Chris knows the sounds of explosions and gunfire more than he knows anything else. He knows the feeling of blood-soaked clothes and heavy bulletproof vests weighing down on his chest as if they’re meant to be worn everyday. He’ll never forget the weight of a gun in his hand, won’t forget how to curl his fingers around a knife and hold it outwards, waiting for whatever is going to lunge at him from the darkness.

But Chris knows the sound of your voice, too. Knows the feeling of your skin underneath his fingertips, how your weight feels lying on top of him late at night. He loves how your hand squeezes his, how your arms wrap around his neck to hold him closer.

His apartment became yours once you stepped into his life. Your makeup is scattered across the counter in his bathroom, your clothes are in his closet, your soaps are in his shower, the smell of his cigarettes quickly mixed with the smell of your perfume. Chris loves it, really. It didn’t happen overnight, Chris wasn’t around all that much, but you always waited and showed up whenever you wanted to, he gave you a spare key for a reason.

He thinks you care about him more than you should, that you shouldn't worry about him so much and that you don't need to give him a massage every time he comes home along with an actual meal instead of whatever food was being rationed out to him on his latest mission. But you do, every single time. Chris wishes you would sleep and not stay up texting him when he tells you he's on his way home, he won't admit that seeing your endless row of texts filling his screen with news of what he's missed over the past few days never fails to make him smile.

You've always known that what Chris does is dangerous, you don't know that he fights monsters straight out of sci-fi movies, but what matters to you is that he comes home in one piece. Truth is, you love him, and he lets you. Chris isn't always the easiest to love and care for, you know there are things he doesn't tell you, but the way he holds you in the morning while he's still asleep is something else entirely.

The time that you did learn about everything he did was after the Edonia and China mess.

You thought he left you, what else were you supposed to think when he went completely radio silent for almost a year? No one seemed to know where he was, you hadn't gotten any news that he was dead, so he had to still be alive, right? You still took care of his apartment, making sure no one broke in, you were hardly back at your own place the whole time he was away, you were just hoping that a few things would be moved around the apartment whenever you came to check on it, just a hint that he was back home and hadn't told you yet.

But he went to your home the night he came back, was there to catch you when you broke down and cried about all the horrible things you thought had happened to him. At least he showered before he came to you. He sounded like a broken record, apologizing over and over again while you just clutched onto his shirt with your head buried in his shoulder.

It took you maybe an hour to calm down, he had the decency to wait for you to stop hiccuping through your tears before he explained himself. You've got every right to be mad at him, and he knows you are, but he's sure you'll nag him some other time when you're not holding onto him like a lifeline.

You probably don't even believe what he's telling you about bioweapons, you don't even know what the fuck that word really means, but it's his job to get rid of them, play exterminator. You just sat there on your bed with a confused expression the whole time, leaning on his shoulder while you sniffled softly. They're monsters, that's how he described them, like something you see in nightmares.

"So... what, like... Godzilla, or something? That's what they are?" You asked him, eyebrows still knitted together. Chris just looked at you, not really sure how to tell you that the undead weren't even in the same category as some of the things he's fought over the years.

"Yeah, kinda." He didn't need to explain further, you were too tired to comprehend the horrors mankind could make. So he let you sleep, kept you in his arms the whole night. He'd wait until tomorrow to tell you he had to keep doing this until the day he died, but he promised to not keep you waiting the next time he leaves.

Chris decides that years later, when you're in the kitchen, sitting across from him at the table burping a baby over your shoulder, not his, not yours, that he can't lose you. He almost lost Jill, did lose Piers and Ethan, along with countless other teammates along the line. But now he's got Ethan's baby in his house, he told you more things about his job now, he told you what happened to Ethan and that Rose would be in his care for a little bit, you had only smiled at him.

He should've married you by now. God, what kind of man was he? Dating the woman of his dreams for over a decade and never even trying to propose? He doesn't know why you let him get away with that. You've long since moved in with him, all your things were practically in his apartment by the time he asked if you just wanted to stay and not leave, took absolutely nothing to convince you.

And looking at you with Rose in your arms finally makes him realize as he's pushing fifty that he should have settled with you sooner. Maybe you just never asked because of his job, maybe you were fine with how things were.

