Clopin headcanons

- He gets voice cracks when he talks with his puppet voice but he's an "Oh yeah? Well, guess what: I don't give a fuck!" person.

- His favorite color is yellow but purple's the only color of fabric he has so he just goes with it. The only yellow he has was the jester outfit that he has which was seen being worn during the feast of fools.

HOND post-movie headcanons

Quasimodo confronting Esmeralda about his lingering romantic feelings towards her, and the two coming to an understanding that even though Esmeralda doesn’t have romantic feelings toward Quasi, that doesn’t mean she cares for him any less. 

Also I want Esmeralda to apologize for making Quasi think that “he wasn’t enough” because let’s face it she literally kissed him on the cheek to shut him up about him being too busy to visit Esmeralda. The poor boy knows nothing about social cues what else would he interpret that other than “holy crap she likes me”

Quasimodo experiencing the Feast of Fools in a positive environment. He’s a bit hesitant at first because he’s thinking “oh my god this was the place where i was literally gaslit by a whole town” but turns out the festival goes great and omg i care way too much for a fictional character 

Quasimodo bonding with the archdeacon, and him learning about his mother and what really happened to her. I was surprised when Quasi didn’t have many interactions with the archdeacon. 

Omg archdeacon becoming a father figure for Quasi and feels guilty for not being the one to take him in (imagine him saying “if I was given the choice I would’ve adopted you in a heartbeat” and quasi breaking down into tears because he never felt like Frollo really wanted him as a son.) 

QUASI. EXPERIENCING. NATURE!! Let him frolic through a forest and climbing every single tree he sees and look at bugs! Let him walk along a beach and collect shells and bury his toes in the soft sand and cool water! Let him visit a farm and ride horses and pet sheep! Let Esme and Phoebus take him to an endless field of flowers and have a picnic and watch the sun set and make each other flower crowns!!!

Quasi trying to feel welcome in the Romani community in Paris. He feels like an outsider for a lot of reasons. Even though his mother was Romani, he didn’t have the same upbringing that Esmeralda or Clopin had. In a way, Frollo stripped him of what would make up his cultural identity, and he can’t feel a connection to the traditions of the Romani people, even though he desperately wants to.

Misc Esme HCs

Esme can swim, she knows how to, but she isn’t very good at it. She knew Phoebus would die if she didn’t attempt to save him. - She herself nearly drowned as a child so she tries to avoid any body of water much as possible.

She may dance for coin but she truly loves to dance. Esme knows all types of dance and chances which one she chooses daily. - She hasn’t much chance to dance one on one with someone, with the slow dances. It’s generally a group dance or a solo she partakes in.

Esmerelda gets a fear of heights during the chase of Frollo coming after her and Quasimodo on the outside of Notre Dame. - She can’t handle the sensation of falling or even swinging without getting flashbacks, since she was scared she’d fall from such a height.

Esme suffered from smoke inhalation from when she burned at the stake. There’s permanent damage to her lungs and developed asthma which is primarily triggered from smoke.

She also suffered severe burns on the stake. Her feet got the blunt of it, and most of her legs are burned. Her left side has gotten licked but not as severe as her legs and feet. This she keeps covered much as possible to avoid being questioned. Most aren’t healed yet and keep opening up so she’s constantly in pain.

The pair of earrings she shares with her goat came from Clopin from her seventh birthday. The duo has worn them ever since.

HC: Shit that’s Happening - That Summary Shizz

Piper Edition

So what really did happen in Peru? 

We have the gist. Piper and the gang won obviously. She gave a brief summary to Maddy at one point. Everyone’s been a little too busy with babies to deal with news. But Piper, Kuzco, and Clopin are feeling on top of the world right now or at the very least Peru. 

Delta and Frank aren’t the only ones rewriting the world map. 

Piper was reworking the entire government over there. It was proven corrupt and so much of it arrested, the counsel exposed. It didn’t go as smooth as Delta and Frank’s transition in the Fae Realm. 

All Piper’s oddness that Dale was stressing about would revealed to be her and Lord Claudius scheming together for the greater good. She wouldn’t tell Dale or her fathers what was going on and made Claudius promise not to tell and held true to that vow against the glares of Kuzco, Clopin, and Dale all - Piper was planning on giving herself up and over to the counsel as long as certain criteria were met and agreed upon. She knew her fathers would never approve of this strategy. Clopin nearly had a hissy fit at idea of Dale going and believed he was going to die and acted like the whole world was going to end if they went to Peru. She wasn’t going to tell them she’d been negotiating with them. 

