Behind the Scenes of The Giggle - Part Nine
Excerpt from Doctor Who Magazine #589 - Paul Kirkley's interview with the directors of the three 60th Anniversary specials:
DWM: Tell us about working with David and Catherine. It seems they came back to Doctor Who for the sheer love of it. Was that obvious on set? Chanya Button [director of The Giggle]: Very much so. They have a great chemistry, and a great loyalty to each other, which was apparent from the first moment of meeting them. They both have such love and respect for the show, and its legacy, and how important it is to people. David's thinking about the audience all the time, in everything he does. And working with Catherine... she really connects with the history and the backstory of her character. I was so impressed by her recall of the emotional beats that the Doctor and Donna had from their first run together. Both of them have such command of their characters - the ability to live in them, and instinctively know what's right for them. They were working hard, but it never looked like an effort.

Hnnngh. Something I find a bit interesting about Grimmjow aesthetically during the Thousand Year Blood War arc (manga and anime) is the change of his clothes. Not only do I personally like the new design but the new clothes seem to suit Grimmjow pretty well. I can appreciate the detail of Grimmjow's sword Pantera still being kept on the same [left] side as he seems to be right-handed. He even kept his signature jacket (how many of these does he have left when they keep getting ripped up???) but, sans weapon and jacket, the rest of his clothing is different. HOW, WHEN and WHY though?!

Context of Destruction's return:
Grimmjow returns in the TYBW arc by fighting a quincy that was picking on Urahara and friends in Hueco Mundo. From this all we see is the edge of his sword. Next Grimmjow tries to waltz into Urahara's tent when he heard Ichigo talking via projector, and there we saw the edge of Grimmjow's old hakama uniform:

After this first visual reappearance we get another event: a location transition to some ruins in Hueco Mundo that could include Grimmjow with hints about his location and attire, especially from the anime which shows Grimmjow definitively:

From the anime, we get a decent visual clue about Grimmjow here - after Orihime and Chad's group have arrived at the ruins. As Orihime and Chad talk, there is a figure lurking behind them wearing a cloak who has a sharp, masculine jaw and if you look very closely you can see Grimmjow's unique fancy new shoes in the shadows. So Grimmjow's clothes have changed since arriving at the ruins.

In the manga however, Chad finds Orihime at the ruins with two or three figures behind him that are hard to recognize: If the figure on the left is Grimmjow, then Grimmjow is probably still wearing his hakama uniform upon arrival to the ruins. We don't get very definitive clues about Grimmjow from the manga here.
Based on these two perspectives though, considering them together - since the manga seems to be the group's early arrival at the ruins and the anime seems to be a little while after arrival at the ruins, it's a safe bet that Grimmjow changed his outfit once the group arrived at these ruins in Hueco Mundo.

WHERE are Grimmjow's cool new duds from?
Well, since it doesn't seem like Grimmjow is using a power to have a different appearance, it's reasonable to assume that Urahara provided everyone special new clothing since we find out later that he definitely did this for Orihime from a hilarious discussion about her new clothes (manga - 589). Urahara has proven that he is intuitive enough to design suitable and physically fitting clothes with mysterious properties for people. In terms of Grimmjow's clothing, this seems to be the most solid theory. And I wouldn't say the clothing is a 'free gift' since everyone in Urahara's group that changed clothes also helped fight in the war, gearing soldiers with armor and weapons is a thing. Urahara is a tactical guy and he puts a premium on arrancars' value in the war (manga - 552; anime TYBW part 2 - episode 3) since quincies don't steal their resureccións.
For another theory's sake, Grimmjow's clothes could also be from what's left of stuff in Las Noches, the palace in Hueco Mundo. A theory that Grimmjow could have raided Las Noches and maybe even a quincy camp then made a stash somewhere, and maybe he did, is kinda fun but feels less likely to explain his new TYBW duds.

