Hartwin did okay! They definitely fucked around and found out in a lot of places, but when it finally counted, they made the right choice lol. I think they’re gonna have some readjusting after lots of tadpoles in their brain…12-15? Something like that? Their brain got super fucked up, man. No way they’re just fine now. I know I missed a lot of things and made some other choices, so I’m excited to see how else things can go. I’ve already learned something today on my…technically 3rd play thru of at least act 1 oops lol

thanks! it started out a little rough, with waking up early and then my brain being an asshole, but then things improved and, like, the universe gave me a bunch of birthday gifts?

I got some very nice birthday messages on Twitter (and some of the Facebook ones actually had some thought behind them, as opposed to the ones that clearly mean "I haven't thought about you since this time last year when Facebook told me to say happy birthday, and now Facebook is telling me to say happy birthday again, so I'm saying it")

I just happened to be on Instagram at the exact right time to snag a 50% one-time-use discount code that I used on a couple really nice Sylvie and Wanda pins

I got a $10 coupon code for Popshop Live and another seller with a cool Sylvie pin was having a sale today plus free shipping so I got that pin for free

I might have also bought myself a few more gifts on there and other little shops, shhh

I had my free birthday Starbucks drink and a mostly free lunch because of the current McDonald's promotion

I successfully found some Christmas gifts for my sister, which isn't all that fun or exciting but it is a relief

I came home to some fun mail

and Hazy, my sweet adorable neurotic bratty gremlin baby, light of my life but also sometimes the actual worst, gave me a major gift: I ended up being gone for over two and a half hours, my longest absence yet by at least 20 minutes, and she was completely calm every time I checked on her. she even spent a lot of it curled up sleeping, as far as I could tell, when normally she at least stays awake and watches the door. I don't want to assume anything from that, but it's great no matter what, especially since last Saturday we had what seemed like a bad regression where she wouldn't calm down enough to let me leave at all, for the first time in ages, and I was worried we might've lost months of progress for no obvious reason. apparently we have not! (she was somewhat fussy on the next short absence I attempted after last Saturday, but she did calm down that time and she's been fine every time since, culminating in today, so I really have no idea what the problem was earlier.)

so yeah, all in all it turned out pretty good!

Ooh can you describe Connor’s tell, smile, and posture?

What their “tell” is for lying: Connor is an awful, awful liar. He usually avoids directly lying as much as he possibly can, but in the rare case that he does, it’s painfully obvious. He’ll avoid eye contact and stand strangely far away while he speaks, most often looking up and over his shoulder as if he’s trying to find someone else to talk to. He’ll run his hand through his hair a whole bunch, and when he’s extra nervous he’ll touch his lips a lot. He stands stiffer than usual when he lies as well. He’s pretty okay at lying through omission, though, but he’ll still look tenser than usual when there’s something he’s not saying. 

How they smile: He’s got a really cute, dopey, crooked smile when he’s pleased. He smiles with his eyes a lot, and they get very crinkly. He very quickly cracks into a grin though, and when he’s at that point, it’s all cheesy, full teeth, dimples, the whole shebang. When he’s grinning, his eyes are almost entirely closed — he actually has to put effort into keeping them open. He has a very endearing, honest smile, and it’s really a shame that very few people get to see it. Once Connor regains decent control of his emotions he becomes pretty quiet and somber most of the time, usually just giving others a sort of half-smile that falls back to neutral in seconds. 

Posture: Tall. Connor is a tall boi, coming in around 6’5”, and he knows how to use his height to get the full “imposing leader” effect. He stands very straight, with proper posture and shoulders back — something that he doesn’t even think about after being a templar all those years. Even when he’s tired, he doesn’t slump much, especially not in public, since he generally sees poor posture as a sign of weakness that he can’t afford. He stands with his weight evenly distributed, feet a little further than shoulder-width apart, hips and chest set squarely facing whatever or whoever has his attention. (He does slouch a little around Dorian though, gotta give the bf easy access to kisses)

For champions of the just, you see the damage a possessed/evil inquisitor could do. But what does a companion Etienne see? Is it very different?

Lord-Protector Étienne sees the danger that would come with a demon possessing the best assassin Thedas has to offer.

Let’s be real here: Étienne Faulkes wasn’t chosen to assassinate Divine Justinia without reason. He’s the best of the best, a twelve year veteran of a job that most don’t last more than a few years in. The only person even comparable to Étienne’s track record is Zevran, who held the best streak until he failed to kill Jon Cousland.

An Envy Demon wearing Étienne’s face would be able to slit the throats of every Inquisition member in one night. Cassandra, Leliana, Josephine, hell even Cullen would be gone in a heartbeat. An Envy Demon Étienne could destroy everything in a matter of seconds

But worst for Étienne is the sight of Ser Richard, his own father, his real father, dead by his hand. The demon whispers that he’s to old, to inept, too unsightly to wear. But Etienne is the perfect vessel: young and strong and handsome. His words and ways could fell a thousand empires when a demon wears his face. A tearful presentation of the letter from “Ser Richard” detailing his “suicide” and his nomination for “Étienne” to take his place.

Before anyone realized who this “Étienne” really was, it would be too late.

Without Ser Richard, the world would never be safe. The breach would consume everything, and the demon possessing Étienne would rule over the ruins. Everyone Étienne cares for and loves dead because Étienne wasn’t strong enough to prevent it.

Champions of the Just makes Étienne realize he needs to be strong enough to prevent it. Nothing else matters until the breach is closed. And if being strong enough means dying by his own hand to prevent a demon from wearing his skin, then so be it.

He very well would’ve followed down that path had Cole not intervened.
