Did some fanart for hit horizon/dbh crossover fic "The Android and His Oseram" by AgaveBlue on ao3 because I reread the chapters that are out again recently and I'm currently fixating on it real hard <3 midway through my third Horizon: Zero Dawn playthrough, and recently got my hands on the Frozen Wilds DLC because Gildun is one of the most certified goobers ever (i cherish him)
Connor's design was made by 405mon; 2nd and 3rd doodles are from chapters 1 and 10 respectively

For the ask game: Artekai and Enjuk (animal figurine enthusiast shaman guy)?
ENJUK MY FRIEND ENJUK :D I love him :3
Tumblr media
I ADORE the thought of them bonding before Kai leaves the Cut over their enthusiasm about the Old World and their boundless curiosity. Even if Kai's interest at the time lies closer to machines than to animals, I think he would love to hear Enjuk's theories and help bring back those animal figurines for him c: And I actually feel like Enjuk would be one of Kai's first choices for a mentor if he ever did try to become a shaman, so that's nice ^^
I received your second ask while I was writing this one up, but no worries, you did it right!! I was actually hoping someone would ask about my OCs because I'll never get tired of talking about them, as you can see, haha ^^ But I'll do Enjuk and Aratak here too!
Tumblr media
I had never thought about it, honestly, but now that I am considering it, that sounds super sweet 👀 I like it! Now I'm actually curious about whether there any fics about them on AO3 -- aaand there are not :') So hey, if you have any thoughts or headcanons about them, feel free to send them my way ^^

Day 46
Snowchant Hunting Grounds
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rode south back toward Song’s Edge, stopping at Hollow Hall to trade my animal figurines with Enjuk. That completes the collection, and Enjuk was beyond thankful.
Tumblr media
I played each of the new light projections, taking in their ancient shapes and names. I traced familiarities in more than one. In particular, the grizzly bear. As it stood up on its back legs I saw the outline of a Frostclaw or its fiery brother standing with clawed paws and looming stature. I doubt the holograms were life-sized either. How big were these beasts? I’ve never seen an animal larger than a goat. It made me think—there were other shapes I’d seen formed from metal; wolves and Scorchers, stags and Grazers…In Brin’s poison-fuelled frenzy, he said that the new machines took their shapes from ancient things. Ancient animals? And if Hephaestus was the one that built their new, dangerous variants, how did it learn of those shapes?
I left Enjuk to his studies, but not before he rewarded me handsomely for completing his collection.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On my circuitous route south, I next wound east to stop by Longnotch. Snow started up again.
Tumblr media
I told Umnak of my defeat of the Claws Beneath. He was thankful to have his friends avenged and the lands made safer. Honestly, it was just refreshing meeting a Banuk grown old who wasn’t eager to throw himself into the path of an oncoming herd just for the thrill. I preach, but I can’t picture what I would be like at that age. Not willing to back down from the hunt, I’d wager, even when my body joins the long list of naysayers thinking me incapable.
Guess I really am practically Banuk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back along the river bank west to Song’s Edge. I told Nalutk the good news about the Fireclaws. I’ve taken out all of the Daemon’s towers too. Its scourge has ended, at least in the Cut. I don’t doubt that it will try again. There might even be other facilities like Firebreak across the lands that Hephaestus has in its sights.
Tumblr media
Next, I climbed up to Sekuli to trade the remaining pigments I’d salvaged on my travels. She mourned Ourea, a dear friend and rare dissident of tradition among the Banuk. I left the village as Sekuli ground down some of the pigments and prepared her next piece.
Tumblr media
Good hunting in the forests below Song’s Edge, collecting bones and skins to craft new satchels. Shot down a few birds in midair. Every trader seems to want Owls.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I stopped by the Carja encampment to speak to Furanhi and Hishavan about the sorry business with Ruwas. Unsurprisingly, it wasn’t Inatut’s Werak leaders that came clean about the other dead Carja soldiers, but Inatut himself—came to them in the garb of a long-dead soldier and scared the Sun Priest half to death. Furanhi was thankful for my part in finding the truth, but the ordeal certainly didn’t renew their trust in the Banuk. Their encampment will be packing up to return to the Sundom shortly. I guess this was the situation Inatut’s Werak were hoping to avoid, but a budding trade relationship isn’t worth a man’s life, no matter how profitable.
Tumblr media
I returned to Song’s Edge a couple hours after nightfall to check on Sekuli’s progress. The painting covered the huge swath of stone beneath the village’s traditional sigil. A blizzard swept its surface, on it a herd of machines swirling pale grey and spirit blue into obscure, abstract shapes, into brush strokes. Leading them was a hunter on machine back with a sweeping stroke of red hair. The subject was fairly obvious, but when I asked Sekuli she was vagueany huntress, any mission, any direction through space or time.
I’ve left my mark on the Cut, in deed and now in image. I heard mixed mutterings from the people in the village, some calling the painting peculiar but beautiful, others calling it a defacement. I’ve heard it said that Sekuli’s paintings are prophecies. Makes it all the more important to know where that painted huntress is heading.
Tumblr media
I spent my final night in the Cut—at least for now.