Grimmjow, my dude, WHY the new look?
I'll start this with a big ol': we can only speculate unless Kubo tells us in Klub Outside or something. Why Grimmjow's clothes are different in the TYBW arc feels like the hardest thing to theorize over.
Though Grimmjow fought a quincy right away when he returned to Bleach, his old hakama uniform didn't look shredded when he tried barging into Urahra's tent (manga - 518; anime TYBW part 1 episode 8 - above). So why would Grimmjow replace his clothing? It's probably not because of that first quincy fight regardless. In the past a different Espada, Szayel, actually left his opponents to change his clothes (manga - 276; anime - 164) so arrancars have the capacity to be vain. However, Grimmjow usually fights until he's wearing tatters of his uniform. He has never seemed like a particularly vain guy nor sentimental, but he does seem cunning, practical and intentional among other primal, brutal and abrupt qualities. He loves a strong opponent in a fight, is difficult to control, does seem to hold grudges and dislikes pity. As long as Grimmjow didn't feel too tethered or pitied he might accept things and deals that Urahara could have offered...if those were beneficial to Grimmjow getting what he wants.

If it fits, I... Grimmjow's New Outfit Design:
The duds fit the dude! Wherever Grimmjow's clothing came from it looks practical in make and style. IT'S KINDA LIKE A ONESIE...BUT HE WOULD MAIM US FOR SAYING THAT even though he looks killer in it...so we'll just call it a 'bodysuit' instead because it's hard to see if it's two pieces... Heh heh. He wears his signature jacket from his old uniform over his new bodysuit. The lower part of the bodysuit even has pockets for him to stuff his hands in, as seems his habit. The white belts are a cool touch and Pantera is still hitched to his left hip seeming to give the belts purpose. His shoes...god. If a man is going to wear heels those are it. The shoes are the flashiest part of Grimmjow's outfit. One could argue that the jagged guard around the toes and the one at his heel could help protect his feet.
Overall Grimmjow's new outfit is pretty streamlined, not a lot of flappy snag hazards, but it has several sharp/pointy accents. The new design feels like a reflection of his agile but vicious demeanor with some hollow flare. His new outfit is curiously the same color scheme as his old Espada hakama uniform...but why? Well, Grimmjow probably isn't wearing it to be sentimental since he previously made defying Aizen a habit and attacked arrancar on his own side multiple times. Yet, the colors are the same and we still don't actually know why!
A fun little theory about why Grimmjow kept his old uniform and accepts the same color scheme for his new clothing could be that since quincies are trying to take Hueco Mundo away from hollows and arrancar, Grimmjow might feel like wearing these are a sign of defiance. He is said to be a little territorial and absolutely defiant. This is just a theory though.

Driven by SCARS. Details of the Design:
In the deep v-neck of Grimmjow's bodysuit we can still see two significant scars on his torso. One is the scar that Ichigo's Getsuga Tensho attack gave Grimmjow (manga - 211; anime - 121) and above it is a second scar which Nnoitora's Santa Teresa inflicted on Grimmjow (manga - 286; anime - 190). Grimmjow overtly states in his third fight with Ichigo (manga - 279 - above; anime - 165) that he has purposefully kept the scar from Ichigo. The scar from Ichigo is clearly a bit special ('a reminder' in some translations) and the second scar from Nnoitora happened right after Grimmjow and Ichigo's grand third fight. Maybe Grimmjow feels similarly about both? This is probably as close to sentimental as canon Grimmjow will ever get. Those scars seem important though. Grimmjow displays his scars instead of hiding them...and if he wanted to hide them he certainly could have, but he hasn't. Pretty badass to do that intentionally.

Does Grimmjow like his new clothes? Enough to wear them. lol Otherwise who knows. He seems much more interested in picking his next fight and doing other...Grimmjow things...you know, like being a bit of a loner and devastatingly handsome!

