'I'll wake you up when I'm done.' His tone suggested a sense of familiarity, like she had heard those words coming from his mouth before. Or maybe it was that she felt like she could just completely melt into a slumber and he'd be there, shaking her awake or carrying her to bed—okay, that was clearly just part of the fantasy building inside of her head. And before she knew it—click. The sound of what was probably the lock undoing and the knob recoiling back to its original state snapped her awake instantly. "Huh?" she emitted softly before whipping her head around and then back, and–

'Oh.' No big deal for Safiye. She had seen half-naked men a million and one times, and a good amount of fully naked ones, in her life. This was nothing special, well, except that she was forcing herself to maintain eye contact with James instead of studying every visible feature of his body. She couldn't look like a dog. No, no—eyes up there. She had a crush, yeah, but that...was all. "Yeah, okay. Right, my turn." She stood up to and stretched for a moment, looking away for just a moment as she waited for James to continue on with his business of getting proper and decent.

But then...he let go of the towel. And with it, her eyes sank, too. "Oh my God." It had been uttered completely involuntarily in a single collapsed breath. Surely, her cheeks had immediately grown redder than the berries that decorated the dessert they just shared. Flustered, her entire body immediately returned to where she was facing the window of unrelenting weather. Of course, she could still see him reflected in the glass. "I–I'm sorry? I, um, yeah, maybe this room is a little small." But other things in the small room weren't so. Her hand pressed over her mouth as she tried to gather herself and her thoughts enough to figure out what the next best thing to say, or do, was. "I thought we'd established this wasn't even a first date yet," she taunted with an inaudible laugh, still facing her back toward him, "I didn't take you for someone who was so forward, James Bennett."

She certainly wasn't going to allow any room for his mistake to happen to her.

Due to her sass, James decided to match it with his own, raising an eyebrow and crossing his arms as she spoke. "Well, it certainly seemed you put in a lot of effort so forgive me for thinking otherwise," he teased. Yet again, that small voice of doubt entered his mind and he wondered if that was okay to say.

"Get some shut-eye, I'll wake you up when I'm done," he said, entering the bathroom. The shower was a welcome moment to recollect his thoughts and calm his nerves. This was really how the night was going to go. He would have preferred to have been infiltrating a compound in a war zone.

He stepped out of the shower and began to dry himself with a towel as thoughts continued to run through his mind. It was only when he felt sufficiently dry that he realized his mistake: he didn't bring a bathrobe in with him. Kicking himself mentally, he wrapped the towel around his waist and hoped that Safiye was asleep so he could get the bathrobe on.

But as soon as he stepped out, he felt eyes on him.

"Uhh..." He stood there like a deer in headlights before managing to actually say something. "It's, uh, your turn." He gave a nervous chuckle as he reached for the cabinet. "Sorry, I forgot the bathrobe was in here."

And that was when he made the ultimate mistake. The wisdom passed on through generations was a simple yet profound one: you always—always—hold the towel with one hand.

But instead, James reached. And sure enough, down went the towel, leaving James standing there bare.

PLOT DROP: THE NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY

Invited to the glorious and yearly NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY, the whole city of Westray comes together to celebrate the New Year with fun, Avery hosted and sponsored celebrations at the marketplace, starting at 06:00PM, on DECEMBER 31ST, 2024.

But, not everything is as it seems.

Many have heard it, but no one has seen it: Rumor about a strange voice coming from the mines has grown loud, louder, LOUDER. While Supernatural Hunters (the serious and the fun kinds) may have believed it to be true, many humans in the city have deemed it a prank performed by the youth, lingering in the mines with bluetooth boxes, and the godly, awful internet. Proving them wrong, at midnight, is no one but ELIAS AVERY (Cillian Murphy) -- THE MAYOR THAT WENT MISSING ON OCTOBER 31RD, 1975. A ghost, emerging from it's shell -- the mines, the mines he claims to have been locked in for 49 years. But that cannot be. Must he not be a 100 year old man, if he had truly been locked for that many decades? And why would he reappear now, in shredded clothes, torn apart? There's many questions, and little answers, before police takes him away for an investigation, performed by no one else but Matiu Kauri. ( @matiukauri ). And was he truly the cause of what's down in the mines?

DRESSCODE, SETTING, SURROUNDINGS

The Dresscode for the Sylvester Event is Black Tie, as the event also functions as a Charity Gala. Food, drinks and decorations are entirely provided by the Avery family, who generously aim to collect money for good causes. Decoration accents are colored dark blue, dark green, and dark red, and to safe the public from freezing, a large, warmed up tent has been erected on the marketplace, keeping everyone save, and coddled.

