Don't know about y'all but Euryloclus really turned out antipathic to me. Someone certainly said all this before, but like, sure he was scared and tired but bro never took responsibility for his actions. Ody asked him to trust him and to not plaint seeds of doubt because OF COURSE this would cost their lives in times like this, and Euryloclus kept breaking his word, first with the bag, then the mutiny then the damn cows, which are BIG mistakes that costed lives and he still has the nerves to be angry at Ody for choosing himself over the one that LITERALLY stabbed him in the back.

You know what, I think Euryloclus stopped trusting Odysseus after Remember them. I don't know why but I'm sure that once we hit the storm saga, that is the moment Euryloclus stopped worrying about Odysseus, stopped believing that Ody was trying all the way he could, even if he tried hard to save as much people as possible all this time. I really hate how Euryloclus just kept pushing, I hate how he thought it was OK to test the honesty of his captain, provoking the death of 548 men for possible money but couldn't bear the idea of six men dead for the sake of the 37 left that could've have a possibility to survive. I hate that Odysseus's last memory of his last crewmates is them, leaded by no one less than his brother-in-law, armed and ready to murder him out of anger and desperation.

"Warrior!Penelope AU" is super fun and I love it too but I hate the fact that I'll see shit with "she's finally cool now." as though she wasn't cool before.

And idk, as an Ares fan as well, I still wish it was Athena. She already looks after and is Penelope's patron Goddess in the Odyssey, most likely since she was young as well. Why can't she continue to watch over her?

Odysseus talks about how smart Penelope is and y'all think Athena's just gonna ignore her? Why? Because she's a woman? Did Penelope only become smart because of Odysseus? She's the goddess of weaving and Penelope is a damn good weaver and is cunning af. Literally other characters describe her as wise and cunning all the time in the Odyssey and Athena literally tell Telemachus that "You're your mother's son as well; you'll be fine." basically.

This isn't against anyone who enjoys or creates with the AU. I'm just complaining and I'm sad that there are some people who think that she has to be in a war to be "cool". I mean I have my lil kickass Penelope as well, being 75% naiad and a spunky lil shit, and that's just with what is in the Odyssey and what is known about Penelope that I've researched. She's cool. Non-AU or AU, doesn't matter.

As a former survivor of severe Cyberbullying and harrasment I can no longer stay silent anymore. You have forced my hand.

This has gone way too far and I am massively disappointed. All I ask is that you listen to what I have to say. This is no longer a joke as a survivor of Cyberbullying and harrasment I can say that a misunderstanding has turned into The Epic Fandom putting the livelihood and well being of artists in danger. I ask you to be respectful and understand I am speaking from old wounds and experience. Please don't twist my words, I don't support 🍇 or Antinous he is a horrible character.

You are better then this, I know you are. Polites taught us to greet the world with open arms and accept when people make mistakes and stop holding onto are anger. The fandom is growing and we can't stop it but I'm really disappointed in the people letting hate win and turning the fandom venomous and toxic

We are all Epic Fans but behind the glass on your screen there's a person, a person with feelings who you know nothing about. You all don't know the real Melody typing this but your all probably gonna make assumptions based on what you dont know and that is the danger of being online. The person who posted fanart of Antinous and Telemachus you didn't like, they have real feelings. Complicated messy feelings that aren't able to be articulated enough online.

As a survivor of bullying myself my motto is block or scroll. I myself am very uncomfortable with a lot of the ao3 tags shipping Odysseus with Poseidon or Zeus but do I go angrily type on my keyboard? No I don't cos it's none of my damnn business. When I saw that art, I was confused and uncomfortable but instead of being reckless and sentimental I asked for clarification. Taking Polites advice I used open arms and talked about what was bothering me without attacking the artist. Instead of being like Polites you all became Poseidon. Ruthlessness Is Mercy is not the way to go, it's a toxic way to go about life. Did you all not listen to that Thunder Saga and see how it destroyed everything Odysseus had known for the past thirteen years.

You should all be absolutely ashamed of yourself. This is not what the Epic Fandom should be. You don't like someone's fan art ask for clarification and or block. There is no need to be Ruthless and cruel. The fact two genuine heartfelt Apologises have been made and you still can't let it go very much clearly shows your character. You are very much like Poseidon and Zeus and should be ashamed. In Ares words you are all sick cowards. Not only that but you are clearly projecting. I suggest you go to therapy if you think your time in the Epic the musical fandom should be spent bullying and harassing people then leave. The number one rule is that there is always a person behind the screen and that you should think before you type.

