I Like to Watch | Zack Snyder’s Justice League

Mythology is fun.

As a kid I loved reading Edith Hamilton’s book on the Greek gods and the myths. Hercules, Perseus, Apollo, and Hera—this fell completely in line with my love for superhero comics. The strangely petty human traits of envy, greed, and lust combined with the power to level cities make for some great storytelling.

Zeus was basically Harvey Weinstein in the retroactive revision we’re mired in today. If Harvey could’ve changed into a golden animal and boned unsuspecting ladies looking for careers in Hollywood I’m pretty certain he would. The gods and demi-gods of the Greeks dealt with daddy issues, mommy issues, bad relationships, and fighting. Lots of fighting. Sometimes for the good of humanity but more often for the glory of winning.

Zach Snyder is in the business of tackling myths and reframing them with a style all his own. His career has become its own myth.

From Dawn of the Dead (not so much a reboot of Romero's zombie mythology but a philosophical reimagining of the genre that arguably jumpstarted The Hollywood fascination with it), 300 (a borderline homoerotic take on the myth of the Greek underdog), and Watchmen (a ridiculously ambitious attempt to put one of the most iconic takedowns on the potential fascism of the superhero legend machine ever written) to his nearly single-handed hack at answering the Marvel juggernaut with Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, Snyder is in the artistic business of subverting and re-envisioning the mythologies we embrace without even seeing them as such.

Snyder's style is operatic. It is on a grand scale even in the most mundane moments. The guy loves slow motion like Scorcese loves mobsters and Italian food. When you're tackling big themes with larger than life stories, the epic nature of his vision makes sense and has alienated a good number of audience members. With such excess, there are bound to be missteps but I'd argue that his massive take on these characters he molds from common understanding and popular nomenclature elevates them to god-like stature.

Fans of Moore's Watchmen have much to complain about Snyder's adaptation. The titular graphic novel is almost impossible to put in any other form than the one Moore intended and yet, Snyder jumped in feet-first and created a living, breathing representation of most, if not all, of the source material's intent. Whether you dig on it or not, it's hard to avoid acknowledging that the first five minutes of Watchmen is a mini-masterpiece of style, storytelling, and epic tragedy wrapped up in a music video.

Despite a host of critical backlash for his one fully original take, Sucker Punch is an amazing thing to see. More a commentary on video game enthusiasm with its lust for hot animated chicks and over-the-top violence that a celebration of cleavage and guns, the film is crazily entertaining. For those who hated the ending, he told you in the title what his plan was all along.

The first movie I saw in the theaters that tried to take a superhero mythology and treat it seriously (for the most part) was Richard Donner's Superman: The Movie. Never as big a fan of the DC characters as I have been of Marvel, it was still extraordinary to see a character I had only really known in pages to be so fully realized. Then came Burton's Batman movies. The superhero film was still an anomaly but steam was gaining. Things changed with Bryan Singer's X-Men in 2000, then Raimi's Spiderman, and those of us who grew up with our pulpy versions of Athena, Hermes, and Hades were rewarded with Nolan's Batman Begins. A far cry from the tongue-in-cheek camp of the 1966 TV Batman, Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne was a serious character and his tale over three films is a tragic commentary filled with the kind of death and betrayal and triumph befitting the grand narrative he deserved.

I loved Singer's Superman Returns in 2006 because it was such a love letter to the 1978 film (down to the opening credits) but by then, the MCU was taking over the world.

Snyder's first of what turns out to be an epic storyline involving perhaps seven or eight movies was Man of Steel. It was fun and, while I had my issues with the broodiness of Kal El, the odd take on Jonathan Kent, and a redheaded Lois Lane, I had no issue with Superman snapping Zod's neck. Darker and more tragic than any other version of the Kryptonian, it was still super entertaining.

Then came Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. By 2016, Marvel had codified their formula of serious characters wrestling with serious issues of power and responsibility peppered with lots of good humor and bright colors. Snyder's desaturated pallete and angst-filled demi-gods was not the obvious road to financial competition.

I'll confess, I hated it. BvS felt half-rendered. Lex Luthor was kind of superficial and played as a kind of Joker. The whole Bruce Wayne wants to kill Superman thing felt undeveloped and the "Martha" moment was just stupid.

When Joss Whedon's version of Snyder's Justice League came out in 2017, I was primed for it to be a turd and I wasn't surprised. So much of it didn't work on any level. I dismissed it as DC trying and failing miserably and was comforted by the coming of Thanos.

Following Thanos and the time heist was COVID. Suddenly, we were internationally sidelined and the movie theater industry caved in. Streaming services started popping up like knock-off smartphones and Hollywood was reeling, doing anything and everything to find a way back. Since Whedon's disastrous helming of Snyder's third act, fans online had been demanding to #ReleasetheSnyderCut but no one was ever really taking them seriously until all movie production was shut down for a year.

The stage was set to remedy a mistake (or at least make some bucks on a do-over of a huge box office failure). Snyder had left the production in part because of the suicide of his daughter and in part due to the constant artistic fights over executives looking for the quippy fun of the MCU but he still had all the original footage. Add to that the broiling accusations that Joss Whedon was "abusive" during the reshoots, the path seemed destined. For an additional $70 million and complete control, Snyder delivered a four hour mega-movie streamed on HBOMax.