Lord Claudius is a blood witch with haemokinetic abilities. It’s one of the few powers considered nearly as scary as Piper’s type. She didn’t want this known until final negotiations because rumors were true. Dale was sniffing in the right direction. She did have plans of selling Lord Claudius to the council in exchange for cooperation if it would buy her fathers’ freedom when she stepped up if anything shady happened. Clopin’s extreme fear is what evolved this plan. She’d never seen her Papa so scared as the way he reacted that day he lashed out at Dale.

She didn’t think Dale’s powers were worth what the council was looking for and she knew Dale would never go along with a plan where he had to play the punk. Dale would never be punked out. He’d never fake it. He wasn’t that guy. He was the go in swinging guy. That wasn’t the guy she needed in the end. 

Lord Claudius and Piper actually slipped away from the estate when no one was looking. Dale, Clopin, Kuzco, they missed it with no idea how they missed them. Kuzco would say to Clopin she was taught by the best and could only blame Clopin and be proud of how slippery she kept being even when it kept being under their noses. 

Lord Claudius does indeed know the red devil puppet. They say this arrives with trauma. To catch this up Frollo isn’t gone. Frollo changed targets. He hasn’t forgotten Clopin and all the ruckus his family caused or Kuzco either. Esmeralda was in Hell and being the good girl her Papas thought Piper was and turning so disobedient behind their backs ready to sell herself over for her father’s freedom at any cost, angry her father didn’t have faith in her that day, she saw it in his fear, the devil became her insignia, her avatar, her puppet. Her split. It was also because Frollo was a holy man. She would be the Hellfire that would tempt, lure, control, and punish him if he were to come around. This persona manifested the more she saw Clopin’s fear, Esme’s fear, Bastien’s fear, and Maddy’s fear of ghosts getting through her shield. 

It started out as just a little puppet working through her emotions with Claudius as they were dating and then he saw how she couldn’t turn it off and it took her over and became a life of it’s own. This side of her is the one that created the plan to sell Claudius’s power as a trade to leave her family alone. 

She and the devil puppet would argue often in front of Claudius about whether to trick the council like a trojan horse and once in destroy everyone of importance verses actually cooperating for her fathers’ right to live a free life and hearing the council out for what they wanted from her, be what they wanted her to be. 

Claudius understood this was an internal battle inside Piper that really had to do with what she wanted for her fathers, her morals, and her wishes for her country. She cared little for herself. So when the moment came he didn’t hesitate. He went with mostly the devil’s plan not Piper’s and trojan horsed it. He pulled just enough of Piper’s plan to get the council’s intentions for them, they’d agree so long as Kuzco and Clopin would be removed from the situation and be free men, just icons nothing more, the real work to them, which was witnessed shady and corrupt powermongering ways, but Piper and Claudius would agree. 

The council would be all set with special potions for them to drink and everything to keep them under chemical / magical restraint just like in the old days when Kuzco used to be younger so they’d feel on control until they felt they could trust them and were going to sign paper work. They were in a room with screens all over showing members from all over tapped in from all over the world. It was wild. Claudius had no idea how big this was. He saw now why Clopin feared. If they allowed these restraints it would be all over. They’d have no autonomy. They’d be in the same situation as Kuzco’s young life had been all over again, the cycle continues, and Claudius would have been dragged into it. 

But it was in this high stakes moment so vital they made such a mistake so widely reaching. When Claudius decided to trojan horse it and started to destroy so many people holding them at bay restricting their hearts, their breathing, their lives, Piper’s devil reached further through the energy fields in the wires right through the screens following their pathways. In that room she was given a breadcrumb trail to them all with her sense of power and she let them know in that moment as she would cave the gravity in on the rooms they sat in she could reach them anywhere. 

Then the meeting would restart. New terms were set with a smirk on her face. 

Still a few bold powerful people tried to stand up to these threats. Deaths were instant. Claudius and Piper started a mini-internal war inside the Peruvian secret agencies. This was MIB type stuff remember. These were agencies the government supposedly didn’t even actually have so no one believed they existed but that was the beautiful thing about these trojan horse meetings. Piper and Claudius had their spy cam awesome tech going on. Hello welcome to what growing up with Dale and Scout plus what Clopin’s final TSG training helped give her in the end. Piper was locked and loaded with her Inspector Gadget gear. 

