Okay so, I'm gonna try to do my best to do this- like professionally ig? Because I know saying "Dude I just fuckin go in" does not help anyone at all ever. I spent the last couple drawings I did over analyzing how I draw just for you guys.

And so you get the full explanation, I'm going to do a screenshot edit for this. It's basically how I draw in the style but just with a few extra steps to show how I've accidentally fooled people into thinking shots exist in the show when- they don't.

We're gonna use this shot of Carol, because the redesigns for Rad and Enid aren't done yet, and I like her posing.

This is the brush I use, at size 1-2px depending on the line thickness, canvas size, etc. If you're unsure how thick yours should be, try drawing over one of the lines on another layer/in another colour, does it match the original lineart pretty closely? Then you're golden. (Please note this brush kind of sucks with the bucket tool sometimes, especially with dark colours, so I recognize the lasso fill tool)

Now, shape language is very important in ok ko, (it's one of the reasons I love it so much) and every character is made up of very distinct shapes for themselves. If you can draw squares and circles, you're basically golden.

Here's a sort of- quick breakdown of the parts. Sometimes your squares might be more rounded, or your ovals a little more square, but this is generally how I break it down.

Now let's turn the opacity down on our original shot, add a layer and use our shape language to put Laserblast on top

Okay, not bad, but the issue now is he's still built like Carol. But that's okay, now that we know generally how the pose is laid out, we can adjust it to fit his proportions. If you're unsure of what those proportions are, try taking a shot of the character and drawing the shapes over them. THIS IS NOT TRACING. Breaking art down into shapes is vital to style studies and you're only using the original to understand how things are broken down.

Bam! Much better! And you can still see the squares, circles, and triangles he's made up of. Now we're gonna hide the scene beneath our sketch and lower our sketch opacity. If you have a reflection sheet of the character you wanna draw, that's probably already helped you with proportions, but it'll also be important to stay on model. (However, keep in mind, the model is not the Bible for this show's art style, and feel free to break away if it helps exaggerate the emotion or action you want to show.

In my case, my reference image is "Date Night Laserblast" for how he styles his hair, and his outfit.

Anyway, you may have noticed his property got adjusted a little between the pose sketch and this one, that's totally normal. Sometimes you don't realize something looks off until after you're basically done sketching, and so you adjust the pose and sizes as necessary. Lasso tool is a digital artists best friend guys. (Admittedly normally I do all of this in one sketch layer, so if that works better for you guys too go for it, but I wanted to easily illustrate the differences for ya) Alright, now with everything but your final sketch hidden, turn the opacity down once more, and do your lineart!

Hell yeah! Next we're gonna colour in our flats. Now in most cases that'll just be- the normal colours of the character, but in this scene there's lighting changes. In most cases you can probably find an image to colour pick from of the character in a similar light, but if not you're just gonna have to use some colour theory. Which- there's way better tutorials on online, I cannot explain colour theory despite it being the part of art I've actually spent time studying.

Don't worry if the flat colours look a little funky on their own. Now we add a clipping mask to our flats, and add the highlights (most scenes/drawings won't require this, because they don't have fancy lighting) in this case like the shading, it's going to lean blue.

Now, you're gonna make a copy of this alone, if you're using ibis "Add from canvas" is what I use, or "Add layer from folder" if you have everything in a folder. Then unhide your background and cover up anything you don't want seen (I can't show that along because I've only got 10 images to explain this) I always do it on a separate layer just too erase any mistakes easier. It's basically a bunch of colour picking and continuing the background.

If you're not trying to make a screenshot edit, you don't need to do this next step. All it's for is to help create that imperfect look a real snip from the show would have. You wouldn't expect the lines to be perfect and crisp when you zoom in.

Finally, take your copy of your character, in this case LB, and use the transform tool, drag the top right corner down until he's about half size (make sure you still have your original version/layers visible as well. Then click okay before transforming the tool again until they line up properly. DO NOT JUST UNDO YOUR TF OR DRAG IT IN AND OUT. It will look blurry, we want this. Turn that layer down to about 20-25% opacity. (your lines should look clean zoomed out, but slightly fuzzy when you zoom in) You should be left with something like this!

As for more general tips, don't be afraid to look at lots of references. The wiki practically knows my fingerprints from how often I look up shots to reference and my gallery is full of images I've saved to help me. Second, practice makes perfect. If you look back even to my earlier posts from this year, you can see a lot of improvements in how I draw the show's style. And there are still characters I want to get better at drawing. (The kids like Fink and K.O. especially)

And finally, as silly as it might seem, don't focus too hard on it! Ian said that one of the major design philosophies of this show was to make it look like doodles. Keep your hands loose and have fun making it look silly! Using and leaning into that philosophy has helped me improve drawing these characters so much. Even during serious-looking scenes, I'm not worried if the shot will look exactly a certain way, but treat it like a quick angsty sketch in my notebook. Don't worry about making it look perfect because the show isn't meant to look perfect.