Of course, I was going to watch the thing as soon as I could.

The Whedon version opens with an homage to the now dead Superman (including the much maligned digitally erased mustache on Henry Cavill). The SynderCut opens with the death of Superman and the agony of his death scream as it travels across the planet. It's a simple change but exemplifies the very different visions of how this thing is gonna play out.

Snyder doesn't want us to be OK with the power of these beings unleashed. He wants us to feel the damage and pain of death. He wants the results of violence to be as real as he can. When Marvel's Steve Rogers kicks a thug across the room and the thug hits a wall, he crumples and it is effectively over. When Batman does the same thing, we see the broken bones (often in slow motion) and the blood smear on the wall as the thug slides to the ground.

The longer SnyderCut is bloated in some places (like the extended Celtic choir singing Aquaman off to sea or the extended narrations by Wonder Woman which sound slightly like someone trying to explain the plot to Siri). On the other hand, the scene with Barry Allen saving Iris West is both endearing and extraordinary, giving insight to the power of the Flash as well as some essential character-building in contrast to Whedon's comic foil version.

One thing I noticed in this variant is that Zach wants the audience to experience the sequence of every moment as the characters do. An example comes when Diana Prince goes to the crypt to see the very plot she belabors over later. The sequence is simple. She gets a torch and goes down. Most directors which jump cut to the torch. Snyder gives us five beats as she grabs the timber, wraps cloth around the end, soaks it with kerosene, pulls out a box of matches, and lights the torch. Then she goes down the dark passageway.

The gigantic, lush diversity of Snyder’s vision of the DC superhero universe—from the long shots of the sea life in the world of Atlantis to the ancient structures and equipment of Themyscira— is almost painterly. Snyder isn't taking our time; he's taking his time. We are rewarded our patience with a far better backstory for the villain, a beautifully rendered historic battle thwarting Darkseid's initial invasion (including a fucking Green Lantern), and answers to a score of questions set up in both previous films.

Whedon's Bruce Wayne was more Ben Affleck; Snyder's is full-on Frank Miller Batman, the smartest, most brutal fucker in the room. Cyborg, instead of Whedon's sidelined non-character, is now a Frankenstein's monster, grappling with the trade-off between acceptance and enormous power. Wonder Woman is now more in line with the Patty Jenkins version and instead of being told about the loss of Superman, we are forced to live with the anguish of both his mother and Lois Lane in quiet moments of incredible grief.

To be fair to Whedon (something few are willing to do as he is now being castigated not for racism or sexism but for being mean to people) having him come in to throw in some levity and Marvel-esque color to Snyder's Wagnerian pomposity is like hiring Huey Lewis to lighten up Pink Floyd's The Wall or getting Douglas Adams to rewrite Cormac McCarthy's The Road.

I loved Snyder's self-indulgent, mythologic DC universe.

So much so that I then re-watched Man of Steel and then watched the director's version of BvS (which Snyder added approximately 32 minutes). The second film is far better at three hours and Eisenberg's Lex Luthor now makes sense. Then I watched Zach Snyder's Justice League a second time.

After nineteen hours of Snyder's re-imagining of these DC heroes and villains, I saw details that, upon first viewing, are ignored or dismissed, but after seeing them in order and complete, are suddenly consistent and relevant. Like Nolan or Fincher, Snyder defies anyone to eliminate even one piece of his narrative no matter how long. With all the pieces, this is an epic story and the pieces left at the extended epilogue play into a grander narrative we will never see.

Or maybe we will. Who knows these days?

Do my final showdown between my main (anti) villain and the (not so) heroes be a a battle like the type you see in superhero movie or a shonen anime? Look, mine its a fictional world where there are many morally grey characters, some of the supposed heroes are more villanious and evil than the villain, and the villain is more decent than them, its the goal what makes him the main antagonist. The problems is that my characters also have powers so people would expect a epic final battle. - >

Plus, i dont have a main hero set up to be the villain's main adversary. I just dont have any character in that role, yes, the villain is an archenemy to many characters and i do have traditional heroes too, but not the ' avengers/justice league vs thanos/darkseid' type of. There is a final "battle" but is not really the epic type, and is the type where the heroes actually screw everything up rather the villain.

There’s nothing that says the final battle needs to be “epic” or city-destroying as in most superhero movies. The size of the battle doesn’t matter. What’s at stake matters. Who are the readers rooting for and what’s at stake if they lose? What terrible thing will happen if the wrong side wins? That’s what matters. :)

Keep in mind them being low does not mean they’re bad. Its just to me, compared to the others are just so cool!

#10 - Black Panther vs. Batman

This was a Death Battle I only looked briefly into. Like some of early Black Panther and the comic where he fought the Red Skull without his Vibranium suit. To think some people thought it can rip. Meanwhile we have done Batman twice before so its just updating to include new stuff. But the fight was impressive and I am still surprised they managed to fit in a frikkin fight with a rhino. The fight was awesome too, with a well done background and some unique choices (fighting while crouching, who said it was cheap?). Any other season and it could have been higher, so expect some big ones.

