The more and more I see your analysis of Flash Comic the more and more I think ‘damn these bitches Gay Gay.’ And like I thought they were kinda obsessed in the cw show, but like making villian hero pairs a little fruity is just good writing. Comics though? Like they are the most important person to each other and one literally has a wife and children half the time. Like even if they’re not gay for each other whatever they have going is debatably worse.

They are gay for each other and they're even in love and this is INSANE considering how much they hurt each other (ESPECIALLY how much Eobard hurt Barry of course), but once you start seeing the pattern and putting Eobard's actions in context it's impossible to unsee. Like every time he hurts Barry in a specific way it's for a reason. The things he says, the simple fact that he IS A SPEEDSTER at all ties into how they're each other's lightning rod. You know that if someone tries to take the speed force "forcefully" they die? Normally by growing old so fast they wither and turn to dust. Not Eobard, who harnessed the speed force centuries after Barry had been dead, who was the first strong conduit in so long, who took it by force and he should have died a horrible death but he very much did not. The speed force became his hope and his freedom, and through his many alterations of the timeline he made it so many more speedsters were born, and even managed to change fate on a molecular level by bodily bringing Barry back from the dead. He very much breathed new life into it. And then made himself the negative speed force, counterbalancing Barry's light and becoming the dark aspect of the very fabric keeping the multiverse together.

Of course their dynamic is not present in all Flash comics - it very much depends from the writer, and while Eobard's obsession towards Barry needs to be there to make the character work, the romantic subtext (or text, because sometimes it's very much in the text even if subtly) is not present. But the main canon continuity so far has been pretty consistent, and everybody say thank you Joshua Williamson especially, for consolidating it.

Okay so like....the whole deal with Eobard and the thing that a lot people seem to kind of?? Not get?? Is the fact that he's a pathological lair.

He's SO GOOD at this, he straight up got his own ass fooled into thinking he actually hates Barry. He'll say he "hates" Barry, and that he wants nothing more to than to be rid of him forever (nevermind in the next breath, he says he wants them to be equals??? Make up your mind, bro) BUT THEN he goes and tracks Barry through the timeline and proceeds to build a massive lightning rod which turns himself into the Negative Speed Force JUST to drag Barry out from the afterlife. Keyword there--Drag. Bringing Barry back to life wasn't some freak accident, Eobard deliberately dragged him out, kicking and screaming (<-- His exact words) Like...sacrificing your humanity, literally making yourself into your archnemesis's universal half to resurrect your most "hated" enemy is uuuhhhhh??? PRETTY GAY NGL And that's not the only instance either. There's lots of little things that Eobard does that shows he is surprisingly capable of being kind (like, the person who fixed Irey and Jai's whole speed aging thing? Yeah, that was Eobard), though it can be very easy to miss because he uses malicious pretense to distort them

"Oh, that's just writers inconsistency/rectonning things!" While true, there were things about Eobard that were changed/rectonned over the years, there still seems to be this same, underlying thread that ties all of Eobard's actions together, even going back as far as the Silver Age and that's love

When you rip away all the layers and get at his very core, you'll find that underneath all of that, he just wants to be loved.

That's it, and that's why he's so ruthless and unstoppable. He's willing to tear the whole universe apart just for a brief moment of happiness Eobard is a person who on some level, realizes how unlovable he is and is vehemently rebelling against that. He doesn't know how to love nor how to ask for it. All he's familiar with is his own obsessive and erratic love for Barry. This is why he's so, SO hellbent on making Barry as obsessed with him as he is with him, because that's the only form of love he knows As for him being petty, I've also gone a bit indepth in another post but I'll go over it briefly here why this is also VERY incorrect:

Yes, Eobard pushing Barry down the stairs or erasing his friends looks very random and ridiculously childish on the surface, but the second you look deeper, you'll see in actuality it's all part of a elaborate and sinister plan which he executes with terrifying precision

Eobard pushing Barry down the stairs isn't him being childish, it's to make Barry paranoid.

Eobard opening the door to let Barry's dog out isn't him being evil for the "lulz", it's to rip away all the things that Barry loves which love him back systematically until he's so lonely and desperate, like Eobard is

Every single little thing Eobard does to Barry has VERY meticulously thought out reasons behind them, most of which are known to only him. He's is SCARILY patient and extremely proficient in getting the results he wants and honestly, we don't talk about that nearly enough TLDR, Eobard wants to mold Barry into someone who would love and accept him. To make him into someone who could understand him and love him (the tragedy here being Barry already was that but it wasn't enough for Eo)

🤍: Which character is not as morally bad as everyone else seems to think? Batman. But that's too easy. So instead I'll say: Wally West.

Now, now. Hear me out.

Yes, Wally IS kind (though he had to learn that the hard way) and he does absolutely care about people, and he is compassionate (unless they're in his way....well, we'll get to that) but he also has this undeniable nasty streak.

He grew out a lot of it but he still has his moments where he's uhhh, really kind of horrible? He's judgmental, he's quick to jump to conclusions, he's selfish and he has a bad temper. He also struggles with empathy sometimes, too caught up about himself and what he's feeling to get the bigger picture. Wally definitely has good intentions, I'm definitely not doubting that, but when push comes to shove, he does has a tendency to do what he thinks is right vs what actually is right

Like, listen I'm sorry, Wally/Birdflash fans, but Wally's more than just the sunshine quippy, flirty guy. He's an asshole with some dark tendencies (remember when he turned Thad into a living statue? Y e a h) A good example of this is his relationship with Barry. Their relationship has so many layers to it and uhh, noooot all of it is positive.