This is all what triggered the final descent on the estate too. When Piper and Claudius started to get violent the council moved in on the estate as a way to get leverage. They thought if the Papas were threatened the younger/stronger pair would calm down since that was their big motivator. They came in with well equip with special magicians but they weren’t expecting Dale and his absolute aggression. They must have forgotten if Kuzco gets scared or mad the whole world turns topsy turvy as he’s still never been trained whether he’s gotten old or not since they were so focused on Piper. They also didn’t foresee the serious impact all the media coverage really had. 

When the estate was finally moved in on the locals actually stormed in too. Dale and the Kuzpin’s were hardly fighting alone. It would look like an entire town was storming their property. Magic or not they’d gotten public opinion on their side and it mattered. The fact anyone stormed their private property was proof something was wrong and illegal going on. No one was calling for search warrants. Government assholes were just charging. The whole town became a rebel militia in their favor. It was the most beautiful thing Dale had ever seen. When it was all over he wondered why no one ever did that shit for their camp. Kuzco would explain because he’s Kuzco. It was that simple. 

“He’s Kuzco, that’s why. Now groove on.” 

Dale would stand there with bruises and a black eye after Kuzco looked at him in that duh kind of way and feel like he never should have asked. He really should have known. He’d light a cigarette and even say it with a sticky busted lip, “He’s fucking Kuzco, that’s why.” 

In the end all of these events led to the secret agencies revealing themselves to too many people and when too many people know they exist they have to answer to them. 

Then it all started to go down more like a Delta/Frank situation. Piper and Claudius sped up the courts. 

Dale’s been extremely jealous that this guy’s actually been proving himself worthy. All signs were pointing to him being some kind of mole or who knows what exactly. But really he was just the guy that Piper had been confiding in more than him because Dale runs and tells her fathers too much. He was too close to the situation to stay level headed. 

They’d all get to witness her with the devil puppet when the recording of their ultimatums when the council was ready to hijack them both was brought home. She didn’t realize it until it was in the computer and she saw herself doing it grandstanding next to Claudius with a larger than life persona and a different voice threatening people dancing around much like Clopin. She’d cackle laughing out about paying for sins and point “Boom!” Then someone would implode and the puppet thought it was hilarious especially when she did it to people through screens. Letting people see how far reaching her powers were was terrifying which made her laugh more and ask Claudius how sexy she was. She was god awful about it. So, Dale was really having to endure a lot of pushing down that jealousy and remembering his place. He was getting this weird sinking feeling. He just cares cause he knows Piper’s head is so fucked up. Always has been, but now it’s next level. 

In the end it’s like finding the hidden oil reserves. What happened was the Troullifous would get access to the Pachacuti fortune they were cut off from when Theme Song Guy first helped them escape to the island. 

They not only got access to the family fortune but they got the money that embezzled from their fortune into the secret agencies and mishandled. The council was practically being run on their fortune and operated on Pachacuti money. Their own money was keeping their family held hostage all this time and paying the enemy to do it. 

As Piper told Maddy she released masses of this money into the hands of the public for instant relief. 

What was a third world country would be changing it’s status soon enough. Piper wouldn’t be altering the land magically like Delta and Frank but she’d be working with the people in a very real way. Nola and Peru would become anomalies on the map both. Neither would have traditional systems anyone was used to. What’s going on in Nola? Ask Delta or Frank. What’s going on in Peru? Ask Piper. Really there’s no oh it’s a monarchy or a democracy. It’s really, just ask Piper. She’d never call herself an Empress but at this point maybe she was. She was running Peru however she wanted until she got her system of government all worked out at the palace in Lima. 

First she had been taking a break for Christmas in New Zealand. Everything happened so fast. She left Claudius in Peru to handle things since he knew how she wanted things. He knew how she wanted things and how her demoness wanted things, put it that way. She trusted him to do things properly till she got back. 

This also made Dale jealous. It wasn’t like they were boyfriend and girlfriend but they were very tight had a very special bond. They were best friends and maybe a little more so all that extra trust and attention is just a cut in the gut. Sex he never cares about. She can date a dozen guys and it doesn’t affect him, but the trust looks a little too deep for him. It’s rubbing him a little in the ouch zone.

When it’s all said and done she’s going to be saying “I told you there was nothing to worry about” to her Papa Clopin.    

So things to take away from this: 

Yes, Piper has the splits like Clopin using puppet now. So far one that is known, the devil sock puppet. The idea was born during River’s death, her traumas just finally broke her there. Frollo has been snooping around earthbound again around Piper, Kuzco, and Bastien. He stayed clear at Christmas when he heard there was a ghost protecting the house. River’s reputation is getting around on the other plain. 