#9 - Sora vs. Pit

I avoided researching this for one simple reason: Kingdom Hearts is nuts when it comes to plot. Heck, people were upset with Angry Joe about not considering the previous games when reviewing 3 when KH3 will most likely be people’s jumping in point. But if you do need a summary on KH and what Sora is all about, this episode does a fine job. Also a lot of fun info on Pit. But it is the animation that stands out. If you told me two animators worked on this I would be surprised because it was seamless. The fight was fun and Pit’s VA sounds pretty close to him too. And of course I do love the sprite work of those Super Smash Flash characters.

#8 - Doctor Strange vs. Doctor Fate

Still haven’t seen Dr. Strange the movie, but my father grew up reading him. By this point, we got assignments and I wasn’t given either. But man did it look fun to look into. With so much of the wacky things they’ve done it would have been fun to look into this. And animation wise was really impressive. So many locations. So much hand drawn animations! And the finale was awesome to see.

#7 - Jotaro Kujo vs. Kenshiro  

I wanted to research this match so badly. I was even halfway through Jotaro’s part in the Manga before I got hit with the Flu. This was going to be my excuse to get into both and I did enjoy the Jojo I did read, but now it has to wait another time. But meanwhile, the fight was fun and also included some hand drawn animation to go alongside the sprites. They both showcased some of their best move and seeing his gramps say all his quotable lines were frikkin funny. And man, Kenshiro is impressive. If the various clips online didn’t show that off, this DB pretty much explained how.

#6 - Leon S. Kennedy vs. Frank West

While I ain’t a big time fan of their games, I always found their stories interesting. From how terrible Umbrella is to Frank’s interview with that reporter in the live action movie. So it was going to be fun to see this match researched and animated. And indeed it was. From all the wacky things they’ve done in games to how much action there is in the animation. Seeing them fight each other as well as zombies was frikkin awesome to see. And some cool lines coming from the two. After all, while Frank did cover wars, Leon’s been in them.

#5 - Nightwing vs. Daredevil 

The First Live Action Death Battle! And they done a great job on it! Knowing the people behind it, Nightwing and Daredevil made the most sense out of all the matches since they already got those costumes made. The fight was fun and impressive from the skills the characters have to the actors ability to display them. The research was fun to look into as well, as they had some funny stuff (like Greyson’s butt cheeks having names))

#4 - Ultron vs. Sigma  

I was rooting for Sigma, but Ultron just proved too much for my favorite virus. I helped a little here and there but not enough to be an influence. Makes me wish this was a War battle between Ultron’s Robots and the Mavericks. The animation was great, the song is pretty catchy, and Sigma’s custom sprites were fun to see in action, especially from a limited sheet like that.

#3 - Samurai Jack vs. Afro Samurai

First drawn in house animation for Death Battle! And it did a brilliant job on making the two look so fine! I knew a whole lot about Jack, have all his pre-final seasons on DVD. Not a clue on Afro but from what I did see he still was impressive. As for the fight itself it was frikkin awesome to see Afro done in a style similar to Jack. And that ending was so impressive!

#2 - Thanos vs. Darkseid

Talk about a finale of epic proportions. The two alone could probably take on every Death Battle competitor together and still come out on top. Heck, one of them probably could. Luckily their sights were on each other. It is still impressive how much stuff the two have done, while the current story may make Thanos look impressive, it is likely to be back to square one in the future. And even if those were included, Darkseid still reigns supreme. Animation wise was awesome, from how gigantic the battle is to how cartoony Deadpool was. Maybe in the future we will see a 3D Cartoon Battle. This was definitely a Season Finale worthy of such a title.

#1 - Optimus Prime vs. RX-78-2 Gundam

While the finale was great, to me this match was the perfect package. From the research on both to the animation (especially for the first time using Unreal) and the thing that wraps it in a bow: the song. I still hear that track so often. This has pretty much everything a Death Battle needed. For me, it would be hard to put this up against Carnage Vs Lucy for my favorite of the season because this one has so much going for it! If you have to see one of this season, it is this match.

Loki Pays Tribute to One of The Most Ridiculous Moments in Marvel History

Lots of major superheroes and supervillains have those moments that they just can’t live down. Those obscure situations that are always brought up for a laugh. There’s Batman’s inability to get rid of a bomb or his exclamation of, “WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME?!” Spider-Man’s time on Broadway is a joke that will never stop being funny. Captain America once got sad because a reporter yelled at him for not having a MySpace page. Superman once shook hands with Jared from Subway. Deadpool was a mouthless Baraka that one time. Magneto was once tricked by a wooden gun and was so broken up about it that he forgot he had powers.

Yes, stupid stuff happens a lot with comic properties and Thanos is no different. The fifth episode of Loki, “Journey Into Mystery,” played into that by referencing one of his earliest and silliest comic moments. As Loki and his various counterparts wandered through the Void – a junkyard-like version of Earth at the end of time, littered with discarded pieces of pruned alternate realities – they passed by a helicopter with “THANOS” on the side of it.