They do truly love each other so, SO much. They tore through reality and time for each other. Nothing can separate them and yet...despite all of that, Wally has just...so many issues regarding Barry and how he sometimes treats Barry (honestly, you could extend this to the rest of the Flashfam. Yes, they are more emotionally adjusted and healthier compared to some, ahem other families coughtheBatfamcough but still, the way they seem to treat Barry a lot of the times is really?? Kind of rancid) Let's look at Flash War. Yes, Wally yelling at Barry was also influenced by Eobard, but I can't help but think Eobard's hypnosis wouldn't have worked as well as it did if Wally wasn't already harboring some deep-seated resentment, ya know? It's not really feasible to think Eobard created all of that anger there, but rather, he just nudged it to the surface, all of Wally's jealousy and fear regarding Barry (to be fair, he did get accidently 'eaten' by his uncle a couple times and reduced to a non-corporeal existence where no one remembered him, sooo yeah the fear is definitely justified lol) Barry for his part spent that whole arc trying to desperately reason with Wally and telling him to slow down and think things through. And how did Wally respond? By insulting him and threatening to cripple him beyond repair

"That was all just Eobard!" Mmm was it tho? I don't think so. I'm sorry, but I think to call everything Wally did in Flash War Eobard's fault seems very reductive and as well as the fact that Wally lashing out at Barry is something that seems to repeat itself a lot in the comics history.

The first time being at Barry's trial when he was being convicted of killing Eobard. Wally, who up to this point in time idolized Barry and wa his biggest fan, was now accusing him in a court of law of being incompetent and responsible for Iris's death (as bad as this was, I do give Wally a lot of slack here, he was very angry and hurt and needed someone--anyone--to use as a outlet)

Second time was during his solo run when he hallucinated Barry and Wally was attacking him, calling him a monster....yeahhh, I don't think I need to elaborate

Like...I absolutely get it, Wally was blinded by grief, he was hurting so bad, he wasn't thinking straight, I understand that. But he still threatened to hurt Barry to get his family back and if that doesn't speak volumes about his relationship to Barry, then I don't know. Because Wally is definitely possessive of the Flash mantle (which is also a whole thing in itself) and he doesn't know when Barry would suddenly re-absorb him back into the Speed Force again, Barry will always be a threat to him whether Wally likes it or not

Wally doesn't like confronting his issues either, and Barry will never call him out on it (that's his precious son boy after all) so it'll most likely just keep happening, sadly. And it's not just Barry, you can pick a lot of other characters, like Roy or Bart, who Wally also lashed out at Now, I'm not saying all of this to prove that Wally's a "bad character" or that Barry is flawless and perfect--far from it! Wally's complex, he has grey areas/layers which isn't the same as being horribly written

This doesn't negate his good traits nor vice versa. Wally's a very messy and also very human and that's perfectly fine! And I wish more people would internalize that

B, N, U and Z for the fandom ask game please 👀

B - A pairing you initially didn’t consider but someone changed your mind

Harrisco actually. Its so obvious to me now, but it was seeing the fandom edits and the like here on tumblr that made me go 'huh, I should check this ship out' and then I went and devoured basically everything for the ship on Ao3 at the time. And then started writing for the ship myself.

N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice)

Well, in general terms, I wish I saw more aro headcanons from non-aspec people. I'm starting to see more of that to some degree but when I'm in the mood for aro characters the pickings are slim in fandom even when there's a canonically aro character. Or possibly especially when there's a canonically aro character? It's kinda gotten to where every time we get a canonically aro character in a show I wind up avoiding that fandom for a while because there's an uptick of allos going 'well actually what if i ship them romantically and ignore their queer identity anyway because fandom is boring without shipping' and well how dare I want representation that isn't erased by the fandom huh? (*insert big sigh here*) And that's not even touching what happens if you happen to mention headcanoning as aro a character who is popularly headcanoned as gay/lesbian but doesn't actually have a canonical sexuality mentioned. (Looking straight at Luke Skywalker and Queen Elsa.)

I think another thing I wish I saw more of in fandom was acknowledging character faults without it turning into character bashing. It's something I try to balance out in my fics, making space for character flaws to be called out while still showing them learning and growing from that. But I see a lot of fics out there where a single mistake in canon is the basis for damning that character forever and clearly they're secretly an evil monster. Its a phenomenon that happens more in some fandoms than others, but it does pop up everywhere and can be exhausting to run into. Cobra Kai seems to suffer from character bashing a lot in particular, which made my foray into that fandom rather short lived.

In the Flash fandom in particular, I wish there were more Gideon fights back against Eobard fics. It's a fun premise to write and Gideon deserves more love than canon gives her. So I'm always excited when I find that someone else has written her as more than a passive background character. (And then maybe Ao3 would finally stop conflating tags for Gideon on the Flash and Gideon on Legends as being the same character when they aren't...)

U - 5 favorite characters from 5 different fandoms

Yuri Lowell from Tales of Vesperia - He's a vigilante trouble maker who encourages delinquency in his friend Estelle (the Princess) and helps save the world because he's a good person who just wants to protect the people he loves and the world they live in. He's snarky and probably has a jail cell in Zaphias reserved specifically for him and has canonically shoved knights into the fountain for various reasons that had Karol going O_O why??? upon hearing it recounted later. (Yuri - I forgot about that. Still hilarious. *snicker*)

Cisco Ramon from The Flash - Genius mechanical engineer whose greatest power is his imagination because what else would let him create so many amazing inventions? He's steadfast and loyal, probably the kindest person on the show. His hair is amazing - which he knows quite well - and he gets flustered when complimented on it by cute guys. (Leo - Love the hair. Cisco - *blushes*). It's amazing when oblivious show writers think they've written a straight guy, but it's actually a character who is intensely bisexual.

