The way these boys have a chokehold on me isn't even funny. I had this recurring scene run through my head that since Orym seems to be more vulnerable since ep104, that maybe during a fight he flirts a little with the blue bard because the world is ending.
(Also also expect some more CR fanart coming up real soon!)
Okay I'll admit it when I started watching c3 ep104 I heard Sam's (Braiuss) voice and thought he was having throat strain from his surgery or something before remembering he's an entire voice actor, and had previously said that he was still developing the character voice and to be ready for when it changed
I got like an hour in before realizing it was intentional. I'm a bit dumb sometimes
Fun fact, Droite/Dextra happens to be the female character with the most solo wins in Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal
Now you can argue that this is her score and Rio has more wins by looking at them
But the wiki only show "on-screen" duels, however, in order to make it to the Tournament you must win and collect 5 heart pieces, and Droite manages to collect that in a single day and is able to participate
She might have even had more duels if pieces didn't fit but ultimately she won 5 to make it to Tournament so even if it's implied/off-screen, that makes a total of 5 wins with no doubt - 4 solo wins (5 because apperently she was in the winning team with Yuma in ep104 duel?? But personally I think it's a loss since she was eliminated and I will never forgive Zexal writers that made that decision).
There is a lot of "impliance" of her off-screen (her winning 5 Heart Pieces and probably having more duels to have pieces that match + she didn't lose a single Life Point, unlike someone *cough* Chris *cough*, and I doubt nobody was on the same lane as her to challenge her to a duel) but at the end of the day it still amounts to not a big achievement cause Zexal writers only gave her weak duelists to beat, same way with Rio's on-screen wins (with the exception of Lotus but she wasn't any prominent character if we think about it).
Opposite of Rio, Droite was always given weak duelists to beat off-screen, but surprisingly almost every single one of her on screen duels were with prominent/strong characters (the protagonists (Yuma and Astral), one of the main characters (Kaito - although on the coaster with no result), one of Zexal 1 main villain (Tron), two Barian Emperors (Alito with Gauche and Durbe) although I kind appreciate that they cared about Droite enough to give her competent villains in where she made them all struggle except Alito (made Alito's plans fail to attack Yuma tho so he did struggle I guess, Droite was literally acting as Yuma's Plot Armor in that entire duel 😭😭), but that's the extent of it really and it's very very disappointing.
But yeah, here's the little fun fact, Rio has the most on-screen wins while Droite is the female character with the most solo wins in Zexal with hard impliance with the 5 Heart Pieces, although not too exciting sigh.
Today I made an exciting podcast discovery - The AD Aesthete Podcast. I've gone through almost 5 episodes and am feeling truly inspired. I love hearing these design professionals talk so knowledgeably and passionately. A few quotes really spoke to me:
Quote 1:
“If you look at what’s being taught at design schools, history is not emphasized, and the history of the 20th century… emphasizes modernism, so you’re not going to learn about Elsie de Wolf, you’re not going to learn about even Rob Sean Givings (sp?), who sort of straddles traditionalism and modernism, and these are important figures. They’re fascinating, and I think it’s going to make today’s designers that much more inspired and their work richer to have a deeper grounding in the past. They’re going to have a bigger foundation on which to draw upon."
-Emily Evans Eerdman on her books as resources in Ep104: Revisiting Mario Buatta
I feel this so much. I am thankful for my education, but I feel a huge knowledge gap, and I do feel that there was a specific perspective my school was trying to push, and now that I am more experienced, I'm not sure if I agree with it, and am lamenting that loss a bit. Hence this blog.
:)
Quote 2:
“The tragedy of our day is the references have been left behind. Young people today have no references. They only begin in the middle of everything, and the future is completely unknown and a void.”
-Mitchell “Micky” Wolfson Jr. In Ep 106: Making Sense of the World Through Objects
To me, this describes so well my confusion on which direction to start anything. How is it possible to begin in the middle of everything? Yet that is how I feel on design, and a bit in life.
Quote 3:
“Look at the interiors of people you admire and learn from that and study those interiors… He would just pour over books.”
-Emily Evans Eerdmans on Maria Buatta in Ep104: Revisiting Mario Buatta
This one I love, because I too love collecting books. Even if I don't completely ready through them, I love flipping through them, and I love being around them.
I can't wait to listen to more.
p.s. I am excited to learn more about Emily Evans Eerdman. I love how well-spoken and knowledgeable she is in her interview and am excited to learn she is an author with quite a few books. The local library only has three of her books, and one is listed as "in-library use only". Perhaps I dive into inter-library loans and see what that is all about.
