Fated To Feel
Part 1, Part 3
Enhypen OT7 x afab! reader
Wordcount ≈ 4k.
Warnings: talk of depression, angst, manipulation, cheating, slight sexual innuendo, sleep deprivation, panic attack, I think that’s it, let me know if I’ve missed anything.
Summary: After (Y/n) moved away her soulmate marks began fading while Enhypen was being punished for their actions by experiencing constant itchiness from their marks. Will (Y/n) find someone else? Will Enhypen realize their mistake? Can they be reunited? And most importantly, can (Y/n) forgive Enhypen for everything they said and did?
Because of popular demand, here is part 2 of Fated No More. Thank you for all the support on part 1, I hope you will like this one too. Fated No More is one of my personal favorites so I’m very happy to see so much positive response to the story.
I jump around a bit in the timeline so it might be a little confusing but I hope it makes sense.
There will be a third part as well, but I felt like this was getting quite long so I decided to split it up. So this turned into a mini-series, hope you like it!
Perhaps fate was punishing them for the way they acted toward (Y/n), the truth might never be known, but the thing that is certain is that they are fated no more.
Third Person POV
As Enhypen left (Y/n) in the HYBE building they didn’t care about the possible consequences that would follow as they all were too in love with (name). As they arrived home, they told (name) of what had happened and that (Y/n) said she would leave them alone from now on. (name) was very satisfied with this, she knew Enhypen wouldn’t leave her now that they had rejected their true soulmate. (name) had found her true soulmate not too long after Jake mistook her for their soulmate, at first she was going to leave them but then she realized that if she stayed with Enhypen she could get money from them and she wouldn’t have to work. And with their packed schedule, she could spend plenty of time with her true soulmate while the boys were working. Her true soulmate agreed to the plan as they figured some extra easy money wouldn’t hurt. (name) always feared that the boys would leave her if they found their true soulmate but now she had proof that they wouldn’t, that they couldn’t. All she had to do now was make sure they didn’t find out about her true soulmate whom she said she had rejected for them.
It was a shortlived victory though, as only a month after rejecting (Y/n), Sunghoon had left their practice earlier than planned due to feeling a bit unwell, and as he came home, he was expecting to find (name) in front of the TV watching the drama she was currently obsessed with, only to find her in bed with another man. (name) was freaking out and didn’t know how to handle the situation, screaming at her soulmate to get out. Sunghoon quickly called the others telling them they needed to come home ASAP. (name) told them parts of the truth, leaving out the bits of her only really being with them for the money. All of the boys told her to pack her things and leave. They couldn’t believe that she would hurt them like that. Soon Enhypen found themselves thinking over everything that happened and they began mourning the loss of (Y/n). Their true soulmate.
“We really hurt her, what we did was worse than what (name) did to us,” Jay said as they all sat on the floor with tears running down their cheeks. The more they thought of (Y/n) the more their soulmate marks itched and burned. “We were idiots, it was obvious (name) was only using us. She never struggled being away from us even when we had to go overseas without her. Even if she wasn’t our soulmate she should have hurt a little if she truly loved us,” Jungwon said before he tried wiping away his tears. “Do you think we can get (Y/n) back?” “I don’t know Riki, She left HYBE and we don’t have any way of contacting her,” Sunoo answered. “Not to even mention the low possibility of her forgiving us for everything we said and did,” Heesung added. “Please Fate, give us a second chance, so we can at least apologize to (Y/n),” Jake said, soon after the seven boys got up from the floor and began cleaning their entire apartment. Throwing away anything that reminded them of (name), once they were done they realized that half the things they owned reminded them of her so they disregarded it all. They made a promise to themselves and to fate that if they got the chance to see (Y/n) again, they would apologize and do everything they could to make it up to her, even if that meant spending the rest of their lives saying sorry.
* Time skip *
(Y/n)’s POV
It’s been two years since I left South Korea and left my soulmates behind. Every once in a while I stand in front of my mirror searching for the marks, hoping to find a new one, praying that fate had blessed me with a second chance soulmate. When I do this I only ever feel a stabbing pain in my heart, reminding me of everything Enhypen said to me. Their words tainted my world into a darkness I can’t even describe. I began believing that they had done the right thing, that I wasn’t worthy of being loved. Moa however reminded me constantly that I was worthy of love and that it was the boys who weren’t because of what they had done. I often wondered if everything would have been different had I met them first. Was that the only reason they chose her, (name), over me? Would they have loved me if she had never met them? Or were they just incapable of loving me?
“(Y/n)? Hello? Earth to (Y/n)?” “Huh? Oh, sorry, Moa, what’s up?” “You’re thinking of them again, aren’t you?” I let out a sigh before covering my face with one of my hands. “Yeah, I try not to but every once in a while, my mind wanders back to them,” “I get it, or, I don’t, but I know that I think of my soulmate so many times each day it’s normal to do so, even more so for you because of what happened,” “I know, I just keep wondering over what would have happened had I met them before (name),” “Things would probably be very different but we will never know because this is the reality we live in, I know it hurts, but maybe you can find someone who has lost their soulmate and find love with that person,” “Yeah, maybe, I don’t know, let’s talk about something else, I’m already depressed don’t need to make it worse,” “Mm, right, that’s why I originally came in here, we’ve been invited to Jaehyun’s wedding!” “No way, Jaehyun’s getting married?” “Yeah, can you believe that he’s getting married before me? He used to be such a douchebag, and now he’s like everyone’s dream guy,” “I guess he grew up, maybe pouring that smoothie over his head when he insulted you helped him realize that he should change,” “Ooh, I remember when you did that, he was so angry with you first but then he was following you like a lost puppy, being all ‘(Y/n), my sweetie,’ he totally fell in love with you,” “I guess he did. When’s the wedding? And where?” “It’s in six months, and it’s in Seoul. Do you feel okay with going? If not, we’ll just send him a really good gift,” “No, let’s go. I miss Seoul, we have so many friends there and I don’t want to let Enhypen keep me away from them,” “You go girl! YES! I’ll respond right away that we’re coming! Jae’s going to be so happy!” “Are you bringing Kyle too?” “Of course, I’m bringing Kyle, I have to show him off haha,” “Okay, if you respond to the invite I’ll look up a good hotel we can stay in and book two rooms, one for me and one for you and your lovely soulmate,” “Cheer up, (Y/n)! Who knows? Maybe you’ll find someone at the wedding!” “Yeah, maybe,” I gave Moa a small smile, the slight burn in my heart spiking up at the thought of love.
Sometimes living with Moa and her soulmate Kyle was difficult as I knew I could never have what they have. I remember the fight Moa had with Kyle when they first met and he didn’t understand why I had to live with Moa, thus meaning, he now had to live with me. Moa said that either he accepts it or he can walk away because I mean so much more to her than he ever could. I told Moa that she didn’t have to do that and that I would be fine moving to an apartment close by, but Moa didn’t want that, worried I would fall deeper into my depression if she wasn’t by my side. Now months later, Kyle and I are good friends and he understands the situation after hearing what happened to me. Seeing the way they act around each other and hearing them talk of one another, hurts because I wish I could experience that, but I know I never can, not truly, even if I would find someone some time. Of course, I’m so happy Moa found her soulmate and that he treats her well, but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little bit jealous. I took a deep breath and went to my computer to find a good hotel, you can never book those things too early. Especially knowing Jaehyun, the dude knows everyone and their grandma so the hotels are about to be overbooked. I was really looking forward to seeing Jaehyun again, after the smoothie incident we became really good friends (even if he had feelings for me) and we stayed friends through everything. I never told him who my soulmates were, all I said was that it didn’t work out and fate or destiny made a mistake. He was sad to see Moa and I move away but we kept in contact and he was very supportive of our choice. I decided to send him a text even if Moa answered the invites, I wanted to assure him that I would come and it wasn’t Moa giving him false hope. *Hey Jae, it’s been a while. Congratulations on the engagement! Of course, I am coming, how could I not? I just might have to throw another smoothie at you if you don’t behave. Looking forward to seeing you,* In his response he let me know how happy he was that I would come and so was his soulmate. I took another deep breath, let’s go back to Seoul where my whole world collapsed 2 years ago.
Third Person POV (same time as (Y/n) received the wedding invite)
After coming home from a concert, the Enhypen boys were met with seven cute envelopes in their mailbox. They opened them to find invites to their good friend Jaehyun’s wedding. “Wah! Jaehyun is getting married! That’s crazy!” “We have to go! It’s in six months so if we tell our manager tomorrow we can make sure our schedule stays free for that day,” “It’s going to be so much fun!” The seven boys were ecstatic and couldn’t wait as they hadn’t seen their friend in a while. No one said it, but they all thought the same thing: This could have been us and (Y/n) if only we hadn’t messed up. They still lived with the constant itchiness of their soulmate marks and every once in a while, their marks would burn, a reminder of their actions. Sometimes they wondered if (Y/n) also lived with this discomfort or if it truly was a punishment that only affected them. They hoped (Y/n) didn’t have to go through it as they felt they had hurt her enough as it was.
* 6 months later, the day before the wedding *
(Y/n)’s POV
Moa, Kyle, and I had been flying for a couple of hours but we finally arrived in South Korea. My back felt quite sore from the flight and I was very tired so I couldn’t wait to get to the hotel and just lay down in bed and sleep. “WAHH! We’re finally back!” Moa was loud and cheery as ever, I swear, the girl can’t be sad. “Come on, let’s get a taxi to the hotel. I’m dying to get some sleep,” Moa just smiled and nodded, Kyle offered to carry my bag for me saying ‘You look like you’re gonna lay down on the floor and sleep here if we don’t get going,’ I mean I definitely look like a zombie, the last few days have been nerve-wrecking as I was a bit anxious of going back here so I haven’t gotten that much sleep. Finally, we arrived at the hotel, not a second too early. We checked in and got our separate rooms, a smaller one for me and a larger one for the couple. “I’ll see you tomorrow morning, good night,” “Night night, (Y/n)! Don’t forget, breakfast at 8 tomorrow, we have to leave at 2 pm to get to the ceremony in time,” “I won’t, night night,” I went inside, changed into my pajamas, and then laid down in the bed, I remember setting an alarm on my phone but after that, I was out like a light.
Third Person POV
The Enhypen members didn’t have to stay at a hotel as the wedding was held close enough for them to just head to their apartment once the wedding and party were over. The morning of the wedding, they all woke up and began preparing everything they needed. They were meeting up with Jaehyun a little earlier than most guests as Jaehyun had asked them to sing a song or two so they were heading over for a soundcheck and to check when they were supposed to sing. “Jaehyun! My man! Congratulations!” “Heesung! Guys! Nice to see you, it’s been too long since last,” The friends caught up a little for a while but at the same time helped Jaehyun around the venue. Jaehyun was a bit nervous but Enhypen assured him that Yujin wouldn’t get cold feet. “Thank you guys for doing this! Yujin is such a fan, she’s going to freak out seeing you here and then you sing a song I wrote for her,” “No worries man, the song you wrote is so good. It’s an honor being allowed to sing it,” And so they continued with the preparations before Enhypen headed into a room where they could change clothes and get ready before the rest of the guests arrived.
(Y/n)’s POV
I woke up in time, changed into some comfortable clothes, and went outside my room to meet up with Moa and Kyle, once we located one another we went down to eat breakfast. Once we had finished eating we went back to our separate rooms to shower and get ready for the wedding, Kyle called and booked a taxi for us that would arrive at 1.45 pm. The dress I had chosen was a beautiful (insert color of choice) long sleeve, it was the type of dress I had dreamt of wearing to a homecoming or something like this as a child. I almost dared say I felt like a Dinsey princess in it. I fixed my hair and did some makeup. I hadn’t shown Moa my dress because I wanted it to be a surprise, I knew she would be proud of me for slowly going back to the me I was before the rejection. We decided to meet down by the taxi so when the time came I went down to the entrance and saw that Moa and Kyle had made it out before me. When Moa turned to the doors of the hotel and saw me, her jaw dropped before she quite literally shook with how happy she was and how much she was squealing. “(Y/n)! OMG, YOU LOOK SO GOOD I THINK I’M IN LOVE WITH YOU!” “Thanks, Moa, you look really beautiful, That pink looks so good on you, oh, and on you too Kyle,” “Thank you, you look really good (Y/n), mostly because you’re finally smiling,” I hadn’t realized how much I was genuinely smiling until Kyle pointed it out to me. “Thanks,” And then we got in the taxi, heading over to the wedding venue.
About an hour later we arrived at the wedding which was beautifully decorated even on the outside. This definitely fits the theme of the invite. Because of the long sleeves on my dress, I didn’t notice my soulmate marks slightly becoming more visible once again, alerting me of my soulmates’ presences. We walked inside and were greeted by flowers and a large room packed with people. I couldn’t even guess how many people were attending but from how packed the room was I guess closer to 300 or perhaps even more. I wasn’t kidding when I said that Jaehyun knows everyone and their grandma. While we had a little look around we ended up running into Jaehyun who enveloped all three of us in a hug expressing his happiness over us attending, The meeting was short-lived though as he had to rush to look at the final details. After a couple of minutes, we found three seats beside each other on the groom’s side of the venue and sat down, waiting for the ceremony to begin.
All too soon the beautiful ceremony itself was over and it was time to begin the festive part of it with dinner and dancing all through the night. As the first dance was to begin, Jaehyun took a microphone and turned toward his bride, explaining that he had prepared a very special surprise just for her. He had written a song for her and some good friends of his would sing it while Jaehyun and Yujin shared their first dance. Everyone cheered as the lights were turned off, some footsteps and some clothes ruffling was all that was heard before the lights turned on. In the spotlight in the middle of the dance floor were Jaehyun and Yujin, they looked so beautiful. A slow but powerful ballad began playing as the couple began dancing, the voices singing were very beautiful, and they seemed almost familiar. The couple dancing was so beautiful together that I couldn’t move my eyes from them, the love between them was overflowing in the venue. The song that Jaehyun had written brought tears to my eyes as it described the fairy tale love he had found with Yujin. The song soon ended and everyone clapped as the couple kissed, shortly after the lights were turned back on and my eyes traveled around the venue searching for the owners of the voices that had just sung the love song. The second my eyes found the seven boys holding a mic each, my heart stopped beating, and my breath seemed to be caught in my throat.