"Did you... ever want kids?" He mumbled, avoiding your gaze and instead staring into his coffee cup. You have to think for a second, still rocking the baby in your arms back and forth.

"One would've been nice." You answer him. Shit, now he feels like he's ruined everything.

"I'm sorry."

"Don't be, I'm happy we waited." Chris looked up at you, not expecting to be greeted with the smile on your face. You stand up to put Rose into her highchair so you can go get your toast from the toaster, Chris follows you after a few seconds.

"Don't know how you put up with me," His hands find their way to your waist, pressing his chest to your back and resting his head against yours. His hands are still rough from years in battle, he doesn't think he'll ever really be able to relax, but you still love to dote on him whenever you can, it makes him feel like he's meant to be here with you.

"Well, you're quite handsome." Chris smiles and presses a kiss to the side of your head, there have been mornings like this hundreds of times, he can only hope for more in the future.

"You're too good to me."

"Lucky you,"

"I know." He's got the day off, he should go buy you a ring, make things more permanent than they already are.

It started off with a few stolen glances and a sudden gift disguised as a piece of chocolate cake arriving at your table…

And it’s been history ever since.

He was always finding some way to make you fold and he knew exactly what he was doing too. Stringing you on with quick but sensual kisses, “I gotchu, jus’ be patient.” licking his lips whenever the energy of his heated stares was matched by you, his hands rhythmically rubbing up and down your thighs, his eyes always being locked on you whenever you spoke. . .There was no way in hell you were going to make it out unscathed. 

Quick and flirty banter is definitely a pillar in you guy’s relationship, feeling comfortable enough to go back and forth with each other.

“Don’t miss me too much! i’ll see you soon, baby.”

“Dont miss you too much? I’ll be missing you the whole week, ma.” 

He loved buying you bracelets and necklaces with his or your name engraved on them, cute lil’ bags he be seeing you eyeing whenever you walk through Chanel, giving you personalized free VIP access to his shows, shit...sending drivers to pick you up and bring you to said shows. And he always made sure you ate and did whatever you needed to do.

“You eat? Nah fuck that, you hungry?”

“...Don’t play with me, y/n.”

Brent is definitely a sweet-heart in the beginning, well...in his own little way. He’s a romantic but not hopeless. He knew how to show you he cared while also not overplaying his part and things would definitely need time to build up into an actual relationship too. You weren’t stupid, you knew that even though you knew him on a deeper level than all the fame and even as far as to say you knew him as Christopher, he’s still gonna Brent Faiyaz at the end of the day. There were still going to be precautions, external problems, internal problems, and then internal problems egged on by the external ones; loving him was going to be anything but easy. But your connection started to change in different ways too, the relationship would start off with lots of excitement and rose-tinted lenses until feelings started growing and shit got serious; you was thinking it was going to give Jackie Brown and a dash of search & rescue baby...but in reality, it's giving what you heard and session 32 😭. (coughs in this nigga has avoidant attachment issues) 

As soon as he realized what you two had going on was developing into something deeper, he started getting distant. Missing calls, ignoring texts, even coming up with half-assed excuses for missed dates and blowing you off. 

“My bad, I had a lot of shit going on.” 

“I was in the studio, you know how it be, y/n.”

 “I got too caught up in London, that shit was crazy.” 

“You think i could call you back though?” 

And soon the arguments came and you two started staying mad at each other for days on end, not even bothering to try and smooth things over like in the beginning of the relationship. It was hard and it gave you a lot of anxiety. You wouldn't say that you felt unsafe perse, but you definitely didn't feel comfortable. “You mean to tell me that you can't answer the fucking phone for three seconds, Chris??” You shouted, frustration built up in your voice and it was obvious that you were fed the fuck up. It didn't help that the man sitting in front of you was quick to roll his eyes and smack his teeth, but what definitely didn't help was his smart-ass mouth. “Ain't nobody tell you to hit my jack and start losing yo shit, y/n. That's the shit that be blowing me.” 

“I don’t hear from you for days and you expect me to not get worried? You’re mad at me for giving a fuck about you??”

“Whatever, man.”

The whole thing would just progressively get worse as you two went back and forth. you saying petty shit while he just dismissed your feelings until he decided that he would just tell you shit you wanted to hear so the situation would be deaded.