Notes: I knew there was no way I could stick to just one drabble an episode for the CS movie, so I didn't even try. There will be 2 drabbles for 3x21 and 4 for 3x22. They are all written, so the plan is to post one per day until they're all posted.
They walked in silence for several moments, Killian shaking his smarting hand.   He hadn’t taken into account how blasted solid his former self’s jaw was when he decided to wallop him.
“I wasn’t going to let it go anywhere, you know,” Emma said, giving him a tentative side glance.
“Pardon, love?” Killilan asked, brows furrowed.
“You know, that whole make out session with him…or…you…or…whatever,” she said. “I know he was expecting a tumble in the sheets–”
He grinned wickedly before waggling his brows in an exaggerated manner.  “With a lass as tantalizing as you, I rather doubt we’d make it to the sheets.  I’d probably take you right there against the ladder.”
He saw a delightful shade of pink spread across her cheeks and felt more than a little satisfaction that he’d managed to affect her even a fraction as much as she affected him.
“But,”  she said, apparently deciding the best course of action was to pretend he’d never interrupted “I had no intention of letting it go that far, no matter how well he kisses.  A few seconds longer, and I’d have decked him so we could get the hell out of here.  I can take care of myself, you know.”
“Oh I know,” he said, smiling. “You’re a fearsome lass, and you’d leave many a pirate quaking in his boots.”
She smiled back at him, and he was sure he’d be willing to do anything to keep that delightful smile on her face.
“Anyway, if you were, I don’t know, jealous of him…yourself…whatever,” she said, “I just wanted to let you know.”
He smiled wistfully.  “He was a bloody git,” he said, his voice disgusted.  “He deserved far worse than that.”
She was silent for a second, and he could tell that she understood him, that she knew he was talking about far more than Captain Hook trying to get into the skirts of a fetching woman.
“Killian,” she said gently, as they slowly walked toward Midas’s castle, “I know you did bad things in the past, but who of us hasn’t?”
“Far be it from me to disagree with you, love,” Killian said bitterly, “but your transgressions couldn’t have been anything compared to mine.  That man lying unconscious on the Jolly… There’s no way to expunge the dark deeds he’s done.”
“Bullshit,” Emma said, and his brows rose at her emphatic tone as well as her profanity. “Killian, that man is you.  You may have lost your way, but you’re a good man. You’ve always been a good man at your core.  I could have defended myself if I’d needed to, but I knew I didn’t.  Even at the height of your bad guy days and drunk out of your mind, I know you would never have hurt me.”
For a moment, this simple statement of faith rendered him speechless, and when he spoke, his voice was not quite steady.  “You trust me that much? Truly?”
Her smile was just a little bit tender.  “Of course,” she said simply.
The moment was charged, the tension crackling between them. Emma swayed toward Killilan, and he mirrored her action, his eyelids started to flutter as their lips moved closer…closer.
Suddenly there was a scurry of motion and a rabbit darted past, a fox close on its furry heels (Incidentally, do rabbits have heels?) and the mood was broken.  Emma took a step back, her cheeks pinkening once again.
After a moment Killian grinned, raising an eyebrow.  “Might we return to the topic of how well I kiss?”

Aaron Hotchner has stared death in the eye more times than any person should. He has never been more scared than he is in this moment. He wills the car to drive faster, he wills time to slow around him, he wills for you to be okay.
He feels the car lurch as he puts it in park before it has even stopped. He rushes out, running up the driveway of your perfect house.
“Aaron! I found the best house, you’ll love it. When does your flight land?” He can hear you wander through the hotel room. 
“I think ten thirty,” he answers. 
“Oh, great! I also found this little sandwich shop. God, it’s incredible.” He listens to you gush about the city and how excited you are before you circle back to the house, telling him about the way the light comes in through the window into the kitchen and the laundry room that leads right out to the backyard-already fenced in-where your kids will play. He makes up his mind that that is the house you are getting, no matter what.
He hears the gunshot before he can open the door. His heart stops. “No,” he whispers. This can’t be happening, he couldn’t have heard a gunshot because you and Jack were not shot. You and Jack are safe, and you and Jack are going to laugh at him when he comes in in a panic because he has nothing to worry about. You’re fine. You’re fine.
You’re fine.
You stand in the kitchen, covered in blood. “Aaron,” you breathe before breaking into sobs. “Aaron, I-I didn’t want-I didn’t know-I was-I-” you choke.
He tosses his gun aside, running over to you. He barely registers the body on the floor. “You’re okay,” he says, assuring himself just as much as you. “You’re okay. Give me the gun.” He takes it out of your hands, setting it on the counter. “Are you hurt?”
“I don’t think so.”
“Is Jack still upstairs?”
You nod.
“Okay,” is all he can say. What else can he say? There’s no rulebook for what to do when your spouse has to kill a man who’s made it his life mission to kill you and the people you love. He’s not sure how long he stands with you before the team shows up. It could’ve been an hour. It could’ve been a minute.
He watches as they pull you into an ambulance. He watches as JJ takes Jack. he watches as the corner drags Foyet’s body out of the house. 
As soon as he steps out of the house, the team is surrounding him. They start asking questions, or maybe they’re telling him something. He’s not sure. He almost lost everyone he’s ever loved, everyone he’s ever been loved by all because he had an overinflated sense of justice. If had an ounce of selfishness in him, you wouldn’t have had to go through any of this.
He pushes his way passed all of them, going over to Jack. He picks the boy up, holding him tightly to his chest as Jack asks where you are. With a sigh, Aaron says that you’re at the hospital and that you’ll be home soon. 
He doesn’t tell him that he doesn’t know how soon is soon or that he doesn’t know where home is or that he doesn’t when you’ll ever recover. None of that’s important right now. You both are, at the very least, physically safe. You can work through the rest of it later, together.