Enhypen. No, this couldn’t be happening. Why were they here? I thought I was hallucinating so I looked down at my hands, pulling up the sleeves of my dress to reveal the initials P.J. and S.J. slowly becoming stronger and also more and more of a vibrant golden glow. Moa who had been standing beside must have seen and heard my reaction as I heard her gasp in surprise before she hugged me. “It’s okay, they probably haven’t seen you. Do you want to leave? We can go right now if you want to,” “I can’t breathe,” I felt like my chest was closing up. My whole body was trembling, my knees were getting weak. I was about to have a panic attack, that would surely just attract attention toward us. “Kyle, help me get her out of here now. Fast but without anyone noticing,” Kyle didn’t question it, instead he put an arm around me and began walking with me toward the doors. A few people asked us if we were okay, I tried to find my voice to say something but I couldn’t, fortunately, Kyle answered that I had eaten a little too much and needed some fresh air. With that, everyone moved out of our way. I was praying, hoping, that Enhypen hadn’t seen me nor felt me being there. If they had, they would probably scream at me again, thinking I was stalking them or something. How could I know that we had common friends? As soon as we got outside I managed to take a deep breath, my body was still trembling badly and my breathing was irregular but at least better than what it was inside the venue. “I’ll call a taxi, don’t worry, everything is okay,” “(Y/n), wait,”
Third person POV
As Jaeyun took the microphone to tell Yujin about the song he had written, the Enhypen members slowly got up from their table and picked up their mics. As the lights were shut off, they walked over to their position. They gave it their all, singing as if the words of the song would somehow reach (Y/n). They imagined (Y/n) standing in front of them, hearing them singing the heartfelt words as an apology to her. They were all wearing suits so their soulmate marks were all covered, so they, just like (Y/n), hadn’t noticed the glowing initials either. Once the song was over and the lights were turned back on, Sunoo had an inkling feeling to look up and toward the left, as he did, he felt his heartbeat picking up, without even seeing her face he knew it was (Y/n). He noticed that she seemed to feel sick and that an unknown man was wrapping his arm around her, leading her away. “Guys, (Y/n) is here, but she’s leaving,” The others looked up and frantically looked around, searching for the girl. “Come on, we have to go after her, This might be our only chance to apologize,” Sunghoon said and the others agreed, and so they hurried to get out of the venue. A lot of people were hindering them as they wanted to speak to the singers but Enhypen only said that they unfortunately didn’t have the time to speak right now. They rushed out of the doors to find the unknown man embracing (Y/n) in a hug. Their hearts sank. Had she found someone else?
“(Y/n)! Wait!” Niki couldn’t help but shout out, hoping the girl wouldn’t leave without speaking to them. (Y/n) looked toward them after Niki’s exclamation, taking note of them being alone, (name) wasn’t with them. Perhaps, she was still inside. “(Y/n), do you want us to go further away?” Kyle asked, (Y/n) was frozen. She looked at Enhypen, their faces were filled with regret and sadness, they looked very different from how they looked the last time she saw them. They looked softer now, perhaps because now their eyes weren’t filled with disgust as they looked at her. “(Y/n)?” Kyle tried again, but yet again, he was left without a response. “(Y/n), please, can we talk?” Jay tried asking, hoping she would say yes.

Special Words
Pairing: Jungwon x reader
Word count: 401
Summary: every person is born with a mark on their arm that says the first words they'll hear their soulmate say. You happen to overhear those special words during a movie at the theater.
"Y/n, get up!" Your sister, Chaewon, said. "It's almost time to go see the movie."
You pick up your phone and check the time, realizing that she's right. "All right, let me finish this really quick." Chaewon walked out of the room. You finish typing on the laptop on your desk before closing it and getting up. You looked at the mark on your arm, wondering when you would meet your soulmate. "I'm ready now!"
You and Chaewon left to walk to the theater. As the two of you walked to the building, you overheard a group of guys talking excitedly about the movie they were going to see. Once you got inside, you decided to get snacks.
"Can we get two popcorn buckets please?" You heard Chaewon say while you were looking around. After paying, the person at the snack bar gave her the popcorn and you both went to find your seats for the movie.
About halfway through the movie, you started hearing two guys whispering behind you. "Ni-ki, Taki, stop talking." You hear a man behind you say. The two boys were only quiet for about a minute before they began whispering again, giggling about whatever they were talking about.
"I will sew both of your mouths shut if you don't stop talking" you heard a second man say.
"What?" You whisper yelled, looking at the person behind you in shock. "What did you say?"
"I was telling my friends to be quiet during the movie." He looked at you with a questioning look. "Why?"
"Maybe because those words are permanently on my arm because of you!" You glare at him, and you can see him realizing what you said.
"That wasn't the way I saw that being said to be honest." He smiled, showing his dimples and letting out a small chuckle. "Let's talk more once the movie is over."
This time, it was your turn to smile. You shook his hand and said, "my name is y/n."
You nodded in agreement and turned around to finish watching the movie. When the credits began playing, you walked out with Chaewon and looked around for the man you found out was your soulmate. "Hey," he said, and you turned around, "fancy seeing you here." He smiled again, revealing his dimples for a second time. "My name is Jungwon, by the way." He held out his hand

Eternal Bond
pairing : riki x fem reader ୨ৎ content / warning(s) : fluff, enemies/rivals to lovers, past lovers, soulmate au, riki calls you his sweet dove, highschool au ୨ৎ word count : 842 ・ archive
synopsis. in a world where everyone has soulmates and gets memories of their past lives when they turn seventeen, you’re completely shocked to find out that riki—your biggest rival since elementary school—was actually your soulmate in your past life. back then, you were his kind, devoted fiancée, a noblewoman engaged to a rebellious prince, and the two of you were totally in love. but in this life, all you and riki do is compete, pushing each other harder every year. ᐢ..ᐢ lev notes : thank you for requesting this ⭐ anon <3 i had a lot of fun making this! hopefully you like it. my requests are very much open so feel free to send one <3
you had braced yourself for it since your birthday months ago, but nothing could have prepared you for the shock of remembering your past-life memories. the truth that your past self had been engaged to him, to riki, was something you could barely wrap your head around. he, the rebellious fourth prince, and you, the kind and loyal fiancée. it seemed unreal—especially since, in this life, riki was your biggest rival, the person you’d been trading snide remarks with since elementary school, and someone you were constantly trying to outdo.
but the memories didn’t lie. he was your soulmate. that fact settled into your mind, slowly softening the sharp edges of your rivalry with him. it was confusing, but no one else understood why you’d suddenly started holding back in arguments or why you’d bite your tongue when he’d tease you in class. it felt silly at times, but the warmth from your past-life connection began to weave into your present self, and no matter how much you tried, you couldn’t hide the change.
riki wasn’t an idiot. of course he'd noticed. you could feel his gaze on you more often, watching you closely whenever your paths crossed. there was a spark of suspicion behind his gaze, as if he was waiting for you to slip up. as much as you feared he’d figure it out, there was also a secret thrilling hope that he would. so when december 9th rolled around—his seventeenth birthday—you couldn’t help but wonder if he’d remember his past-life connection as quickly as you had.
the day came, and you tried your best to avoid him, slipping through the halls and sneaking into class a few minutes late. for the morning, it worked. but you knew that wouldn’t last.
lunchtime came, and you slipped aawy from class into the library, hoping to find a quiet spot where you could just be alone for a while. you settled into a corner near the back, buried in a book, trying to ignore the anxiety stirring inside you. but then you heard footsteps, and when you looked up, there he was. riki.
he stood by the table, arms crossed, a glint of determination in his eyes. you froze. “you can’t hide in here,” he said, his voice casual, but you could tell something was off. he wasn’t leaving.
riki walked toward you, and with each step, your heart raced. before you could react, he slid into the chair across from you, leaning in slightly.
“care to explain yourself?” he asked, his tone sharper than usual.
you blinked, feigning innocence. “explain what?”
he raised an eyebrow, his gaze intense. “you know exactly what i mean. we’re soulmates,” he whispered, low and filled with frustration. “and i find out now of all times? you could’ve told me earlier.”
your heart hammered as you nervously glanced around the library, thankful it was mostly empty. “i didn’t know how you’d react,” you said quietly, looking down at your hands.
riki let out a frustrated sigh, the tension rising. his eyes were no longer playful. “so you thought you’d just pretend nothing had changed? watch me get all confused about why you’ve been acting… different lately?” his voice dropped, and his gaze softened for just a moment. “what, you thought i wouldn’t notice?”
the silence between you both was thick, charged with so much unspoken emotion. you avoided his gaze, biting your lip. “i didn’t want to make things weird… especially with how we’ve been.”
for a moment, he didn’t say anything, his eyes studying you carefully. and then—bam!
he leaned in suddenly, placing a hand on your wrist, his touch sparking a reaction deep inside you. you jolted slightly, memories flooding back in waves, overwhelming you.
he tilted his head with a teasing grin. “you talk too much, you know that?”
before you could protest, riki closed the gap between you, his lips brushing yours in a gentle kiss, almost hesitant but filled with all the weight of your shared past. it was as though time had folded in on itself, and for a second it was like the two of you had never been apart.
when he pulled back, his smile was faint yet triumphant. “my sweet dove. you’re still as stubborn as ever huh?”
you stared at him wide-eyed, your heart racing. his words, that pet name—it felt so familiar, so right and yet so foreign in this life. “you… remember everything?”
riki nodded, a smirk tugging at his lips, though it was softer than usual. “every last bit.” he leaned back, crossing his arms. “now that we’ve got that sorted, what are we going to do about this little rivalry of ours?”
you blinked, a laugh comes out of you unexpectedly. “maybe we can take a break from it… just this once.”
he chuckled, raising an eyebrow. “i’ll consider it… for my dove.”
and for the first time in this life, you felt something stronger than rivalry, something that bridged the gap between your past and present—a feeling that maybe, just maybe, love could make its way through everything.

I Make You (You Make Me): Chapter One
Summary: After auditioning for a backup dancer position for the idol group Enhypen, you do the polite thing and shake everyone's hands before you leave. But when you make contact with one of the members, your soul mark burns Warnings: This chapter is literally all fluff
Series Masterlist
The HYBE building was absolutely daunting. The sun reflected off the glass and metal, making it difficult to look at. You took a deep breath, swallowing your nerves and wiping your sweaty palms on your joggers before stepping into the cool air of the lobby. You approached the woman typing furiously behind the front desk, her glasses sitting on the edge of her nose.
“Hello, I’m looking for the Enhypen auditions?” You politely greeted the older woman.
“Photo ID and audition invitation.” She didn’t even look up from her computer to address you, causing your anxiety to spike again. You handed her the requested documents with shaky hands. Her sharp eyes scanned over your ID and letter, then to a list of names taped to her desk. She returned your documents and provided a visitor tag. “Take the elevator to the right. The studio is on the third level, number 307.”
You mumbled a ‘thank you’ and followed her directions to the dance studio. You were among 20 candidates for the backup dancer position for the swiftly approaching comeback. You stood in line and focused solely on keeping your breathing steady. It was your turn after what felt like an eternity of waiting (it was only 15 minutes). You stood in the center of the room facing four men sitting in chairs and holding clipboards. You recognized two of them as members of Enhypen, although you couldn’t remember their names. The other two must be the lead choreographer and manager. They were the names on the audition invite.
“Hello, I am Y/N L/N, and I will be performing my own choreography to Mirage by Lindsey Stirling,” you introduced yourself with a bow. They nodded and began the track, which they had queued up along with the other candidates’ songs. You took your position and emptied your mind, just like you did before every competition. You put everything you had into the dance. You panted as you relaxed from your final position.
“You said you made your own choreography?” One of the Enhypen members asked with a tilt of his head. Shit, what was his name? Ricky? Ricky sounded almost right. You nodded.
“Yes, this was for my final competition right before I graduated from university.”
“Did you go to school for dance?” The oldest of the four men chimed in. You had to assume he was the manager.
“No, actually, I have a teaching degree. I was planning to teach Korean and English literature. But I did competitive dance for a little under ten years,” you explained, fidgeting with your fingers. You weren’t expecting to be asked any questions.
“So what made you apply for this position?” The other Enhypen member furrowed his eyebrows.
“To be honest, I haven’t had much luck finding a school willing to hire me, since I’m only 22 and a foreigner,” you sighed. “I saw the ad online, and figured there was no harm in applying.”
“If you don’t mind my asking, are those bands on your fingers your soul mark?” The manager pointed to your hands. You looked down at the bands of solid black circling the base of seven of your fingers.
“Yes, they are. And no, I’m not sure if it means I have seven soulmates or if they’re all tied to one,” you answered the question you knew would be the follow-up. The manager nodded, making a note on the paper in front of him.
“Thank you for coming in, we will be in touch to let you know if we have decided to pick you for the position,” the manager stated with a final nod in your direction. You thanked and shook the hands of the manager and choreographer. When your hand connected with the Enhypen member to the choreographer’s right, the band on your left pinky burned. You yelped, yanking your hand from the young man’s grip to clutch your mark. You rubbed your pinky to soothe the sting, your motions coming to a stop when the black band slowly morphed to a pale purple.
“Ni-ki, are you okay?” You looked up to him staring at everything in the room with his jaw dropped.
“Oh, my god, I’m so sorry! Did I hurt you?” Ni-ki dropped his eyes back to you. He suddenly held your face with both hands to pull you closer to his face, causing you to squeak and flush a light pink. He seemed to be analyzing your features, flicking his gaze over your hair, your cheeks, and your lips before landing on your eyes.
“Ni-ki, what on earth has gotten into you?” The manager asked incredulously.
“Her eyes are blue,” he muttered while running a thumb across the skin under your eyes.
“Oh… oh! You got colors! You found your soulmate,” the other member grinned and shook the youngest by his shoulders. Ni-ki rolled his eyes and reluctantly released you from his grip. You shook yourself out of your daze.
“Sorry, I’m probably holding up the auditions. I’ll wait outside until everything is finished, then we can talk.” You bowed clumsily and stepped back in the hallway, missing the curious look from the cat-eyed member and the longing from Ni-ki. They knew you were right, though, so they didn’t protest. You sat on the floor a few doors down from the audition studio. There were still seven people that still needed to go, so you pulled out your phone to google the Enhypen members. You identified the other member in the studio as the leader, Jungwon. You fell down a rabbit hole of interviews and fan compilations in an attempt to memorize all of their names and faces.
“Y/N?” You jumped at the sudden intrusion. Jungwon had poked his head out of the studio to let you know they were done, but he was now stifling his laughter.
“You guys are done already?” You checked the time and sure enough, almost a half hour had passed. You followed Jungwon back into the studio, sitting on the floor in a small triangle with the idols while their manager, Minjun, observed from his chair. You and Ni-ki immediately dove into a quiet conversation, each of you wanting to learn more about your soulmate. Jungwon looked at you with that same curious expression as when you left after your audition.
“I have something I want to test,” he interrupted. You turned to him, eyebrows raised. He hesitated for a split second before gently intertwining your hands. You winced when you felt the burning on your soul mark again, this time on your right pointer finger. The three of you watched as the band changed from black to red.
“How come yours is a different color than mine?” Ni-ki questioned. You shrugged, unsure of the answer yourself.
“I don’t know. I guess I’ll figure it out over time.” You looked up from your newly colored mark to Jungwon, who was typing quickly on his phone. “How did you know?”
“Your emotions,” he started and dropped his phone into his lap to return his attention to you. “I have the shared emotions soulmark. I felt how nervous you’ve been today, especially when you introduced yourself and your song. I had a feeling even before you gave Ni-ki colors.”
“I assume you told the other boys,” Minjun quipped. Jungwon nodded. You were very happy you decided to look them up earlier. “I’ll be back, then. I need to gather some paperwork for Y/N to fill out.”
“You think the others are my soulmates, too?” You pondered after the door closed behind Minjun.