 “I’m sorry, y/n...” he’d say soothingly in your ear, massaging your hips in circular motions as you’d lay your head on top of his chest, close to where his heart beats. “You know I be missing you like crazy. you can't stay mad at me for too long, baby.” and he was right. This routine repeated and repeated itself over and over again until he stopped ‘comforting’ you and just seemingly stopped caring altogether. 

“Nah bro, you tweakin’.” 

“Okay, y/n. stop calling my phone then, problem solved.”

“And you swear you don’t see how your point doesn’t make sense?”

“You got it, y/n.”

With time, you two just broke away from each other, but never ended things officially. It went from short brief phone calls to text messages and eventually, those stopped too. A hole was left in your chest and you couldn’t help but feel as if you wasted your time, continuously punishing yourself because you gave out a part of yourself you won't get back ━ but you couldn’t help but miss him. You’d find yourself compensating for his absence, making two plates of everything, migrating to his unspoken side of the bed, never taking the flowers he got you out of the vase you put them in; even though they long withered away. “I can't believe this nigga got me out here wasting food, groceries are expensive...Eggs are almost four fucking dollars! I can't do this shit, I need to get a grip and be fucking forreal.” 

But let's not pretend he didn’t find himself trying to make sense of your absence, too.

Fake Wedding Date Sakusa - i remember this was one of the first times i wrote for kiyoomi and also one of the first times in a while where my heart was actually racing as i was writing it LOL but seriously he is the blueprint for protective, attentive boyfriend

blood moonlit, must be counterfeit - don't get me wrong!! I like this fic, but writing it was kinda hard because it didn't come to me as easily as bakugo fics usually do. rushed romantic interactions without a lot of exposition aren't my forte, so cramming in a makeout session at the end felt off. but i'm glad everyone liked it nonetheless !

Most definitely No Prey, No Pay (opla!zoro x you) - this fic was when i really started liking writing banter and continuing the worldbuilding from the first fic was fun :)

Beach Day (End Game series) - i am sooo proud of this entire series but this chapter in particular is my favorite of all time. it felt like a perfect culmination of the romantic tension established thus far, and the implication of former pro!reader made it even sweeter

How I Met Your Mother - I love this show so much and I don’t believe it deserves to be forgotten about just because it had a shit ending. It was created almost perfectly

Watership Down - this book has the best worldbuilding I have ever experienced and in this essay I will tell you exactly why-

The Outsiders - there’s a reason why every school forces its students to read this book, it’s a masterpiece and the characters are all amazing

Little Shop Of Horrors (1986) - this is the best movie musical. This isn’t up for debate. It uses stylisation so well and its lack of restraint makes it work so much better. The musical itself is so brilliantly written and don’t even get me started on the story it’s self oh my goodness I love this movie

Futurama - now this is a great show, anyone who’s watched it will probably agree, but the way it creates the future is so brilliant. It’s the perfect world for this kind of show with this type of comedy to be set in. And all the small details that never get addressed just in the background make the year 3000 what it is

okok so Yellow guy is Dory right and (idk who marlin and nemo are ermm maybe duck idk) and Lesley is kind of like Sigourney? And Red guy is obv Hank. Roy is Dory's parents,, he's still a bad parent btw

I was thinking the "ocean" here is like a big tv/filming set but the "ocean" itself more kinda just a storage unit? Bc that way the Exhibits would be like the "dollhouse sets" with the teachers and all that. Theres also more puppets than Duck, Red and Yellow but theyre not important (they all have pretty much the same consciousness level as the fish in the movie do. like they think this is just life for them and dont rly question it. except for the main guys ig). And I think the gore would still be there ? but only in the way the Movie makes things scary (like w the touching scene). It's scary for them, but the humans dont get it. I think it'd probably be like how slapstick is just humorously exaggerated violence for viewers, but it's not,, humorous for the puppets.

