Anon this is such a difficult question but I think I'm in a better place to answer it this year than last year? There are some old books that I no longer love, and there are some books that I still love and would happily reread again.

I'm linking to posts where I've written about them before, and a couple to my NU reviews. it got so long that everything is under a cut.

On the HE side: 君有疾否 Are You Ill Sir?

破罐子破摔 Nothing To Lose, one of Fei Tian Ye Xiang's earliest works that he considers a part of his "dark history". It's a mess, reads like a fevered dream borne out of playing Dynasty Warriors until you drop, but I think it's the first book where FTYX showed the first sign of his genius -- his ability to write a scene like it's been pulled out of a movie. Also he writes Lu Bu like the biggest HIMBO and what's not to love really. Don't forget to read the extended extra that features an A'dou x Lu Bu x Zhao Yun sandwich. (Bless Feitian for the possibility of such a sentence)

殺破狼 Sha Po Lang - obviously

北城天街 Beicheng Tianjie - Technically gay lit, not danmei, but it reads like a modern fairy tale by the end. /you will cry

偷風不偷月 Steal On Nights Windy and Moonless - physical transmigration is a rarity in any genre, and this one was written so well, especially in its depiction of familial relationships. /tears

薄霧 Mist, this one probably got Wei Feng Ji Xu put on the map, but before this there was Rose Beauty, which I also enjoyed; actually, it's probably because I read Rose Beauty that I put up with so many zombies in this book. Go read Rose Beauty if you want good writing but without the zombies. This has So many. Zombies. Probably the best in genre for time travel, and in a way, 無限流. The plot is tight, the ship is cute, and while at some point in the middle you start to think "does this book need to be this long", by the time it gets to the end, you won't.

She's written more since then, and she's on the verge of finishing sequels to the millions of words of Bao Qingtian fanfic both period and modern and I'm not sure when I'll find time to read it all.

This will be a quick one, given how little romance I write😅

Gullin calls Ianim 'Princeling', which started when they were together at the military academy. And Erya sometimes refers to Anthea as 'my Prince' in a semi-flirty way. That's it.

There are some cute platonic nicknames though! Catnip calls everyone either by their second name, if it's one word, or a nickname derived from it. Hence Gullin is 'Greenbird', Erya - 'Ermine', Varré - 'Emerald'. Oh, and Varré calls Erya 'a (feisty little) ferret' in their internal monologue, but not out loud - even they have enough common sense not to do that.

I love this idea so much but I have such shit memory. I’m gonna try for my favorite things bout the fics if that’s ok.

The oldest recipe for parsnip soup by erya: one of my most recent favorites (I read it like last week). I loved the care taken with Sirius’ relationship with food. I was very similar to how I struggled with eating when I was a teenager. My favorite scene has to be when Sirius finally opens up to Remus and Remus goes “is that it” and accepts Sirius for all his self perceived faults and shared some of his own

Just lovers (like we were supposed to be) by bizarrestars: this fic is literally the jegulus bible to me. I read this last September when I had just discovered the marauders fandom. My favorite scene is when James and regulus are talking about a book Regulus borrowed and how he’s annotated it. James finds a passage highlighted and he doesn’t believe it’s something Regulus would relate to maybe and Regulus says he didn’t highlight for himself. That he felt the quote spoke more to James character. It’s so cute he thought about James while reading something. I actually screenshotted the page because I love the scene sm.

My almost lover by alarainai: all I remember from this is them both slowly falling in love and Regulus opening himself up and accepting James (oblivious) love. And also all the jealousy scenes are way too funny, how can James possibly be that protective of white friend. Overall hilarious fic.

Operation Walburga’s arbitrary no kissing ever rule by courfee: if I’m honest all the party scenes were my favorite. I thought the author set up the atmosphere of marauders era Hogwarts perfectly and all the side characters were characterized perfectly to me. I am a huge 10tihay fan but the story still felt so fresh and original

There are definitely other fics I love and adore but I’m so head empty I can’t for the life of me remember the plots

There’s been so much hate in the fandom the last few days I figured it’s time to spread some love.

1. Sirius chasing Remus down the streets and them getting back together in A Brief History of Dragons by @eyra (also my ultimate comfort read)

2. Remus caving in to Sirius’ temptations to get a sandwich for a hungry child in The Fall by @euripidestrousers (also some of the hottest smut I’ve read. The altar scene? Zero notes)

3. The first meeting in Winterlude by @otrtbs (also the only fic of theirs I can read without bawling my eyes out. Some of my favourite Regulus characterisation)

Tanya's like a really young ceo(dunno how to fit her whole reincarnation thing in this yet) and the members of her squad are her employees! Visha's her assistant, Weiss is a secretary (because i can) and Grantz and Lotte are the newbies/trainees(estagiários). The newbies all love visha cause she's perfect and kind, and buys everyone coffe, everyone at some point in time has had a crush on her, sadly for them she's happily married to Erya.

Mary is a country girl who moves to the city to get revenge after tanya's run her dad's company out of business and that led to him being unemplpyed. She starts working for a rival company, she's like really bad at office stuff but really good at getting sales, she considerstanya her worst rival but tanya doesn't even know why Mary hates her.

Shenenigans happen and they becoms ~ROOMATES~!! Mary knows she should hate tanya but cant stop thinking she hot, and cute aaaand yeah she kinda falls in love. Tanya just thinks the situation is alward and begins to understand why all of Mary's coworkers hate her (she's a force of nature) but begins to soften up to her.

Being x is a cat that Mary adopted and i like to think he acts all nice when Mary's around but likes to be bossy, he is a pest around tanya, cause less nice about the messes he makes and doesn't let hi boss around the house.