Was thinking about that OK KO game that didn’t get super popular and thought (awhile ago, albeit) “what if ok ko was a fighting game” so ofc I had to get on that. Don’t mind the clunky sprites, they were from before I even had tumblr so my art changed a bit. But the one of Ven and Box together I just finished today-

KO -

Special move 1: “Inner Rage”: Unleashes T.K.O for a limited amount of time to zip across the stage trampling over enemies in a ball (almost like a sonic spin dash) form

Special Move 2: “Bodega’s best boy”: K.O temporarily stuns enemies with his cuteness (Certain Enemies are Immune, I.e Boxman.)

Enid -

Special Move 1: “Icy heart”: The stage freezes over causing all enemies to freeze- then shatter, causing a large amount of damage but depleting Enid’s energy

Special Move 2: “Stealth Log”: Enid disappears, turning into a log- causing the enemy to be distracted and for her to sneak up behind them.

Rad -

Special Move 1: “Box Bash”: Using his Beam, Rad causes a hoarde of Bodega stock Boxes to fall from the sky, causing damage.

Special Move 2: “Van the Radical”: Rad’s Van drives across the screen, running over every enemy in its way (in the line of its path), though leaves a trail of exhaust, causing damage to both parties

Gar -

Special Move 1: “El-Bow grease”: Gar slams down into all enemies on the stage after jumping up, stuck in the floor by the elbow for a limited time.

Special Move 2: “Sandwich Smash”: two halves of a sub-sandwich come in on the top and bottom half of the screen and slam in on the enemy- stunning them momentarily and causing damage.

Carol:

Special Move 1: “Motherly Love”: Heals self and anyone in party or duo by giving a hug (if solo, hugs self.)

Special Move 2: “Dojo Lesson”: Carol flings wooden boards and other objects at the enemy, bringing them to the floor and causing a great amount of the damage, but depleting half energy.

Villians -

Darrel -

Special Move 1: “Blaster Canon”: Darrel transforms his arm into a canon and rips it off, setting up the canon in the middle of the stage- launches self aiming energy balls at enemies. Melee move temporarily unavailable

Special Move 2: “Dress-Up Party”: Darrel gathers up a bunch of costumes and combines them into one ball- throwing them at the enemy, binding them in the costume-straight-jacket, trapping the enemy.

Shannon -

Special Move 1: “Buzz saw”: Shannon transforms into a giant buzzsaw, setting a path across the stage- zipping from one end of the stage to the other, causing damage into all enemies in path

Special Move 2: “Cut-throat Chatter”: Shannon insults the enemy, sending the words literally flying their way, causing damage. Shannon ends up tongue tied and stunned for a moment.

Raymond -

Special Move 1: “Time out”: Raymond grabs the enemy and rolls them up into a ball, sends them flying with a drop-kick- though depletes half of current energy.

Special Move 2: “Fashion extraordinaire”: Raymond Suddenly changes into a fashionable outfit, paparazzi flood in and trample the enemy from the opposite side of the screen, causing damage.

Boxman -

Special Move 1: “CHILDREN!!”: Boxman calls for his children, causing two Boxmore boxes to drop into the scene with random bots inside that fight until destroyed (though they have a low HP)

Special Move 2: “Desk Dash”: Boxman uses his remote to call in his desk, he hops on top of it and it unleashes a bomb attack down onto the stage

Professor Venomous -

Special Move 1: “Plague Professor”: Venomous snaps on a gas mask, and tosses a virus-grenade, it explodes and infects enemies, stunning them and causing mild damage (Does extra damage to Rad)

Special Move 2: “Lab Rat”: Venomous lets Fink out of a metal cage, causing a short rampage- Fink will jump at and attack enemies- though will go for Venomous if he is not out of the way.

OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes is set in the retro-futuristic year of 201X. The series follows the titular character, K.O., and his efforts to become the world's greatest hero while working at Gar's Bodega, a hero supply shop in Lakewood Plaza Turbo. [wiki]

Red Action came from the future year of 301X. She come back to the year 201X, the present in the series, due to her breaking the Prism Crystal in the future, an important crystal her former group, Hue Troop, uses to prevent disasters. She has since made amends with her old troop, but decided to stay in this year nonetheless. She is Enid's girlfriend.