"Cleveland" is probably something like,,selling the puppets to fans or collectors or or something like that. Somewhere that gets them away from the horrors of the teachers and "viewers" that isnt just the storage unit. And Red being more aware than the others (id imagine hes also been there for longer than most) fits perfectly with Hank in the movie. Speaking of age (kinda), Yellow isss not exactly a young puppet ? but he was Created to be a child, so hes always gonna be . a childish puppet. And him having spent most of his time in the ""storage unit"" he also couldnt really get any more mature/older in there. I don't think the puppets not used are just numbly sitting somewhere, but they probably cant do or talk about much since most of the ones there are either old, damaged beyond repair or just unused. I think dhmis's plot could still have happened ? Both the web series and then the tv show. it'd just take a WHILE before Red and Yellow meet again after, and both would have forgotten about each other by then (especially with their memories being erasable)

From there the plot is pretty much the same as the movie. Yellow gets a "tag" or string around his arm, Red tries to get him to give it to him and they make the agreement (reunite yellow and roy in one of the sets, get the string and be sold). Btw (idk where else to add this) but red is like one of the only tall puppets, i dont think he wouldve been sold had he been an option sorry.

roy. Hes still like not a good parent but yellow wouldnt know that. he just remembered his weird computer dad and has to meet him again. The flashbacks dory gets are probably still the same, like they teach yellow the same lessons, only that roy taught them in probably very,,, not wholesome ways. like (bad example but) the whole "theres always another way" would probably not be about shells and helping, but Yellow trying to kill a fly with his hands and not succeeding, and roy comes along and shoots it with a gun out of the air. i dont think roy can talk besides making vague grunts and noises so he probably wouldnt have said "theres always another way" but thats what yellow took away, (this was also before his batteries became rusty) (i like to think he also has batteries here, but its just like . his learning capacity. and generally like brain storage stuff yk?) so when he had good batteries, combined with his general purpose (being a kids learning show puppet) he was able to take away good lessons from stuff like that. He never told the whole stories of the "lessons" he took away from his dad to Red but he probably talked about little snippets that made Red slowly realize Roy wasnt the most amazing. I don't think Yellow remembered any of the DHMIS Lessons/Teachers but he Does remembers little bits of Roy that popped up in there (Family part, "my dad is a computer"/"im friends with my dad") (i should mention that Red doesnt remember the dhmis events very well himself, mostly cuz yk canon memory erasing, but he does remember important bits like him finding the filming studio stuff in dhmis4, maybe unplugging basically the whole buildings electricity ? instead of unplugging Roys .. thing ?, having "escaped" and found the storage units), and those also start up some memories of the show in reds brain but he cant quite piece together that Yellow was with him in the old shows.

When Red drops Yellow at one of the sets (open ocean tank) off and Yellow is alone for a while, I dont think hed have a Marlin (partially cuz i dont know WHY duck would or could have followed him) that he can meet, Destiny and Bailey are probably just some random puppets (IM SORRY I love those 2 but theres no other characters besides teachers!!!) I DONT KNOW WHat would happen there. But whatever, he meets Roy and roy just doesnt really care ig (girl im running out of plot) and while that happens, Red in the truck to "cleveland" pieces togehter "Hey wait a second.Roy doesnt sound like a good dad and im emotionally attached now" and uhmmm he hijacks the car and goes back ???? im really runnign out of ideas i didnt think this far ahead ermmmm. idk Red and roy battle to death or something and then red and yellow decide to go find Duck cuz they remembered each other now ,,,,, anddd thats it thats the end someone else think for me Please im out of creative juice

Have a grand GRAND wedding: Canonically speaking, 2 and 5 already had their grand weddings :’). OTP 1 is too tragic, 3 TBD, and 4 are too smitten/distracted with volleyball they’re just gonna wind up fighting who’s gonna take it to the altar.

Argue over honeymoon destination: OTP 4 OBVIOUSLYYY ROFL. Like, they’re literally fated to bicker with each other??? They’re born into their world for the sole purpose of it and they won’t survive a day without one. Otherwise, everyone else would think something’s wrong LMAOOO.

Have burnt food for breakfast: OTP 1 (Hange parody vers.) doesn’t know how to take care of herself so Levi just kinda barges in her room each time she’s too indulged with her experiments and Levi fills the perfect waifu role. Do candlelight dinner at home and throw rose petals on their bed for anniversary: Surprisingly, NONE, LOL. OTP’s 1 (Hange) and 5 (Dojin) maybe...? The rest of the OTP’s are too bashful to do such an extent, hence they’re most likely resort to simple surprises might be fear of rejection idk.