Sorry if this seems obssessive it's because it is, this au has lodged it self around my brain and i cant stop thinking about it

Happy blorbo blursday! I've been thinking about how Neb and Oran's "love language" is coming up with mildly irritating nicknames for people (such as calling Isabel "The Great-Aunt" even though they have at least four other great-aunts). Do any of your characters have strange or goofy ways of showing affection? Or, conversely, do you have any characters that also like to give people (annoying) nicknames?

Erya brings Anthea scraps of information for which anyone else would pay a fortune, much like a cat bringing dead mice.

Gullin will mock and tease ceaselessly. Oh, Ianim likes fancy outfits? That's Gullin's cue to wear the most worn, badly fitted jacket he owns. Lissan is a tiny bit vain and self-conscious about being the youngest? Let's point out every time he pouts, which is cute, but also makes him look young.

Marta's way of showing affection is brutal bluntness.

Less goofy, but: both Lissan and Varré will at some point start treating you like a family member. There's no escape.

Do you have any characters that also like to give people (annoying) nicknames?

I was trying to come up with pet names and such, but alas, I failed. The two nicknames appearing on page so far is Gullin calling Ianim 'the Princeling', much to Ianim's chagrin, and Varré referring to Erya as 'a feisty little ferret' - though that's only in their POV narration; they have enough common sense not to say it out loud.

Ares had been sleeping on the top bunk in the back of Chevali’s Vardo, when the sound heavy smashing against wood woke him up. He leaned up so fast he hit his head on the roof, but ignored the sudden pain in his forehead, and rolled over to see what was going on. 

On the ground below him, he saw Erya fumbling with a large chest. Sighing, he jumped down and rubbed his forehead, “What’re ya doin’?”

Erya startled, and dropped the chest. Instead of looking upwards though, she kicked it over with a frustrated groan. She then turned around, and sat down on the side of the chest, and crossed her arms with a pout. 

Ares hesitated for a second, and dropped his arms to his sides, “You okay?” “No. I’m mad.“ She huffed. “I can tell.“ Ares replied, before repeating, “What’s up?“ 

Erya didn’t respond. She tapped her arm and puffed out her cheeks, so Ares sighed, and dropped down onto a knee to get a better look at her face, “I haven’t seen ya since Valentines... did somethin’ happen?”

She tried to avoid his gaze for a second, and it looked like she was struggling to decide whether or not to respond, but in the end, she huffed, “Valentines is exactly what happened! Ugh!”

That opened the floodgates, and she finally turned to look at him, “I like, made a lot of money on Valentines, like, ‘a lot, a lot’. But like, I guess I am just so good that some people had the gall to approach Papa and ask for my hand in marriage or to buy me. And like, now Papa’s all defensive. And like, you know what he told me? He told me it ‘might be time for me to find myself a husband who won’t mind me dancing for others’ - like what? Why would anyone mind me dancing? I am not a stripper or anything! So like, anyone who has a problem can fuck right off, and wouldn’t deserve me anyway! And then like, you know what he said? He recommended that I marry one of his bratty sons.”

Ares held back a laugh. She was so frustrated that she was all over the place. It sounded rather ridiculous to him, but not something new, “And what did ya say?” Erya puffed out her cheeks, “I told him thanks but no thanks, and like, he was all like worried and stuff that some guy would come along and snatch me from the Family, and that he would feel better if I ‘wasn’t available’ so I couldn’t ‘cave to temptations’.”

Ares wasn’t sure what to respond with that. Erya was speaking so fast it took him a second or two to even register what she said. Before he could though, she suddenly jumped up and wrapped her arms around his neck. 

“Hey~ I’ve got an idea!“ She whispered, “Why don’t we run away? Just the two of us?“  Ares backed right into the bunks behind him, and nearly stumbled, “W-what?” “Yeah! We can get a small cabin on some property somewhere, and you can join the Ranger’s Guild and go on adventures, and I’ll sing and dance in the local tavern! Then, I can meet a handsome young patron and we can hit it off, and then you can come in with the ‘protective brother spiel’, and he’ll have to work for your approval!”

“W-what the heck are ya talkin’ about?“ Ares finally spat out.  Erya seemed content with that reaction, and laughed. She pried herself away from him, and sat back down on the chest. She stuck her bottom lip out and looked away, “I just don’t want this to be it, you know? When I get married, I want to put down roots. Have kids somewhere safe, where they aren’t taught to pickpocket at a young age, and be able to sleep through the night without using darkness as a cover to sneak anywhere.” She paused for a second, “Papa would never allow that though...“ 

Her expression lit up for a moment, and she looked up at Ares with a sarcastic smirk, “Oh I know! You should overthrow Papa and become the new Chief~ it’s what he’s ‘oh-so-worried’ about anyway. And then you can release me, or ‘sell’ me to a wealthy noble who’ll treat me like a Queen~” “That’s- I’m not doin’ that!“ Ares flustered. He could feel his face burning bright red in embarrassment,  “I was just kidding, jeez!“ Erya laughed. 

She stood up and stretched her arms far up into the air, “Mmmm!” She let them fall to her sides again. She grinned, and reached up to pat his head - which was difficult for her, since she barely came up to his chests, “You’re too cute for your own good. Your big sister is proud~” 

Obviously in a better mood than when she entered, Erya turned around and skipped towards the exit. Ares stared after her with a bewildered look as she left, feeling like he was just through a hurricane or something...

Both Ianim and Gullin enjoy making new friends at pubs, but seeing the rest of the list, Gullin will go there after the arcade, putting on his best 'bad boy charm'

Ianim is going to love the local museums

Hmm... Ianim is also the only one to drink coffee, but it sounds like his day is full already. If I can borrow Rilna from TTT, she'll be quite happy in a coffee shop for the afternoon.

And no, Anthea an Erya aren't coming, they're both too busy.