OOC NOTES:

ALL characters that received a piece of firework, can be present during the moment Elias hits the crowd, bloody and confused. Characters that DIDN'T, must be absent, but can bump back into the crowd only minutes later. Attending this event is mandatory for (and voluntary for everyone else):

All hunters, no matter if Avery or Hawthorne; all police related muses (Matiu Kauri and Noah Williams), and first responders (Eric Sherwood and Caspian Vaughn).

While your Characters can believe that Elias is the original Elias, the police will cover up his appearance for the sake of the supernaturals, and claim him to be a recently abducted member of the Avery family, that had originally lived abroad. This will be believed by general public, after the police releases a claim about Elias suffering through a panic related delir.

the randolph name, it was a name that people have known very well since the 1800s.   they were old money, and as years have gone by, every new generation brought in new money to pile on top.   but with each generation came with their own troubles, scandal, you name it.   and it was no different when it came to jupiter james randolph.

jupiter randolph was born in new york, to one charles james randolph and isabel flores.   all he had known were the richest that came from the randolph family, his hometown of the manhattan island, more specifically the riches that his father had gotten on his own.

his father was one of the richest men in country. a white man with power, had a name that was prestigious to begin with, it was tale as old as time. and here was jupiter–– the brown kid who stuck out like a sore thumb. even next to his older brother, who was the epitome of the perfect randolph son, jupiter could not compare, even if he tried.

but at least he had his mother. even if the men in his life were too ambitious for their own good, his mother was always there for him, guiding him, teaching him photography, recommending books they could read and have discussions about them. if only jupiter had known he would only have thirteen precious years with her.

a terrible plane crash had ended the life of mrs. isabel flores. the family felt a devastating blow. and jupiter ended up realizing something that day.   he would forever feel lonely in his own home, with his own family now that his mother was no longer in the picture.   

while his father focused on his company and whatever woman of the month he was seeing, his own brother focused on high school then college, jupiter ended up turning to his books and movies that his mother and him both enjoyed. but at what point would he be able to take the loneliness. in jupiter's grief, his mental health only sank the more time he spent on his own. it started with the heaviness of his chest and feeling like he couldn't breathe. anxiety attacks were frequent, nothing a pill could fix, right? the attacks only got worse, and the only way he felt like he could deal with it was to gain back control somehow. so his appetite took a hit. he started to eat less and less, to the point where he at times didn't eat at all.

the moment his father found out, the story of his thirteen year old son leaving the state to attend some boarding school was widely known, but the story of why was not. a breath of fresh air, some intense therapy, and taking in all the emotions he was holding in was slowly starting to heal jupiter. but still he put on a fake smile most of the time so that people would think he was okay.

it had taken years for jupiter to keep himself in check. and boarding school was fine, but he never touched the island during summers, always spending it in manhattan with his grandmother. but he missed his life in new york. even when he told his own father he wanted to move back, wanting to finish high school with his friends, and be a normal teenager. so at sixteen he had returned and things for jupiter were only looking up.

jupiter had changed though, snarky comments and sometimes even being a little critical and combative. of course, it was only the wall that he built up, struggling to want to have anyone get close to him, other than the few trusted friends he had. but the new jupiter knew that if he showed his most authentic self, to be vulnerable–– he could get hurt again, and he wasn't sure that his mental health would be able to take it.

so he went on to be this persona he created, one the media knew very well, the perfectionist that ended up being snarky at times. he was like that through the rest of high school and college. and now he was living in brooklyn where he wasn't always in the spotlight. and he was certain that as long as new york found some new it person and obsessed with them, he could breathe easing knowing he was slowly being forgotten.

oh brother–– my half brother - jupiter’s older brother, he’s in his late twenties/early thirties. can be working in their father's company or doing something else to make a name for himself. because of their age gap, jupiter feels distant from him, even when this is the only sibling he has. he does feel like he has a bit of a grudge on him because after jupiter's mother died and his brother went off to college they barely have spoken.

the only boy i ever loved but a friendship it will stay - someone jupiter possibly grew up with in new york or met when he spent summers in brooklyn. they are someone who jupiter feels comfortable around.  this is the only person he has ever had feelings for growing up. he's afraid if he ever told him how he felt the relationship would end. at the end of the day they are just best friends.​

they were the best friend that became each others found family - they had known each other for so long that jupiter considers them like a brother/sister. this is the person that knows all his secrets, and vice versa. if anything would ever happen to the other, you'd end up finding the other half of the pair right there with them.