The Thanos Copter is Real

That’s right. Of all the deep cuts, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has chosen to remind the world of the Thanos Copter.

So what is the Thanos Copter? Our legend begins in 1979. Spider-Man had his own comic for the very young crowd called Spidey Super Stories. Issue #39 featured a story involving then-recently-created villain Thanos trying to hunt down the Cat and reclaim the Cosmic Cube so he could rule the world. We’re so used to seeing Thanos as the be-all/end-all of supervillainy that it’s hilarious to read this early, all-ages piece and see him lose like a doofus and get led away in handcuffs by the local police.

What makes this story so memorable is that in three panels, Thanos flies around in a run-of-the-mill helicopter with his name on the side. It’s not even futuristic or alien in any way. It’s such a bizarre concept that it’s stayed with readers for decades. Thanos, scourge of the cosmos and once ruler of all time and space…just flying through New York City in a branded helicopter.

The Legacy of the Thanos Copter

Over the last several years, the Thanos Copter has made its presence known here and there in interesting ways. For instance, Deadpool #45 featured a backup story about Deadpool stealing the Infinity Gauntlet from Thanos and using it to host his own superhero roast to make some big meta point about how painful and empty Wade’s life truly is. ANYWAY, Thanos’ appearance in the story included him flying around in the Thanos Copter because of course.

Then there’s Infinity Wars: Fallen Guardian. Thanks to the Infinity Gauntlet, Drax the Destroyer has been split into two forms: his green humanoid self and his pre-origin self Arthur Douglas. Arthur has his mind wiped and gets to live a normal life, but he still has weird dreams. Dreams of his family being attacked by a purple alien in a helicopter.

The video game LEGO Marvel’s Avengers allowed you to fly the stupid thing. Hell, Marvel even officially released it physically in different forms, from a Hot Wheels model, to a remote control toy, to a Heroclix figure.

Of course, it gets referenced by internet culture all the time. When Death Battle did an episode of Thanos vs. Darkseid, their rocking, animated throwdown included a cameo appearance by the Titan’s vehicle. Epic Rap Battles of History did an installment with Thanos battle rapping J. Robert Oppenheimer, which included the lyric, “Got my name on this win like it’s the Thanos Copter!”

This technically isn’t even the first time the Thanos Copter has been referenced in the MCU. In Avengers: Endgame, Thanos wields a giant two-sided blade that he occasionally spins around. Fans feel that its resemblance to a helicopter is just a sly wink and nod to that one silly issue of Spidey Super Stories that everyone refuses to forget, reimagining something goofy into something totally badass.

I wonder if Loki will take any more inspiration from Spidey Super Stories panels. Hm…

My Dream Sonic Movie Stuff

I felt like putting revealed but just I’m worried it might not be all of it. Also was listening to this and was thinking of this. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YUN7DIDGpjk Infinite’s theme but I first thought of this when I was at Target. Yet didn’t wanna type a big thing and my phone battery was low even right now 33 percent. But I feel I should just reveal this.

Ever since the leak from Reddit I have it on my blog I’ve reblogged it and think should I tag it. Yet just….would get more attention just something I mean the leak itself. Including shared it with my friend Fatpinkraccoon and I think he said it was decent and wait

So I was trying to find the draft and he said it doesn’t sound horrible and he’s open up to it or some shit. Just seriously I was trying to find this draft I saved now 31 percent.

Yet seriously but I’m gonna get what I’m talking about. It’s about just I wanna be honest but or just…I feel like it went it’s good that if the leak is true or not. I mean my version is honestly kind of crazy. While the movie is kind of simple and alright. Despite some stuff I’m bothered with and liked.

Yeah it’s possibly better then my ideas I’ll explain.

Since I’m a Zack Snyder fan and I’ve even said I want to see Zack Snyder make a Sonic film. Which just…it can’t be weird yet I like him very much and Deborah Snyder too who helps him. Including I’m a DCEU fan and just it’s rare to find some Sonic fans and DCEU as one but found some.

Yet my ideas were basically kind of crazy I wanna talk about the ones I should just reveal. Because I feel like it’s not gonna be how I imagine it.

Including spoilers for the DCEU but mainly for Batman V Superman Dawn Of Justice only that but just in case beware.

So mainly keep thinking of a trilogy or even a series of movies that’s kind of similar mainly to BVS to Justice League. While the first movie okay I think I have a story but not much.

Basically what I keep thinking is Sonic and Eggman or Robotink being said more have known each other for years. With Metal Sonic being introduced in the film. Including the film basically just has references and these ideas of these movies.

Is that they have awesome visual references or just being based upon certain stuff. Such as the origin of Metal Sonic basically being based upon his origin from the OVA even a shot to shot remake I guess of his birth. Even the, “Strange Isn’t It” line is reference because of how much I loved that movie. Including how it interpreted Metal Sonic.

Along with the music the soundtracks being scored by Hans Zimmer if he was up for it along with Junkie XL most likely would for scores. Including very meaningful ones.

While the songs are some picked from the games to go with certain events.