 Next up is going to be a conversation with Piper and the Papas I think. They’ve done the deed. But now it’s about actually living the consequences of having done it.

There’s going to be a lot of pressure all of a sudden in Kuzco’s life again whether Piper’s in charge or not. She’s dealing with real people and real people problems. Kuzco’s not known to be the most serious. He can be but it’s in spurts and the longevity of his attention span is short lived. Eventually there’s going to have to be a reality check on Kuzco’s ability to handle. There’s a reason he used to run away all the time. He’s not actually cut out for this stuff. 

Originally the plot intention was to push Chip and Dale off to places where they’re seen less since they don’t have much direct play with your muses but somehow apparently the Laveaus aren’t being separated. So Dale is having an angsty separation as Piper readies herself to head back to Peru. She has this portal power developed for ease of transport too, so visiting shouldn’t be a big deal but I see her slipping away here. Don’t really want to lose them to Peru and cut off from all other muses, but once there not sure where the plot goes unless it’s not the main focus. 

Maybe Peru stays as pretty as Kuzpin’s relationship for awhile and Piper’s involvement is more when she portals over for visits and gets muse involvement that way. We can wing it unless you have ideas.  

But all in all Dale is just wrecked she did all this and even made the final moves without him even after he came all that way while he was right there under his nose. Like God damn. Piper does what Piper does.

Esmeralda ( and others ) and Dino ( @spin4muses )

They had been on the run for days now. First it was by ship, then bus, then foot. When word had gotten to her that Frollo was close, Esmeralda wasted no time collecting her cherished belongings and leaving immediately with her companion Djali. It was essential to her they stayed ahead of him as much as possible. Without the risk of innocents getting hurt due to aiding she and her friend. 

Traveling had always been part of Esmeraldas life. Even when she were a little girl. Her older brother Clopin ran a traveling circus. They would travel all over Europe, performing on the street for children and adults, collecting whatever tips they could get for food and other necessities. Until she was old enough Esmeralda performed with Djali, she would dance while he did tricks. Once old enough, she started palm reading and putting her psychic abilities to use.  

For years they provided for themselves this way until the death of Frollos brother. It was rumored he was killed by a witch. It was then did Frollo start going on a murdering spree. Putting to death anyone who showed signs of being one. After rescuing a friend from his clutches, Esmeralda was now his most wanted witch. 

As the storm she predicted began, Esmeralda placed the hood of her cloak over her raven hair before aiding her four legged friend with his. “ Just a little more ways Djali, we’ll find some shelter soon.” Her words were assuring and soft as she spoke, having empathy for the tiredness her friend must have been feeling. Truth was she didn’t know where they were going to rest and with it beginning to rain, it only made the wheels in her mind turn faster. 

Hearing snapping of twigs and rustling of bushes just ahead of them, Esmeralda quickly removed the dagger she kept at her waist while Djali stood in front of her ready to attack whatever enemy was heading their way. When the other finally revealed themselves, both slowly began to relax. 

It was a woman with deep yet fiery red hair. What eased Esmeralda more was the fact she seemed to be pregnant. Looking up at his friend, Djali watched as Esmeralda put away her dagger, rain now pouring around them. “ We mean no harm,” Esmeralda began,” My friend and I here were just passing through.” 

Getting onto the ground, Caillen reached her hand out in Djalis direction. After some hesitation, the goat walked over and allowed the other woman to pet him. To his luck, he even received an apple. “ Yer friend seems tired, an’  hungry too. Ye must be as well.” Without her asking, Esmeralda helped the woman back up, once she were steady, she let her and gave her some space.

Hearing Nate calling for her, Caillen reached for Esmeraldas hand and led her through the brushes in which she emerged from,” My mate lives just ahead with his pack. I’m Caillen. His name is Nate. You’ll stay with us, they won’t mind.”

Before Esmeralda could get a word in, they were already there, being led into the large home. Realizing they were in the home of wolves, the woman nearly froze. “ Djali, stay with me.” She whispered to her friend. “ We don’t have much to give in exchange for your kindness,” Slowly Esmeralda started for the door as she spoke but was stopped when Caillen took her hand once again and led her further inside,” Oh please, we don’t wish to ruin your home. Your stables or barn will do and we’ll be gone before-....”

Once again before another word could be spoken, Esmeralda was whisked away. This time to a very large bathroom. For a moment she were left alone but just as fast as she were, Caillen had returned with some toiletries and clothes Esmeralda could already tell was going to be too big for her. 

