just shitposts wheEZE--) but I did have an idea for a Genshin AU.

I'm pretty sure everybody has heard about the blue alien people Avatar. Tribal people from another planet. (Also I just stumbled upon the forests of Sumeru while going through Chasm quests. The one that has giant mushrooms).

Imagine Genshin in the Avatar Au. Sumeru can be based on the first movie (It fits cause from what I can explore of Sumeru reminds me of the time I watched Avatar of the first time. Pure awe and wonder..) While the Water nation can be based on the 2nd movie, Hoyoverse hasnt released the name of the Water Country yet so we're just waiting. Mondstadt can be based on the upcoming 3rd (4th or 5th? Idk they had it lined up) movie that involves being high above the clouds. Kind of like the Jade palace or the Floating Abode in the serenitea pot.

Its all I could base for now since the other movies dont have that much info yet to be paired with Genshin's countries.

Lab Rats Ice Skating AU HCs

I’m a figure skater and I always like to do skating AU’s with characters from the fandoms I’m in. I hope these make sense to non-skaters.

-Adam is the epitome of a hockey skater, but he has tried figure skating with hockey skates on which didn’t end well for him. (Look up the difference in hockey and figure skates, esp the blades of you’re confused)

-Bree does figure and hockey. She started with figure but when she saw Adam doing hockey she wanted to do that too.

-Chase is a figure skater, he loves how uniform it is and is that one skater friend that knows all the rules and scoring systems that no one else can be bothered to learn.

-Leo is a figure skater. He used to always want to do hockey but he got scared by the violence of it all so he decided to stick to the less violent sport.

-Chase can calculate things so precisely that his coach barely has to correct him, if ever. He’s always perfectly aware of where his axis is, when he needs to turn, when he needs to step out etc.

-Bree has tried to use her superspeed with skates on but she quickly found out that normal skates cannot withstand the force of super speed. AKA the blades bent and became deformed, she also made a huge crack in the ice that took a very long time to repair.

-Adam used to find it really hard to put a damper on his super strength and once accidentally ended up shoving a skater so hard they collided with the barrier and broke some of their gear. Adam felt very guilty about that and focused even harder on not using his bionics during training.

-Leo is tall (ish) and lanky so he spins better than he jumps. He finds it difficult to get height on his jumps but he could keep doing spins for an entire practice session because he really enjoys them.

-Chase prefers jumps. He’s shorter so he can get a lot of height on his jumps. Spinning makes his bionics go a bit iffy. One time his vision was pixelated after a very fast spin for a good fifteen seconds. Chase had quickly found out that instead of getting dizzy like normal people, he had pixelated vision. That was never a fun experience.

-Tasha always shows up wearing the colours of Adam’s team and wears one of his spare jerseys during matches. She is the loudest person cheering for him during matches. She hasn’t missed a single one of his games.

-Tasha always makes supportive signs to take to figure skating comps or performances. They’re usually very brightly coloured and can be seen from across the rink. She has also never missed a single skating event of either of her kids.

-Tasha turns up for most of the practice sessions too. She’s one of the very few parents that actually want to sit in the rink to watch their kids skate. She knows the kids don’t expect her to be there but she loves watching them all skate and succeed things.

-Davenport is like a jellyfish on the ice. The very few times he has gone ice skating, he has not been able to stand up straight. This has hurt his ego and he refuses to go anymore.

so thats the big reason why hakyeon is a saint. but then i saw something where leo nd jaehwan were openly like ‘yeah we’re psychologically tortured in the dorms’ nd i realized hakyeon is off camera stopping another TWO potential bullying scandals. like i see ppl to this day be like ‘unpopular opinion but i really don’t think the way either hakyeon jaehwan or leo are treated like its not funny’ nd i never understood why they included vocal line. but now that i’ve seen the clips? ykw? tea! like i talk abt how vixx just did not give a fuck abt leo’s boundaries nd just touching him for no reason but high key they dont care abt jaehwan’s either. multiple times ppl have said they like making him mad for no reason like u knowwwwww the dorms had to be hell on earth bc both leo nd jaehwan got tempers. they just had two insane dudes that know judo stomping around. nd yet again if hakyeon wasn’t such a good leader nd vixx werent known as terrors that could’ve been a big thing too. like when u pay attention to the shit they admit to u’re like????????? naur y’all are IRRITATING. nd ofc iont know what the group dynamic is off camera but just logically being teased all the time could cause issues if no one knows how to be mature

i also think lowkey if hakyeon werent hakyeon nd wasn’t the most relentless leo solo stan the ppl who hated him for having fans would’ve pushed the narrative further that leo was a bully to either hongbin or hyuk 😭 idk how far that would’ve gone considering how he was suffering thru everyone touching him all the time nd SO many ppl ain’t fuck with hongbin but who knows.

so in conclusion if hakyeon didn’t handle the absolute evil jellyfish entertainment gave him authority over with any less grace nd ppl were prompted to be critical of group dynamics beyond ‘its funny that they’re mean to each other teehee’ it would’ve been scandal after scandal after scandal. nd i’m not saying i want to live in the world where the popular narrative is that [redacted] is a jealous colorist bully but i would like to visit at least

O!! i ended up eating chicken and dumplings yum<3 and i got to play the forest w my cousin we went caving and i finished the wall ive been trying to build omg it took forever... AND WOW that sounds like it was very fun i like keroppi!!! my emoji used to be a frog but i think the frog emoji looks ugly on mobile so.. i changed it LOL :x but omg do you like frogs too?? i havent been to a mall in forever. AND YES W THE FOODS i ate the same yogurt for 3yrs straight every single morning :p i love enchiladas a lot yes!! and chicken soup and lately its been poptarts too the blueberry kind!! and i am the shrimp because 1 i think it is cute 2 i love shrimp like i love seeing aquariums w them in it 3 i just like ocean animals a lot in general jellyfish and sharks and those weird translucent octopuses esp :3 o and those giant crabs wit long legs they are so scary but also i am fascinated by them