“It’s definitely possible. I’ve heard a couple other groups share a soulmate,” Jungwon noted. “ITZY and P1Harmony have gone public with their soulmates. TXT, Xikers, and Aespa are still private with theirs, but they’ve told some other idol groups.”
“Oh wow, I didn’t know so many–” You were cut off by the door slamming open. You clutched a hand over your heart, shouting a Jesus fucking Christ in English.
“AH!!” Jake beamed and pointed at you. He turned in circles, almost too excited to pick one thing to look at.
“Show her, dumbass!” Someone teased from the hallway. Jake turned and moved closer to you then lifted part of his shirt. Across his left hip bone, in bold black letters, was the phrase “Jesus fucking Christ”.
“I am so sorry!” You hid your face in your hands. “Ugh, why did I curse?! I wish I said something nicer.”
“It’s okay,” Jake chuckled and wedged his way between you and Jungwon. “It’s easy enough to cover, plus it’s funny as hell.” The other four members filed into the studio. Sunoo froze by the door to stare at you.
“Alright!” You clapped to get everyone’s attention (which was already on you anyway). “My soulmark is physical, so I need everyone to touch my hand or something. Oh, and tell me what your soulmarks are.” The first to step up was Heeseung. He pulled the collar of his shirt down to reveal your initials printed underneath his collarbone. Him and Jake turned the bands on your left middle and pointer fingers into a rosy pink.
“I have a red string connecting my thumb to your chest,” Sunghoon grinned and ran the thumb with his string across your cheekbone. The band on your right middle finger turned the same shade of red as Jungwon’s. The burning was intense, but you needed to confirm all of the bonds.
“You glow for me.” Sunoo was still entranced by the pulsing gold light surrounding your body. He simply patted your hair before sitting between Sunghoon and Ni-ki. Your left ring finger’s band changed to pale purple. The last to approach was Jay, who sat right in front of you.
“I don’t know what my soulmark is,” he admitted. You nodded and held your hands out to him. He took them into his own, changing the band on your right ring finger red. His smile dropped ever so slightly. Nothing changed for him.
“Nothing?” Jay shook his head and you smiled sadly. “I’m sorry…”
“It’s not your fault.” He started to pull his hands away, but paused when he looked at your palms. They were a deep, forest green. Jay’s eyebrows pinched together in concentration. He ran his fingers down your forearm, a trail of green following his touch.
“What do the different colors mean?” Jake peeked over Jay’s shoulder, who was still running his fingers across any patch of exposed skin in fascination, smiling so hard his eyes were almost closed.
“I’m not really sure,” you shrugged. Sunghoon tapped his chin. You could practically see the cogs turning in his head.
“Maybe it shows different types of bonds,” he started. “Not all soul bonds are the same, after all.”
“That’s true,” you agreed. “I’ll probably figure out what the colors mean as I get to know all of you.” The door opened again and Minjun stepped back into the studio, tablet in hand.
“So?” The elder probed, one eyebrow arched. You held up your hands to show off your now-colorful fingers. “I can’t say I’m surprised. For now, I just need you to sign a standard NDA. I have to discuss more specifics with the managers of the other groups that share a soulmate.” Minjun handed you the tablet. You barely skimmed the agreement before signing and dating the form.
“Is this going to affect my chances of getting the backup dancer position?” You asked as you handed the tablet back to the manager.
“That is part of the specifics I need to ask about. If you’d like to spend time together, please do so here or at their dorms until we do a security sweep of your home.” Minjun tucked the tablet under his arm and left the studio once more.
“Let’s go to the dorms. We can order food and get to know each other better,” Jungwon suggested and stood to grab his bag.
“Dude, we just left them to come here!” Jake groaned. “Why didn’t you just bring her to us?”
“You know Minjun wouldn’t let us without confirming that she is actually everyone’s soulmate.” Jungwon held the door open and gestured to the hallway. You followed the boys as they made their way back to the dorms.

kim sunoo : the soulmate trope
"can i help you with something? or are you just stalking me?" "i- uh, i- you're my soulmate!"
summary : in a world where everyone is given a necklace that connects to their soulmates, you’re getting fed up with not finding yours, until you are forced to take another bus route for once and bump into a pink-haired stranger who just so happens to have a necklace that is similar to yours. if only he would wear his necklace outside of his sweater you’d be able to confirm.
word count : 9,000 :)
genre : very short/mild smut! fluff!
☆read the other volumes?
if you had a dollar for every time that you felt like an outcast in life, you'd be a billionaire.
throughout your entire life, you have always been different. to the point where it was pretty noticeable to everyone around you- to everyone that saw you even for the first time.
your school years have always been difficult due to your unfortunate outcastedness. but part of you expected it to be. if you weren't like everyone else in a social setting then of course you would stick out- whether that be in a positive or negative way.
you could handle being the 'misfit' at school. sure, it annoyed you on certain days- like when you were younger and everyone in your class continued to tell you that they would 'play with you tomorrow' at recess- but when it became tomorrow, they would say the same thing to you.
in your high school years, it got a little worse when actual attraction started to set into your puberty minds, and the male vs female gaze started to partake in the majority of everyone's self decisions.
it got a little exasperating when you felt isolated while being with your own family, especially in the world you live in.
when a child is born into your special world, they're immediately taken to the head counsel to be christened. they're prayed over for multiple minutes as president catiana speaks to the emperors above, her hand becoming possessed by them as she draws out the form that they have deemed as their destined shape that connects them to their soulmate.
the shape, whatever that may be, is immediately taken to the lapidarist to create the shape into a rock form before welding it onto a chain necklace for the new child to wear for their entire life. at some point in that child's life, they will find another person that bears the other half of the shape of their necklace- meaning that they have found their soulmate.
no one except for president catiana knows who or what the emperors are and why they have given everyone in your world a present that connects them to their soulmate, but no one really questions it. the tradition of soulmate necklaces is an ancient tradition that runs as far as anyone has looked back on.
you've heard multiple soulmate stories- from in history class, some from your friends, and some from your parents. you've heard that sometimes a person never finds their soulmate- leaving them to hopefully find another person who hasn't found theirs to date or marry- or to die alone; unloved.
your parents had found their soulmates- each other- when they were fifteen during their first year of high school. they've been inseparable since and have given you a valuable, role model-like relationship to look up to as you grew up.
when you were younger you had hoped to find your soulmate around the same age as your parents did. you remember being excited on your first day of high school- hoping to find your soulmate as quickly as your parents did in their first years.
when your first year of high school ended and you were still single- alone- you were a bit disappointed but told yourself to not give up as you still had three more years of high school left to find your soulmate at a young age.
during your second year of high school, multiple students in your school had found their soulmates- linking their necklaces for fun in front of everyone in the cafeteria to show off. the rounds of gasps and awes that took place your second year because of the number of soulmate couples being completed were cute at first- but as they continued into your third year of high school you couldn't help but feel annoyed and frustrated- jealous even.
soon, now in your last year of high school, when you have started to accept that you were an outcast and still had no sign of your soulmate- you were pissed off.
it seemed like you couldn't catch a break from all the happy, soulmate couples.
at school, they were filling the cafeteria, couples basically sitting on top of each other in pure love and happiness making out and laughing while you sat alone in the corner with your disgusting cafeteria food.
then, when you went home, your parents were constantly openly loving each other, holding hands, kissing, years old inside jokes that they only understood- something that you once found cute was now just pure exhausting to watch and listen to.
you didn't like your necklace when you were younger- the despise feeling you have for it following you along as you got into your teenage years.
your necklace's main component was a gold circle with a simple face on it that seemed to be smiling from ear to ear- if it had ears. on the right side of the circle were around ten triangles that seemed like spikes at first when you were first given it when you were six years old.
you remember holding the necklace in your hand when your parents gifted it to you on your birthday. you couldn't help but feel so attached to the necklace, not expecting yours to look so abstract and cheery looking.
"this is mine?" you asked your parents who were looking at you so anxiously, excited to see your first reaction to being a step closer to finding your soulmate.
your parents nodded, "do you want me to help put it on?" your mother asked, standing up when you agreed. you watched your parents' excited expressions in the mirror reflection as your mom fastened the chain around your neck. "there." your mother stood back.
your small fingers brushed against the necklace for the first time on your neck, "what even is it?" you asked with a tilt of your head, still not believing that it was your necklace.
"we think it's a sun." your dad spoke with a smile, making eye contact with you in the mirror. "or- at least half of a sun."
"your soulmate probably has the other side of the spikes, y/n!" your mother clapped cheerily. you quirked an eyebrow at your mom's theory, not believing that someone is just walking around with a string of ugly spikes around their neck- you felt kinda bad for them if they were.
you thought that as you grew older maybe you would grow more of a connection with your necklace- but you didn't. in fact, you believe the opposite happened.
you realized early on in your life that you hated the way gold jewelry looked on you- the ugly sun around your necklace contrasted so awful against your skin- no matter what anyone else had told you. your earrings, rings, and bracelets were always silver. you felt prettier with the paler colour of your jewelry.
you also quickly learned that you were not a morning or overall day person. you preferred late nights and everyone close to you referred to you as a night owl. you loved staying up into late hours of the night- when it was quiet and you felt like it was only you in the world for once. it was only you awake late at night so you wouldn't feel like an outcast for at least a few hours.
you could tell that your parents were getting slightly disappointed the more you aged that you hadn't found your soulmate around the same age that they had. of course, there was no 'set age' that you had to find your soulmate, but it seemed like they wanted you to fall in love as young as they did so that you could cherish your soulmate for as long as possible.
you've begun to feel so much pressure to find your soulmate, whether it was on purpose or not, that you feel like you could care less if you found yours or not. you didn't see the big deal anymore, not with watching all the 'love' around you at all times.
"have a good day at school, y/n!" your mother called from the kitchen, poking her head around the corner in time to see you open the front door.
"i'll try." you groaned, not wanting to leave the house anyway.
"don't forget to smile, y/n! your soulmate could be just around the corner!" your mother pointed to her own pretty smile.
you forced an overexcited, sarcastic smile on your face in response, making your mom laugh in response as you left your house.
you grumbled to yourself as her constant reminders that you need to find your soulmate, or that your soulmate could be lurking anywhere. you were getting tired of all this soulmate talk that you wanted to rip your hair out. you even mentally cursed your soulmate for taking so damn long to find you.
you kicked a stone that was on the sidewalk as you made your way to the bus stop, needing to let go of some of your frustration in at least the smallest way possible. you watched the small rock fly and hit the bus stop post against the sidewalk. looking up at the familiar sign that you've stood beside for the past four years, you realized that there was a paper taped against it.
as you got close enough to read it, you realized that it was a letter explaining that the city was getting rid of the bus you had taken every single day away and that the people who used the bus would have to take another one.
"oh my god," you grumbled, kicking another stone in frustration and pulling out your phone to find another bus route to school. "my luck is just awful, isn't it?"
luckily, another bus stop wasn't too far from your now old one. still, you'd have to walk farther than usual, but at least you'd still be able to be at school on time.
your wait for the new bus wasn't long as you made it there just in time for when the bus pulled up. unlike your old bus stop, where it was just you that got on at your stop, there seemed to be a lineup of students your age waiting to get on the bus.
the new bus was a lot more crowded, and you struggled to find an empty spot to sit in. there seemed to be half of the students that went to your school on this bus. you had to push yourself through people (who all gave you a dirty look) to get to the back of the bus.
as you reach the stairs at the back of the bus, there’s a boy standing there blocking your entrance to it. he’s wearing all black that matches his black hair- and even with the crowded bus- you practically falling all over the place as the bus driver starts to speed off- you still think to yourself how much the colour black doesn’t suit him.
his face is rounder with pretty high cheekbones and his light rose coloured lips are pulled into a scowl as he stares out the bus window. his wired headphones are tangled down his chest as you have to look up at him to see his face completely.
the bus makes a harder turn and it sends you flying forward- hitting the shoulder of the boy that you were just examining. you manage to catch yourself on the railing of the stairs before you full-on face planted onto the dirty bus floor. you turn around to apologize to the boy that you had rammed your shoulder into- but quickly get intimidated when his scowl is already staring directly at you.
you mumble an apology to him quickly, turning around to move to the empty spot you found. your eyes land on him again once you’re sat- his eyes are boring into yours as he watches you sit down finally.
you shrug your shoulders at him when he doesn’t turn around- almost asking what is it that he wants and you mouth the words “i’m sorry” to him again. the boy only shrugs in return and looks away from you towards the window again, watching as the bus continues to drive almost crazily around the city.
you feel uncomfortable for the rest of the bus ride. you felt like you weren’t able to take your eyes off of the boy with the mean scowl, every few seconds you felt the urge to look over at him again.
with each look you would notice more and more about him: like the few freckles that were scattered over his face, the pretty gold earrings in his ears and the way his fingers would tap against his thigh to the beat of the music he was listening to with his headphones. if it weren’t for the frown on his rosy lips and his eyebrows furrowed together underneath his black bangs then you would’ve thought he was quite the happy guy.
the thought of how much the black hair cascading around his face doesn’t suit him crosses your mind. neither does the frown- and you briskly wish to see what his facial features looked like when he smiled- thinking that it would probably brighten up the fatigued and tired bus that you were on.
the boy got off at the bus stop before the stop at the school, making you wonder if he went to your school or not. you had never seen him before- but had a backpack on and looked around your age. you watched him walk on the sidewalk- the scowl never leaving his face- until the bus started driving again and he was out of sight.
as you walked to your first class of the day you couldn’t get this weird feeling off of your chest and the thoughts of the mean boy from this morning out of your mind. you didn’t know if the two symptoms you were having were connected or not- but they were annoying and you wanted them to stop. you hoped that your class would make you stop feeling this way as you sat down in your usual seat.
“what’s up with you?” yuna’s voice pulled you out of your thoughts. you’ve been friends with yuna since your freshman year and she’s always been very blunt since you’ve known her.
“what?” you question, taking in how her small figure was turned backwards in her seat in front of you so she could look at you.
with her eyebrow quirked up, “i said hi to you and you ignored me and you’ve basically just been staring off into the distance zoning out for the past five minutes.”
“oh.” you realize that you have been thinking about the encounter with the mean bus boy again- thinking about how you’ve never been so intrigued with someone before.
“yeah, ‘oh’, what’s wrong?” yuna tilted her head, knowing you like the back of her own hand since you’ve grown so attached to one another during your highschool days.
“nothing really,” you feel like you respond honestly, because the mean boy on the bus this morning was truly nothing (at least it was at the moment). yuna gives you the look that she always gives you when she knows that there is more to the story than what you are saying.
“morning, everyone!” your teacher interpts your conversation, making yuna give you one more suspicious look before shes turning in her seat again to fast the front of the class. “so today, we will be going over the basics of the history of soulmates- a quick soulmates 101 if you will.”
you tapped your pen against your notebook for majority of the class as your teacher went over things that you felt like you’ve known since you were a child. soulmates were such an important and big aspect in your society that you’re sure everyone knew about the topics and facts that the teacher was going over. for a second you questioned yourself as to why you even took this class- but remembered that it was because it was an easy A.