Hiii! For the three anonymous asks: which Horizon do you like more, Zero Dawn or Forbidden West? Whos your favourite from Horizon (can be more then one)? And is there any piece of media/series you always wanted to get into but didnt yet?
helloooo <3
ohh definitely Zero Dawn. To me it had such an incredible atmosphere and the experience of uncovering the story for the first time is incomparable. Forbidden West got a bit too sprawled imo, it lacked the feeling of adventure and discovery that hzd had. also one of my favourite things about hzd is the Humanity of it…the connection of the past with the present. Like when i think about enjuk recreations or the quest with Concrete Beach Party in frozen wilds i get choked up. IK its weird to say that HFW doesnt have that bc they went hard in direction with the tenakth in a way but it just doesnt hit in the same way emotionally. Also i think for how large HFW was, the plot was quite rushed? Anyways theres LOTS more thoughts but im already rambling lmaooo sorry for the autism chief 🫡
Favourite character is ALOY MY BABEYY apart from that Petra, obligatory Talanah mention bc im a lesbo, then in HFW Beta<3333 and Tilda and special mention goes to the shaman woman whose name i cant remember from Frozen Wilds and her relationship with CYAN. if i had a nickel for every time a middle aged woman and an AI were in love id have two nickels ANYWAYSSSS
Oh thats a good question! I still havent watched Spiderverse and i really want to. also The Last of Us. and ive always wanted to read the Sin City comics bc it was my favourite movie when i was a completely normal child

For the character ask game: Enjuk!
Ooo a great pull!
Sexuality Headcanon: Bi, bi ace maybe?
Gender Headcanon: he/him pronouns but I think Banuk in general are kinda eh whatever on gender as a whole tbh
A ship I have with said character: I had to think about it but I think Enjuk and Naltuk would be great together. Both trying to live up to their mentors/inspirations. There's something there, I think.
A BROTP: I want Enjuk and Alva to meet so bad.
A NOTP I have with said character: Don't really have any? Not strong opinions on any, anyway.
A random headcanon: A skilled butcher because he's interested in animal biology so he's done a few dissections of foxes and things.
General Opinion over said character: I really like him! I think he's a neat character and I'd like to see more of him (and Banuk in general, obviously). I think he should get a Focus.

Tag Game (Horizon)
Tagged by @cicadaknight! Thanks! This was harder than I thought it would be!
1. Ride or die ship: Ikkotah/Chekkatah! The canon pairing that never got to see the light of day.
2. Most annoying ship: Talanah/Amadis. They set it up so well in the comic, and I was buying into it! Then it had to go sideways in the game in the most annoying way. Also the character of Amadis just... I don't even know what happened between the comic and the game. I just don't know.
3. Second favorite ship: Fashav/Kotallo. They were originally my favorite ship, but I accidentally fell for Ikkotah/Chekkatah harder.
4. Favorite platonic relationship: Gildun and Aloy. I love them so much. She's so nice to him, and he's just a good guy who appreciates her smarts and adventurous spirit.
5. Underrated ship: Is it fair to say Ikkotah/Chekkatah again? I'll pick a different one though: Avad/Ersa? They're another ship who never really got to see the light of day, and I'm such a sucker for that type of dynamic they (supposedly) had.
6. Overrated ship: Pass, please. Ships are taken very seriously in this fandom.
7. One thing I would change in canon: I have a few thoughts, but I think they needed to have a better excuse for Aloy's missing HZD gear and weapons.
8. Something canon did right: The worldbuilding. From the slow realization of how we came to be in Aloy's world to the last days of the Old Ones, I thought it was all done quite well.
9. A thing I’m proud of creating for the fandom: I wrote some fics? I guess I'm more proud that I had the gumption to share them, rather than that I wrote them.
10. A character who is perfect to me: Ikkotah. I just love him.
11. Character I relate to most and why: Maybe Enjuk? A weird hermit living in a nice hut and studying animals at his leisure in the cold mountains. Sounds amazing.
12. Character(s) I hate most and why: Regalla, because she is overly violent and her motivations made no sense to me. She also orchestrated the massacre that took away Fashav and Chekkatah (and the other Marshals). Also, I've never been a fan of vengeance arcs.
13. Something I’ve learned from the fandom: It's OK to put your work out there. Even if it's a niche work, someone will find it and appreciate its existence.
14. Three tags I seek out on ao3: Not including ship tags, I go for hurt/comfort, whump, and soft.
15. A song I associate strongly with my OTP/favorite character: I'm not really sure about this. I have zero connections between music/songs and characters. I think the only exception is the track from the HFW soundtrack "The Way to Barren Light". It really makes me think of the impending Embassy and all the BS that's about to go down.