Theirs even a remake version of the Sonic CD intro almost left Boom but you know the song and have it there but with Modern Sonic or movie Sonic. Even stuff like the Death Egg Robot but the story was a problem whether go with the Death Egg or Little Planet in respect of Metal Sonic and my friend Fatpinkraccoon messaged me about don’t be hyped for movies just it didn’t show the whole thing didn’t press it. Might be how he meant about Sonic Forces.

Yet also the music the songs not just from the games. But new ones selected from certain musical groups. Such as Linkin Park despite the tragic event that happened, Red, Disturbed and seriously, “Ten Thousand Fists” is amazing and just have that during a team up battle scene.

Then theirs the sequel and the crazy idea Sega would want Shadow early but I want Chaos done first too. Yet I was even making myself think that giving it a exuse. But the idea of mixing Sonic Adventure 1 and 2’s story together to have both Shadow and Chaos working together along with Dr. Eggman, Rouge, and Metal Sonic.

Including it’s still difficult of how to put those together. Such as Gerald’s plans and Perfect Chaos and the Ark. Also Tikal is in there too even talks to Shadow at times along with others.

Their is also the idea that the sequel is basically the Dawn Of Justice of the Sonic movies where the ending is of Super Sonic, Super Shadow, Perfect Chaos now reformed, and even Metal Sonic who knows the planet will die if he doesn’t help they all fight the Biolizard who’s strong as fuck.

Including it’s basically the Trinity vs Doomsday in BVS and it’s on Earth. Including in a weird way Metal Sonic is in Wonder Woman’s role because coming out of nowhere because he knows he needs to get involved.

Even the ending and I’ve made a huge text post where Shadow kills the Biolizard and the Biolizard kills him too. They even seriously bury Shadow as well and it causes people to think and makes them sad.

Then the sequel is basically Sonic Rush and Sonic Lost World into one no Eggman Nega but Blaze, Marine, and the Deadly Six. Where it even features Shadow’s rebirth.

Even his rebirth is basically a visual reference to Sonic X in the third season. He seriously launches out of his grave and but you know see his face but I guess his well shadow see what I did there or even feet or back of him looking at his monument.

He then just finds where a battle is at and his rings his inhibitor rings he took all four of them off and Amy has them. Including he finds these two Chaos Emeralds or how many were there when he returned and everyone is like HOLY FUCKING SHIT SHADOW BACK FROM THE FUCKING GRAVE HE’S ALIVE AGAIN the whole world goes ape shit or just so surprised.

Yet Shadow lost his memory when he supposedly died and I wanna put this he’s like I CAN’T REMEMBER SHIT BECAUSE I GOT STABBED BY A FUCKING BIOLIZARD or some shit. I forgot basically or was it like I CAN’T FUCKING DIE I WAS IN A COMA or some shit okay yeah I WAS HEALING FOR A SHIT LONG TIME FOR MONTHS or something because he can’t die. Yeah he got stabbed in the chest where his heart is at and everyone finds out about that he seriously can’t die.

But also he’s like not able to remember anything even they tell him he scarificed himself for the Earth and forgot does he just get out of his grave quickly or does he look at his monument forgot the first time of how I thought of it.

Yet even them telling him about the Ark he just can’t remember and doesn’t wanna help until something happens like characters words and actions he remembers everything before his death and back to the Ark and when he remembers he’s like to Zavok DON’T YOU DARE THREATEN MY FAMILY or YOU DARE THREATEN MY FAMILY while beating the shit out of him. That’s a reference to Man Of Steel and just the word family is a big word. Including Shadow because of Maria and Gerald the word means something to him or bothers him.

I even forgot in the sequel when kicking Sonic’s ass theirs a Martha moment I even made a post of that before Sonic Forces but it’s a moment I like and I understand it. Yet when Sonic says what about Maria or some shit and he even says SAVE MY FAMILY and okay WHAT ABOUT MARIA basically the scene where someone ether Amy or Chris tries to talk to Shadow. This basically haunts Shadow and he’s like STOP SAYING THAT NAME because he thinks he should be the only one to say that name. I’ve even quoted this and afterwards he’s like NO ONE’S FAMILY IS DYING TONIGHT.

I should just reveal basically Shadow’s role is mixing Batman and Superman’s character into one in a way.

But just I’m being weird and I need to talk about other stuff. Theirs Tails and I like Tails. You guys know and I was gonna say remember his Tornado yet weird it’s Sonic’s plane or whatever they say. Including remember it can turn into some vehicle in Sonic Adventure 2.

Also in Sonic X it’s the X Tornado and just imagine this. It’s a lot more fucking badass that even it’s vehicle forms has even more fucking guns kind of like tank. Basically just imagine the Bat vehicles even the Batmobile and just Tails is a fucking badass in that thing. It’s got fucking guns and can fly. Even other people can ride it.

Their also seems to be a lot of shouting WOOOOO mainly Sonic because I do that mainly Sonic Unleashed or some shit.

Including the other weird thing okay having the film be all CGI isn’t weird.

But I’m just also this I’m like so how are we gonna have, Catherine Taber (Lori Loud), Noel Wells(Lord Dominator) Ashley Burch (Enid) basically Loud House, Wander Over Yonder, OK KO and other actors how are we gonna fit them in and still think like human characters and new characters and others.