“now, does anyone know what exactly happens when you meet your soulmate?” your teacher asked the class, when no one raised their hand he continued with a soft smile on his older face, “great things happen,” he nods finally. he turns to the board and writes on it ‘what happens?’ “when you meet your soulmate you may feel as if you have known them for much longer than you have- as if you’ve known them your entire life.” the topic peaks your interest as you actually listened, wanting to know more for when and if the time ever happens for you, “divine timing might start to take place- as in everything else in your life will start to come together for you.” :
“and in some cases you’ll even find that telepathy can occur if you are truly meant to be together- they’ve figured that this specifically happens when you’ve spent multiple past lives with your soulmate.” :
yuna turns around to look at you, her usual big eyes are in squints as she stares directly into your own.
“what are you doing?” you ask her quietly to not disturb the class.
“are you getting any specific words in your head right now?” yuna asks, her eyes continuing to be closed in sharp slits.
“um, no?” you tilted your head confused.
“damn, i wanted to see if you were my soulmate.” yuna’s eyes returned to normal and her lips formed a pout.
you laughed at her, “maybe in another life, yun.” your friend winked at you and turned back to her notebook, scribbling the words the teacher had written on the board into her notebook.
“you could possibly feel like time is never ending when you first talk to your soulmate- and that you have everything in common with them- like they truly are your other half.” you teacher drones on about what happens when you meet your soulmate for a little while longer- making you think if you have ever had any feeling like the ones he was mentioning.
of course you drew a blank when you tried to apply them to any interactions you’ve ever had- plus you were pretty sure that i fyou ever meetyour soulmate you would know the second you’re standing right in front of them.
even when your soulmate class finishes, you find yourself thinking about the mean bus boy and about what happens when you meet your soulmate. you couldn’t get the stupid boy out of your head- but you figured that it was because you had left a bad impression on him, not meaning to upset him by literally being thrown into him on the bus- but then you wondered why you even cared about the impression you had left on him, it’s not like you’d ever see him again…
he was standing on the bus the next day.
as soon as you started walking down the aisle of the bus you could feel that he was close- you scanned the bus for him at the same time as you were scanning the bus for an empty seat to sit at.
you almost didn’t recognize the boy today as he no longer had black hair covering his forehead- but pink hair instead.
you sat down in the spot directly behind him. you weren’t sure if he even noticed you today as he was staring down at his phone- the scowl still sprawled on his face as he looked the screen.
with his new pink hair, you thought about how much more it suited him. he looked prettier than ever and you felt more drawn to him.
you felt your hands start to get clammy as you realized how close you were sitting to him and how you were staring at him like a possible maniac.
you got the same feeling that you had felt the day before- like you couldn’t take your eyes off of him. you had to keep forcing yourself to look away from him.
it didn’t take long of your obvious staring for him to catch on. from his standing position he turned his head to the right slightly, looking right at you with the same scowl on his face that he seemed to always have. direct eye contact with him seemed to get you out of the weird trance you were in and turned to look out the window again- feeling your cheeks turn warm at the thought of being caught.
when you glanced at him in the corner of your eye again after what felt like a minute (a very long minute) he was turned back to his phone again, not paying any attention to you, making you let out a quiet sigh of relief.
the now pink haired boy pulled the wire to request for the bus to stop at the next bus stop- which was the same stop as the day before- the one that was just before all the other students got off to go to school.
and maybe your constant urge to stare at the boy did some good for both of you and the universe because you caught the way he dropped his wired head phones on the bus floor as he was about to step off of the bus.
without even really realizing you jumped up, letting out a rushed ‘hey!” to him, you bent down to pick up the headphones when another pale hand reached down with you. your fingers laced in the wires and brushed against the warm hand at the same time. as you looked up you realized that the boy was picking them up with you.
you saw his pink bangs first as they covered his forehead and eyes again, and then when he moved his head upwards you made eye contact and realized how retty his eyes actually were- also hwo close your faces had suddenly become.
you stood up before him, looking away from his face and lower to his hoodie. as he stood up a few seconds after you, a silver jewelry caught your attention in his hoodie. it was hard to see but you could recognize the spikes from anywhere.
they were the ugly spikes that were also on your own necklace.
you couldn’t have been more sure of it if you tried- they were the same spikes that you’ve never seen on anyone’s soulmate necklace before.
but his was silver as yours was gold.
a heavy feeling settled in your chest at the recollection of what your own looked like- as if you had somehow been able to forget the jewelry that you wear everyday. you hadn’t realized you were still holding onto the other side of his headphones as you both stood in front of each other.
“uh, thanks?” the boy spoke to you, a disturbed expression on his face when you wouldn’t let go of his headphones.
“oh- sorry- uh- you’re welcome.” you almost stuttered out, letting your fingers drop the side of his headphones that you were holding.
the boy nodded with a tight lipped smile and turned on his heel to exit the bus completely. you stood in shock at how soft his voice sounded- so different than how his usual facial expression would have made him sound like.
you stood in the same spot, staring at where the boy once stood as long as it took for him to step off, the bus doors to close and for the bus to keep driving with the boy nowhere in sight.
the boy’s voice played in your head for the entire day- it blocked out every other noise and it was all you could think about.
the mean bus boy’s voice was pretty- just like everything else about him.
you didn’t see him again for a while.
everyday you took the bus that week you were getting more and more upset each time you stepped on the bus and he wasn’t there. everytime it got to the bus stop before the schools’ you got upset that no one was requesting the stop and getting off.
there was no mean bus boy with pink that had an awful scowl on his face and twisted headphones that he blasted music and tapped his fingers on his thighs to.
there was no boy that potentially, possibly, might have been your soulmate.
you cursed yourself for not doing something when you noticed his necklace- for not asking if you could even see it clearer.
and if you weren’t giving yourself enough shit for not doing anything when your possible soulmate was standing right in front of you- yuna was definitely giving you shit- cursing at you in the middle of the hallways making all the other students glare at you two for being too loud.
yuna asked you to describe the boy to her- hoping that maybe she knew him. but she only gave you a disappointed face when she couldn’t think of anyone that matched that description.
so not only did you not know the boy's name or age- you didn’t even know what school he went to.
by friday- a full week of not seeing your potential soulmate, you had given up all hope on him and yourself.
the weekend was dreadful. the days went by fast as you slept through them- but the nights were restless.
you usually liked staying up throughout the hours of the night- where it was silent and peaceful and it was only you awake in the house. the neighbourhood fell into a peaceful slumber while you stayed awake with your thoughts racing.
your heart felt like there was a hole in it and you couldn’t describe the feeling in any other way besides that.
on monday you felt like shit. your sleeping schedule was even more out of whack than it usually was. you didn’t bother showering from the amount of sleepiness in your body that had taken over. you went to school in the same sweatpants that you had slept in all weekend.
the wave of uneasiness that started to smother your entire being was a nuisance to you and to everyone else around you- yet you had no idea as to what had specifically caused it.
you trudged your way onto the bus on monday mourning, your own headphones wrapped your fingers this morning as you sat down on the bus listening to music- trying to distract yourself from how tired you were.
your heartbeat started to pick up pace as you sat down. it felt like sheer panic was coming over your body as you simply just sat on the bus with no one directly around that morning. your hand covered your heart, trying to calm it as you took a deep breath.
in the corner of your eye you saw a shade of pink that look all too familiar to you.
in a millisecond you whipped your head to the side to see it clearly.
there, across the aisle from you, sat the boy- the mean boy with the scowl that you couldn’t get out of your head for the past week and a half. and he was already looking at you.
it was somehow silent on the bus as you both stared at each other- different songs playing through both your headphones. you couldn’t tell if the bus was moving or not as you didn’t dare break eye contact with him- thinking that if this is truly your last time seeing this boy then you wanted to remember each hazel flake that was beautifully set in his eyes.
you don’t know how long you both stared at each other- but you cursed yourself again for not realizing he was beside you when you sat down.
when he reached his arm up to pull the wire to request the bus to stop, your heart sank as your eyes pulled apart. you watched him as he made sure his headphones were wrapped around his fingers today as he got up- obviously not wanting to drop them again as he got off.
the sheer panic you felt minutes before had returned and you didn’t know what to do. you couldn’t let this boy disappear from you again- especially not after all the shit you had gotten from yuna the week before.
before you could process your thought process- you jumped up and stepped off the bus at the boys’ usual bus stop- the one before the school.
you mentally damned the school as you wanted to know if the pink-haired boy in front of you was your soulmate or not. you watched him walk to the right- away from your school- for a second, wanting to create some distance between you guys. you were sure that the boy was not expecting you to jump off the bus after him as he didn’t turn around once- his eyes glued to his phone again.
you sigh but watch his figure wander down the sidewalk toward your school. until he stops at the store right outside the school gates. he walks inside, and the bell on the door jingles as he enters. you rush to the window, wanting to catch a glimpse of him inside.
he's the only customer in the store as you watch him scan the drink aisle. you wonder for a second if he'll pick his favourite drink and let you in on his preferences.
you see him close the fridge door, a drink in hand as he starts to walk up to the cashier. you struggle to see what he has picked until he places it on the counter for the worker to scan.
and of course, it's the absolute worst drink you have ever tried.
the lemon-flavoured juice that everyone raved over that you hated. the bottle was wrapped in yellow paper with cartoon pictures of limes, suns and bees.
the boy smiles at the cashier as he finishes paying and grabs his rink to leave. you see that his smile pulls at his cheeks and eyes, making his eyes turn to slits. there's a pull at your chest when you see his smile- like his smile can suddenly drag you into him and pull you around.
The bell at the door makes you realize that you're still on your tiptoes, perching against the window to look inside. you quickly turn on your heel, so you're body is faced away from the door, and you make it look like you've been leaning against the store's wall for some time. like it's a natural thing for you to do.
you turn around again when you think he's walked further enough to not notice you. you can see his pink hair walking in the direction towards your school, his yellow drink swaying by his side as he holds it in his hand. you can see his white head phones looping up to his ears as he looks down at his phone as he walks. you muse yourself and wonder if his music taste is just as bad as his drink preference.
you start walking to school after him, lost in your own thoughts about him as you stare at the back of his pink-haired head.
suddenly, the boy stops and spins on his heel, a glare on his face as he stares at you.
you didn't realize how close you had gotten to him from walking almost absentmindedly. so now, you were only a meter apart from one another. his glare against your sheepish smile.
"can i help you with something? or are you just stalking me?" his voice rings out so melodically that it almost makes you forget that you need to respond. when you don't answer his eyebrow quirks up, "i mean you followed me off of the bus, waited for me outside the store, and is now following me to school."
"right! i- uh," you shake your head, trying to get your thoughts together, "you're my soulmate!" not exactly the way you wanted to tell him, but you can't go back now.
the boy's face drops slightly as he takes in your own surprised appearance. there's no longer a glare on his face, but hesitance and curiosity. he pulls out his headphones in one tug, and lets them tangle in his hand as he speaks. "what do you mean?"
"i mean," you start to reach into your shirt, pulling out the gold necklace you've always hated. "i think ours match."
the boy examines your necklace, not moving an inch closer than the meter you were standing at. you could see his mocha eyes swirl over the spikes with a hint of recognition, before darkening to a glare again.
"i don't think so, mine's silver." he shakes his head in disagreement.
"well, let me see yours." you speak quickly, scared that he'll somehow disappear in a second. you see him hesitate, before he reaching into his hoodie and pulling out his own necklace.
you step forward, wanting a clear sighting of the necklace instead of the small glimpses you've caught on the bus. when you step closer you instantly smell his perfume and you wonder if he can smell yours.
the silver charm hangs in front of your face, now that you're up close you can see that the awful spikes you've always thought were distasteful are one-hundred percent identical on his. you reach out and grab it so it stops swaying. the boy takes a small step back at your movement, but allows you to hold his charm. "let's just check anyways." you tell him and he doesn't respond, only watches in silence as you bring your charm to his.
in an instant, your gold sun and his silver half-moon click together. the top and bottom spike fit each other perfectly, despite being different metals.
a small gasp leaves your mouth as the charms become one. not taking your eyes off it as they hang together in the air, successfully holding you and the boy together.
you're unable to read the boys face as he examines your connect charms. his mocha eyes are almost glazed over as he stares.
as you two stand there, connected by metal, it's like both of you are waiting for something, anything, to happen. a sign of some sort to finalize that you are soulmates. but instead, it's just some girl and some boy, standing on the sidewalk, probably late to school.
in an instant, the boy is removing his charm from yours. your necklace falls flat against your chest now that it's not being confined with his.
"what do you think?" you ask him quietly, hopeful.
"i guess we're soulmates."
"it was so awkward, yuna!" you cry as you put your face in your hands.
"why? what exactly happened?" your best friend asks you as you sit in class, supposed to be working but are too consumed with the events of earlier this morning.
you lift your head slightly as you speak so she can hear you, "it was just so- so awkward! and silent! nothing like what i've heard it's suppose to be!"
"like what?"
"like, like magical! there was certainly no magic, no sparks, no- no, nothing!"
"well that's weird." you groan at your friends words, putting your face in your hands again. "so what are you going to do?"
"i don't know, yuna!" you wish you could disappear, all of this soulmate business almost too much for you. "i told him i'd see him on the bus tomorrow and then ran off."
"you ran and left your soulmate on the sidewalk alone?" yuna exclaims, amusement in her voice. it only makes you groan again, not caring if your classmates were glaring at you for the noise.
"i don't know if he's my soulmate!"
"well you thought he was your soulmate before, and you said he thinks your soulmates! isn't this all you ever wanted, y/n?" yuna asks you, rubbing your back.
"no it's not!" you sit up, "when i found my soulmate i wanted it to be a undoubtedly, love filled moment! like in all the soulmate-finding stories i've heard! not, whatever happened this morning."
"was it really that bad?" yuna grimaces as she asks.
"he asked me if i was stalking him!"
"oh."
you groan and put your head down onto your desk, closing your eyes. you hope that when you open them again you would wake up from this awkward nightmare.
"what's his name, anyways?"
"oh my god," you close your eyes tighter, "i didn't even ask my soulmate his name!" yuna's laugh echos in your ears, and you can't help but compare it to how soft his voice filled your ears earlier.
the next door, you dread stepping onto the bus. you make your way to your usual spot, keeping your hood up and eyes locked on the floor. with every stop getting closer to his, you feel your heartbeat pick up. even though you tell yourself to calm down, you feel more and more adrenaline fill your body. when the bus stops at the designated stop, you refuse to look anywhere but your lap, no longer wanting, hoping to catch a glimpse of the boy with pink hair.
a body sits next to you, their thighs almost brushing against yours. it's then that you smell a perfume so similar that it draws you to slowly pull your head to the person beside you. you gulp when you lock eyes with the mocha ones you seem to so desperately fall into.
without a word, his hand reaches out to you. you glance down and see the white headphone he's offering you. your eyes following the wire that leads to the other one, placed into his own ear.
you take his headphone offer, popping it into your ear and are instantly listening to music.
it only takes a second of you realizing shawn mendes is singing in your ear to make you groan out in disgust.
"what?" the boy's voice asks you.