I'm still not over the fact how you have twisted and triggered someone's truama. I also can't believe hate is being given after the artist mentioned her experience. 🍇 is not a thing to weaponise. I feel like the Wisdom Saga has made you far too comfortable in how you handle and discuss 🍇. The artist forgot her trigger warnings and wasn't even trying to imply the twisted image you put on her. Also I pointed out she shouldn't have tagged it Epic and apologied. Jorge has made adaptations to The Odssey a piece of fiction. What Jorge has done with Antinous is his own creative liberties. If you can't have sensitive and respectful conversation about something that is still happening to people I don't know what to say. Accusing someone of supporting 🍇 is not okay at all. The artist wasn't attending that way and understands she shouldn't have done what she did but it goes both ways. Look for context before you slam. Judging someone based on an honest mistake and huge misunderstanding is dangerous and cruel. Do you not understand the dangers this could put the artist in in real life. Please have open arms and think before you type. This is a serious topic and not a joke.

Moving on I want to talk about why I think this blew up so bad. It's because Elian was commissioned to do an animatic for Jorge. Listen you all would have blocked if it wasn't for that. I read comments saying they idolised her and that is a really f**** dangerous thing to do. Idiolising someone because they've been noticed or hired by Jorge isn't healthy at all. At the end of the day we are all human beings. Elian is allowed to make mistakes and grow. Outside of Epic this is becoming a massive problem in genuine.

Worse I've seen and heard about Artists like Mirscy and AnniFlamma getting attacked just for defending their friend. I'm sorry are we not allowed to defend our friends now from bullying? I can't speak for them but if I saw my friend getting hated and harassed on I'd be angry too, it's like a natural emotion to feel. Then again you are the same fandom that mocks Eurylochus for sticking up for his crew so I'm not suprised. These artists are human beings and not God's because Jorge noticed and appreciated their work. Stop twisting these artists into people there not.

I'm not Tiresias but I can see Jorge stopping collaborating with artists on animatics if you keep this disgusting behaviour up. Constructive criticism is okay but falsely twisting the image of an artist is not okay at all by doing this you are dehumanising artists and doing exactly what Hollywood does. Jorge will have to stop commissioning people it you keep using the fact he noticed them against them when they make mistakes like all human beings do.

Please do better and stop being Poseidons. An 8 year grudge was unhealthy and got him nowhere. Be more like Polites and Greet The World with open arms. Not everything is black and white. Tik Tok built the Epic Fandom up and you hold all the power.

Okay, I don't know how many people here listens to Epic The Musical about Odysseus. (Fantastic songs, can't stop listening to them myself.)

But I'm kind of flabbergasted by the TikTok videos I keep seeing where people are more pissed about Eurylochus opening the bag than Odysseus sacrificing six men???

One was admittedly a really stupid move and Eurylochus should be held accountable even if it was an accident but Odysseus literally picked six people to die without them even knowing. Like, if we're gonna compare situations then Eurylochus' mistake is better matched with Odysseus telling the Cyclops his name (another stupid mistake). Why are people comparing a dumb mistake with literal murder??? And why are people saying Odysseus is the better choice in it?!?!

I went through a pretty bad breakup w a friend earlier this year. It wasn't even one of those clean situations where you can pat yourself on the back for having done nothing wrong. I think the universe just really wants me to know how badly I fucked this shit up. Breakups are extremely hard for me. Getting left behind is probably my worst trigger. Like for fuck's sake I just saw someone on tik tok redraw a picture of the EPIC cast but with the characters they play in their places and they made Aphrodite the whitest woman ever. AND IT WAS SO OBVIOUS CAUSE IT WAS RIGHT NEXT TO THE ORIGINAL PICTURE WITH THE ACTRESS!!

And when someone called them out on it they said "oh my Aphrodite design is based on some renaissance painting besides no one in the drawing has their original skin tone"(a literal fucking lie btw, and a very bad one too). And then you look at the drawing again and they drew fucking Tiresias like a basic anime boy with white hair and a ponytail. WHY DIDN'T YOU BASE HIS DESIGN OF A RENAISSANCE PAINTING?? HMM???

the entire epic: the musical is pulling at my heartstrings i am left emotionally and mentally unstable and for that i hate it but i love it sm more than i hate it its based off of a centuries old story that's still being told and it's a beautiful one at that and the music and voices ans sheer talent and dedication that goes into this adaptation makes it even better the cast are so unhinged and so talented and so supportive and wholesome the entire journey to ithaca was an odyssey in itself and not everyone could make it but they still play huge parts and its just amazing and it's not the end just the closing of a chapter and im still crying and trying not to cry i just rlly rlly rlly love it <3

You know, I was listening to the songs, listening to the low sounds, because I usually only focus on the vocals and skip the drums, and it was new to me how many drums there are in Ruthlessness, and I also heard this thing that sounds like a heartbeat there and in Get in the water, and I thought I should write about it, but recently it was written about?? So what now?

I will not generate correct thoughts, or smart ones. There are people who have already written this or who will write it better than me

"I've got a reputation", Poseidon said. And that's why I will not believe everything he says

"I mean you totally could have avoided all this Had you just killed my son" This is someone who does not care about his son, you say. I say it's someone who want you to think so. How can he seem ruthless if he shows that he cares?

'I'll take your son and gouge his eyes" Is it an eye for an eye thing or does it really hurt him?

