ES Fireworks Festival 2024: Day 1

Kuro: Oh, got it. We’ll help carry everythin’ to the Meeting Room right away. Just leave it to Mikejima and me.

Madara: Ohhh, it’s Anzu-san and Tsumugi-san ♪ We’ve been waiting for youuu!

Kuro: Whoops. Those are some pretty heavy bags you’re carryin’. What have you got in them?

Tsumugi: Ahaha… … While Anzu-chan and I were talking as we shopped, we came up with some unexpectedly good ideas. That’s the reason we ended up making more purchases than we planned. 

Kuro: Oh, got it. We’ll help carry everythin’ to the Meeting Room right away. Just leave it to Mikejima and me. 

Madara: Here, Anzu-san. Let me carry those bags for you… … ♪

Hiyori: Come on! They’re late, late, laaate~! I’m so tired of waiting! What in the world is taking Anzu-chan so long to get here?

Yuzuru: Please be patient, Hiyori-sama. According to Aoba-sama’s last message, they’ll be arriving at ES soon… …

Kuro: Wow. Everyone’s here already, huh?

Kaoru: Of course ♪ I heard that Anzu-chan wanted to brainstorm for ideas to liven up the Fireworks Festival, so I invited everyone I could find to join us too. 

Midori: Siii~gh. I was in the middle of eating when I got dragged into this… … Uuugh. Still, I’ll try my best to come up with some good ideas.

Kohaku: Same here. And here I was thinkin’ we weren't gonna have a fireworks festival this year, since summer’s almost over and all.

Madara: HAHAHA! Kohaku-san, you were reeeally looking forward to the fireworks last year, weren’t you? ♪ I remember you were as excited as a little kid for it!

Kohaku: Seriously? There’s no call fer you to be bringin’ up such unnecessary happenin's now.

Anyway, Anzu-han, what’s this important thing you wanted to discuss?

<30 minutes later.> 

Hiyori: Yes, yes! I think that’s a great idea! I’m sure all the fans watching the livestream will be absolutely over the moon too… … ♪

Kohaku: Yep. It looks like the event this year will be even more excitin’ than the last. I’ll be sure to pass the word on to those guys in Crazy:B too. 

Kaoru: Hmmm. There’s still quite a bit of time until the main event, so everyone should have no problem coming up with their own unique performance by then, right?

Yuzuru: Fufu. Then, all that's left is to pray for good weather on that day.

Midori: Ah, Fushimi-senpai… …! In that case, why don’t we make some good weather dolls (1) together… …!

Yuzuru: Me? Well, I don’t mind at all… …

Tsumugi: We do need to decide on the costumes for the big day, right?

Kuro: Right. You can leave that to the Little Miss and me. It’s gonna be a big stage fer us, so we gotta give it our all. 

Madara: ALRIIIGHT! Now, all that's left is to wait for the big day to arrive!  Anzu-san, we’ll be counting on you for the event too ♪

Some years back I read the diary of a count at the court of Louis XIV which was titled "Nie war es herrlicher zu leben" (Never has it been as wonderful to live(?)) and that always comes to mind at New Year's - probably because he describes fireworks as well. @mayoiayasep okay so to clarify... They're not breaking up. However, they do have some unresolved issues by the end of SS, where Nagisa is beginning to actively pursue his road to godfatherhood and begun acting on his own. Ibara has indicated that he no longer knows how to deal with Nagisa.

The thing is ES is non-chronological, right? So SS takes place in the future of most of the recent events. Every single Eden event we've had since has been flashbacks that took place before SS.

This means we never got to see a resolution to Nagisa and Ibara having diverging paths, and instead is being given adorable flashbacks dates like Ibara shooting stuff down for Nagisa at the festival.

In the most recent firework event someone has commented that they're "social distancing"

And when they exit, they leave separately.

Anyway. That is all to say. I'm sure they'll be fine and they'll deal with it eventually like good kids. But there will probably be some future Adam internal conflict. Best case scenario it resolves itself like Conquest.

ANYWAY I'M STILL NOT PROCESSING THIS UNTIL 2024 who typed all this?

If I am not up to date on canon I don't have to process Adam breakup hints until 2 years later 🥲
