💜💜💜 yeah it was pretty good! started out with a message that somebody I'd been talking to about a possible trade had just opened a blind box and gotten the Loki pin I wanted, so I was able to set that trade up first thing, and I got several gifts mailed off too (including yours!), which made me feel pretty accomplished. plus I got to hang out with @erlkonigstochter, and we watched a new Monster Factory video and I wrote a bunch of words in the fic that's ruining my life (they weren't very good words but at least they exist). and especially driving home, it was insanely cold, like 5F or less at that point, but everything was completely still with a heavy ice fog in the air and thick hoar frost on all the trees, and as much as the massive amount of snow recently has been frustrating, everything looked absolutely beautiful yesterday.

Hartwin did okay! They definitely fucked around and found out in a lot of places, but when it finally counted, they made the right choice lol. I think they’re gonna have some readjusting after lots of tadpoles in their brain…12-15? Something like that? Their brain got super fucked up, man. No way they’re just fine now. I know I missed a lot of things and made some other choices, so I’m excited to see how else things can go. I’ve already learned something today on my…technically 3rd play thru of at least act 1 oops lol

If you guys are wondering how the hell a fledgling got a hold of Sascha Vykos's jacket, here's the story:

The coterie, consisting of Wendel (@erlkonigstochter) and Hector (@orodrethsgeek) woke up in a sewer as fledglings with no idea of wtf just happened. This is a blind fledgling game -- they don't know what clans they are and don't know much at all about the VTM universe, so they're learning as their characters do. Well, I stuck a cop at the top of the top of the manhole to check out an alley that's absolutely covered in blood... sorta like how Hector woke up covered in blood (Wendel, however, is fine). It was supposed to be their first hunger frenzy test, and to introduce the concept of hunger to them, and when one of them lost it, it was supposed to be a pretty big clue-by-four as to what they were, now.

Ran into a big problem, though:

They both passed the hunger frenzy.

See, I'm also new to VTM as a tabletop, so I made assumptions I shouldn't have. And the first assumption was that hunger frenzy tests were harder than they actually were.

That cop was supposed to bite the dust. She did not bite the dust. She was still alive and wondering WTF was going on that a blood-covered man just came out from a goddamn sewer!

Meanwhile Wendel's totally chill as if he does that ALL THE TIME because he KNOWS cops smell fear.

Therefore naturally, when one of my players is covered in blood and finds themself in a strange place with someone who is not covered in blood, and his last memory is of the non-bloody person basically assaulting him (Wendel was Dominated into physically taking Hector's phone from him), and he sees a cop on the scene...

Guys.

I am so fucking dumb.

I have no idea why the FUCK I didn't prepare for what could happen if they won the frenzy roll. I did not intend for that cop to live.

And one of my new baby vampires is confused and basically crying and the only reason he didn't openly accuse Wendel of being the one to leave him covered in blood is because he's too hysterical to actually say that. Also Wendel is standing right there.

So I'm sitting there, pretending I know exactly what I'm doing, while actually shitting my pants thinking FUCK FUCK FUCK GET RID OF THE COP, GET RID OF THE COP.

I get an idea: they're supposed to meet Sascha Vykos down a sewer in a couple of sessions (they know this now even though it hasn't happened yet thanks to a resident Malkavian, so that's safe to share), so I'm like, actually, why don't I just... get Sascha and Rose to show up early and get rid of the cop?

So Sascha and Rose show up. Sascha gets the cop to fuck off, amuses themself by picking on Hector for a bit. Since Wendel and Hector aren't shitting their pants at the sight of Sascha, but are clearly Kindred-adjacent (as despite being covered in blood and having a mental breakdown, Hector is absolutely fine), Sascha just blows them off as being a couple of ghouls. Especially as Rose is already aware that Hector is both mortal and has links to the Tremere Chantry, so she just presumes Hector is a Tremere ghoul.

But he's really distressed, and because of the clan compulsion, Rose wants to help Hector at least a little. So she asks Sascha to give Hector their jacket to hide the worst of the blood stains.