Atton Rand from Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords - Snarky former Sith accidentally finds atonement and joins the rebooting of the Jedi. Or rejoins the Sith depending on the path you take in the game. Are you good or evil? Atton Rand is ride or die for you either way. Also there's a chance that he'll make fun of the 'are you an angel' line from The Phantom Menace and that cracks me up.

Bastila Shan from Knights of the Old Republic - She's very much the stereotypical uptight Jedi and it's actually no real surprise when she falls to the Dark Side (briefly or not depending on your actions in the game) but she's a lot of fun when she actually lets loose. It's interesting to see her learn to relax and make friends and drop the holier than though attitude the Jedi hammered into her. She just very much wants to be a good person and protect others. And if you play with her as the love interest (default love interest for guys, mods to unlock her for the ladies) then it is absolutely hilarious to hear her say 'shut up and kiss me, you fool'.

Zelos Wilder from Tales of Symphonia - Tragic backstory? Check. Covering his crippling depression with jokes and innuendoes? Check. Struggles to open up to his friends and be honest about his feelings? Check. Triple agent causing headaches for everyone? Triple check. But if you get him the highest relationship values he demonstrates he may actually be gay or bi as he hits on Lloyd ("put on a show that'll make me fall in love" is not a straight thing for him to say to Lloyd... at all) and there a scene that will only change if he has the highest values at that point in the game - the rest of the scenes are different depending on every character, not just him.

Z - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go (prompts optional but encouraged)

Tales of Symphonia was the first game I played where player choices affected the game itself. While the game's ending doesn't really change, there are scenes in the game itself that are different based on the hidden relationship values system. I had no idea about this first time through and got Colette every time, but I learned about the hidden system as I started branching into fandom spaces and did replays with Raine, Genis, Presea, Kratos... and Zelos (sorry, Regal, I was just... uh, not super interested in you, my dude) and it was really Zelos who captivated me the most. And he's queer coded, heavily so, so I suppose it's really no surprise I adore the redheaded, gender non-conforming menace.

It was really my first real venture into fandom spaces beyond just fanfic too, so Tales of Symphonia is very near and dear to my heart for all sorts of reasons. I read a lot of fan theories about the game, but was still at a point where I was way too timid to really contribute my own too much. High school me was definitely struggling with self confidence at the time.

I've got a lot of headcanons for the game which have changed to some degree or other over time, so with the game's HD re-release happening in, like, three days, I've decided the time has come for a replay and I'm really hoping to see a bit of a fandom boom happening as new players discover this game and people who haven't played in a while rediscovering their love for it. Might be time to dust off my old fics, go on an editing spree, and start posting them on Ao3.

A: How did you come up with the title to [Wells of Hearts]? Had the idea for the title from the song War of Hearts by Ruelle. I just replaced War with Wells since it is about all the Wells with My OC.

B: Any of your stories inspired by personal experience? Not really. I do have a Riverdale character who is very similar to me as a Teen.

C: What character do you identify with most? My OC Michelle Riley from My Mughead fic or My OC Mandy Moorington from My Strange Days Fic.

D: Is there a song or a playlist to associate with [Mischief on Wings]? Yes. I have a whole Playlist for My Loki fic HERE. 

E: If you wrote a sequel to [Kings and Queen of Disaster], what would it be about? It would definitely be after Negan is in Alexandria and his relationship with My OC Suzanna and their kids in this more “normal” world,less hostile,at least when it comes to Suzanna,though Negan is trying to make amends. Also having to deal with Maggie coming back,who is her sister.

Before that though I have prequels I need to start/finish. 1 of how Suzanna and Negan met and the other is an unfinished fic when she was with Merle before the Zombie Apocalypse.  The Beginning of The End. 

F: Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.   After Reverse Flash reveals himself to Renee,that he’s actually Eobard Thawne and not Harrison Wells the man she had been dating for 2 years. “I’m still him. I saw you and I stopped running for a moment. I do love you,everything I said and felt before I meant it “

This whole scene is very eye opening and shows a side to Thawne you don’t normally see,and that sentence “I saw you and I stopped running,” is such a quote that should be on everything like “Fine,Make me your villain.” 

G: Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order? Out of order now. It’s easier to get inspiration and not feel stuck that way. Also Tarot helps.

H: How would you describe your style? Character driven. Smut and relationship based lol

it didn’t make ANY SENSE for eobard to be like “it was me who killed your brother” while killing august??? like there’s no time for any emotional reaction if you’re saying that to someone while you make them a corpse. that’s dumb as hell especially because eobard doesn’t give a shit about august so why kill his brother?? it doesn’t make SENSE, JOSH!!! it would make sense if eobard indirectly caused it and wanted to take responsibility, sure, but again--he doesn’t care about august so why kill his brother!! what was the FUCKING POINT, EOBARD. (personally, i would’ve really liked jorge’s killing to be one done in self defense. have august really confront his own morals about what makes someone a killer who deserves to be punished with death. eobard can even still be responsible indirectly!) 

