Eric Staal can kick rocks for all I fucking care
buuut the majority of players are also conservative and probably feel the same wayyyyyy you whine in your little bitchy bitch voice...
ok, so what if they are? Yes the bar is basically below hell but at the very bottom of the barrel least, those other conservative players don't go out of their way to publicly air those views out and especially not on fucking pride night.
bye Eric, hockey is better without you

dude im cryinggg. my love for jeff skinner will never stop and the fact that (i’m guessing it was his idea) he hung photos of the staals up in the backdrop kills me! he’s honest to god the funniest person while simultaneously making me cry over him and eric.

How convenient to be like "Yeah due to my faith I cannot support LGBTQ+ people. It's in the Bible, sorry!"
There's lots of stuff in the Bible.
There are literally Bible verses that instruct people how to treat their slaves, and Bible verses which tell slaves that they must obey and love their masters.
It's entirely possible to argue for racism and slavery using Bible verses.
It's entirely possible to argue for misogynistic laws using Bible verses.
It's entirely possible to be for ethic cleansings, torture, crowd lynchings AND SO ON citing 'faith' and 'moral objections' and 'conscience'.
One could argue for ANYTHING using Bible verses.
Literlly the only reason people aren't like:
"Yes he's a cannibal but he uses Bible verses to back it up... So kudos to him for following his religious beliefs!"
is that some religious arguments are more popular than others.
Mainly because some groups of people have lacked defenders, and people pass on their prejudice. We all know that LGBTQI+ people have long been one of those groups which nobody just really cared to defend.
If someone wanted to argue, using Bible verses, that we should kill disobient children? People would say they're a monster.
But if someone argues, using Bible verses, that we should ostracize queer people? People are like 'Oh good job on following your religious conscience'!
So let's not forget that age old prejudice helps back up these arguments of 'my faith demands me to'.
I'd say that many religious people are quite happy ignore the fact that these 'homophobic due to my faith' believers aren't actually following lots of scripture.
They cite the Bible whenever it's convenient for them, and ignore when it's not. It's called 'the Good Book' only because cherry-picking and some apologist mental gymnastics make it a (somewhat) 'Good Book'.
And don't get me wrong, I am not arguing that we bring back the insanity that Bronze-Age era was - I'm very glad people are ignoring lots of scripture.
(Personally, I don't see sense in believing in ANY of it, because I've found no evidence that supports the idea that it's anything else than a super violent, factually incorrect and self-contradictory man-made book written by a bunch of very imaginative Bronze-Age people.)
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is...
Why are we still letting people get away with this 'the Bible demands me to' shit?
Especially when the same people who pretend that they MUST be homophobic and transphobic because of some Bible verses... Clearly follow almost no rules from the books they pretend to follow so 'religiously'.
It's nothing but hypocrisy. (Which btw, is another popular topic in the 'Holy Book').
