Steve was a little taken a back by what was happening, his mind taking a while to fully process what was going on here. "Do you not want it to?" He asks, wanting to know what she was wanting, or maybe he just - wants to know if maybe he is the problem within his own dating life ; or lack of it with the way things have been going lately. He had been a little surprised by the kiss ; but he wouldn't deny that it was nice, though it seems Chrissy may be thinking otherwise, "Did you not want to do that?"

"By yourself?" Robin asks as she looks over at Chrissy. This was already so messed up she wasn't going to let this happen she couldn't. They needed someone to distract Vecna while they killed him but it couldn't be Chrissy it just couldn't be. He'd nearly killed her once already Robin couldn't lose her girlfriend. "I'm a weird closeted lesbian with a dad that left me for a stripper and a mom who makes me pay the bills so she can buy her boyfriend shit. Come on that's prime teenage trauma. Besides you'd have a job help Dustin and Eddie think up a distraction. I just can't- please I want you somewhere that you could run to safety if you had to. it’s new in a way that’s precarious, ellie joining them for the near weekly grant-nash dinners. the first dinner, they all seemed to tiptoe around each other with polite manners and simple conversation, even harry, who as a near preteen, doesn’t always get subtly. in the few dinners since, things have relaxed, conversations grown, but there’s a stiltedness that remains that  bobby isn’t sure how to ease. it’s the same stiltedness that exists when it’s just him and ellie. maybe a little foolishly, he thought the company of harry, may, and athena would help. 

he’s gently encouraged ellie to stay for some time after the dishes are cleared away each time. the last two dinners she has, board games and denny’s switch pulling them to the living room, but it’s never been much longer than an hour or so. this time, though, it’s some movie that denny had wanted to watch. bobby doesn’t notice the late hour till after denny scampers off to bed and when he glances to his right on the couch, he notices ellie’s drifted off. he pauses, conflicted. he’s still not really sure if ellie accepted the invitation to stay out of obligation or out of genuine want; or, maybe, the popcorn bobby made the same way he did when ellie was just a kid. 

he should wake her up, let her make the decision herself, but with the late hour, she might as well just stay here than navigate city traffic. bobby pulls a blanket from the hall closet, drapes it over ellie, and then bends down to press a soft kiss to her forehead. for a moment, it reminds him of ellie as just a kid, how he’d tuck her into bed the nights he wasn’t on shift. then the reality of everything seizes his heart, reminds him of how much he’s missed. how much he has to make up for.

       she  had  been  quiet  during  the  bus  ride  home,  lost  in  her  thoughts.  layla  knew  the  chances  that  will  would  ever  look  at  her  as  more  than  a  friend  were  slim  to  none.  after  all,  they  had  known  each  other  for  years  now  and  he  still  treated  her  like  a  sister.  but  it  was  different  now,  seeing  him  with  gwen.  then  again,  jealousy  was  the  only  feeling  tightening  her  heart.  layla  just  missed  him,  plain  and  simple.  she  missed  spending  time  with  her  favorite  person  in  the  world,  before  he  became  a  hero  while  she  was  left  behind  still  a  sidekick.  it  was  not  as  though  they  did  not  see  each  other,  they  did.  they  were  doing  it  right  now,  walking  home  together.  but  something  felt  off.  and  the  fact  will  couldn’t  tell  why  she  was  upset?  it  just  felt  like  proof.

      glossy  lips  parted  slightly  as  she  looked  at  him,  just  before  she  pressed  them  together  again.  was  it  selfish  for  layla  to  tell  him  she  missed  him?  will  was  happy  and  he  had  new  friends  and  that  shouldn’t  make  her  sad.  the  girl  felt  as  though  she  should  just...  be  happy  for  him.  which  was  why  she  dropped  her  gaze,  letting  out  a  sigh  that  made  the  plants  allow  them  falter.  shrugging  quietly,  the  redhead  held  onto  her  bag  straps.  ❝  i  am  just  stressed  about  some  assignments,  nothing  you  should  worry  about.  ❞