Her right leg below the knee, is artificial as her original limb was amputated due to a undisclosed injury she got in the future. [wiki]

In one of the episodes the showed Enid in a Little Witch Academia uniform. Which is a lil Easter egg that Ian Jones-Quartey and his partner Rebecca Sugar had a lil cameo in Little Witch Academia.

OK KO, Let's be Heroes!//KO x Older Sibling!Reader

A/N: I can't believe this hasn't been written before omg. I had the thought of an older sibling reader to KO rolling around in my head while watching the series and was shocked to find no fanfics with the premise. So I did it myself.

NOTE: The Reader's powers are basically Portgas D. Ace's from One Piece. If you aren't familiar, I've attached a few gifs to give you an idea of what it's like.

So I can’t think of a realistic way for Reader to be a biological older sibling to KO considering the timeline of what happened.

Soooooooo…You took on the role of KO’s older sibling, even though you’re not related by blood.

[Insert tragic backstory here] and Carol had found you when you were a young teenager wandering about without a home to go to. When she found that out about you, she couldn’t in good conscience leave you alone, so she…adopted you basically. There wasn’t any paperwork involved so you just unofficially become her second child.

Carol was SHOOK when she found out about your superpower (and that’s putting it lightly, she was freaking out--).

It happened when she failed to light the fire underneath her stove a few days after you came to live with her and KO. Not thinking much about it, you held your finger up and lit the fire yourself. When she turned and saw the small fire burning on the tip of your finger she freaked tf out thinking you were hurt. 

A one-hour explanation later, she was now on board as to what power you have: You’re made out of fire and can set other things on fire just by looking at them. You even showed her some of your moves the next day faaaaar away from anything flammable. 

Carol encouraged you to become a hero and with her help you eventually did. You became a decently high-ranking hero at a young age, clocking in at level 6. 

There were a LOT of companies trying and failing to recruit you, but you chose to stay home with Carol and KO (no Carol is NOT crying-).

KO was quite young when you were “adopted,” being around 3 or 4 at the time. Because of that, he always assumed that you were his older sibling by blood and it wasn’t until one day between ages 6 to 11 that Carol told him the truth.

My boy was shocked, but it didn’t change anything between your dynamic. 

In fact, you became even more of an inspiration to him on his path to becoming a hero!

You helped Carol a lot at the fitness dojo until Carol got KO a job at Gar’s, to which Carol also had you hired to keep an eye on KO. Not that she didn’t trust him, she just knew that he could get in over his head sometimes and wanted to have someone be there to protect him. 

Talking about Gar’s, Rad and Enid absolutely ADORE you. You’re the unofficial manager appointed by them truly because you are a few levels higher than them. 

At first, when they heard they were getting two new coworkers, they didn’t think much of it. You and KO seemed nice enough so they didn’t mind having you around. 

It’s not until the Darell robot for the day comes busting into the plaza that their opinion changes. 

Just ask KO is about to get absolutely decked by Darell, you zoomed onto the scene in a blaze of fire and punched the bot, setting it on fire while also hitting it with enough force to send it back to Boxmore with KO nestled into your other arm. 

“Nobody ever touched my little brother.” You muttered under your breath while wrapping KO into your arms further to soothe him. You walk past a stunned Rad and Enid as you enter the store and get back to work.

That day, Rad and Enid also became your younger siblings. Pestering you with questions like “How did you get so strong?” and “Where did you get that power from?” Considering you’re a year or two older and much stronger you embraced the title with honor.

You actually became a little bit of a local celebrity after working at Gar’s for a while. People, locals really, would occasionally come in a ask to take a picture with you. Abashed, you said yes every time because you really couldn’t say no. Real Magic Skeleton even has a picture of you on his site with a small bio (You blushed so hard when you found out you thought you were gonna explode).

Speaking of which, KO LOVES to flaunt you around and hype you up, much to your embarrassment. He says stuff like, “Look at my cool amazingly strong older sibling!” and “My older sibling could beat up your older sibling!” 

KO means well, but he embarrasses the shit out of you.

MAD PROTECTIVE. If Carol is protective then you are on another level entirely. If someone even says something mean about KO it’s on sight. People learned very quickly that you are KO’s older sibling and that you will not hesitate to DIE to protect him (KO prays that it never comes to that).

I could see a rude customer coming in and harassing KO about Cob knows what and you just come up behind them and punch them out of the store. When Mr. Gar confronted you about it, you held your ground and stated proudly what you had done. He was honestly surprised at your resolve and didn’t punish you at all, saying “You should stick up for yourself and the ones you love.”