"just, shawn mendes? really?" you crinkle your nose up.
"what's wrong with that?" he defends himself and shawn.
"i just hate pop music."
the boy tilts his head to the side, "then what music do you like?"
you shrug, "rock music. like the who, queen or even ac/dc."
now it was the pink-haired boy's turn to crinkle his nose up in disgust. "really?" he takes the headphone out of your ear when you nod and pops it into his other ear, blocking you out.
you huff, crossing your arms over your chest and looking out the window, watching how the city moves when the bus drives by. you start to think to yourself about how could the boy beside your be your soulmate.
it was awkward between you two. you seemed to have nothing in common. there was nothing magical that happened when your charms connected. you were struggling to comprehend what you two could even have a conversation about.
when the bus made its final stop at the school and there was not another word spoken between you two you thought that this would probably be the last time he even sat with you on the bus.
but then, the pink haired boy turns and says almost slyly over his shoulder, "my name's sunoo, by the way."
if your ears didn't seem to cut out all the other noise and voices on the bus, you would've missed it.
"i'm y/n."
the pink-haired boy, sunoo, gives you one last look before he's stepping off the bus, getting lost in the herd of students and the noise returns to your ears and you wish it wouldn't. you wish you could only hear his voice for the rest of your life.
you want to question why he's sitting beside you the next day on the bus. but instead you question him as to why he's handing you his phone.
similar to the day before, he's sitting down beside you without a word and handing you something. you furrow your brows together, looking between his phone and him.
"your number." he speaks impatiently. your lips form an 'O' as you nod and enter your number, double checking that you put in the right number before you're passing his phone back to him. you watch in the corner of your eye as he adds your name to the contact. he presses on the emoji keyboard, his fingers hover over them, before he ultimately saves it as it is and locks his phone.
you wonder all day if sunoo is going to text you today, or tomorrow, or never. but, your pondering stops when you get a text during last period.
unknown : meet me outside by the front gate when school's over?
me : sure
it's not hard to find sunoo after school. his pink hair standing out in the large crowd of students going home. you smile at him once you're standing in front of him.
"do you like ice cream?" he asks you, your ears sound like they're popping and only his voice can be heard.
"yes."
"let's go." he turns on his heel, starting to walk down the street towards downtown, where all the shops and markets are located. you struggle to keep up with him at first, as he so easily glides through all the students.
when he finally stops, you see a giant sign "Kim's Sweet Shop" and you know exactly where you are.
"oh! i've been here before!" you say to him, a grin on your face full of recognition.
"really?" sunoo asks you, turning to look at you, "my parents own this shop."
"no way! i use to come here all the time when i was younger!"
"hm," sunoo hums, "maybe that's where i've seen you before."
"what do you mean?"
"well, when i first saw you on the bus, i thought you looked so familiar but i couldn't put my finger on where i've seen you before."
"oh, i didn't think you even noticed me on the bus."
sunoo shrugs, "of course i did." when you narrow your eyes at him he speaks, "you're beautiful." when you feel your cheeks light up a colour that matches his hair, you're glad he continues, "c'mon let's get some ice cream. and you better not like some gross flavour like pistachio."
"hey! pistachio is good!"
sunoo only groans in response.
when your ice creams are finished, and you both argue about who's favourite flavour is grosser, you let sunoo walk you to a park down the street. all the kids have gone home for dinner, so you and sunoo are alone at top the jungle gym. your mouths are full of sugar as you look out onto your small town, settling down for the friday night.
"i listened to a queen album last night." sunoo breaks the silence between you.
"did you?" you sit up at the news. "and what did you think of it?"
sunoo smiles gently, "it was alright."
you try to hide the happiness that fills your stomach alongside the pistachio ice cream you finished. "well, i can tell you now that i'm not listening to a shawn mendes album for you!"
"hey! what's your problem with shawn?"
"my problem is that he sounds like every other pop singer!"
sunoo gasps, placing his hand on his chest, "i can not believe you just said that!"
you roll your eyes, "well send me some more pop albums besides shawn's and i'll try not to hate them."
when the fall wind picks up, you let sunoo walk to you home.
the walk is full of laughter and teasing as both of you struggle to walk more than a meter without nudging the other for 'walking weird'. you cheeks hurt from grinning when you step onto your street and you realize your afternoon with sunoo is over. it went by so fast.
it's silent when you step onto your porch step. the porch light shining over both of you so you're not left in complete darkness. you twiddle with your hands in front of you, wondering how your night will end now that sunoo is going home.
"so what do you think?" the pink-haired boy asks you.
"about what?"
"about us being soulmates. do you really think we are?"
his question lingers all around you. you can't deny that it's been something you've been debating for weeks now. you feel like you can still find ways to argue if you are not. but after this afternoon, you find it hard to.
"i think we are."
even though he tries to hide it, sunoo's smile takes up his face as he looks down at the pavement, kicking nothing with his shoe. "me too."
there's happiness around you as you bid each other a good night. you watch him walk down your street until he turns and he's out of sight. your ears feel like they're popping when he's gone. your parents don't ask questions when you walk inside, only saying good night as you happily drag your body upstairs to your bedroom.
your body feels lighter when you lay in bed, but you know you still won't be able to sleep for hours. your insomnia mixed with love is a better feeling than your insomnia mixing with anxiety. you smile to yourself when you catch yourself saying the 'L' word.
you roll over onto your stomach, not caring about the time when you text sunoo saying how much fun you had tonight, and to thank him for the ice cream. as soon as you press send, your body collapses into a deep sleep.
the first thing you see on your phone when you wake up at noon is a text from sunoo from hours earlier:
sunoo : you really need to fix your sleeping schedule. sunoo : wanna hang out later?
you realize that you texted him the night before at three in the morning before passing out. and then you realize that you need to get ready to hang out with sunoo later.
the next weeks are filled with things you could only have imagined before. sunoo and you started by showing each other your favourite places around town. which seemed to be very different from each others.
you took him to the museum where you frequented. showing him your favourite paintings that you have basically memorized. you told him how you wanted one of your art works to be in this museum one day. he didn't seem to understand your love for this museum in particular, but he didn't say anything and just let you pull him around for hours until he was sure he's seen even every nook and cranny of the building.
he took you to his favourite cafe that was probably the busiest building in your whole town. you always tried to avoid this place, but sunoo assured you that it was the best. you didn't like all the noise in the place, but every time sunoo spoke it made it better since it only seemed like you and him in the cafe. you sat the table while sunoo bought every snack that he deemed to be the most delicious thing on the earth. and even when you only took a bite of it since you didn't like it, sunoo didn't seem to care. he only laughed at the ridiculous face you made while tasting it.
you started meeting up in the halls at school during class hours, laying around on the stairs together until you heard someone coming. you sat closer and closer to each other on the bus every morning, annoying the others who were still half asleep with your laughing. sometimes sunoo would surprise you on a saturday morning with a pistachio ice cream cone from his parent's shop, urging you to eat it before it would melt.
when sunoo told you he wanted to take you somewhere special, you thought it would be another cafe. but it turned out to be the roof of his parent's shop.
you were scared at first, but when sunoo reached his hand out to help you up, it didn't seem too bad after all.
sunoo sat beside you, his pink hair fading into the sunset above you. he looked beautiful. his tan skin milking the sky of it's golden and pink hues. his mocha eyes contrasting so perfectly. and his gorgeous smile, taking up his whole face every time you made him laugh.
when you decided to lay down on the rooftop, sunoo followed you. the gentle wind would surround your bodies, making you closer together for some warmth. when sunoo's hand circled yours, you didn't shy away from the heat it provided.
on either sides of you was the sun and the moon. the sun ready for the sleep, and the moon ready to take charge for the night, watching over everyone as they slept. you turn your head to the side to look at sunoo, giggling when your noses touched from how close you were.
"i'm glad you're my soulmate," sunoo's voice speaks, and the rest of the world goes blank.
"why?"
sunoo rolls his eyes at you but responds, "because you're funny, caring, understanding. everything that's perfect."
you smile, "understanding? i'm not sure i understand your love for shawn mendes though." you laugh when sunoo nudges your shoulder with his own, "but thank you. i'm glad you're my soulmate, too."
suddenly, you feel a burning on your chest, right where your charm lays. and you know sunoo feels it too from the way his hand not connected with yours lands on his chest. your eyes meet his mocha ones and you can't seem to look away. the charm burns your skin more intensely until your face is right in front of sunoo's. and you give in.
as soon as your lips touch the burning stops and you feel yourself being tugged closer together. your charm interlinks with sunoo's as you kiss so you're connected in more ways than one. you feel perfect like this. the way you can taste, hear and feel sunoo. even with your eyes closed you can see him flawlessly, the way he always is.
when you both pull away, you gasp as your eyes meet your connected charms.
"oh my god," sunoo says, taking his charm from yours to look at it. your charm hits your chest before you grab it. "it- they,"
"they changed." you finish for him. examining the once gold, sun charm now turn into a silver sun. the ugly spikes you hated are softer as they surround the sun's face.
you glance towards sunoo's whose face is just as confused as your own. his silver moon is now gold, and his spikes too are softer, more round as sunoo's fingers trace them.
sunoo lets out a sigh, "thank god, because i really hate silver."
"i really hate gold." you smile at him, laughing when sunoo pulls you in for another, one of many, kisses.
from that day on, sunoo and you don't shy away from anything, despite your differences. sure, each other's parents are confused on how both of you are soulmates since you are so different, and maybe sometimes you are, too. but you don't let it bother you.
the love you have for each other is something that you know only the two of you have in this large world. you're lucky enough to find your soulmate in the small town you grew up in. there seems to be no worries with sunoo, time, pace or future is something you know you can handle as long as sunoo is beside you. he's someone you know that will never judge you, even your hatred for shawn mendes.
so when sunoo's hand slips into his sweatpants he let you borrow, you don't shy away from him. you place your hand over his boner that's so noticeable under his sweats. sunoo groans, surging towards your body and resting his head in your shoulder as he continues to circle your clit.
"fuck," sunoo pants in a small whimper.
you're sharking your head, your other hand coming up to cup his face. "feels so good, already." your lips start to move against each other, getting lost in the pleasure both of you are feeling.
both of your movements speed up, trying to get the other one to feel just as good as the other. a low whine escapes your lips as your fingers dig into his pink hair that you love so much.
sunoo grunts, using all of his power to continue to circle your tiny, swollen clit. "you're mine, right, y/n?" you feel too good to answer with words, your hips moving in sync with his fingers, so he takes your nod as an answer.
both of you can feel your orgasms approaching. neither of you stop, or want to stop. focusing on the other reaching their high.
"fuck, sunoo!" you gasp out, a small squeal falls from your lips as you feel your body tense. the charm on your neck burning the skin under it as you feel a fire take over your body. you feel your cheeks burn to match sunoo's hair as you feel the coil building in your stomach snap.
"shit, baby, i-," sunoo lets out, biting onto his lower lip before he feels his cock twitch and empty into his boxer. your hand doesn't stop jerking his cock over his clothes until he moves his hips away, retracting his hand from your panties at the same time.
you both catch your breaths, the heat from your charms cooling as you come back to your senses. you both laugh as you make eye contact, out of breath but so, so happy. because everything with sunoo is happy.
and even though you and sunoo don't have everything in common. and your soulmate love story isn't like everyone else's, kim sunoo is still your soulmate, you are his.
and you wouldn't want it any other way.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
You sat in the window seat of your room in the orphanage, reading a book on animals of all kinds. The stuffed animals were perched along the ledge as well as on your rocking chair and the bed. They were the selected few the orphanage caretakers provided to keep you entertained, even though you were 'almost' eighteen, you wanted to keep them with you. A wardrobe stood up on the north wall–the same as the bed–at the foot of the bed frame. In the corner your body faced, was a cabinet with drawers and a few unimportant dusty objects that were on top. A simple faded green circle rug sat in the middle of the wooden floor with books of all kinds laid out open to the crisp air. Your plain light blue dress was spread out around your legs keeping your pale skin covered, and your waist long hair was pinned back nicely in its normal half up half down style you were always instructed to wear.
A gentle breeze came over you through the crack of the opened glass pane window, causing you to look down at the big front yard. Other kids played with outdoor games or dolls in the grass under the great oak trees; but you stayed inside in your personal assigned room for two reasons: one, the kids were frightened of the cold behavior you possessed around them and two, you were a vampire and was afraid they would be suspicious of how you did not behave like them. But you, out of everyone who stayed in the orphanage, only knew of your dark secret and had been determined to keep it that way. The sun was blocked behind the gloomy sky in the afternoon sky as the day went on; today was the day that no one had to go to the medical room for a check up.
The rain stopped thirty minutes ago, allowing the kids to play outside. Most kids that arrived here were sick and went under special treatments. But rumor has it that the treatments didn't turn into anything else but death. The caretakers favored treating you because of your dead like appearance and no matter what they put into you it would never make a difference. Of course you knew exactly why and the caretakers were slowly beginning to exploit what you were with each test. Something they injected into your neck did weaken you for a few minutes and made you lethargic which you did not like. But because you were a vampire you came back to your senses quickly and the caretakers would act as if nothing happened and that you were healthy. Not really fitting in and being the weird freak out of the bunch of kids that come and go here was beginning to feel stressful without anyone to relate to in this place.
Your abilities are to speak with any type of animal as well as take control of their mind and body. You tried your best to hide your gift as it previously caused trouble and damage to you back at the old orphanage you stayed at.
~Back at the previous orphanage~
Outside near the kitchen side of the building, hidden in the forest trees, you hunted for your next meal. All the other kids could eat freely with each other, while you took your food that the kitchen maids prepared for you to the woods where you could properly dispose of it and eat your kind of food. When you had gotten a rabbit to eat, one of the newcomers that arrived two days ago took interest in you and secretly followed you into the forest without you knowing. He didn’t find anything suspicious until you turned around freezing in place. Finding him standing a few feet behind you brought panic into your mind. Jungwon, who was also a vampire, was not surprised or scared like you had thought he would be. He only told you to be careful of how you hunted and then left without another word. But you ignored his warning and continued to live the way you wanted, Jungwon being with you every step you dared to take.
>>>
The forest was beginning to become dusk as you walked back to the orphanage after drinking your third animal that day. As you stepped over a fallen log, a sudden twig snapped behind you. Pausing, you stayed still using your hearing to detect anyone around. After a few seconds of waiting, you heard nothing happening, so you continued to walk on. But not even taking two steps forward, a hand catches your wrist turning you around mid-step. You were then standing face to face with Jungwon. He was holding his index finger up to his lips to tell you to be quiet. Your defense cleared your mind once you figured out it was him who grabbed you.
"What are you doing out here at this hour?!" he whisper-shouted. You huffed pulling away from his strong grip.
"Eating," you replied, with a shrug. He sighed in frustration, glancing at the forest cautiously.
"If you don’t be careful someone will notice," he warned you. You rolled your eyes and began to walk again in the direction of the orphanage.
"I will be fine, you worry too much Wonnie," you teased him. He caught up with you and grabbed your hand.