Including now with Sonic Forces out I’ve even revealed stuff. Such as a Team Chaotix movie with Vector, Espio, Charmy, Mighty, Ray, and maybe Madonna and forgot or might of thought of having Honey in there. Even the villains being Fang, Bean, and Bark and Sonic shows up at the end to help the Chaotix.

Their was even a Shadow film but not based upon the game but a new story. A Sonic Unleashed film as one of the sequels. Then a Sonic Mania movie. Now we have a two part movie of Sonic Forces with Silver appearing in the first one and this is all before Sonic Forces came out.

Including it’s not the big epic game I was hoping for that Fatpinkraccoon said I had false hopes about. Along with Infinite not being the Darkseid/Thanos of the Sonic universe where he kicks everyone’s ass. But yeah Sonic Mania being a prequel to Sonic Forces like how the game is too. To set up Classic Sonic and give classic fans a movie they want.

Yet just….over time shit changes. Even though I like Sonic Forces I still play it but I’m mixed on the game. Including my mindset has really changed. Such as I like the avatar and Infinite despite what his real story is……

I feel like that should be enough to be revealed. Such as just…I’ve talked about it before even sound tracks I listen from BVS I think of those scenes and just…..

Really it’s I thought in my head best that I’m not in charge of these films. I’ve basically created a franchise in my head and it’s caused me to go insane at times.

I said in my head let me have this like this leak. But even if it’s fake or not almost left rare instead of fake. Really just I like it oh head.

Okay but seriously it’s simple. Seriously my stomach even at the start of this somewhat but I’ve thought so much shit but not the first movie that’s all.

THE HISTORY OF THE OMEGA FIST TOURNAMENT

With the OFT 4 coming very soon it was best to look back at the crazy, intense, and epic Facebook Fantasy Fighting tournament.

THE ORIGINAL OMEGA FIST TOURNAMENT

The first OFT (with the help of A.C.M.G. member Quincy M. Price) was put together using fighting game characters to see if the members of ACMG would be interested in seeing who they believed was the number one character of all of the tournament. Fighters from some of the most popular games in history such as STREET FIGHTER, FATAL FURY, TEKKEN, MORTAL KOMBAT to name a few were paired in a fantasy fighting match up. Members of A.C.M.G. voted democratically to see who they thought was the more dominant combatant.

When it came to the FINAL FIST ROUND it came down to legendary characters RYU and the EMPEROR SHAO KAHN.

The votes were in and the results was unanimous. RYU was our first ever OMEGA FIST CHAMPION.

A NEW CONTEST IS BORN IN THE FORM OF OFT II

With the success of the first tournament, it allowed me to make an attempt to really step it up. Making it into something that members of the group would really want to jump on. The one thing that people love to do is discuss and/or debate on who they believe is the best. People also like it even more when they can convince people of what they believe is true.

This gave me the idea to make a contest out of the concept giving contestants a chance to debate and campaign their picks to see who in fact the members of .A.C.M.G. felt was a dominant team. YES! This time I up’d the stipulation with a TAG TEAM BATTLE which this time was based on US Comic Book characters. Contestant would have the chance to pick two characters with a few rules. The winner of this tournament would win an assortment of prizes from VIEW FINDERS I.S.A.D. (vfisad.com) and former sponsors PRINTHEADZ: Custom Prints and Design who provided a CHAMPIONSHIP package (A T-shirt, Mug, and Mouse pad designed by VIEW FINDERS I.S.A.D.)

12 contestants and members of the A.C.M.G.  stepped up to the challenge to claim their teams as the second OMEGA FIST CHAMPION (and proclaiming them as the first ever OMEGA FIST WINNER).

The match making for the tournament was quite a challenge as I had to make sure that fantasy fights were fair and balance at the beginning. It was very important to give everyone a chance to make it. Now granted their pics are their own so if they pick a character that may be considered weak to the rest that is the gamble that they make. The other important thing to note is that none of the contestants know what the other contestant has picked for as their chosen characters in the tournament until the very moment they compete. 

There were some real intense battles with some real power players. There were also some “interesting” picks like former member Compound Fracture (origin or such a name is unknown in the world of Goggle other than the definition) who chose Thanos and Megatron (which I can see why he chose the two).

But a REALLY interesting pick goes to one Robert Wilson who went with the fun picks of War Machine Vs. Justin Hammer (seriously he even made a campaign video for the OFT II hyping the arrival of Justin Hammer).

The battle went back and forth with fun (and sometimes intense) debating that led to the FINAL FIST ROUND (a Triple threat final round consisting of three teams due to the number of contestants that participated that year) which became a very EPIC and controversial conclusion.

The EPIC Battle!

After an epic debate in a triple treat battle between the teams of Quincy Price (representing King Thor and Darkseid), Nate Drowell (representing Franklin Richards and Prof. Zoom), and Randy Green (representing Superman and Dr. Fate) the members of A.C.M.G.

The battle throughout the day went back and forth. Every hour one tied while the other superseded in votes.

By the end of the time limit there was a very interesting development that occur for the first time in OFT HISTORY.