can you please tell me the source of itachi putting sasuke into the tsukuyomi and making him witness the massacre 500k+ times? bc the anime doesn't specify it and i haven't read manga yet. i looked up at the naruto databooks too but couldn't find any information about this there. itachi shinden novels don't talk about it either. are there any other sources? i mean is this even true or itachi haters making up things to hate on him even more?

I believe this moment comes from... chapter 148 of the manga! This is the period where Itachi first appeared (so episode 81-84 ish of the original anime.)
After Itachi squarely beats Sasuke, Itachi puts him under Tsukuyomi for 24 real time hours (which is a lot more in tsukuyomi time, poor thing.)

So, basically, yes, they're correct in that Itachi made Sasuke relive the death of his parents inside Tsukuyomi. Not sure on the 500,000 times, as you'd have to dig up Tsukuyomi time vs real time and also how long it would take Sasuke to view the deaths "one time" to add up to 24 real world hours. I do surmise it's probably a lot.
Not sure why anti Itachi peeps are using this though, Itachi did... a lot? Like this is a drop in the bucket compared to what Itachi has done to him before. It's not excusable, no, but it's all things Itachi did to ensure that Sasuke hated him and would never forgive him.
Itachi haters always forget one thing: It was Obito who spoiled the truth to Sasuke in such a way that Sasuke pitied him and felt Itachi was the victim.
Itachi did not want Sasuke to forgive him, feel pity for him, or think he was the victim. That's why he did things that are completely inexcusable, and he was well aware they were.
He calls himself out in chapters 589 ish, also adding that he was willing to use hypnosis on Sasuke. Itachi himself is aware he's not a saint. ]]

From this Wip Game! Still taking asks.
Thank you Ghosti! I haven't written anything for this one in ages, but lately there's been a few thoughts that may be useful for it!
It consists of a set of moments of Maglor and Daeron meeting, through different historical eras - sometimes on different sides of different conflicts, seas, rivers and streets, but inevitably drawn together.
The idea would be a compilation of five episodes, non-linearly. Tentatively, they're Suzhou in 589 AD, after the Great Canal was opened; the 1220 Siege of Samarkand and the mess afterwards; post Spanish Civil war Galicia (amazing forests, lots of seashore) or Madrid after the French invasions, I'm not sure; a Venice Carnival with murder and politics maybe; Lisbon in the aftershocks of the earthquake and tsunami of 1755; Alexandria after Cleopatra's defeat; a distant ecofuturistic setting in South (?) America, and a confrontation just after the sacking of Doriath, to end with.
Other possibilities include Elinor's Aquitaine, Iceland during the plague and post-independence Luanda.
In all honesty, this is an excuse to have Daeron go a little unhinged about humanity's impact on the world, and for Maglor to have many crisis about the prevalence of violence and solidarity both. Also lots of lutes.
Ideally these would be short scenes, though, and mostly it would be a fun historical research project, if I do choose to go through with it.
Here's a tiny snippet!
Maglor hasn’t killed anyone since Constantinople - he’d thrown his trusty old gladius into the Bosphorus at dawn, all very cathartic and vaguely, terribly mortifying. And, it turned out, very stupid.

