Photographer @braddicksonimages from @nytimes came by to shoot elements of my home for a piece recently in the Real Estate section and I’ve gotten queries from the plant folks out there about the plants in frame. Peeking in from the left, near doorway it’s Sansevieria trifasciata. Up in doorway—left to right is my Trevesia palmata (which I broke off a new leaf yesterday watering), Philodendron erubescens that I took from cutting; Philodendron ‘Painted Lady’, and Epipremnum pinnatum, which is growing like whaaaaaa; then across the top— it’s a series of Epipremnum aureum and Scindapsus pictus and a hanging N’joy. The E. aureum have been growing there for about 7 years, though I’ve cut it back quite often. Down below is the unfailing Aspidistra elatior (Cast iron plant), which is an easy plant and can withstand less light and drafts (and Kippee doesn’t eat it like she did my Dieffenbachia!! 🐔🌿); and the big guy is a Dracaena, whom is far less leafy when I initially got him, but that’s to be expected bc he’s acclimatizing to the light conditions and doesn’t need as many leaves. Oh and the Frida pillow with the little chicken: you can pick up @fuego_718, whom is always so gracious and loves when I bring Kippee into the shop. (at Williamsburg, Brooklyn)

Got a question from @bi-atheist-witch 💞 So here is a list with my favourite non-succulents that require low maintenance but still grow fast and are absolutely beautiful.
POTHOS (Epipremnum Aureum)
from top left to right: n’joy, manjula, marble queen, neon
Pothos are perfect befinner plants, since they can adapt to most environments. The variegated variations prefer more light to keep its white parts, but they can survive in darker places as well. They are easy to propagate, so you can start of with a little cutting and end up with a bushy beautiful plants. They like some misting/showering occasionally, and likes to dry up between waterings.
PHILODENDRON
from left to right: Scindapsus pictus “silver”, philodendron scandens “heartleaf”
Philodendrons are beautiful and fast growing, perfect if you enjoy watching your babies thrive. They prefer similar light conditions as pothos, and will tell you when they are thirsty by curling their leaves. They don’t mind being a bit crowded, so don’t worry about re-potting too often.
MINI MONSTERA (Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma)
Tetrasperma can be grown both as a vine or climbing upwards. Easy to propagate in both water and soil, and easy to trim. It’s a fun plant to watch grow over time, and I’ve learned a lot from studying this. Also easily adapting to different light conditions, and likes misting. Can dry up between waterings.
Hope you find something you like! Good luck 💞