the thing is like...i know he’ll be fine. this is a time travel arc for one thing but even though i don’t honestly think he’ll be back for Awhile he’s a massive fan favorite. he made it on the flash show within like three years of his creation! his design is awesome and people really like him! so he’ll be fine in a bit. especially since he can literally be in two places at once (his speed has been depleted after barry and baby wally sent him to gay baby speedster jail but like...c’mon).

i’m honestly just surprised his death didn’t come from paradox to be like “barry look...you keep fucking up people’s lives.....if you didn’t fuck around with this guy he’d be ALIVE!!” or whatever the hell. exhausting truly exhausting

usa network’s shooter! always number one tbh. bob lee swagger is one of my all-time favorite characters on earth. i think the show is very well-written and has an amazing cast. i just love everything about it. i’m gonna list these next two together: the office & parks and recreation. some of the characters themselves are p shifty, but i think both shows just bring ?? everything to life ?? and they always manage to help me de-stress when i need it. i’d like to also give a shout out to galavant! though it only had two seasons, this medieval musical sitcom was and is a gem and we did not deserve it.

did you all know i believe oliver queen is an awful texter? like, the slowest. during the day, he’s the mayor. at night, he’s shooting people with arrows. he often checks texts immediately — bc, you know, in his line of duty it’s often an emergency — but he’s bad at actually responding if it isn’t something that requires his attention straight away. 

speaking of oliver queen, do you know he has considered going back to college since becoming mayor? if he’s ever able to fully step down as green arrow, it’s definitely something he’s interested in now that he’s more disciplined than when he was younger and though he’s very equipped for what he does, he often feels lost in conversations everyone else understands bc he never received a proper higher education. (he never paid attention in school growing up either.)

yes, actually ?? not many. i’ve been sent anon hate on ?? most of my blogs ?? the worst was in the glee fandom, honestly. i had a few not-so-great experiences in groups. for the most part though i have ?? managed to avoid a lot of ugliness ??

okay, okay !! five facts. i can do this.

um… my dad, the dad i love and call dad and live with, is not my birth father !! technically speaking he hasn’t adopted me either bc ?? west virginia is dumb lol but !! i do consider him my one and only father.

i am certainly nowhere near as skilled as oliver queen, but i do have a bow that i do know how to shoot and not to toot my own horn but im ?? pretty good for an amateur archer who was never technically trained to shoot a bow.

i actually used to get bullied in school !! it was really bad for a while and my school’s vice principal wouldn’t do anything to help me out. it’s okay tho bc nowadays i fight bullies for breakfast. don’t wanna get got? don’t be a bully.

uhm… lol. i actually ?? had to tutor two of my bullies in french. i was my teacher’s favorite student bc i actually cared and learned and i helped her teach class a couple times (when she was sick/when she had to teach two lessons at the same time/etc.) and these kids were in my class, but a year behind me, and i was assigned to tutor them. and it made them really uncomfortable bc they didnt wanna be associated with a Gay but i proved to myself that i could be the bigger person and help them and tbh i think my niceness pissed them off more than the being gay.

Just watched the latest CW DC crossover event, Crisis on Earth X...

1.) My love for Snart will never die. It may wane and become dormant for a time, but damn do I love that man and always will.

2.) Whooo, Wentworth was finally able to get Snart to be pan! Alright, I know it’s not stated and you could argue he is only bi or even just gay, but it’s no secret Wentworth has the headcanon Snart is pansexual so pansexual he shall forever be to me, too. Whether it’s fully supported or not in canon is irrelevant.

3.) Joe is gonna be so sad he missed his kids getting married. Super happy for them, but sad he missed it.

4.) Thea is not gonna be happy she missed her brother’s wedding. She just woke up from a coma and still she wasn’t at Oliver’s wedding?! Way to be stubbed. I know, I know, it was a last minute thing on Felicity and Oliver’s part, but they better do a proper wedding or even reception with Thea, William and Quentin.

5.) After 6 years of buildup, this is the wedding we get for Oliver and Felicity? A last minute wedding the last five minutes on a crossover? It was very anticlimactic and felt really hollow.

6.) Why wouldn’t Barry just flash himself, Iris, Oliver and Felicity back to Star City for Oliver to marry them? That would have made more sense and been more impactful for Oliver to marry them. Barry could have flashed them back to the Arrow Lair, Oliver marries them, Felicity asks Oliver to marry her and then Dig (who’s in the lair at the time doing his thing in the background) comes forward and marries them. Same events played out, but in a different, better way.

7.) Dr. Martin Stein. Damn, was that unnecessary. The CW DC universe has got to learn that characters can leave a show without dying. They already wrote in a respectable manner for the character to leave and then killed him off anyway. Did the writers really think the heroes needed a death to rally them against the enemy? It’s Nazis. They are the bad guys and need to be defeated because they are Nazis. No other motive is necessary and it’s insulting and disrespectful that anyone thought otherwise. 

8.) It was nice to see Tommy and for Oliver to call him Thea’s other brother (I feel like that fact as mostly been brushed off and Oliver calling him Thea’s sibling to Tommy’s own face brings home the fact Thea and Tommy are siblings in a way simply saying that newfound fact after Tommy was already dead never could).

9.) Barry became fast enough to beat Zoom and even defeated the big bad Savitar speedster. I am positive it was said at one point that Barry became faster then Eobard. It doesn’t make sense to me that he wasn’t able to beat him easily. Compared to past speedsters, isn’t Eobard now small potatoes? Why then was he so much of a challenge?