frenemies to friends to maybe more - someone who constantly teases on jupiter, for no reason.  constant flirting and making poor jupiter uncomfortable since he is still figuring out his sexuality as a demisexual. eventually jupiter realizes the other person is more than what he perceives himself to be. and somehow that intrigues jupiter.

the randolph name, it was a name that people have known very well since the 1800s.   they were old money, and as years have gone by, every new generation brought in new money to pile on top of it.   but with each generation came with their own troubles, scandal, you name it.  but for jupiter randolph, he wanted to change that for himself.

jupiter randolph was born in new york, to one charles randolph and elizabeth woods. he was born thirteen minutes before his twin brother ––––.   growing up, all they had known was the richest that came from being in the randolph family, but he would also realize the loneliness that came with that name.

it wasn't news when jupiter's parents divorced when they were five. many years of arguments had dealt with the end of a marriage, and that meant him and his twin were constantly shipped back and forth from each parent. but when the twins were eight, their mom ended up moving to colorado to take a job as a professor at the university of denver, and the boys were stuck living in new york with their father during most of the year, while summers were spent with their mom.

so for the next few years, jupiter grew up knowing the randolph way.  his father constantly bringing home a new step-mother that jupiter always avoided, and his twin and him were slowly distancing.   so that's what he felt–– loneliness.   jupiter knew it too well, even at a young age.  and he thought it was just him having some independence, but really it was him and his books to keep him occupied from the loneliness he was feeling.

when the twins started boarding school, that's when it got really bad for jupiter. independence turned to isolation, and he knew he was very different from his own brother, and he started to compare himself to him, to all the other guys and he felt out of place. jupiter was an intelligent person.  but he always felt the need to dumb himself down for everyone. nobody likes the know-it-all, the nerd.  at least that’s what he overheard his brother say once when he was a kid.   and as much as he kept himself informed, learning new things, the more he was in the spotlight because of his name, he felt like he was constantly losing himself. 

one day, out of nowhere, he felt like he couldn't breath, like someone was crushing his chest. his first anxiety attack, and it wasn't the last. anxiety starting to cripple in his life, and the only thing that he felt like helped with it was food–– and not eating it. his twin had noticed jupiter drastic change in his appetite, and the lack of a social life. and when he realized what he was doing, he confronted him. but not eating was all for control, so that he didn't feel the anxiety that he did.

his brother was very concerned the moment jupiter had passed out from not eating, and he had told his parents that jupiter was not eating much, so their parents decided it would be best for jupiter to live with his mom in colorado, thinking that a change of scenery would end up being good for him. and to jupiter's surprise, it really was.

jupiter ended up focusing on school, focusing on things that he loved the most and that was books and writing. he was sixteen when he wrote his first novel, but never thought of publishing it seeing as he was very insecure about his writing and also very young. but he kept writing short stories here and there, and when he was in college, he knew that literature was something he wanted to do.

he made the dream happened. he had finally got his first published book, and it had reached number one of new york time best seller. it was amazing, and he had social media to thank, because he decided to read a few experts, even had a video that blew up and put him on the map. now he's back in colorado after finishing a book tour, thinking of what he wanted to write next. he just hopes it will be as good as the first.

this summer he had his book tour, which was received so well thanks to his growing following on his social media platforms.

has now returned back to colorado after what he felt like a long summer away, and is ready to start writing his new book.

he's trying to find different inspirations, feeling stuck on what to write. writer's block is very real on him.

        CONNECTIONS

oh brother, my brother - jupiter’s twin brother, –––– randolph. they are very much opposites of each other. while he was the quiet, always stuck to his writing in his notebook type brenton was the loud, vivacious one, the sporty and class president type.

are you just an older version of me? - can someone who is like ten years older than you be your best friend, well for jupiter and this person, their friendship really worked. they are like an older sibling to them, jupiter is always in bright spirits when they see each other.

the longest friendship that i can remember - someone jupiter grew up with in denver that he feels comfortable around.  maybe their parents worked together at the university. or they became instant friends when jupiter arrived. they are close friends, practically family, someone that just gets what they go through ( can be male or female ).​

just the librarian with things to say about my book - this is someone that works at the library who happens to have a thing to say about his book. could be good or bad, up to player really. of course, jupiter takes it to heart, but he always appreciates to hear honest opinions of people that read his book. but if it's negative or more critique, maybe the librarian is jealous cause they themselves have been trying to get their own book published with no luck.

frenemies to friends to maybe more - someone who constantly teases on jupiter, for no reason.  maybe because it’s jealousy, or maybe they secretly likes jupiter, who knows. but as they become friends, its clear that jupiter likes this person a little more than he realizes.
