Erwin X Reader | His Last Mission

Warning: Spoiler, some cuss words. Author's Note: I loved this idea! lemme know if you'd like to see some headcanons about how he was after retirement.

"Can I come in, Sir?" You said in your professional voice as you entered Erwin's office.

"There is no one here," he said with a soft voice as he slowly lifted his eyes from the paperwork he has been working on and gave you the smile that always calms you down.

You both were going out on the Shiganshina mission tomorrow and you both didn't have even a little bit of time left to spend with each other.

One thing that you realized after all these years of being on the survey team is that you never know which day is your last outside these walls so you always make it a priority to spend time with the ones that are close to you before you head out or before they head out. And this right here was you man so doing the paperwork was the last thing that either of you wanted to do. 

Erwin and you have been going out for quite some time now and with the way he tasks risks, you're always worried if he'll come back or not. You were so happy when you found out that you were selected for this mission because you knew that this is a huge one and he'll be reckless for sure. At least you'll be there to help him out as much as you.

You locked the door behind you and walked over to him and kissed him softly as you sat on his lap. You both knew that this is the best you can do right now given the work that is still left to do. "You should get some rest." You said half whispering as you lay your head on his chest.

Meanwhile, everyone thought you to be dead. So did Erwin. He then declared to lead the suicide mission that will be the key to making this mission a success. He did that and it WAS a success.

As you woke up you could hear Levi and Mikasa. It was hard to recognize where it was coming from because of the weak consciousness. But you figured soon that they were on the top of the building. You got back your strength and went outside.

As you reached on top you could see Mikasa was on top of Levi about to slay her blade, and that is when you stopped her. You knew you were too weak to stop her in this condition.

You saw Erwin in a really bad state. Your whole body stopped then and there. You felt so weak but Levi's voice arguing with Mikasa brought you back.

On the other side, there was a completely burnt body. Soon you understood what was going on and who that body was.

Levi was looking over to you again and again so that you'll side with him on giving the syringe to Erwin.

"Give it to Armin," you said after being silent for what felt like an eternity. Even though this was not what even a cell in your body wanted to do but it was either your feelings or the future of humanity.

You went over to Erwin. The only and biggest problem was that he had lost a lot of blood. You shouted if anyone had the blood type that goes with his and apparently Hange did. You always carried your equipment with you in the missions. Sadly they always came in handy and this time to your biggest fear, you were using them on your love.

You did the transplant but were not sure how he is going to react to it. Or if he'll even make it. You were by his side the entire time making sure that whenever he woke up you tried to keep him that way but failed most of the time.

Nonetheless, he made it back and got healthy and left scouts for good. He has been planning to do it way earlier but wanted to make sure that he gives his best. You on the other hand stayed because you had excellent medical skills and you could help the scouts when they are out and about.

After a few months, you two made it official that you were dating but never told anyone that this has been going on for longer than this.

A/N: This was written for @erwinswings by request for my 25 followers event. The OC, Fox, is their creation and I'm happy that they trusted me enough to write a tiny little something for them using their OC.

“You want to help me cook?” Erwin looked over his shoulder at Fox with the faintest of smiles playing on his lips. It wasn’t that he didn’t think his husband would want to help; it was more that Erwin wasn’t making anything that would require too much prep work. Still he wasn’t going to deny Fox anything.

With slightly furrowed brows, Fox leaned on the counter beside his husband. “Isn’t that what I said?”

The blond man laughed softly and nodded, handing Fox the knife he had just been using to chop some vegetables. He knew better than to argue after all and he always enjoyed Fox’s company. Especially doing something as simple as making dinner together.

They fell into a comfortable silence, sharing soft glances as they each worked on prepping the food. Erwin became vaguely aware of music playing in the background and he softly laughed to himself, knowing it was his husband’s doing. As he prepared to get things cooking on the stove, Erwin set everything aside for a moment. He had, after all, a better idea for what they could be doing. Even if it was only for a moment.

Instead his hand moved to rest on the other man’s hip before he pulled Fox toward himself with a soft smile. He didn’t say anything – he didn’t have to – as he started to sway to the music. Fox fell into step with Erwin immediately, falling perfectly in sync with the one person in this sometimes completely fucked up world who made him feel safe and happy. Erwin leaned in to place a soft kiss on his lover’s lips as they swayed a while longer, enjoying a quiet moment where he and Fox got to feel the only two people in the world.
