Listen “still beautiful, still dean winchester” has such a deeper meaning than a lot of people think. Yea it’s cas looking at dean and seeing him for who he is and finding that person beautiful but it’s also that cas literally put him back together piece by piece and looked into his beautiful soul and has continued to look at his soul, seeing it darkened with the mark and all the shit he’s been through and still seeing that beautiful soul he saw 12 years earlier in Hell

5x01. Two minutes in and already the words "we need to find Cas" are coming out of Dean's mouth

do you realize how insane that is????

the man was just magically teleported to an airplane (the thing that he's fucking terrified of), when seconds before he was about to see Lucifer walk the earth. He's 100% the apocalypse just started. And the first thing he does (after they land and find a car and get going) is turn to his brother and tell him,

idk how tf we got out of that... But "we need to find Cas"

We talk a lot about Purgatory "where's the angel" but I don't think we recognize enough just how much Dean's instinct to find Cas has always been there.

Literally in the next scene they go to Chuck's and THE FIRST THING Dean asks him is,

"Where's Cas?"

💀 jfc show your crush a little more would ya, Dean?

and Chuck, bastard that he is, tells him "He's dead", and immediately afterwards he apologizes to Dean, specifically.

which– in retrospective is fucking hilarious, actually, bc this was yet another moment that Chuck wanted to kill Cas off once and for all, but even then some part of him recognized that killing Cas was a shitty thing to do to Dean.

It's also so funny that he says "I'm sorry" and with the knowledge that we had by s5 it's supposed to be interpreted as sympathy, but in retrospective it can also be read as a literal apology, like, "sorry I killed your angel boyfriend, my bad".

But also, imagine it from Chuck's perspective. Like... The dude just saved his favorite toys from being killed by his resentful child, the devil himself, and when they get to him, he drops some lore (about Sam being 200 degrees, black eyes) on them. But STILL, Dean doesn't care about Chuck's stupid ass story, he only asks about the gay angel 💀 iconic