As Caillen ran Esmeralda a bath, the two made conversation and chatted. Once in the tub, Caillen took Esmeraldas clothes to be washed for the next day. A half an hour had gone by when Esmeralda was refreshed and slightly ready to face her hosts. “ Fellas, this is Esme. She’ll be stayin’ with us for the night. Tomorrow too maybe.”

“ Oh no, we won’t wear out our welcome.” Esmeralda assured them, Djali helping himself to a bowl of food, seeming to already be doing just that. In French she quietly reminded her companion to show at least some of his manners.

the make up of (ita) is SO fun specially gringoire and frollo! clopin... i have a problem with. they put a lot of lines on his face in a similar manner as quasimodo. which. is not good. there's a reason quasi's make up look this way! it's to show his difformity. so why. give the same treatment. to clopin...

i enjoyed how clopin put himself (literally) between esme and phoebus. he's more physically protective of esme in this version which is nice!

i do not like however how in (ita) esme is much more openly flirty toward phoebus. in the original she's just dancing, minding her own business, very clearly not realizing how men look at her. that's an important part of her characterization as she gets a song with clopin where he tells her to be careful of men. so her attracting phoebus not just from doing her own thing, but by actively flirting with him goes against that song and part of her character

one perhaps positive thing about that choice is that it makes it more understandable why, when he tells her to meet him later, he's so sure she will. in (fr) she just glares at him which makes it look like he just has a giant ego and doesn't believe a woman could ever turn him down (which i prefer cause it's immensely funny) but in (ita)... yea obviously she's gonna go, as she's not being subtle about her interest here

speaking of the "be careful of men" song, in (fr) some of the lyrics are very immature, literally "men are mean" (what is she? 5 y/o?) while in (ita) it was replaced by "in this world, there are demons" which feels less awkward to listen to. it doesn't infantilize her too much, gets to the point but it's also vague enough that she wouldn't fully understand what he means exactly (who he means to warn her about)

i miss the mannerism of (fr) quasi. he acts and sounds innocent, childlike, naive. which works for his role in the story and to make the audience sympathize with him. his (ita) counterpart looks more pathetic, tortured and sad, which absolutely fit the chara too! it's an interesting choice! but part of his characterization is completely lost because of that

in the song where esme and gringoire get to know each other, she asks him the meaning of a latin word. (fr) has gringoire hesitate for a moment, having him think on it, which i liked. but i can perhaps understand why (ita) cut the hesitation. italian is closer to latin than french so perhaps it would have seemed strange to the audience

gringoire is kind of the comedy relief guy but in (ita) they keep changing his silly lines to be more serious, and i'm upset by it. let my silly guy be silly!

quasi has one BIG pathetic scene where you're supposed to feel for him even more than usual. but because (ita) actor had been playing him pathetic the whole time it doesn't hit as hard... awkward

one character has a flower name and (ita) translate it instead of keeping it as is which is strange since. it's her name. and she's french. the story is taking place in france. why are you making her italian suddenly

(ita) has them sing the name esmeralda differently than (fr). not sure how to explain this well but they elongate a different part of her name, which almost change the tempo of the song, it's a bit strange

another problem i have with (ita) esme is that on top of acting too much like a child... she give the wrong reactions to scenes. in this one she confess to quasi that she's scared of him. (fr) singer act scared to fit the lines, makes sense. but (ita) singer just... smile. i do not get this

another thing with this: (ita) esme acting childishly and (ita) quasi being so much more morose than innocent... basically reverse their roles in their relationship. i do not... get this

in (fr) quasi tells her his house is her house, if she wants it. whenever she's scared or doesn't know where to go, she will always be safe here. it's a touching scene cause he's sincere and doesn't expect anything in return. she acts shocked by it and emotional, like it's hard for her to believe/accept

but in (ita) she just... "oh yeah? cool" about it. we lost so much...