"I worry because I care about you," he explained, sternly. “Do you remember what I told you that day by the pond?” Jungwon asked you. You sighed, turning to face him.
“We will protect each other for eternity,” you recited to him. He nodded, bringing his hand up to brush your hair behind your ear.
“I meant it, I want you to be safe, okay?” he spoke gently.
You smiled with a short nod and gave him a sweet kiss on his lips. Then continued to walk with him to the edge of the forest where you both could see the big stone house. You both walked up the side of the building rounding the corner to the front door. Reaching the great double doors, he stopped you from continuing into the orphanage.
"I love you, you know that right?" he asked in a whisper. So that any prying ears didn’t hear.
“I love you too,” you whispered back, giving his hand a squeeze.
Jungwon and you connected immediately after your first encounter, it did take a few days to talk to each other after the incident in the forest, but you two were inseparable after that. You both did everything together in secret to avoid suspicion. Jungwon was caring, protective, and loyal to you. He was your best friend and soulmate, the very strong bond was growing the more you two were around each other. It would be unbreakable soon enough.
Unfortunately the bond went to ruins in a matter of hours, the next morning very early when the days began to stay dark longer. You were in the upstairs living room reading a book by the fireplace using the light to see the words on the pages. Some footsteps brought you out of the world of ink. Before you could process any action, you were grabbed by two males that were much bigger than you, they pulled you up and dragged you down the stairs. You did not dare to make a sound as the other kids were fast asleep. The men took you outside down the dirt path to the front of the gate to a wagon that was parked close to the road.
The dawn was still far from peeking over the horizon, the only light was the lanterns on the wagon. All the while in the distance stood the headmistress who watched you be taken away with relief. The wood scraped your back at the force they used to hall you up into the wagon. Taking one last glance at the house, fear and pain filled your heart as you realized Jungwon didn’t know you were being taken. He would be so worried and heartbroken. You can’t just leave him.
“Jungwon!!” you suddenly shouted out, startling the men in the wagon. They quickly silenced you before you could call once more. As the world around you went dark and the sound and movement of the wagon began to drive away from the orphanage leaving your heart clenched in pain. Your bond ached for the presence of your soulmate.
In the later morning, Jungwon made his way through the whole house trying to find you, the confusion and fear blocking his mind was making him dizzy. As he entered the family room, he noticed a book turned over on the floor next to the fireplace. He came up to the book and picked it up, finding that it was the same one you had been reading.
“They took her early this morning,” a soft voice spoke behind him. Jungwon looked over his shoulder seeing a boy with black hair and pale skin around his age standing in the doorway holding a teddy bear. His name was Sunoo.
“Who took her?” he asked, he could feel his own eyes turn at the thought of someone hurting you. Sunoo shrugged.
“Someone, who doesn’t like vampires,” he responded. Jungwon stood up rushing up to him, getting up in his face.
“What makes you think there are vampires here?” he questioned as if it was a threat. Sunoo let out a giggle.
“You're not the only vampire who lives in this building,” he whispered. Jungwon backed away in shock. What? He is a vampire too? How is that possible? Just then another guy much taller than Jungwon and Sunno came in. His name was Heeseung, Jungwon remembered.
“Sunoo, leave him be,” he ordered. “The others are waiting,” Was he also a vampire?
“I'll be around if you need our help.” without another word Sunoo left the room. Jungwon sighed looking at the open window.
“I will find you," he vowed, speaking aloud as if you could hear him.
~Back to present orphanage~
You had not seen Jungwon since that early spring morning, leaving you to fall into a depressive state, everyday the pain in your heart grew as the days dragged on without Jungwon. But about two weeks ago, it was going to be your three year anniversary of your stay at this orphanage. One partly cloudy afternoon, you were outside when a hummingbird flew down to your figure, who was placed in the middle of the garden, squatting down to the plants picking the required daily rations of herbs for the kitchen. At first you were not interested and irritated with its presence, but after a few tries to grab your attention, you finally looked up at the bird sitting on the little wooden label stuck in the ground. You had found a little skinny white ribbon in its beak. Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion as you gently took the string and plucked a basil leaf tying the ribbon around it then gave it back to the hummingbird. Sending it back where it traveled from.
Another week went by, around eight o’clock in the morning the same hummingbird came back this time to your window with a little note tied to its foot. You rushed to the window, opening it letting him come in. Once you retrieved the note it said, 'Wait for me.' Jungwon. You sat all day long with butterflies in your stomach trying to understand the message. A call from outside by the headmistress broke your train of memories. The boys and girls got called inside for afternoon tea and snacks making you mentally cringe. As for you, the thought of food other than blood did not peak your interest. Speaking of snacks, it was almost pre-feeding time, which was only one hour.
Closing the book on your knees, you began to stand up when a sudden movement came from outside of the window down in the trees. You looked to the distant trees near the edge of the forest immediately spotting a tall male around your age leaning against a tall tree. He was looking right at you with curious eyes, he had chestnut brown hair and his clothes were a different style then the boys who stayed here. His eyes were like a doe's and he also had a soft handsome face and seemed to be fairly tall. Your eyes remained on him until a few kids came back outside to collect their toys distracting you for a second. When you looked back at the male he had vanished. Humming in confusion, you shrugged it off walking away from the window.
Right around supper time, you finally needed to eat. Placing the last book back onto the shelf, you straightened up moving to the closed door reaching out to the door handle. When you opened the door however two female caretakers stood at the door blocking the way out. Their faces looked soft and friendly.
“The headmistress wants to see you, come with us,” the first one informed you. Feeling nervous and uncertain, you nodded slowly and followed them down to the left of the hall, but instead of moving more to the left to go downstairs to the office, they moved to the right. So you continued to walk past the entertainment room then down another hall reaching the end of it to the last door on the right. A feeling of dread came to your mind as the door opened and your body began to retreat from it. The second female caretaker caught your arm before you could rush back to your room. Quickly, she silenced you by covering your mouth with her hand, she then had help from the first caretaker and together they dragged you down the wooden flight of stairs down into the basement. The treatments were held down here, only, it was not a new month, so your treatment was already completed.
Fear clouded your mind as the stairs became more and more less, you did not know why you were being brought down here, but you did not like it.
“Please, my treatment is already complete! Why am I down here?” you asked as you fought their grip. Of course you got no answer. As your feet touched the cold damp stone floor, a male caretaker met the three of you at the end of the steps to help control your erratic behavior. Fighting the attempt to use your full strength, the door to the hallway leading to the room was in view now. Unfortunately, it was not an examination hall, no, it was an experiment hall with the metal chairs in the center of the room. The dimly lit hallway showed the headmistress of the orphanage standing with her arms folded neatly in front of her. A fierce look of determination and disgust plastered on her pug like face.
"Why am I going to the experiment chairs?" you frantically questioned her. She smiled reassuringly, which you saw right through.
"Just a few extra tests we need to do," she simply replied. You panicked by stuttering out noises of confusion. She gave a blank expression before giving a small nod to the door to her right. Without another moment to spare, the male caretaker began to drag you to the hallway.
"No! Please! Call it off?!" you cried out. "I don't want to be tested!!" No one listened. You tried to break free without using your vampire strength, but it didn't work as well as you wanted. The door opened and the hallway came into sight. Your body was forced forward; there were small windows above the doors on both sides lining the hall, the sun was beginning to set giving the atmosphere an orange hue.
A door, five rooms down from the main door, opened and a few female nurses surrounded the small box-like room working on setting up medical equipment. In the center a chair with leather straps was standing. Something in you snapped as soon as your eyes came in contact with the metal chair, shoving your arm hard to the right, you sent the male to your right into the wall making it cave in slightly. A different male to your left immediately grabbed your free arm only to struggle shortly after to keep his hold on you. Before any more damage could happen from you, a sharp sting came from the nape of your neck. You screamed in pain, then reaching back to your neck gripping the object, you pulled it around to your eyes, it was a syringe with a blue residue left in the tube. No! Slowly you began to lose control of your surroundings, slumping to the floor as your vision faded into darkness.
***
You woke up in a forest full of trees, it was dull and misty outside around early morning. The birds sang sweetly in the trees and life in the forest was starting to wake up. Looking around the surrounding area, you noticed someone standing off in the distance. Walking closer, the person was wearing a gray blue sweater that had a hood, it was a strange style and looked from a different century. He seemed to have been looking around like he was lost until his eyes fell upon you. It was Jungwon. You felt as if your heart jumped to your throat, he was standing in front of you. Dashing a few feet ahead to close the distance between you both to touch him; a sudden invisible glass like wall trapped you from going any farther. You screamed out his name but he couldn't hear your cries.
Then the scene changed to a warm homey living room you had never seen before, but it wasn't the one that looked like a home, more like a boarding house. There were seven boys entertaining one another with a piano or dancing while some of them sat on a sofa laughing. A certain boy in the corner caught your eye immediately, it was Jungwon again. He was also watching the others play before his gaze turned straight to you. A smirk came along his face as he tilted his head to the side slightly, giving you a peek of his fangs. Found you.
***
Jerking awake on the experiment chair, your body felt like led, it was only limited by the leather straps buckled down along your fatigued figure. The room was dark except for the small spotlight above you; to the right in the faint light was the door and a rolling table that had surgery tools displayed. Your senses heightened when your nose smelled something intensely sweet. Your mouth started to feel dry and tight, glancing to the table next to you was a bowl that held a deep crimson red liquid. Blood. But it smelled different, it was much more sweet then the blood you normally consumed. It was human blood.
One nurse was present in the room, but she was busy taking notes at the desk in the nearby corner to notice you wake up. With a powerful pull you tried to break free from the buckles, but to no avail nothing helped. Your voice could not bring aid either, you were stuck until the other nurses would come finish the work of the test, now that you were awake. But the blue liquid would soon wear off and you could officially escape this place you once called home. Your baby blue dress is replaced with a plain white dress as well as your nicely pinned hair was now down in a tangled mess from threshing around.
“Oh good, you are awake,” the nurse said, standing up.
A few minutes passed of sitting in the chair, the nurse finished not long ago attaching strange wires and needles in your arms. But you could slowly feel your strength come back to you each second that went by. Suddenly, the faint smell of smoke and fresh blood filled your nose. You sharply turned your head to the door. What was happening? Just then you could hear loud breathing and footsteps coming from upstairs. Then the word fire was shouted out faintly. Looking at the nurse at the desk, she finally stood up after hearing a female cry out from down the hall behind the closed door. She opened the door glancing both ways down the hall before her gaze fixed to the left. The look of fear and terror came upon her face, she then quickly shut the door locking it, after it was secured, she came over to the table of tools grabbing a surgeon knife as a weapon. Your eyes stayed fixed on the door curious as to what was out there in the hall. You heard slow stocking footsteps echo in the long hallway, before it stopped in front of the door. It was quiet, except for the shaking breath of the nurse who was cowardly hiding behind your chair. Your eyes watched the door’s movement carefully.
The lock on the door slowly unlocked itself before it creaked open wide. In dim lighting from the lights in the hall, a figure stood tall, it was a boy with blonde hair. He didn't look but fifteen years of age and held a playful smirk. His eyes were the only thing holding your attention at the moment. They were the color red. Blood red. His peering eyes gazed around the room landing on you and then behind you. As he stepped in the nurse screamed bloody murder and moved closer to the wall.
"Who are you?!" she squeaked. The boy stocked into the room keeping silent as he made his way to her. She dodged him and ran to the door only to be blocked by his frame in a blink of an eye. Superspeed. He then broke her leg and caught her as she fell to the floor and dragged her out into the hall. You sit frozen as you hear her cries fade into nothing, the smoke is getting worse and you could hear the orphanage breaking above from the fire. Not even a second after the nurse was dragged out a different person appeared in the door frame. He was shorter than the boy you previously saw, he had brown hair and puppy-like eyes. Glancing down the room he spotted you, he looked to his right and motioned his hand in this direction. Was he going to hurt you? Are there more vampires? A sudden strong pull grew in your chest taking your breath away. It couldn’t be. The boy moved out of the doorway letting in another person you didn't expect to see. Jungwon took his friend’s place in the doorway looking in. When he saw you, he didn't spare a second coming straight to you.
"Good job Jake!" he praised his friend.
"Jungwon?!" you exclaimed in shock. He gave a small smile, but then frowned at the wires and needles in you. His eyes turned red in anger, he began to take them off. Then he grabs the leather straps, breaking them off your body. As soon as you were free, you threw your arms around him holding tight feeling the ache of the bond heal.
"I'm here," his gentle voice said, returning the hug. He didn't change in personality, but his voice was more mature and smooth since the last time you saw him. He pulled away cupping the side of your face to look at you.
"I can’t believe it’s you, I missed you," you whispered, admiring his face. Even after years of not seeing him you faintly remembered his facial features that strongly return to your memories all at once.
"I missed you too," he said, kissing your knuckles.
Just then the surrounding of the building began to crack and crumble under you guys. Slipping out of the chair, your legs gave out under you from being in the chair without movement for too long. Jungwon then picked you up without a thought and transported you to the outside. When the cool fresh air hits you, you breathe in relaxation, the grass under your feet feels soft as Jungwon sets you down. He did however keep his arm around you to make you stable while you two watched the building go up in flames.
Soon six boys came out from the forest in a rush. You realized they were from that fever dream you had not twenty minutes ago. Jungwon's arms wrapped tighter around your frame. Resting his forehead against your temple in relief as your gaze continued to watch the fire consume.
"You're free now," he whispered. The realization came upon you and your body slumped into his body, your eyes closing in the process. He was right, you were free.
Two hundred years later, your steps were light as you made your way to the table where the members talked with one another. The business room was completely dark, the only light that was present was the city lights of New York outside. Your long black sleeve pencil dress sparkled in the light making you look like a diamond. You came around the table carrying your glass of red liquid, you gave Jay and Heeseung a smile as you passed them and then slipped in between Ni-ki and Jungwon. Ni-ki playful bumped your arm in acknowledgement, you smirked and repeated the same action to him. Jungwon noticed your presence after his conversation with Jake ended. His arm came around your waist hugging your frame close to his. You wouldn’t have changed meeting him in the forest that day, because as fate would have it, he would be in return your soulmate in eternity.
“You look beautiful my love,” he complemented. You grinned at his words.
“Thank you Wonnie,” you responded. He smiled, slightly shaking his head at his nickname, looking back at the live city.
“Are you ready for a new beginning?” he asked in a whisper. You locked eye contact with him before leaning in, pressing a sweet kiss to his lips. Hearing the countdown of the New York ball drop.
“Always with you,” you replied in the same tone. Jungwon smiled, hugging you close if that was possible, allowing you to lean into his side. Then you and the boys raised your glasses to the new year of the 2000’s ready for a new beginning to happen.

DREAM A LITTLE DREAM
Pairing: Y/N x Any idol you love
Fluff and angst - non idol au
Wordcount: 1400 ish
Warnings: None
Summary: You had once broken his heart, you promised that you wouldn't do that ever again. Can you keep it this time around?
Note: This is based off a dream I had last night. It's heartbreaking, and I'm therefore using it as my free therapy session. - You can insert whoever in the place of our leading man, personally I feel like Jungkook is fitting the overall description. But if you want it to be San, Jay, Minguy or maybe even Yoongi, feel free to do so.