The result of the count turned out to be a tie between Quincy Price’s team and Nate Drowell’s. Randy Green had the lowest amount eliminating him from the TRIPLE FIST FINAL ROUND.

In the event that there was a tie I would step in to make the final vote (something that I didn’t want to do at all). Consequently I had to do much extensive research on the two teams to see who I thought was in fact the more dominant team. NOTE: This actually would not be a tie if not for a member of the group playing around with their vote. The rules were said that if you make a vote you have to explain why they thought that team was the most dominant team of that match up and they had to do so before the 12 hour time limit. Here’s what went down as explained in last year’s post: LAYING DOWN THE LAWS OF THE OMEGA FIST

“If you read the previous results of the OFT first round eliminations we discovered that voting was becoming unjust. Members were voting for the more popular vote of characters they may have seen on TV or movies (e.g. Superman) or because they knew a person who was a contestant in the tournament which means that they are not voting for a character particular which I found to be unfair, unethical, and irresponsible on the part of some voters.

A rule was then added to assure that people would be legit and valid reasons as to why they are voting for the characters chosen by the contestant. This not only met with fair results, but it also educated others (myself included) to characters that we never had the chance to invest in.

Again, make sure your vote count.

Unfortunately that was not the case for one of the members as he decided to play around and not make a valid call. Some of the members didn’t understand what he was saying or doing as he posted pics of Rey Mysterio Jr. from the WWE and reciting remix versions of the song in relation to the Thanos and Thor. It came off convoluted in translation and didn’t make too much sense.

As a result of counting the votes two times to make sure that it was indeed a tie which means I have to read all 144 comments that was on that post.”

And at the end of the day, I made my decision and we had a winner.

And thus ends an epic event in A.C.M.G. history. How will A.C.M.G. top this?

By upping the ante on all aspects. This year we added 16 contestants.

Also this year we now have a OFT committee which now consist of myself, former competitors Mike Jones, co-host of TALK TIME LIVE Lou Johnson, and 2015 OFT CHAMPION Quincy M. Price. We will be handling the judgement and order of the tournament to continue to strength and integrity of the OMEGA FIST TOURNAMENT. Everyone was excited about OFT3. EVERYBODY.

To top all of this great chaos TALK TIME LIVE had the opportunity to talk with none other than Kyle Hebert himself. Known for voicing many great characters in anime (Gohan, Kiba from Naruto, Captain Aizen, and more), he is also the voice of the iconic Street Fighter character RYU (also the the character to be voted as first ever OMEGA FIST CHAMPION).

In this very fun interview he not only talked about STREET FIGHTER V (newly released at the time before the Story Mode) but he also gave best wishes to all of the contests of the SFV EDITION of the OFT3 and provided us with a greetings soundbite for the OFT 3 highlight podcast. EPIC!!!

The WATCHERS of the OMEGA:

A lot of close calls throughout the tournament but this time we enlisted A.C.M.G. member who were willing to oversee the tournament and make sure that no controversy would take place and we get a sure winner to each match and the contest. ENTER the “WATCHERS of the OMEGA” a select group that will no doubt keep watch, interject if needed, and determine a winner if in the event of a tie. This group consisting of Mike Jones, the First ever contest OFT CHAMPION Quincy Price, and COSMIC Lou Johnson did a phenomenal job covering the tournament.

ONE SHALL STAND, MANY SHALL FALL:

Many great battles in this tournament including the rematch of now TALK TIME LIVE co-host Robert A. Moore and A.C.M.G. favorite Dennis Glover.

Each battle provided a lot of critical thinking and opportunity to learn more about the characters chosen by our 16 contestant. Those who participated like the McKinnon Bros (Travis and Elisha) who said they almost lost it waiting to see if they won their match ups. As always the tournament would start at noon. The first rounds of the tournament is always interesting as the contestant know who they would be facing but do not know what characters they have chosen which creates a lot of eagerness, pressure, and anticipation. If they survive the first rounds then they can soon strategize on how to compete with the next competitors hopefully making it to the final fist round.

Many great battles in this tournament including the rematch of Nate Drowell and A.C.M.G. favorite Dennis Glover.

WHO BECAME THE WINNER OF THE OFT3?

The OFT3 was a much better contest with honorable contestants looking to have a great debate over their favorite fandom. Each contestant performed greatly as they campaigned to the voting members of A.C.M.G. as to why there chosen character team is in fact the most dominant of the 16 in the OFT. When it was all said and done there was only ONE LONE DOMINANT CHAMPION, and his name was………..

Robert Moore became the 3rd annual OFT CHAMPION (and the second contest winner) with his team of Doomsday, Superboy Prime, and Mobius.

His match up against A.C.M.G. member JAY PAT (who also competed in the OFT3 SFV Tournament) was as epic as you could get. Had Jay or Robert won the FINAL FIST ROUND he would have made legendary status with the OFT if he had the chance to win both tournaments.

However the votes were in and the member’s votes heavily favored Robert’s team.

Robert’s team was awarded the pretigious OFT3 title belts and Robert was awarded his customary OFT3 CHAMPION T-shirt along with the card battle box set courtesy of HACK and SLASH GAMES.

