A somewhat recent Commission: Festival Esmeralda! This was based on a doll Disney produced, & an art of the design combined! I LOVED this design as soon as the client sent it to me, I’m so happy I got to make it! The red fabric is low sheen thick bridal satin, purple is a silky brocade. I made all of the crystals, accents on the skirt & sheer scarf w gold crystals, added thick gold trim on the hems. The petticoat is included, skirt is all one solid piece, lined, that zips up the back. The top has lightweight steel bones, laces up back for the best fit! Has slash sleeves, jewelry, & masquerade mask!

Fun fact: I used to wear the hunback of Notre dame pajamas when I was like 4. It had a picture of the little goat on it and I absolutely loved them. The last time I wore those was one of my happiest childhood memories. Here is Day 3 of 31 days of cosplay with my take on Esmeralda. This is obviously a mash of cultures and ideas, but I love it so much.

Croatian Sailor Pluto! I put her on an uninhabited island that's as far from the coastline as possible because I feel like that's very on brand for Pluto. Original Pluto is apparently meant to be half romani, so I took some inspiration from both traditional croatian and romani dresses. Resources on Romani clothing are surprisingly hard to find among all the horrible halloween costumes and esmeralda cosplays.

Also I love putting Pluto in suits, she's a cool business lady. what is her business?? who even knows!

Someone already covered how the influx of antis impacted F/F in the Disney fandom, but another major component was people shifting from shipping lots of pairings to disparaging people for shipping things they didn't ship. This isn't unique to F/F or Disney, but this fandom culture change from multishipping being the norm to it being something you needed a specific name for puzzles me in any fandom. I don't see why it happened. I also don't get what the point of it is. I love my blorbos as much as anyone, I've cosplayed as some, I write fic, I draw art, etc., but even if I'm really into, say, Belle/Elsa, I don't see how someone shipping Belle/Esmeralda or Elsa/Merida means anything to me. I also don't see why I shouldn't ship those things in addition to Belle/Elsa. Infinite number of fictional AUs, infinite blorbos, thus, infinite possibilities. It's not as if this is canon where there can only be one pairing.

I really wish there was someone who had the answers on why this shift from "I reblog all Disney femslash" to "multishippers DNI" as the norm happened. It's not helping any fandom, and it is - and I say this as someone who hyperfixates on characters so hard I have dreams where I am them - kind of ridiculous given these are fictional characters. Make believe can have anything you want.

Recently I saw someone get snapped at for having made a moodboard for a character with two different partners, one in 2017, one in 2024. And I know this is completely abandoning the original focus of the conversation on F/F but I feel like this really shows just how bad things have gotten. Even if their main ship has changed, that doesn't make them a "disloyal fan". Loyalty is something you can owe real life people, but not fictional characters.

There were times in the past where having multiple fandoms was seen as weird, never mind multiple ships. This isn't one distinct recent change in one direction.

Headcanon : the Exorcists are the biggest Disney fans of Heaven after Emily and of animes with female protagonists that actually kick asses without too much of a man's help.

They like seeing the women be happy and kicking asses, though they're also part of the judgemental "Cinderella is weak" crowd.

When Lute and Vaggie (Vaggie is basically Angel equivalent of young adult, but they still live together) first watched Hunchback of Notre Dame, Lute took a liking of Frollo but also felt weird about it because she found him pathetic in many ways, so she's stuck between liking him and Phoebus.

Meanwhile Vaggie loved esmeralda both for her personality and for more... Sinful reasons, though she never shared the later with anyone due to being embarrassed about it, especially when Adam loudly praised how hot Esmeralda was.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Vaggie found Adam and Lute in Phoebus and Esmeralda cosplay and crashed with some pals of the Sisterhood for two weeks to process that embarrassing and horrifying sight.

Surprisingly, Adam liked the Beast far more than Gaston, when asked why, he said it was because he could beat the shit out of Gaston and is the one that got the girl, and also he's named Adam so obviously Dickmaster is gonna prefer him.

The actual reason is that the fairy punishing him remind him of when he was cast out of Eden, and his love story with Belle made him think fondly of his own care for Lute (seeing Lute cry is one of the things he hate) and he wrongfully interpreted it as how Belle was what Lilith and Eve should have been, loyal, and the beast founding his humanity back after almost dying remind him of how despite losing Eden he found something similar when after death he got into Heaven.

Basically, faulty interpretation mixed with interesting parallels (he's still Adam, he's not gonna understand these movies that well).

I don't have much to say on this, sorry, but it's all very interesting. I do think Vaggie would have a bit of a crush on Esmeralda if she ever saw the Disney version of the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Also, the idea of Adam feeling something of a connection to the Beast is really fascinating.
