Okay so I get that Suetonius is the most famous biographer when it comes to Julio-Claudian emperors (Thank Robert Graves for that), but he will never be as wild as Tacitus when it comes to narrating facts. I mean the man has the audacity to say he will be completely neutral to mantain historical accuracy and then proceeds to roast every single person he can name (with the exception ofc of his golden boy Germanicus, who never ever did anything wrong in his life).

Some of my favourite stellar moments are:

Why women are incapable of ruling without a) Sleeping with everyone (like Messalina who, let's not forget, was a teenager while Claudius was almost 50); or b)Murdering everyone (Because of course Livia murdered his step grandsons who were in Gaul and Lycia).

Tiberius being completely disgusted by the senators and wanting to get rid of most of them but only managing to become a very broody and antisocial person. (Points to the anecdote of Arruncius who thought he was getting murdered and begged for Tiberius forgiveness by sneaking into the palace and grabbing his knees, making Tiberius fall to the ground).

Nero killing his half brother by poisoning at a dinner party and saying he has epillepsy and he'll be fine while continue eating.

Claudius asking a freedman after Messalina's coup d'etat if he was still the emperor.

There are many more. If you want to know about this stuff, but don't want to read the entirety of the Annals (yes, that's the book's name), I highly recommend reading Agrippina by Emma Southon. She's so much fun and you can learn a lot about women in power in ancient Rome which is always a great thing to do!

I think that it would be a significant improvement to tagging technology if we could entirely separate trigger tags and organisational tags at the code level. Tumblr is already experimenting with this via community labels, but it could go further.

My suggestion would be to have two essentially identical sets of tags - one specifically for triggers and one for organisation. Importantly, one should still be able to block tags from one or the other or both, if one so chose.

I recall that a few years ago I made a bit of art that included an intensely flashing gif, and in my attempt to be careful I tagged it with a lot of epillepsy-related warnings, including "#epillepsy" itself. I would later learn that people with epillepsy go to this tag for resources and community, oops! I think that this would be a nice solution to that sort of thing.

But I liked it anyways. Its art style is ugly, but at least it’s creative. Every frame has so much going on in it for better or for worse. It looks like graffiti made by stoners. I love it for how ugly and loud it looks.

It’s a psychedelic mess. A million colors, a million pointless details, patterns galore. Heck I might even need to put a seizure warning on this. But for whatever reason I like the awfulness of this show’s art style.

God I feel you on the meds crap. The doctor who normally signs off on my testosterone rx moved out of state and I had to cancel a check up with a new one thanks to the virus, so I'm just without my shots until further notice bc there's nobody to tell the pharmacy I'm allowed to renew it

oh no! isn’t it dangerous for you to be without them, too? or is that only in certain circumstances? I don’t know a ton about HRT but I know I’ve heard people express there being really serious consequences of missing more than a day or two.

one of mine’s to control epillepsy, but triggers for it are pretty rare, so mostly I’m just stuck facing down some time overwhelmed by depression :(

of course the epillepsy meds do have a ramp back up, as in if I’m off them for more than about 3 days I’m supposed to start from a tiny dose again, so I’ve decided already I’m cutting what I have in half to make them last *checks bottle* 14 more days, cuz at least that way I can go straight back to my full dosage when I get more >_

In my case it sounds like my psych from clear back in California might be willing to write me a script, but they can only write for there, so I’ll have to get someone to mail them to me... sigh. better than nothing if I can’t find something here.

I interview people who I know have something similar to a character I don’t know much about. Like I asked a bunch of former boyscouts questions about meetings and troupes, and I asked people with epillepsy and dyslexia their experiences... things like that!

Here's a way that illustrates how one can be born plural. It's just one very obvious biological development as a clear example, but you should be able to imagine that there are other possibilities. When someone has really severe epilepsy, a method for literally saving their life is to sever their corpus callosum, disconnecting the two hemispheres of their brain from each other. This can halt the epillepsy in some cases, but it always results in dividing that person into two people, two consciousnesses, one in each hemisphere of the brain. And there've been quite a few experiments done on such patients to figure out what's going on that essentially prove this. Now, you can also be born without a corpus callosum. So, having it severed is the traumagenic way, and being born without it is the endogenic way. These are not DID systems, obviously. But they are plural people. Now, we also know that PTSD, CPTSD, and DID caused by trauma result in an altered brain. We don't know exactly what each alteration does, or why it results in the experiences that happen from it, but we can see via active MRI that traumatized brains are different from neurotypical brains. Here's the thing: There is NO reason to think that those differences HAVE to be caused by trauma. It is entirely possible for a human brain to develop from birth with them. Scientists have NEVER been able to rule that out. And if you pay actual attention to any of the scientific papers written about DID, OSDD, and plurality in general, you'll find that every single scientist makes room for that, even the abusive, biased ones who did really bad studies. Because if they didn't, they'd be laughed out of academia. This isn't to say that the spiritual and psychological methods are any less valid or important to recognize. Just, if you absolutely need some kind of material evidence to understand it, here you go. Something you really can't argue with.

I know you probably get this a lot, feel free to ignore or link me to the answer or something, but I'm confused about endo and voluntary systems. If a system is non traumagenic, where does it come from? I know it's different for everyone, but it has to have some cause, right? And, as for voluntary systems,,,, how does that work? How do you "choose" to have headmates with separate consciousnesses and personalities? No ill will intended with this, I'm just a very confused singlet, and don't really know anything about systems /gen

If a system is nontraumagenic, there’s a lot of things it can come from. Some people do believe they were just born plural, some people say their plurality came from other disorders, some people’s imaginary friends gain sentience (accidental tulpas), you can end up with a walk-in (usually spiritual in origin, basically another entity showing up in your brain fully formed)... This is only a few I can think of off the top of my head. 

As for voluntary systems, there’s tulpas (in very simple terms, you make your brain make another person through a lot of thought exercises and talking to someone as if they’re already there--though how it’s done may have changed in recent years), there’s soulbonds (usually spiritual, it means a mental connection to an external entity--usually fictional but not always) and probably more I’m forgetting.

There’s other ways to be plural, but I’m only listing some of the more common experiences and what they mean. If you need me to clarify anything, let me know, and if anyone wants to add on, feel free to do so!