10.) It bugs me that Earth X Kara and Oliver had the same hairstyles has our Kara and Oliver. I know it’s a small thing, but evil versions of you have different hairstyles. Them the rules. It’s a time honored tradition and it seems lazy and unrealistic that both Kara’s had the same hairstyle. One could have simply been longer or shorter than the other or even straight instead of her usually waves, just give me something different between the two.

11.) Oh boy, did this confirm that I have zero interest in seeing Infinity War. It’s just plain boring to have multiple fight scenes going on at once. It’s too much action, too many quick cuts, and as a result becomes a convoluted mess. The church fight wasn’t as bad because it was less people fighting and it was contained in one area instead of jumping all over the place following multiple people for short bursts of time with quick camera movements, but the climax big fight scene was a shallow mess that boils down to having too many cooks in the kitchen. It becomes too many people involved with too much action and results in you not being invested in any of the fight scenes that are rapidly shown and flipped through (like flipping quickly between channels on a TV--you see what’s happening, but absorb nothing).

12.) I really wish instead of Legends we were given a Rogues show with Leonard Snart as the main character. That man could have carried his own show easily. Or even just kept him on The Flash where he could have stayed alive and potentially gained powers along side Caitlin during Flashpoint. Bottom line, I really wanted more of him and wish he hadn’t been taken from us to go on Legends.

13. Barry and Snart hugged! Don’t care that it was Leo and not our Barry’s Snart, because it’s still a Snart and a Barry who hugged and that’s good enough for me. Awww, they hugged. So nice.

14. I wish they’d stopped doing crossovers. 2 show crossovers are one thing and done right they’re kinda cool as a one-off kind of thing, but 4 show crossovers are too much. We get it, CW, you have 4 DC shows on your network. Please stop tooting your own horn and trying to advertise all 4 shows by doing 4 show crossovers. It’s annoying and if you’re gonna keep it up at least come up with better plots and a story worthy of 2 hrs. 48. minutes of screentime. It’s your chance to tell a movie length story and you keep wasting that opportunity.

Regarding the Reference to Hartley Tonight

Listen, I am still seething about that Hartley crack in this episode, because not only was it super petty and uncalled for, it confirms something I’ve been thinking about for a long time regarding Julian’s role on the show, and it’s not a good thing.

There are not a lot of gay men in the DCTV universe. There are two the Flash can reasonably lay claim to, because while Wentworth Miller, Len’s actor, is a gay man, Len has never gotten to state his orientation on the show proper. So we have Captain David Singh, a reoccurring character who has become a lot less reoccurring as of late, and Hartley Rathaway, the Pied Piper—a former Flash rogue turned hero in the comics. The show seemed to be following this redemption arc by playing with the timeline in 2x17, making Hartley a good guy and then—

Well, they didn’t do much of anything after that. Hartley was quietly shuffled off to a reconciliation with the parents who disowned him after discovering his orientation, which was never explored, and then he vanished. And then we had Julian show up.

Look—I don’t mind if you like Julian! He has his appeal, and as a character on his own merits, he’s fine. My issue, one the show confirms I should definitely still be upset about, is that he was written as a replacement for Hartley, minus the one pretty important detail regarding sexuality. Julian is (presumed) heterosexual, with no statements about being bisexual, and has been pursuing a romantic relationship on and off with Caitlin Snow this season. Also fine, on its own merits. The problem is when we come back to the fact that his arc is very much what Hartley’s should have been, which the show FINALLY acknowledged tonight, albeit in a nasty little tongue in cheek way, like it doesn’t matter that their one gay character who had any hope of major screentime has been unceremoniously put on a bus.

Julian was a bad guy for a brief moment, an antagonist under the influence of something negative that corrupted his morality and behavior before he was redeemed and inducted into the fold of Team Flash. Hartley was a bad guy for a brief moment, an antagonist under the influence of something negative that corrupted his morality and behavior, (Eobard!Wells+his parents disowning him—remember, we’re introduced to him destroying his father’s company building for a reason), before he was redeemed and inducted into the fold of Team Flash.

The key thing here is Julian’s tie to redemption is Caitlin, and Hartley’s was tied to Cisco—and Barry to a lesser extent, since he saved him from the Time Wraith. Julian’s redemption arc can be comfortably read as a heterosexual “love redeems” storyline. But if Hartley is grateful to Cisco for giving him a second chance and they strike up a closer relationship? That’s gay, and we can’t have that.

Julian is a heterosexual replacement for Hartley. The Flash is not comfortable writing gay men that aren’t sexless, subjugated to abuse and cruelty from manipulative, abusive mentors, (Eobard was pretty clearly playing on Hartley’s need for an affection and letting him potentially construe it as romantic—not exactly a healthy representation of gay men in love), or being Tragically Disowned by their Traditional Parents, as if the concept of coming out to your family isn’t wrought with complexities and nuance the show simply does not want to handle.

So it redeemed Hartley quickly so they wouldn’t be criticized for having only one major gay man as a villain, and then shuffled him off and replaced him with someone heterosexual so they could continue his redemption arc. A straight character literally stole the plotline a gay character should have been allowed to have, and given how Julian’s redemption has been tied to romance, it’s safe to say that the idea of a possible romantic relationship Hartley might pursue during his redemption arc was part of the reason he was written off.

I’m not saying you can’t like Julian or enjoy his arc. What I am saying is, the Flash writers are aware of what they did. This isn’t just me talking out of my ass and being a bitchy queer on the internet, they literally had Cisco compare Julian to Hartley explicitly in the latest episode. Cisco DIRECTLY STATES Julian reminds him of Hartley. THEY KNOW WHAT THEY DID AND THEY DO NOT CARE.