You stood there in a kitchen surrounded by people laughing, talking and having fun. It felt like being surrounded by family, even though you couldn’t quite place why that was, because none of these people's faces seemed like those of people you knew.
Or that was at least until you spotted him, you knew exactly who he was but he looked right through you. His eyes never met yours and it broke your heart.
You knew you deserved it. You had not treated him well. You had broken his heart and never thought of him again. But being so close to him was torture, and you suddenly couldn’t remember why you'd ever let him go.
He walked towards you, and said a small: “excuse me” as he passed. It was like he was deliberately trying not to touch you, as if he would burst into flames if he did.
Your body had reacted before your mind had a chance to stop it, and you reached out and grabbed his hand.
The mere skin to skin contact was enough for both of your breaths to hitch. He towered over you, his dark hair looked like he had just rolled out of bed. But it had always been your favorite look on him. After all, the two of you had spent most of your time together there.
You could see how he desperately tried to blink away the tears that his eyes threatened to spill.
“Y/N…” he said. But it was nothing more than a whisper, and you were confident that no one else had heard him.
You took his other hand in yours, and saw how he shut his eyes closed, with a pained expression on his face. How did I ever let him go? You thought to yourself.
You guided his arms around your waist, and forced him to hold you in his arms.
“Oh god, please don’t…” He said, this time a little louder, but still not loud enough for people to notice what was going on between the two of you.
“I’m so sorry” You whispered, and the pained expression were quickly traded in for one of surprice. “I’m so so sorry, I should’ve never left you”
You were close to him now, and could basically feel the frantic beating of his heart.
“Do-don’t say things you might regret” he answered as his eyes searched yours for the slightest hint of deception.
You just shook your head. “It has always been you, I’ve just been too stupid to notice it before now”
“Are you sure?” His arms were now holding you on their own. You had forgotten how safe he had always felt. He felt like home.
“I’m sure” you said and raised your hand to his cheek. He instantly leaned into you as he released a breath.
You couldn’t help yourself, and before you knew it your lips were crashed into his, and your hands were in his hair as he himself pulled you closer to him.
As you finally came up for air, the two of you could do nothing else but stare at one another and laugh at this whole situation.
God you had missed that sound. You had missed that familiar spark in his eyes whenever he looked at you.
“Promise me you wont leave me like that ever again”
“I promise”
He gave you a peck and sent a smirk your way. “Good”
Before you knew it, you were sitting next to him on a couch in the living room, one of his arms wrapped around you, pulling you close.
“God I can't believe you’re the one” A girl said as she looked at the two of you. “My brother and my best friend… You could’ve told me, you know?”
“Honestly? I had no idea he was your brother, we just met and hit it off I guess” You looked up at him, and he couldn’t help but smile before he placed a rather long kiss on your forehead.
She shook her head. “He told me about you, you know. The gorgeous woman who worked in STEM that broke his heart… It’s not something that really happens to him”
It was more a statement than anything else. She wanted you to know that you had hurt him.
You could do nothing but nod.
“I know… Would you believe me if I said I didn’t mean too?”
She shrugged.
“Calm down sis, everything is okay now. I got her back and that makes me happy, so just, let me enjoy this. Okay?”
“Okay”
The conversation continued, and as the day became night, the two of you got more and more entangled in each other.
You spent most of your days together. You met his parents and were introduced as his girlfriend. At no point did you regret taking his hand that day, in fact you’d fallen more and more in love with him for every day that passed.
He spoiled you with food, flowers and gifts. You spend the days waking up to him and his ruffled hair that you loved so much.
And as time went on he opened more and more up to you. He was an influencer, and you’d never expect to be with someone in that profession and enjoying it.
He kept you somewhat secret from the world, the two of you had decided that it would be best to stay in your bubble for a little while longer. But you helped him with his content, and as time went on he shared more and more of your lives together.
He shared datenights, and how he was typically seated between your legs as he played playstation and you read a book.
You were one soul, separated into two people, who had finally found each other. And those around you thought you were a little too smitten with one another, and they kept warning you that people usually had to burst that ‘new romance bubble’ at one point.
But somehow it just never happened for the two of you. You could talk about your day to day life, lay in silence and just study each other's faces, you could cry as you opened up about past traumas, and you made love whenever you felt like it. It was perfect, the two of you together were perfect.
At one point you were filming out on the terrace of his parents house. Sun going down behind him, and him wearing nothing but shorts and sneakers. He looked beautiful in that golden light.
He waved at you, and you waved back. Revealing nothing but your manicured hand to his viewers.
“You look beautiful darling” He said and sent a smile your way and your only response was to laugh.
And then you felt it. You weren’t one to pass out, and it didn’t feel like you were about to. But something changed in that exact moment, and you couldn’t quite figure out why. And when you would, it would already be too late.
He saw how your smile dropped in an instant, how your eyes panicked and instantly found his.
“Y/N…?” You could hear the desperation in his voice.
“Promise me you’ll find me out there” It was all you could muster to get out, it was all you said before you saw him running towards you. And then everything went black.
When you woke up, the darkness were still surrounding you. You were just laying there eyes closed for a few minutes as you tried your best to recall his features. But all you remembered were the hair, the hands and the feeling of him. The rest of him were a blur. You couldn’t even remember his name.
You found your phone in the bed. 06:45 it read.
It felt like you had lost someone precious, it felt like you had lost your heart, and in its stead were now a black hole filled with nothing but emptiness and pain.
You had no idea how to get started with this day, it felt like you should stay home and mourn the loss of him.
Maybe he remembers, maybe he will find me out here… you thought.
But how could he? He was after all only a figment of your imagination, he was after all only a character in your dream. But he felt real, and you could do nothing but hope that someone would ever love you as much and as unconditionally as he had.

Chapter II
✦•┈๑⋅⋯ ⋯⋅๑┈•✦๑┈•✦
Your sobs were slowly starting to fade and realization hit you. Your head felt heavy as you broke the hug Heesung was holding you in, his warmth leaving your body. You were starting to feel embarrassed of the state you were finding yourself in , not being able to even look Heesung in the eyes.
“Let’s go wash your face, some water will help you calm down.” he spoke before you got to say anything, picking you up in his arms and carrying you to the bathroom.
While he let you down, it took effort to stay still on your own two feet as you were still drunk and you felt your body shaking from all the tension flowing through it. Just as you were grabbing the edge of the sink you let the cold water run , taking a small glance in the mirror in front of you, not so surprised with your messed up look.
Heesung was leaning onto the door rim outside , waiting for you to come out, flinching when he heard the door unlock.
“Feeling a bit better?” he asked slowly, his gaze following yours through his glasses. Concern didn’t leave his look , constantly feeling the need to check on you.
“I’m sorry Heesung , I’m sorry you had to see me like that.” you said, finally gathering the courage to look at him.
“ I’ll be okay, I’ll deal with it by myself , don’t need to worry about me..” you continued, tears filling your already red puffy eyes , trying to form a reassuring smile, but failing.
“I’ll just go back to my room.” you said in a defeated voice “Sorry, you must be tired and i held you back.”
You were used to bottle up your emotions and not talk about it, you didn’t like the idea of being a burden to anyone. Always put on this facade of an energetic and fun person ,yet you had a lot of issues that you chose to deal with on your own. It was probably your upbringing, your parents always making it obvious and pointing out moments of when your bad mood “influenced” theirs.
As you were trying to leave without a word back from him , he grabbed your hand to make you look at him.
“Are you being serious right now y/n?” he sighed.
“ You barely talk to me in months , I’m worried that i may have wronged you in some way , you start going out more and more with some random people, at the most random hours ,to later find out that they’re the shadiest boys I could ever imagine . “
he stopped to look at you , then continued
“Do you even know how much I had to pressure Sunghoon into telling me what was going on? Only to find out about that Taeil junkie?? And now I see you come back home like this because of him. How could I not worry?” Heesung said as if he was scolding you.
“Let’s stop it here Hee, I’ll get myself out of it the same way i got myself in.” you said wanting to wrap it up.
Why was he being that pushy? Although you were friends you were never this personal with one another. What was his reason?
Heesung went on asking “Why did you even get yourself into that? Why him?”
You were starting to get irritated “Why would you even care Heesung? It doesn’t concern you. We never talk about these things , why do you suddenly care?” you replied wanting to get out of there already.
“Agh i need to get some air” you continued as you felt a throbbing headache and nauseous. You left Heesung standing as you rushed through the living room right outside the balcony, not before grabbing the pack of cigarettes from your bag, not the smartest choice, yet you felt the need.
You probably came out as mean but you just wanted him to stop asking questions, you couldn’t bare the idea of telling Heesung your reasons , why you ended up in this state.
Heesung didn’t let this go so fast, following you to the balcony. Just as you were about to lit your cig ,he took it out of your mouth, making you look at him “Be for real right now i know you smoke too, give it back.” you said reaching for him , no use though, he was way too tall and you were sitting down.
“Y/n please just talk to me. Stop avoiding me, stop avoiding the situation like this.” he replied not wanting to leave you alone without an answer.
“I can’t Heesung , I don’t want to talk about this , especially with you.” you told him ,quickly looking down at your lap, tears were already starting to run down your face, frustration was taking over you.
“Why? Why not with me? Did I do something wrong y/n ? Please say something ,I can’t leave knowing you like this.” he asked crouching down at your height and grabbing your hands in his, begging you to look at him. Seeing you like this was unbearable for him , seeing you cry made him cry.
“Because of you Hee , because I like you , damn it , I like you Heesung!” you finally said “I threw myself into his arms to repress those feelings, because i felt like you wouldn’t think of me like that…” saying that, your eyes finally met.
Heesung stood there seeming to process it all, eventually cupping one of your cheeks and getting closer.
“Why would you think that y/n? Did I ever say that ?” he spoke in a low voice , with you looking at him as if you were in some kind of trance.
“God y/n i’m literally in love with you!”
he continued
“I’ve been liking you since fucking high school. Why do you think I’m almost going insane seeing you like this, trying to find a reason for your hurting and fighting demons to not go and rip Taeil’s head off right now.”
You froze.
Your heart started racing, it was pumping so hard you thought it might leave your chest at any moment ,and him being so close that you could feel his breath, wasn’t helping . You couldn’t believe the words that came out of Heesung’s mouth.
It was uncommon seeing him like this, you were used to private and quiet Heesung, whose only purpose in life were academic achievements, always minding his own business; yet this whole time he was nurturing feelings for you?
“Why didn’t you tell me anything for so long Hee? I ended up in this situation because you seemed so unreachable to me yet so close.” you said in a somewhat upset, shaking voice “I felt like I shouldn’t weigh you down with my feelings.”
He shoke his head “I was the foolish one y/n ,I couldn’t bring myself to confess to you, I thought it might change things between us.”
“ If you were to reject me, I thought things might’ve become awkward, I thought i did the right thing ,everything just so I can remain close to you.” Heesung replied hoping for your understanding , but you just stood there , unable to say anything.
“I was so stupid y/n , I should’ve told you earlier , if I did , this wouldn’t have happened. I should’ve done something once I saw you change” he went on, begging for your reply with his eyes. “Say something please, hm? Talk to me, please y/n” but your sobs couldn’t let you form a sentence, all you did was go in for a hug, his big figure covering yours.
“Kiss me Heesung…” you barely said
“Hm..?”
you pulled away looking into his gaze
“Just kiss me Hee, please…”
As those words left your mouth the boy in front of you didn’t take time to think twice before taking his silver glasses off and pulling you into deep kiss. His soft lips felt warm as they touched your red swollen ones. One arm was grabbing your cheek while the other was holding your waist pulling your bodies close together. Heesung slowly pulled away wiping your runny eyes with his thumb then kissing both your eyes , your nose, then lastly your lips again.
“How about that cigarette now?” Heesung said smiling, making you burst out laughing.
The look of him smiling was making your heart flutter, you thought he had the most beautiful smile you’ve ever seen. You fell hard for him , but you fell harder for that smile.
You were now shyly cuddled next to Hee on the balcony couch , watching the clear night sky together. He quickly put a blanked over your body as he saw you shaking and let your head rest on his shoulder. You were talking to him about everything that has happened since uni started, how things between you and Taeil went , and especially you talked about tonight. You could basically hear Heesung’s blood boil since he was constantly fussing around and loudly exhaling as you went on talking about everything.
“Sunghoon told me about how he often saw him snort in the bathroom , at almost any party or meetings. He was starting to get more worried as he saw you get closer to Taeil, that’s why he eventually told me.”
Your stomach dropped, this has confirmed your thoughts.
“So he was indeed high the most time he was with me…” you said , realizing that 90% of the time that man has gotten private with you, he was under the influence.
“I feel sick.” you continued , disgusted by what you had to experience.
“ I’ll kill that shithead” Hee exhaled as he put his hand over your shoulder, pulling you closer to his body.
Not after a good 15 minutes Heesung turned his head only to see your asleep figure slowly snoring on his shoulder.
After he took his sweet time admiring your silly look and taking a few pics, he giggled a “Cute” as he carefully picked you up and carried you to your room upstairs. He was holding his breath as if even a dust particle would wake you up.
He meticulously laid you down on your baby pink silk sheets only for you to grab his hand as he was about to leave your side.
“Don’t goo, sleep here, with me Hee ” you mumbled
“Hm? I can’t y/n i don’t have any pjs with me” he whisper-laughed
“So? Take some of Anton’s , he has ton shit of clothes” you said with your eyes still closed and not wanting to let go of Heesung’s hand
“But-“ he tried to say
“Ughhh no buttt, pleaseee” you whined
“Ok but you gotta let me go first” he chuckled , leaving to go get some of your brother’s clothes. In the meantime you struggled to change into some more comfortable clothes too, before jumping back into your queen sized bed.
Cuddling Heesung wasn’t on your bucket list for the night ,but there you were , wrapped around in his arms listening to his heartbeat, providing the comfort you didn’t think you’ll need so bad.

Fated To Be...
Enhypen OT7 x afab! reader
Wordcount ≈ 5k
Warnings: talk of (Y/n) almost dying, angst, mention of committing suicide, mention of wanting to die,
Summary: (Y/n) has a choice to make, forgive Enhypen for everything they did or walk away and stay alone for the rest of her life. Are they Fated To Be Together? Or Fated To Be Alone?
While writing this I was listening to 5SOS’ “Story Of Another Us” so I would recommend listening to it while reading!
We have reached the third and final part of the Fated series. Thank you for all the support on this and I hope you like this part too.
Taglist: lol6sposts, @lene03, @tamii4, @soobawrz,
Part 1, Part 2
Please reblog!
Third person POV
“Don’t you think you guys have done enough already? What more could you possibly have to say?” Moa came running out with hers, Kyle’s, and (Y/n)’s things, just as Jay asked (Y/n) the question. Moa was furious. For the first time in so long, (Y/n) was finally happy and they just had to ruin it. “(Y/n), please, please, hear us out,” “I-I-” (Y/n) tried to say something but she couldn’t get further than saying ‘I’.