"I've gotta make you bleed I need to see you drown" I'm not sure about "gotta", but "need to see"? If it was just about reputation, it would have been enough to drown Odysseus for others to know. But he needs to see. It's a satisfaction about something more personal than reputation. Maybe he's a sadist, but that's not what I'm getting at /looks at Polyphemus/

"Mercy has a price" "Unlike you I've got no mercy left to give" I'll say it here. Mercy has a price is just not something I think people come to on their own. They learn it the hard way or someone else tells them So yeah, who told you this? How did you pay? #✨trauma✨

"Today, you die Unless, of course, you apologize" Odysseus doesn't apologize, but that's not the point, we know he's doomed anyway. Poseidon doesn't really demand an apology, he wants Odysseus to regret his actions, to show the attitude a mortal should show toward a god. Instead, Odysseus explains his position to him, adult to adult, almost as if they were equals

"Forty three left under your command" Did… did he count??

"I am your darkest moment The monster that always draws near" Poseidon quotes, like he thinks he understands Odysseus Never mind, just look, here Poseidon calls himself a monster

"Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves Die" There's a voice distortion at the end of Get in the water, the same line, but lower and growling. Does Scylla do something like that? Well… No. But it would be really cool if yes. Because then I could explain these lines: "so find a place he’d never go" "where he’s scared to roam" by the fact (that's not a fact… ) that she is his daughter and he failed her. And he can’t face the consequences (#✨trauma✨)

"Told me to close my heart (You) You said the world was dark (Monster) Didn't you say that ruthlessness is mercy upon our-" Remember that Poseidon called himself a monster earlier. For me, he now recognizes Odysseus as an equal, especially considering how the concepts of man (mortal) and monster are divided. And again, they quote each other, but these are the main motives. They are both monsters, they both use ruthlessness. Not counting the fact that Poseidon uses it when he can, and Odysseus when he can't do otherwise. Odysseus understands Poseidon's point and rejects it, Poseidon thinks he understands Odysseus, but he doesn't understand shit

"Alright, please" He may be screaming in extreme outrage at how Odysseus dares to turn his own words against him. But I can hear that he's on the verge of tears. And the next sentence is rather muffled "After everything you've done How will you sleep at night?"

Like He's taken a lot of physical blows, a blow to his reputation, a blow to his worldview (I think it will get to him very soon, but he will be in denial for a long time), all at once and from the mortal he was hunting. Who wouldn't cry?

WARNING FOR SA? Just a thought I had regarding Antinous and Calypso as a survivor of sexual assault myself.

..to be honest, I like.. hate Antinous more than Calypso as a survivor myself? Like not a mouth-foaming severe hatred or anything, but I defintely hate him more than Calypso. I understand why those who believe it was implied Calypso assaulted Odysseus in Epic hate Calypso so much since she uses phrases and behaves in a way that makes people more triggered into hating her character, especially since she may remind them of past abusive relationships. I've been assaulted by a girl before too, so I know what it's like to have a female abuser. However, no one can ever seem to make up their minds on whether she assaulted him or not? So anytime I think of her, I don't know how to feel just because everyone never has a clear answer, and some insist Jorge says she didn't assault him—but that it's still wrong of her to trap Ody. And it is. I just.. haven't been through the type of treatment Calypso puts Ody through? And my abusers haven't acted like Calypso, so I take her less personally.

..however, Antinous, on the other hand.. I've never been triggered by his character since I knew Hold Them Down was coming. But, Gods.. I hate him so much more. He reminds me of everything that hurt me. I tend to dislike some men in general due to how much more men I've been assaulted by than women, and also because of the general way some men behave. He talks in such a disgusting, vulgar, blunt way about Penelope. Not to mention how much of myself I see in Penelope. How much Antinous reminds me of disgusting pervy guys I've met, and even of one who assaulted me in the library when I was younger. Fuck. I just fucking hate Antinous. I like using him as a character for AU's, but holy shit I hate him. With how much of myself I see in Penelope, it makes Antinous feel so much more personal. The type of abuse I've been through is not like how Calypso treated Odysseus, but how Antinous treated Penelope. And Penelope being surrounded by suitors who all want to assault her remind me of all being surrounded by men who just wont take a fucking hint and leave me alone and stop harassing me and godbsayahzysussughhhhherhrhrhdhdghhh

I hate Antinous. I hate him so much more than Calypso. /neg

Ok. I don't usually make comments on my opinions beyond rebloging. But some things have been making me mad.

That being the number of people saying characters are being hated or disliked because of the race of people acting them. Because if you read the numerous analysis posts, you realize that is not true at all. We don't like those characters because of their actions and words within the musical. For instance, I don't like Calypso because of the implied assault and abuse within the lyrics, which are drawn from the Odyssey. It is not because she is black. It is because she is a manipulative and abusive person who has trapped Odysseus in a relationship and a place he has no hope of escaping beyond death. And you see that with how she acts when he is on the ledge, inches away from death.