And at first Sascha isn't going to, but then they remember that Rose said that Hector is associated with the Tremere. So they're like, "Oh my god, I have GOT to do this, you just KNOW the Tremere are going to SHIT THEMSELVES if they ever find out that that jacket's mine!"

So Sascha, purely for the lols, gives Hector the jacket, simply because they wanted to troll the Tremere if they ever found out about it later.

(I already know how Sascha's going to troll Hector about it later if they find out Hector now knows who they are. It's going to be hilarious.)

thanks! it started out a little rough, with waking up early and then my brain being an asshole, but then things improved and, like, the universe gave me a bunch of birthday gifts?

I got some very nice birthday messages on Twitter (and some of the Facebook ones actually had some thought behind them, as opposed to the ones that clearly mean "I haven't thought about you since this time last year when Facebook told me to say happy birthday, and now Facebook is telling me to say happy birthday again, so I'm saying it")

I just happened to be on Instagram at the exact right time to snag a 50% one-time-use discount code that I used on a couple really nice Sylvie and Wanda pins

I got a $10 coupon code for Popshop Live and another seller with a cool Sylvie pin was having a sale today plus free shipping so I got that pin for free

I might have also bought myself a few more gifts on there and other little shops, shhh

I had my free birthday Starbucks drink and a mostly free lunch because of the current McDonald's promotion

I successfully found some Christmas gifts for my sister, which isn't all that fun or exciting but it is a relief

I came home to some fun mail

and Hazy, my sweet adorable neurotic bratty gremlin baby, light of my life but also sometimes the actual worst, gave me a major gift: I ended up being gone for over two and a half hours, my longest absence yet by at least 20 minutes, and she was completely calm every time I checked on her. she even spent a lot of it curled up sleeping, as far as I could tell, when normally she at least stays awake and watches the door. I don't want to assume anything from that, but it's great no matter what, especially since last Saturday we had what seemed like a bad regression where she wouldn't calm down enough to let me leave at all, for the first time in ages, and I was worried we might've lost months of progress for no obvious reason. apparently we have not! (she was somewhat fussy on the next short absence I attempted after last Saturday, but she did calm down that time and she's been fine every time since, culminating in today, so I really have no idea what the problem was earlier.)

so yeah, all in all it turned out pretty good!

Ooh can you describe Connor’s tell, smile, and posture?

What their “tell” is for lying: Connor is an awful, awful liar. He usually avoids directly lying as much as he possibly can, but in the rare case that he does, it’s painfully obvious. He’ll avoid eye contact and stand strangely far away while he speaks, most often looking up and over his shoulder as if he’s trying to find someone else to talk to. He’ll run his hand through his hair a whole bunch, and when he’s extra nervous he’ll touch his lips a lot. He stands stiffer than usual when he lies as well. He’s pretty okay at lying through omission, though, but he’ll still look tenser than usual when there’s something he’s not saying. 

How they smile: He’s got a really cute, dopey, crooked smile when he’s pleased. He smiles with his eyes a lot, and they get very crinkly. He very quickly cracks into a grin though, and when he’s at that point, it’s all cheesy, full teeth, dimples, the whole shebang. When he’s grinning, his eyes are almost entirely closed — he actually has to put effort into keeping them open. He has a very endearing, honest smile, and it’s really a shame that very few people get to see it. Once Connor regains decent control of his emotions he becomes pretty quiet and somber most of the time, usually just giving others a sort of half-smile that falls back to neutral in seconds. 

Posture: Tall. Connor is a tall boi, coming in around 6’5”, and he knows how to use his height to get the full “imposing leader” effect. He stands very straight, with proper posture and shoulders back — something that he doesn’t even think about after being a templar all those years. Even when he’s tired, he doesn’t slump much, especially not in public, since he generally sees poor posture as a sign of weakness that he can’t afford. He stands with his weight evenly distributed, feet a little further than shoulder-width apart, hips and chest set squarely facing whatever or whoever has his attention. (He does slouch a little around Dorian though, gotta give the bf easy access to kisses)