I care. I am so sick and fucking tired of scraps. I am so sick and tired of sexless, half-assed representation. I am so fucking tired of the CW.

I'm gonna be controversial and say the CW DC verse.

the character i least understand: Hawkgirl. Like I know there’s plenty of backstory so there’s tons we don’t know about Shayera in the CW, but what magic spell overtook her that she fell in love with this Carter? Smallville Hawkman was at least kind of a soft dude with soulful eyes. Like, you had enough good judgment to shack up with a genuine good guy Ray Palmer but love of your life is a douchebag you can’t stop fighting with? Skeptical. What’s happening here?

interactions i enjoyed the most: THAT GAY SHIT on Arrow back in the day! The Lance sisters have chemistry with literally everyone. Also all of the really authentic moments with Kara and Alex. Remember when that was the most important relationship on the show? Give it back.

the character who scares me the most: Fake Wells/Eobard Thawne was a REALLY great villain and you can tell The Flash has been trying to recapture the magic ever since. I don’t believe in their power to scare me more than that, but I hope they surprise me.

the character who is mostly like me: Supergirl has some great relatable characters, Kara and Alex for certain. I relate to Kara’s idealism and Alex’s sense of protectiveness and responsibility, I feel like if I’m being really honest though I’m probably Ray. Try hard, idealist, second smartest, second most worthy.

hottest looks character: Nyssa Al Ghul is the hottest person that anyone in the CWverse has ever seen.

one thing i dislike about my fave character: I knew this shit was going to make me choose between Cat and Cisco but I’m still not prepared. I guess Cisco squeaks ahead in terms of pure joy contributed to my life. And you know what? I cannot. I wouldn’t change anything about CIsco Ramon. Not a thing.

And if you didn’t exist… well. We won’t get into that mess. So the universe — the, hah, Speed Force — sent me here. A paradox, clinging to the cracks between time. Just… waiting.” 

nothing's gonna harm you (not while i'm around) (SW; Gen, Reylo; 1,167 words)  Ben and Rey Organa are born ten years and five hundred parsecs apart, but Ben can feel it in the Force the moment she comes into being. He can feel her every second of her way home, a bright star that outshines even the familiar intensity of his parents.

we dream in the dark (for the most part) (DA; Gen; 806 words) “Will it go away?” Bethany asks, her voice quiet as a whisper.

D.C. al Coda (The Flash; Barrison;  Harrison edges closer, until Barry is close enough to touch, and reaches out to take Barry’s jaw in hand. It’s tacky and cool against his palm, from sweat, tears, or both. He tilts Barry’s chin up in a testing sort of way, willing him to open his eyes. “Barry,” he says, gently. “Look at me.”)

darling, you gotta let me know (Stranger Things; Nancy/Steve/Jonathan; 6,120 words) Jonathan’s room is messy the same way that Steve’s is. There are dirty socks and shirts and underwear strewn across the floor. Cassette tapes litter the desk like miniature landmines. There’s a notebook open on his bed, a textbook and a pencil beside it. He must have been studying when Steve knocked. 

   Binary Sunset (SW; Reylo; 1,747 words) Center stage, Rey holds herself as still as a statue. Spine straight, toes pointed, already in first position. They’ve done something to her eyelashes, softened all her hard edges, from the jut of her jaw to the point of her nose. She glitters, from her feathered bodice to her flowing skirts, a bright glint of white in the dark.He doesn’t think that anyone else has noticed that she’s trembling.

Nine fics. I don’t even want to know how many words.

Best story I wrote this year: darling, you gotta let me know. It was the first fic that I was proud of from the get go this year.

What’s your favorite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest. Ramble On. It had all of the weird dreaminess of Time In a Bottle without the Inception feel. I ended up rereading it on the plane back to Ohio and liked it so much more than I did when I was writing it.

Okay, NOW your most popular story. darling, you gotta let me know, hands down. It’s the first fic to get over a 1000 kudos since I stopped writing Teen Wolf. I mean, of the nine fics that I wrote this year pretty much every one of them is from a smaller fandom. I think the only reason this one got as popular as it did was because I published it right after Stranger Things got big and I was one of the three people who had written for the pairing. Story of mine most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: it began with stones, probably? I usually have a definite answer for this question, but this one was strange as it is. Dragon Age/In the Flesh fusion with Hawke as a zombie? Kinda weird. I don’t mind that it got a small reception, but it fits the most.

Most fun story to write: Another Love. I had a ton of fun playing with that whole concept. Barry going back in time to when Eobard was playing at being Wells was a fucking gift.

Story that could have been better? All of them? Technically? I’m still not entirely pleased with how  time in a bottle turned out, but I ramped that one up in my head for so long that I’ll probably never be satisfied with it.

Story I wrote to fix things: Pretty much all of my Flash fics were written to make something better. Ramble On and time in a bottle were both written to satisfy my need for there to be a current-timeline paradox Thawne still out there, tucked away in the speedforce, just biding his time. Hell, all of the God Complex series were written because I wanted to rewrite or add bits to an episode to suit my shipper heart.