the point of this scene was that she trust him, and is no longer scared of him! quasi is now her friend! but because (ita) was never scared or touched by his kindness... we get nothing. legit you could have just cut that whole part then

lyrics changes i do not understand: (fr) "ave maria, forgive me, for i come here (the church) without shoes" (ita) "ave maria, forgive me, i don't know what i've done but you must know"

very interesting change but how did we get here. this isn't the only change in that song. both versions barely have any lyrics in common for some reason

funny lyric change (to me): in (fr) phoebus describe esme's dress as being "rainbow colored" which has always been strange to me as she only wear green. (ita) completely remove any mention of colors, instead focusing on the movement of the dress, which makes more sense for phoebus to focus on (as he's more interested in catching glimses of her legs as she dance)(legit why did he mention colors at all in (fr), as if he'd give a shit about that)

incomplete because again, the audio was really bad! in all: lyrics were improved in places but characterization lost and i have no clue what they were doing with esmeralda

she's young and that's part of what makes her tragic: not realizing when she's being used, but that doesn't mean you should have her act like a child! similarly, she shouldn't be acting in a purposefully sexual way. men look at her that way without help. having her act like a sexually confident mature woman and an innocent child with no understanding of the world at the same time is already contradictory in a ridiculous and unbelivable way! but also erase the whole point of the story: that she's a victim. neither frollo or phoebus sees her as a human being, she's just a body they want. a body that she had just grown into looking mature, making her unused to that kind of attention re the need for clopin to warn her... make it make sense! anyway, 1999 (fr) still the best

Backstory:

Esme grew up on the streets of a large metropole with only his familiar Djali to comfort him. Never having known is parents, he was forced to steal from people to stay alive. For that, his natural talent with illusion magic and just mischief were quite helpful — until he tried to steal from Ambrose the 63rd one day. However, instead of notifying the police, Ambrose the 63rd complimented Esme on his talent and almost natural use of magic and offered him a place at the Royal Sword Academy.

Unique Magic:

His unique magic is called "Dance with the Devil", and it allows him to see whatever his dance partner desires the most simply by dancing with them. The nature of his unique magic is partially responsible for his charisma and easy way with people. However, he refrains from using it too often nowadays because it temporarily links him to the target's sadness if their biggest desire is unfulfillable.

That seemed to really give Rollo a pause. It was a drop, after all, seemingly out of nowhere. She hardly uses that name, Clopin calls her that every blue moon but it is a name. Her name still, despite having another. There’s a twinkle in her eyes as she peered over at him.

”I trust you,” came her simple answer. It was true. Esme liked him well enough (more than like, more than any reasonable amount of just “like” but she can’t admit to herself with that just yet). Were they not on good terms? She’s decided on the first sighting that she’d trust him. It’s still a debate if it’s a good idea or not but her trustworthy people was small.

“My mother was French; she chose that name before she passed. Ive thought of using it more but only a select few know it. Clopin chose Esmerelda when he found me.” Named after a bracelet she has stashed away. Esme didn’t mind sharing this information. Who’s hands would be the wrong hands as he claimed? A few does coke to mind but not him.

“You can call me Agnes, if you’d like.”

Frozen with his arms crossed and his usual holier-than-you attitude, Rollo stopped his rambling, instantly forgetting what they were talking about and why he was ranting in the first place. What was that?

"Agnès?" he repeated with a strong accent from the city of Flowers. It was such a common name there, much easier to pronounce than Esmeralda. Was she lying when she said she never had been there before? But more importantly----

'Birth name' meant something happened for her to change it and choose an alias. Not the kind of information you'd share with anyone, not even with friends - unless they were close enough. Rollo didn't think he did something to that new title.

"Why are you telling me that?" He didn't know whether to feel grateful or suspicious. "This could be used against you if the wrong person were to be eavsdropping."

Any Rollo/Esmeralda headcanons?

Rollo became obsessed with Esmerelda soon as he saw her. His obsession only doubled when he realized that Esme was the la Esmerelda from the legends.

Esme always does her best to hide the fact she’s constantly in pain from the burns she’s suffered but Rollo sees right through her facade. He gets on her to “take care of herself” but helps her with finding a place to sit, and changing out her bandages. Which she tries to deny the help but when Rollo has his mind set, it’s set.

Since Rollo is easily flustered, Esme makes him such with every single opportunity possible, doesn’t matter if they’re alone or in public. She always takes her chance. He reprimands her later. *This also includes dancing. Esme loves dancing and will dance when her legs are feeling good enough. Whenever Rollo is nearby she’ll make sure he’s front and Center of her dancing. If he makes the mistake of sitting, well.

Esme made the mistake of introducing Rollo to Clopin who immediately demanded “when am I getting grandkids?” He demands this every time he sees either of them. Clopin is in full support of the couple and already thinks of Rollo as family (considering Esme never showed interest in anyone before and bam, she suddenly brings home someone).

Rollo apologized to Esme and Esme only for traumatising her further with the fire (flowers).