The Doctor and Donna’s gigantic limbs are in-camera prosthetics. That’s the handiwork (sorry, couldn’t resist) of Millennium FX. “I’ve got two big old hands,” says David. “There’s a bar as you put your hand into the prosthetic and you move your fingers gently. They’re pretty uncomfortable and heavy. You have to get into a different costume to get them attached onto you. Doctor Who: RTD Makes Interesting Kate Lethbridge-Stewart Comment
Should we be reading into Doctor Who Showrunner Russell T. Davies's Instagram comment regarding Jemma Redgrave's Kate Lethbridge-Stewart?

When the BBC, Disney+ & Showrunner Russell T. Davies's David Tennant & Catherine Tate-starring Doctor Who's 60th-anniversary event hits in November, the global community will have a chance to celebrate the long-running sci-fi series. From there, we have a Christmas Special before the new year brings a new series with our Fifteenth Doctor Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson (companion Ruby Sunday) taking charge of the TARDIS. One major player who will be assisting both Doctors in their efforts to keep the world safe is Jemma Redgrave's Kate (Lethbridge-) Stewart. Following in her family's footsteps as the head of UNIT, Stewart was first introduced during Matt Smith's run (S07E04 "The Power of Three") – and is now taking on an epic, "summer action movie"-type role based on the recently-released 60th anniversary trailer. In fact, rumblings have been pretty steady that Davies is considering a "WHO-niverse" spinoff focused on Stewart & UNIT – which may explain why folks like us are reading into Davies's comment on a recent Doctor Who Instagram post spotlighting Redgrave's character.

After noting that "A new era of Kate Lethbridge-Stewart approaches…" as the caption to the post, Davies responded with, "What? Who told you that? How did you..? Oh damn it " (with three angry emojis). Now, could Davies be making a joke about it being a spoiler considering the news and visuals have been out there for a while? Sure. Doctor Who: Jemma Redgrave on Series 14, UNIT Spinoff Rumblings
Thanks to the folks over at Good Morning Britain, Redgrave was able to offer some insight into her involvement in the new series as well as those rumblings of a UNIT spinoff earlier this month. "I have been back in one episode in Series 14, and it was such a wonderful thing to be part of that family. I've never taken it for granted that I will be brought back, but it was absolutely tremendous, and to be part of Russell T. Davies' new vision is so exciting," Redgrave shared regarding her work on the new series. Unfortunately (at least, for now), Stewart and Gatwa's Fifteenth Doctor won't be sharing any screen time – but Stewart and Gibson's Ruby Sunday will. "I haven't yet got to work with Ncuti [Gatwa], I worked with Millie [Gibson]," she added. " As for that spinoff talk, Redgrave knows as much as the fans do – but she did get a personal perspective on the speculation. "I don't know anything about a spinoff," Redgrave responded – before also sharing, "Somebody in my book club did message me and say, 'I saw something about you having a series,' and I said, 'I've heard nothing about it and I shall call my agent.'"

Along with Jemma Redgrave (Kate Lethbridge-Stewart), Aneurin Barnard (Roger ap Gwilliam), and Jack Forsyth-Noble (Will), Doctor Who Magazine #589 also confirmed that Bhav Joshi (Wedding Season), Eilidh Loan (Traces), Pete MacHale (Gangs of London), Miles Yekinni (Slow Horses), and Hemi Yeroham (Mamma Mia!) have joined the cast for the new series. In addition, Jinkx Monsoon (RuPaul's Drag Race) was also confirmed to have joined the cast – followed by Jonathan Groff (Glee, Mindhunter) and Indira Varma (Obsession, Game of Thrones) – as The Duchess – in May 2023. Bonnie Langford was confirmed to be returning as Melanie Bush in June 2023, along with Lenny Rush (Am I Being Unreasonable) as Morris. In early August 2023, we also learned that Gemma Arrowsmith (Gemma Arrowsmith Sketched Out) and Mary Malone (Vera, The Prince) had joined the Christmas Special – while Majid Mehdizadeh-Valoujerdy (Hollyoaks) and Billy Brayshaw (Still So Awkward) had joined the Series 14 cast.