Oddest story: it began with stones. In the Flesh. Dragon Age. Kind of weird. But my brain went, what would Jen like for her birthday? Okay, she likes Dragon Age. And she likes zombies. How can I write zombies in a way that I haven’t written them yet? Oh, I know! Hardest story to do: Okay, so it isn’t on here, but the Sabriel AU is what I’ve really been suffering through. I hit a point and wasn’t able to overcome it, which is why it still isn’t done. I’m hoping to read Goldenhand and the rest of the Like Young Gods series sometime this month and we’ll see if it inspires anything. Easiest story to write? I struggled with pretty much everything I wrote this year except for  Another Love. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that it just so happens to be the only fic I wrote before I gave up smoking.

Most mining of your own history in one story: Pretty much none of them. D.C. al Coda has a lot of my experiences with grief, but that’s about it.

Themes, or absence thereof: Pretty much ‘heroes and villains make out’. Or in the case of Hawke and Fenris... rivalmancy. Where did you publish/archive your stories? Ao3, as per usual. Story I haven’t yet written, but intend to: I have nixed pretty much all of my Teen Wolf projects. I would like to say that at some point I’ll finish the Bioshock Infinite AU and the Carmilla one, just because I have so much written of it already, but I don’t know. I do know that I want to finish the Sabriel AU and I currently have a weirdly one-sided Julian/Barry fic, a Prompto/Noctis pining fic, and several Stargate Atlantis fics that I want to finish. Oh, and maybe the Yuri on Ice soulmate AU if I can make the idea hang around long enough to get to.

Sexiest moment (excerpt): He slides the palms of his hands up her sides, ghosting them up and over her ribs, framing them, feeling where the softness of skin and muscle gives way to hard bone where her rib cage starts, how each breath she takes pushes her body more firmly into his hands. She makes a noise when he reaches her breasts, shuddering when he cups them, even through the fabric.

“Please,” she breathes, and Jonathan hesitates, unsure of what she wants.

“Here,” Steve murmurs, taking hold of Jonathan’s hands once more. He guides them to the buttons of Nancy’s blouse and pauses, waiting, as Jonathan undoes them himself, his touch sliding down Jonathan’s forearms then back up again.

Jonathan pushes the blouse from Nancy’s shoulders, watching the blush that blooms under his eyes, going from her throat clear to her navel. Her cheeks are flushed too, her eyes black and wanting.

Steve lets go of him, maybe realizing that Jonathan won’t be of much help at this moment, and his hands vanish around Nancy’s sides, quick and darting. It isn’t until he’s helping her pull her bra loose that Jonathan even realizes what he’s done.

Steve’s hands go back to his, guiding them to Nancy’s breasts. The skin is firm and supple, and so very warm. Her nipples pull tight when his hand brushes them. Steve leans close to Jonathan’s ear, and whispers, “Touch her.”

Crackiest moment (excerpt): Outside, it’s raining. The air is heavy with humidity, heat pressing down on his back like something alive. Barry walks down the street, feet bare against the wet asphalt. Thunder rumbles threateningly in the distance. A bird sings, and a street over, another joins it. Everything is green and damp. It smells real. Would a dream smell real?

Halfway down the street, a second pair of feet join his. The person they belong to is silent, doggedly following him down the road. Barry doesn’t have to turn to know who his newest phantom is.

“Are you going to sing at me too?”

“Do you want me to sing to you?” Thawne asks.

Barry glances at him, frowning unhappily. He’s wearing Wells’ face again, a familiar little half-smile playing around his lips. His suit is wet. It isn’t the suit — not the yellow one — just a regular one. Plain. Black. The fabric clings to his shoulders and his hair is dripping in his eyes. His feet are bare too, and somehow it feels wrong to see them, the fine slender bones gleaming wetly. Too intimate.

Barry swallows and looks away, but even when he concentrates, it refuses to change. Figures, that even in a dream Thawne would cause him grief. When Barry doesn’t reply, Thawne playfully hums a few bars of something vaguely familiar.

Barry looks back at him, and when Thawne sees him looking, he smiles wider and gleefully stomps his way through a puddle. Sings, “If I could save time in a bottle, the first thing that I’d like to do…”

Favorite dialogue (excerpt): ���At least,” Eobard interrupts, thoughtfully tapping his finger against his lips. Slowly, he starts to grin. “Not everything. So, Mr. Allen, I’ll ask you again. What do you want?”

The answer is written all over Barry’s face. There’s a story there, behind the pain, the grief, the hopeless lust, and it’s one that Eobard knows he’ll get to live out himself over the course of the next year. He wonders just how many times he fucked this boy before the truth came out. The boy — his Barry — already loves him. Not like this, of course, not yet, but a hero worshiping kind that he’s had since day one.

“Well?” He coaxes, eyes widening. “I’m waiting.”

Barry wets his lips convulsively and swallows, his adam’s apple working. He tugs on the cuff, halfheartedly, mouth turned downwards. He didn’t expect this. Maybe he’d expected closure. Or maybe he’d convinced himself that all he really needed was the formula. But he wants this. And Eobard’s going to make him say it.

“I want you,” he confesses unhappily, a charming pucker between his brows. His eyes dart back up, not shying away for once, to meet Eobard’s. A little bit of steel creeps into his expression again, and Eobard wants to applaud him all over again. What a beautiful creature he’s created.

“Just you,” he adds, just as quiet and unhappy, but with a dawning comprehension. “Eobard Thawne.”

A shiver crawls down his spine, dick twitching in his pants. God, it’s good to hear that name again. “Oh, Mr. Allen,” he breathes. “Say it again, won’t you?”