Lord Boxman even became a little weary about attacking the plaza knowing that you worked there and you are a pretty strong defender. That doesn’t stop him, of course, but he does strategize to combat you better.

Professor Venomous encourages Boxman to capture you and “convert” you to villainy since your power is something that could be very useful to them. You’ve heard people throughout your life make comments about how “villainous” your power is, but you never let it get to your head since you know who you are and that’s all that matters. 

Taking. Naps. Together. Seriously, if KO ever doses off during one of his shifts, you’re quick to follow him. You’ll scoop him up into your arms and sit down somewhere in the corner and fall asleep with him. Rad and Enid think it’s absolutely adorable and have several pictures of you two.

Rad and Enid will even join your cuddle pile in the break room when time permits (or when they make the time themselves).

KO will even occasionally crawl into your bed at home and sleep with you there. He says that your bed is more comfortable than his, but you really know he gets lonely sometimes.

Piggyback rides! KO loves to lounge on your shoulders and back and will often hang off of you as he does with Rad. 

You’re also just used to the feeling of holding/carrying KO that it sometimes feels weird when you haven’t for a while.

When you met TKO for the first time you kinda panicked like many of the other plaza members. It was an especially stressful time in your life (and probably much more for Carol).

TKO wasn’t that fond of you either which made everything 10x harder to deal with. He didn’t actively dislike you, it was more like he wanted nothing to do with you.

Once KO came out of that initial swap between himself and TKO, you didn’t really think much about it. 

When he mentioned some “Shadowy Figure” though you immediately began to do as much research as you could on the guy, you were determined to beat the crap out of this guy (if not kill him-).

Listening to KO cry into your and Carol’s arms blabbering about, “I’m so sorry!” and “I don’t know what he did to me!” You honestly thought this man had touched KO (I know I’m not the only one…right??). It took a lot of coaxing, but you eventually managed to understand what happened when KO told you the full story.

It’s not until Dendy begins to monitor KO and TKO that you start to give his alter much thought. You encourage KO to pursue research into his darker ego, assuming he’s okay with it of course, and offer to be someone he can talk to about it if he isn’t comfortable talking to anyone else about it. 

During some of these talks, you open up about yourself a bit to KO to make him feel better and let him know that the negative emotions he feels are normal. 

During some of the more intimate conversations, you tell him how you used to hurt people and even kill at times before Carol took you in.

KO doesn’t believe you at first. How could someone so kind and loving have killed in their life? You use that to help you explain that good people do bad things sometimes, but that doesn’t make them a bad person. 

You teach him that TKO isn’t something that he should be ashamed of and cage up in the back of his mind, but could instead be someone to rely on in times of need.

He feels a lot better after you tell him all of this.

Hugging and holding KO close to you during nights when he feels really bad about himself. Where he doubts his ability to become a good hero and to be able to harness TKO’s powers. 

You’d rock him back in forth in his bed while quietly soothing him over his crying. He asked you not to tell Mommy and you promised him that he had your word.

I could honestly see Reader lying to cover up KO’s tracks. Like KO is caught doing something he absolutely should not be doing and instead of immediately admitting fault, you would come up with some realistic yet unfeasible lie that only works about 50% of the time.

KO loves to spar with you! He learned most of his physical skills from you, stuff like punching, jumping, kicking, and all that fun stuff. You’ve never used your fire powers against him though.

There was one incident where Boxmore accidentally found out what your weakness is, that being water. A Shannon bot had thrown you into the little kiddie pool Rad and Enid had set up before the attack started.

When you jumped out of the pool soaking wet and unable to start a fire, the stupid sibling trio laughed and mocked you. Enid was quick to come in with a kick to Raymond’s head and you soon found your footing.

Boxmore learned that day not to underestimate you as even without your powers you’re still a physically strong hero.

However, it would seem that Boxman and Professor Venomous stored that data about you since some of the bots they send are equipped with water guns. You’ve gotten pretty good at dodging them, so that’s kinda cool.

You do remember one time after KO had gotten a handle over TKO where you had been drenched with a bucket of water and right as you were about to get socked by Raymond, KO had pushed you out of the way and dodged the punch himself.

You had never been more proud of KO than in that moment and you made that known to him after the fight. You ran up to him and cradled him in your arms talking about how proud you were and that he was becoming such a fine hero (that last one got him to blush a little).

Rad and Enid definitely took a picture of this and then proceeded to print out a copy and put it in the break room.

When you and KO found out that your mom was dating Mr. Gar, you both were a little unsure about how you felt. When Rad and Enid asked about it, they asked the two of you together and then asked you separately. 