THE EPIC WIN IN THE OFT3 SFV EDITIONS WENT TOO……………..

The video game tournament portion of OFT was no cake walk as contestants were very much skilled and ready to compete for the bragging rights and a $100 PSN credit and a STREET FIGHTER Encyclopedia courtesy of VIEW FINDERS I.S.A.D. along with a chance to head to J1-CON 2015.

For three weeks they competing in some very hard hitting fights especially with the McKinnon Bros debuting into OFT and A.C.M.G.

At the end it came down to FINAL FIST ROUND finalist Jay Pat versus A.C.M.G. moderator and co-host of TALK TIME LIVE Andre Stokes. NOTE: Since Andre was heavily affiliated with A.C.M.G. the deal was that if he won he would give half of his PSN credit to the MVP of his choice in the SFV Tournament. There battle was hard and epic as the two went back and forth. But the question is who won? Here is the video of that final match up.

So in essense the OMEGA FIST TOURNAMENT 3 was a complete success without any form of controversy.

The big question is, HOW THE HELL DO WE TOP ALL OF THIS?!!!! Believe it on not, we have…………….

This year we have upped the anti in the biggest way we know how. Part of our tradition is that we create a custom title belt which is worn to the winning team’s characters. Well this year we not only are gonna make that happen with this new designed OFT4 title.

But for the very first time EVER in OFT history we are not only providing the winning team with a title, the WINNER of the 4th annual OFT will also have an actual title belt provided by VIEW FINDERS I.S.A.D.

This year, the OMEGA FIST TOURNAMENT just got REAL!!

For starters, obvious ones like Darkseid Vs Thanos, Galactus Vs Unicron, matches like those are off the table. Obviously everyone wants them but my list here will be matches you probably never heard of one or both competitors.

The Angry Video Game Nerd Vs “Captain N” Kevin Keene

Both are masters at video games. While one lives out their dreams of being in their favorite video games, the other lives a nightmare having to play the worse games out there. One see only positive things while the others see the negatives. And both have a relationship with The Adventures of Bayou Billy. I honestly like this idea more than Nerd Vs Critic since, well, we’ve seen Nerd Vs Critic before. And nothing will top their final battle.

“Captain S” Chad Belmont Vs “Captain SNES” Alex Williams

The Console Wars continues as the Champions of the Genesis (Mega Drive) and the SNES (Super Famicon) battle it out to determine which system was the best. Captain S is a combination of Captain N with Save by the Bell that had 10 Episodes, a crossover with the Nerd, and a continuation in comic format. Captain SNES is a Sprite Comic continuation of Captain N, taking it in directions the original never did. Considering one is crude while the other was shocked to hear such a colorful word, it would be a fun fight to see.

Red Vs Henry Stickmin

Spoiler, but next week will include a top 10 of inspired Death Battles and one of them is of this match. Red is frikkin insane when it comes to what he is capable of while Henry has done some impressive things 1/4 of the time and hilarious things the rest. This just was a fun one to see those people do and one I think would be fun to see done by Death Battle legit.

Sans Vs Kid Radd

Some of the matches I’ve seen done with Sans really makes me question how they think of things. But ultimately, Sans is a person who just so happens to know how his game mechanics work and knows how to make it work for him. So the best person I think would do the job is someone who also has to work within his game mechanics. And there is a lot of interesting questions Kid Radd brought up that Undertale also addresses. 

John Kramer Vs Fred Jones

Both are people who are obsessed with traps for the greater good. While one creates traps to teach people a lesson, the other creates traps to capture those who do crimes. This idea was inspired by a Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated episode known as “Escape from Mystery Manor” where Fred and the gang are placed in Saw like traps.

Revolver Ocelot Vs Rushuna Tendō

Metal Gear is one of the few franchises in Death Battle that has appeared in more than one match but never defeated. Even considering DBX, Metal Gear has yet to face a defeat. Rushuna is basically, as a reviewer has said, “Vash the Stampede with Boobs”. With how far-fetched MG has gotten, might as well pit them against an Anime Character and see if they can push their luck.

Space Dandy Vs Star Lord

With the movie version of Guardians of the Galaxy, personality wise these two are pretty close. But if you haven’t seen what these two can do you’ll have your mind blown with some of the stuff they were involved in. And honestly, with their personalities in mind this would be a fun match when it comes to dialogue.

Spike Spiegel Vs Revy

The most serious match when it comes to research and story. These two are impressive gunmen for their respected series. Seeing these two go in a gunfight would be brilliant to see. 

Lucy Vs Shiro

From most serious when it comes one thing to a more serious match up when it comes to content. Two sweet innocent girls that hide underneath something horrifying. This would be the most bloody Death Battle of them all as even the research part will contain more blood than even the bloodiest of Death Battles.

Toejam Vs PaRappa the Rapper

To end this list is the longest of long shots. A Death Battle request I doubt will be exactly how I want it. It would be a researched battle between these two rapping entities. But before the fight begins, it turns into a crossover with Epic Rap Battles of History as the two rap it out. The loser gets shot by Boomstick as we find out why the winner would win. That is how I would love this battle to go if it ever does happen, which I doubt.