Favorite lines (excerpt):

Jonathan had known that they’d done this before. After all, he was sort of a witness to it. But up close it’s something else, it’s poetry in motion, the way that Nancy’s head tips back, the bead of sweat that slides down the tip of Steve’s nose, how her legs wrap around his waist, her small feet locking at the dip of Steve’s spine.

It’s beautiful, and his fingers itch for his camera, so he fumbles around beside him, stretching his arm out to his desk until he catches the strap and can tug it into his hands. He watches them through the lens of his camera for a moment before he gets up the courage to touch, tapping Steve with his foot and then gesturing with the camera, head cocked.

Can I?

Steve’s entire face transforms when he laughs, going bright with emotion. He nudges Nancy until she glances over and then she’s laughing too, and they’re both nodding.

He catches them both mid laugh, naked limbs flung around each other. And then he catches the moment that the laughter turns to something else, mouths half-parted in breathless pleasure. He catches the curve of Nancy’s breast and the freckle behind Steve’s ear, and then he waits, breathless, for the right moment.

He waits and waits, and the moment that they both go still, bodies shaking with pleasure, mouth caught on soundless moans-

He swallows, lowering the camera as it spits the picture out with a hiss, and holds it in his hand, watching them. Their eyes are closed, breathless little smiles across their faces, sweat on their brows. Steve hasn’t even pulled out of her.

Fic goals: Finish Sabriel AU. That’s it. My only other writing-related goal is to get out of this funk, write something big (which will hopefully be the Sabriel AU) and something original. Fingers crossed.

Finally finished s5 of Legends and the season was so bittersweet for me. Like, how did they forget to write sympathetic consequences? How did they look at the amount of episodes and say "Yeah, I'll spend an exuberant amount on a sympathetic b grade "villain" that'll only have 1 episode of redemption before she joins the legends." I'm flabbergasted. We didn't need all those nowhere storylines with Constantine. Why did we care about Astra? Cos she was endeared to him? Really? Besides the college ep, what about her copious screentime truly wanted us to care despite Constantine's feelings muddying up what the viewers feel? What actual development did she have this season as her OWN character? (No, her lackluster MY MOM isn't a storyline, especially when that's literally all her character motivation. (Which has been proven to work in the past, but again: lackluster.) "Oh im still mad after X amount of years in Hell at this one guy?" GO OFF QUEEN! "Oh, actually, I just want my mom back and I didn't even do all the REALLY bad things it was actually my adopted mom Lechasis. So, really, I'm okay." Um... so all that screentime was for?.. And yes, it's a common trope to make the small fry bad guy not really a BAD guy when you bring in the bigger baddie- literally see s3 ending- but they had no care in crafting that story but for talking exposition from Constantine. Astra was consistently just a kid character throwing a tantrum in a woman's body, which I'm so tired of seeing WOC being reduced to with their issues. We literally saw it with Nora last season. Why did I need a rehash with a WOC??) It was all dependent on Constantine! Every single one. Even the reason he sold his soul was because of her and that automatically means "more" for her character as a whole? Failed potential. All of it.

After Charlie's sister died there was nothing??? No "you caused my sister to die! Yeah she was a git, but she was still my sister and thats why I'm totally brainwashed after 4 months of you being gone." Like, I'm all for flat villains, and I damn sure know Atropos was one this season. We had that back in s2. But there was charisma to back up those villains! Hell, we had a few episodes predominantly on them and even if they were murdering ppl it was still interesting to watch because I knew their motivations and they were down to earth. They all didn't want to die. A known fear for most every human. They spend episodes with them bonding over that fear, and in a certain part became much like the Legends' episodes where they do much of the same. The Fates? "We need order!" Which isn't a BAD motivation, it's just one that needs far more time and care spent on working that shit up! Not some super spoken exposition by the GOOD Fate then one scene showing how far the BAD Fates would go to get the loom back before the 3 part finale.

And despite how I see Malcom and Eobard being flat- even if they had their own shows i def didn't watch to give them more dynamics- the show did a wonderful job of trying to get them on the same multidimensional level. But the Fates? The only time I felt actually connected was when Lechesis was going off in her last time on screen. I just. I don't get the writing this season. I know there was a will they, won't they return but I'm very glad s5 wasn't the season Legends ended on. I really hope s6 is better. Please tell me they don't split their 45 minute run time on 3-4 separate storylines that we're supposed to care about equally.

Good god. Why the fuck should I care about a POC forcifully hooking up with another plain ass crybaby white man that didn't serve the plot at all nor was their relationship built up by said plot? What is this? This is regardless if I think it's actually really cute. (Like, what did they think with Arrow ending they needed to have literally every single hetero hook up on the show and even one have a kid?! I loved all the Avalance moments, but it's pretty slim pickings compare to all the unnecessary make outs and time spent on literally any random relationship blossoming.)

Don't get me started on Behrad. "Oh he does drugs, isn't he so cool and suuuuch a puppy! He has ALL the same attributes Zari had but oh no, he's not gay or anything. He's just a stoner that sits around on the ship and is wildly useless. Nah, he's more of a fucking plot device to move Zari's character forward."

Why does their type obviously show for their POCs too? Why the fuck, in that lighting, is the women playing Astra and Charlie the same/ so close in skin type? Why, in every episode they were on screen together before the finale, do they have the same hair style? Why?! Why is the onscreen presence of a black woman reduced to whatever the previous black woman wore and acted like? Keep your diversity up, sure. But bring in a darker skinned woman! Bring in another POC! Don't just swap out two women that look similar and expect your audience not to notice. What the hell happened this season?

I'm just so tired. So, so tired.