Enjuk or Your Narrowly Fixated Banuk Shaman Friend Who Isn’t Brin
Close study reveals him to be quite handsome, which is not surprising for this game.
Along with assembling the largest shaman headdress the Banuk have yet seen, Enjuk dreams of stumbling across a hidden cache of back issues of Ranger Rick.
I love Enjuk. I think the Frozen Wilds had some great npcs, Enjuk being one of the best of them.

Day 38
Hollow Hall
In the very early morning, well before light, my Focus awoke me as I’d asked it and I left Enjuk and his animals behind for the bandit encampment at Stone Yield.
Tumblr media
First, I scoped out the camp from the tree line. It was larger than any I’d infiltrated in the south, and some of the bandits had scanning devices stripped from Scrappers and Sawtooths. If I didn’t take those carrying them out first, and quickly, they’d spot me in the grass and alert the camp.
Tumblr media
I lured one of the scanners out by downing the bandit beside him, silencing him before he could alert the others.
I worked through the camp slowly, first piercing the alarm then the heads of those higher up and standing alone. I was spotted once, but the crowd that gave chance was small. I ran circles around them and they soon lost track. The others higher in the huge compound didn’t even hear their screams.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The sun rose as I climbed to the highest reaches of the camp, through a heavily fortified gate. Their leader, Ohlgrud, armoured as a machine and touting some new fire-breathing weapon, probably adapted from a Scorcher’s throat, noticed the quiet of his domain and sent his underlings out searching. I took them out without drawing attention with spear strikes and blaze explosions.
Tumblr media
There was no hiding from the big guy though. I found what cover I could, darting between it as fire sprayed near continuously from his weapon. My furs were singed pretty badly, but the layers offered good protection. Blast and hard points took him down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Soon a few roaming Banuk hunting parties and nearby traders headed back to Stone Yield to reclaim their settlement. I sought one out and claimed a prize of my own. With the stockpiles of Bluegleam in the camp, I was able to get myself a pristine striker bow. With a bit of tinkering, this thing will be downright deadly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Banuk returning to the camp were thankful for my efforts. They're actually starting to respect me, instead of balking at the gall of some outlander. This deed, more than anything, will make my claim over the Werak impossible to ignore.
I also plead fealty to the Great Opili, who'd gotten her hands on Ohlgrud's helmet and was standing around proclaiming herself leader of all bandits and future conqueror of all tribes. By her graciousness, she said she'll leave the Nora be.
Tumblr media
Set down to sleep away the hours I missed last night. I'll head back to Song's Edge this evening. If Aratak's around, I see no better time to challenge him for control of the mountain pass than the rise of tomorrow's sun.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I left Stone Yield in the afternoon. The stone seams here run with rust, staining them deep orange—it's incredible. I trekked a little further north and made the climb to harvest some more Bluegleam and clear my head for the upcoming challenge.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another blizzard started up as I made the journey back to Song's Edge.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I returned to Burgrend to ask after the hunters. They'd already returned and made their payment before heading south. He told them to find Ohtur, his old trading partner, and the man who told me the rumours about the Cut in the first place. They should be able to learn to strip a kill from him. Burgrend paid me well, which made me feel like a debt collector after all, but I could use the Bluegleam. In fact, I used it along with what I collected on the mountains by Stone Yield to buy myself a new sharpshot bow. Along with the striker bow, they make a stunning set. I'll be hitting harder from here on out. I'm sure that'll come in useful when I challenge Aratak tomorrow.
Tumblr media
I found Gildun standing around, waving his arms and muttering to himself, which I gather is his natural state. I guess we have that in common. He'd heard the rumours passed around about me, that I was proving myself a fearsome hunter, and that I wanted to learn the secret of Thunder's Drum. He wished me luck on my expedition.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I climbed up to Sekuli's perch to sell her some of the pigments I'd harvested and to watch the night. She told me of her and Ourea's friendship—that she was one of the few Banuk who understood Sekuli's art and its necessity.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My daylight sleep made me restless, but I managed to settle down eventually. I passed the prior hours swapping stories with the local hunters. My deeds have proven deafening—there's a fair amount of exaggeration going on too, but I'd best not fight it. I wonder what they'll think of me this time tomorrow.