Seeing as you’re the older sibling they thought that you would have had a better idea of how you feel about the whole arrangement and were bummed out when they realized that you really didn’t know how you felt. 

After the date you four hosted for Carol and Mr. Gar, both you and KO see how happy Mr. Gar makes your mom and decide that if she’s happy then you’re happy as well.

KO is honestly one of the best younger brothers you could ever ask for. He’s kind and selfless and wants to help others when he can. And in return, you are the best older sibling that KO could ever ask for.

Sorry the format looks off in some places, Tumblr just makes booty juice decisions like limiting the character limit per block to 4096 words...

Once again another old drawing from 2022 and this time it’s Scratch from The Ghost And Molly McGee who is also one of my favorite characters in the show and this was a quick draw and didn’t took me that much to draw lol, in fact Dana Snyder voicing the character was also the reason why I wanted to give the show a chance when it was still a new show during 2021, he previously voiced Master Shake from Aqua Teen Hunger Force in Adult Swim, I immediately recognized his voice and give me another reason to watch the show along with Ashly Burch as Molly because she previously voiced Enid in OK KO, Scratch is a really funny ghost and also quite relatable at times especially and he also has a lot of really funny moments especially with Molly but I especially love seeing Scratch and Libby as a duo the most was always really interesting to watch, anyways enjoye another old drawing of everyone’s favorite blue ghost! 🩵🩵🩵

I got bit by the oc bug SURPRISE SURPRISE but!!!!!!! Demon Slayer OC [: volcano hashira bcos why the hell not!! More belowowowow

Youngest daughter of a retired samurai and a skilled onna-musha; her family was believed to be killed by old rivals, but in reality, it was Doma who sadistically killed them all for her father's questioning of the demon's cult. Her father was a member of the shizoku class who had become an avid businessman after the samurai were abolished, allowing their family to continue living in relative luxury. In secret he continued to train his children in the ways of the samurai- all but his eldest son, who became a Buddhist monk. As a business man and one used to being an enforcer of rule in the community, he took notice to a certain odd collection of individuals and began investigating. He had no idea this congregation was the Eternal Paradise Faith led by the Upper Moon Two, Doma. And for this investigation and criticism?

Doma killed them all, and Noriko was only saved because her brother (the monk) came home to visit and managed to distract Doma enough that she could run away; he died because of his sacrifice. She still managed to kill a few lesser demons on her way away from her home, thanks to the onna-musha training her mother instilled in her. Noriko was found by Amane Ubuyashiki, who was on her way to see Noriko's family to investigate if her mother's bloodline was connected to Kokushibo/Michikatsu Tsugikuni the way the Tokito family's was. Of course, it was too late, but Amane took Noriko back to the Ubayashiki mansion.

Wields her mother's naginata as her main weapon, though she carries her father's katana and a small ax on a chain with a weight at the end, just like Gyomei's weapon

Very reserved and put together on the outside thanks to her strict and tedious upbringing but inwardly very angry, aggressive, and determined; she is bigger built than most women around her and is incredibly strong thanks to her family's continuation of samurai tradition, training her to help protect the household even from a young age. She is incredibly intelligent as well because of this!

Upon joining the demon slayers she was taken under Gyomei's wing intending for her to become his tsuguko as she showed a lot of promise with stone breathing. However she never quite got there, instead taking her solid base in stone breathing and meshing it with the explosive and flashy attacks of flame and sound breathing to create VOLCANO BREATHING. She was of kinoto rank (20) when her breathing style developed, and it was around this time she maanged to achieve killing 50 demons as well as facing off with a lower moon; this, along with her unique breathing style, propelled her to hashira status. With her naginata she uses strong stances to focus on defense while luring enemies in closer with a seemingly slow offense, only to build up energy for fast, powerful, explosive strikes and swings that are incredibly effective.

Closest with Gyomei, Rengoku, and Uzui, as well as Mitsuri due to bonding over being buff, busty women who don't fit in!! Sees Genya as a younger brother and is incredibly protective of him, making her dislike Sanemi (though she is sympathetic to why he is like that). She thinks she, Shinobu, and Giyuu are too much alike, but enjoys their company well enough. Isn't overly fond of Obanai or Muichiro the way she is of some of the others, but respects them deeply.

Noriko uses her mother's surname, as to not draw any attention by carrying a retired/reformed samurai's name around.

She is also forced to retire after [something I haven't decided yet] happens to her and she and Tengen and Hinatsuru and Suma and Makio all get married and live (RIP to the tragedies of Infinty Castle, couldn't be miss Riko and her polycule)