(Y/n)’s heart was beating so hard it hurt, her lungs were struggling to work, she couldn’t breathe, and everything was spinning. “Please, we’re sorry, we know we messed up,” Jungwon said as he took a step closer to (Y/n). (Y/n) flinched, trying to move closer to Kyle in order to get away from Enhypen. Kyle noticed and moved in front of (Y/n) to shield her, Moa ran over to her soulmate and her best friend, giving Enhypen a nasty glare. “Don’t you dare come closer to her. I don’t care how sorry you are, you’ve done enough, you almost killed her, where were you then? Where was this remorse when you told her to ruin someone else’s life?” Moa’s words were filled with hatred and malice toward the boys. “She almost died?” “Yes, because of you,” Moa didn’t give them any more information, only emphasizing that it was their fault it happened.
“Can we meet up tomorrow and talk? Please, we don’t want to lose (Y/n), again” Heesung tried as he looked at Moa, understanding that right now, it wasn’t (Y/n) they were negotiating with but with Moa. Moa was thinking, would (Y/n) want to meet with them? Once she had some time to think it through, she might want to. “Give me a number I can reach you at, if she’s up to it, I’ll message you, if you don’t hear anything. Assume that she doesn’t ever want to see you again, because of what you did,” “Thank you, here, this is my number,” Sunghoon walked toward Moa giving her his number. All the boys could do now was hope that (Y/n) would say yes to meeting with them.
Kyle and Moa helped (Y/n) walk away from Enhypen, stopping a bit away to call a taxi. When the trio came back to the hotel, Moa told Kyle that she would stay with (Y/n) that night to make sure she would be okay. Kyle understood and said that if they needed anything, he was available. Once inside, (Y/n) lay down on the bed, feeling numb. And confused. Very confused. “Come on, (Y/n), you need to get out of the dress and remove your make-up,” “Moa,” “Yes?” “I’m lost,” “I know, I get that. It’s okay. For now, let’s get ready for bed and sleep. Clarity will come in the morning,” (Y/n) got out of her dress as Moa got some cotton pads and make-up remover. Soon enough, the two were lying in bed, fast asleep, as they held each other close.
* The next day *
When (Y/n) woke up, Moa was still sleeping. (Y/n) got out of bed and got dressed in some comfortable clothes, she wrote a note to Moa saying she was heading to the roof for some fresh air. As she got up to the roof she took in the city that she once loved. (Y/n) thought about the past, everything she had been through. The happiness of finding each set of initials on her body on her birthdays, the excitement of finding out she was fated to be with Enhypen, and then the heartbreak of being rejected.
“Did I do something wrong in a past life? Or did you mess something up, Fate? I thought the soulmate thing was supposed to be easy,” (Y/n) spoke out into the morning breeze, No one else was on the roof so she was alone to speak her thoughts aloud. “Can I come past what they said and did? Should I forgive? Do I want to forgive them?” (Y/n) stood on the roof for an hour, part of it thinking of her life and part of it she just watched the buzz of the city.
“(Y/n), how long have you been here?” Moa had woken up and found the note, so after getting dressed she walked up to the roof to find her best friend. “I don’t really know, maybe an hour?” Moa walked over to stand beside (Y/n), looking out over the city. “How are you doing? After yesterday?” “I’m sad we had to leave so early, Jaehyun’s probably disappointed so I’ll have to explain what happened to him. And regarding the guys, I’m confused. Some part of me wants to just forgive them right now while another part of me wants to leave the country again,” “That’s reasonable, there is always going to be a part of you that feels connected to them, and there’s also always going to be the part of you that was betrayed by them,”
(Y/n) turned around so that her back was now facing the edge of the building. She let out a loud sigh. “If you were in my position, would you meet with them? Talk with them?” Moa stayed facing the city, looking around at all the buildings and the people. “I don’t know. I know I am furious with them as your best friend and I want nothing more than to scream at them, but if I was you in this scenario? I don’t know,” “I feel so thorn, Moa, I feel like my brain is splitting in two from the different opinions in my mind,”
Moa turned her head toward (Y/n). “If I were you, I would meet with them. Hear them out, and then, decide whether they deserve a second, or actually third, chance. Personally, I don’t think they deserve it, no matter what they say. But at the end of the day, it is up to you to choose,” (Y/n) looked into Moa’s eyes for a few seconds before looking back down toward the floor. “Text them and tell them that I’ll see them. I want it to be somewhere private, somewhere where it’s only us, no outsiders, I’m sure I’ll cry and I don’t want to cause a scene in public,”
~ Three hours later, at Enhypen’s dorm, Third person POV ~
The Enhypen members were very happy when Sunghoon’s phone dinged, showing a text from an unknown number. It was from Moa. (Y/n) would meet with them. After reading the request for a private space, Sunghoon responded by asking if their apartment would be okay as it was very private. Moa said that it would be fine and so the boys sent their address to her, and then they waited.
As (Y/n), Moa, and Kyle arrived at the building, in which Enhypen lived. Jungwon was waiting by the entrance to help them get inside. Jungwon greeted the trio but only received a low ‘Hi’ from Kyle. Neither (Y/n) nor Moa said anything. For the last three hours, (Y/n) had been thinking over what she should do. She was very thorn over her own feelings.
A part of (Y/n) was thinking back to her younger self, before the soulmate marks, who dreamed of meeting her soulmate or soulmates. The little girl who dreamed of love, of connection, of the kind of love she saw all around her between the soulmates in the world. Another part of (Y/n), can only think of the pain, the hurt, and the feeling of losing herself after being rejected. Yet another part of her is thinking of the future. A future where she does forgive the boys and they get together, living happily with each other. But also, a future where she can find love in someone else, someone who never hurt her, love with someone who cares about her just as much as Moa, love with someone who has known the same kind of pain that she has felt. What is the right choice? What is she supposed to choose?
The elevator ride up to Enhypen’s apartment felt like it took hours even if only took a mere 3 minutes. (Y/n) felt her palms becoming a little sweaty, her breath becoming a little choppy, and her eyes were suddenly finding it hard to focus. (Y/n) felt like she was standing in front of the whole world with two buttons to choose between, if she chose the red button she would end world hunger, if she chose the blue button she would end the climate crisis. That’s the amount of pressure, anxiety, and stress she was feeling.
Inside the apartment, the other boys were waiting anxiously. They hoped that (Y/n) would give them a new chance. One they wouldn’t fuck up. They knew that they had no power here, not really, all they could do was speak from their hearts and hope for the best. Jungwon was gradually becoming more and more worried after inspecting (Y/n)’s facial expression and body language in the elevator, it didn’t look good for them. The members' heart rates instantly picked up as the door opened and (Y/n), Moa, Kyle, and Jungwon stepped inside.
The air between the ten people in the room was tense, no one was speaking or moving as they all sat around the large dinner table. (Y/n) was focusing all her attention on trying not to cry and to keep her body from trembling too much. Her mind was still going to war with itself because of her conflicting feelings and thoughts.
Moa was the first to speak, a chill was sent down the Enhypen members' backs as she spoke with an angry tone. “Apologize then, if you’re not going to speak then we’ll leave, we have better things to do than just sit here,” (Y/n) looked toward Moa, feeling a little relieved that she wasn’t there alone. Had she been alone, she would have been a crying mess by now.
“We’re so sorry, about everything. When we first met (name) we really thought she was our soulmate, even if we didn’t have the true reaction to her she said she had the reaction. And we believed her. By the time we had figured out it wasn’t true, we had already fallen in love with her. We thought that we would never meet our true soulmate so it would be fine to stay with the woman we loved.” Heesung began explaining. Just the mention of (name), made (Y/n)’s heart hurt, she clenched her jaw tighter to hold back her tears.
“She was very controlling, afraid we would leave her. She told us countless times that she loved us and that she had left her true soulmate for us and we should do the same for her if we ever ran into our true soulmate. We were blinded by love so we made her that promise,” Jay continued. All the boys were visibly clenching their jaws and some even their fists, silent tears were running down their cheeks. (Y/n) couldn’t look at them anymore, so she faced the table, trying to shield her eyes from their view.
“We truly believed that things would work out and everything would be fine, we loved each other and we loved her, we didn’t understand how much we were really missing the final piece of our puzzle. The moment we met you, we felt things we had never done before but we couldn’t admit it. We just couldn’t hurt (name), we were so blinded that we hurt you instead because we were under her control,” Jake was full-on crying as he spoke, he struggled to get the words out.
“Being around you, felt like the beginning of spring, when the sun begins to thaw away at the snow and all the flowers prepare to bloom. Like a warm summer breeze dancing through the leaves and over the ocean waves. The more we felt toward you, the more we pushed you away. The more we wanted you, the more we hurt you. When (name) found out that we had met you, she told us to have you fired or even kill you, that if we dared to accept you, she would kill herself,” Sunghoon continued. Moa who at first was looking at them like they were worth nothing now held a softer look in her eyes as the truth began to settle in. They still caused (Y/n) immense pain but they suffered too.
“Even if we began feeling the soulmate bond toward you, we still had feelings for (name), and we didn’t know what to do. We were torn between fate and free will. Looking back at it, we should have just talked with you, and explained the situation, but we were driven by (name) to stay with only her,” Sunoo tried wiping away his tears as he talked, his eyes were red and swollen from the tears. As were all the others. Even Moa and Kyle had begun crying as they listened to Enypen explain why they did everything they did.
“So we pushed you away, we hurt you, and told you we hated you. That was a lie, all of it was a lie but we were like marionettes. Though we can’t put all the blame on (name), we had a choice and we chose the wrong option. Not too long after you left, we found out that (name) had been lying to us. She hadn’t rejected her true soulmate, no she was still with him but she pretended to love us in order to get money. We immediately broke up with her and threw her out. It wasn’t until then that we understood what we had done to you. It was like we could finally see clearly, and we deeply regret everything we did,” Jungwon was finding it hard to speak as he had so many emotions swirling around in him, love, hatred, sadness, hope, and many more.
“We are so sorry for hurting you, we are so sorry for everything we said and did. I wish we could say that it wasn’t us but that would be a lie. And we don’t want to lie to you or hurt you anymore, never again. We know that it’s almost impossible for you to forgive us, we don’t deserve to be forgiven. But we want to apologize and make it up to you. Could you find it in you to give us one more chance? A chance to prove our love, if you do, we promise to never hurt you ever again and we promise to give you all the love in the world. Because that’s what you deserve,” Niki was the last of the seven boys to speak. He, just like (Y/n), was facing the table as it was too hard to look at anyone else.
(Y/n) took in everything they said. None of it helped her reach clarity on what she should do. Forgive them? Leave them? She was still just as torn. They admitted to feeling the bond yet they hurt her as badly as they did, that hurt more than if they hadn’t felt the bond at all. Yet her heart yearned for them as they too had suffered from the situation, (Name) had abused and used them. Her head felt like it would explode any second now from all the thoughts.
“Would it be okay if (Y/n) and I went out on the balcony for some air? So she can think about her decision without feeling your eyes on her,” Moa asked as she stood up from her chair and gently helped (Y/n) to stand, supporting (Y/n)’s almost limp body. The boys said yes and opened the balcony door for the two girls. Once outside, Moa helped (Y/n) sit down on the little couch on the balcony and sat down beside her. Moa embraced her best friend in a gentle hug as (Y/n) began crying hysterically.
“Cry all you want, take all the time you need. This isn’t an easy choice, if you need more time, days or weeks, take that. No one would blame you for it,” (Y/n) just tightened the hug as she cried some more. For 15 minutes the two girls sat outside holding one another close as they cried. Moa hated seeing her best friend so weak and hurt, and all she could do for her was sit there and hold her. A tiny knock was heard from inside, Moa looked at the door to find Kyle standing there with two cups in his hands signaling to ask if he could come outside. Moa waved him over and he walked out.
“I brought some tea out for you, it’s a little cold outside and I was worried,” “Thank you, darling,” (Y/n) let go of Moa as she heard Kyle’s voice. She couldn’t say anything but she gladly took the cup of tea from his hands and took a few sips. The warm liquid soothed her throat. “Do you want me to get you some blankets or something else?” “Yes please-” “Could you just stay here with us?” Moa was about to answer her soulmate’s question but she was interrupted by (Y/n). “Of course, if you want me to stay, then I’ll stay,” Kyle sat down on the other side of (Y/n), he might not have the same bond with her that Moa did but he still cared deeply for his soulmate’s best friend. (Y/n) was like a sister to him.
“I don’t know what to do, a part of me wants to just leave because I can’t forgive them, another part of me wants to run in there and hug them and forgive them. A third part of me wants to jump off the building so I don’t have to choose,” (Y/n) continued sipping on her tea and crying as she tried to explain her feelings. Kyle looked up at the sky before he let out a deep sigh. “Of course, you would be torn on the matter. It’s reasonable, you are driven by logic and emotions, not one or the other. Your emotions are trying to say that you should give them a chance while the logical part of you can only see their previous actions. These last few years that I have gotten to know you, I have seen the type of person you are, (Y/n). You are the type of person who doesn’t want to hurt anyone, but this choice is difficult because you either have to hurt them or possibly hurt yourself,” Moa was surprised at the way her soulmate was speaking, but happy that he was trying to help (Y/n).
“During these years, you have never once done or said anything that would intentionally hurt anyone. I have only seen you doing everything you can to make others smile even though you have been feeling so much pain. I have never met anyone like you before, someone who is so good through and through. I’m so thankful that Moa is my soulmate because not only did I gain a soulmate, I gained a sister too,” (Y/n) began crying even more after hearing Kyle explain that he saw her as a sister. These tears were happy tears though compared to the frustrated tears she shed a few seconds ago.
“What would you do, Kyle?” “I can’t say, (Y/n). This is your choice. It doesn’t matter what I would do, cause I can’t say. I’m not in your shoes, and I can’t imagine how it would be. All that matters is what you want to do,” “(Y/n), we will support you no matter what choice you make but we can’t make it for you,” Moa chipped into the conversation. (Y/n) let out a loud sigh, staring down into her now empty cup. “I need some alone time to think everything through,” “Alright, we’ll go inside, just give us a wave or something if you want us to come back out or if you need a blanket or more tea,” Kyle said before he and Moa stood up and walked back inside.
(Y/n) got up from the couch and walked over to the fence on the balcony. She stood looking over the city just like she did earlier in the day on the roof of the hotel. The sky was darkening as night was approaching, the sun was creeping down little by little. Logic versus feelings. What should she listen to? Which part is right? Which choice is the right one?
(Y/n)’s POV
As I looked down on the city below, I once again thought of a 5-year-old me who dreamed of finding her soulmate. It was my only dream, my only goal, it was all I wanted. To then grow older and find out I was to have seven soulmates, was intimidating but oh so exciting too. I imagined a perfect world where I met the boys before (name) and we would have a perfect relationship, like Moa and Kyle. I saw the 5-year-old me gleaming with happiness. I also saw the 20-year-old me who was heartbroken. The me who wished the ground would swallow her whole. The me who wished to be removed from this world.
I closed my eyes and felt the cold breeze as it passed by. The cold to some would have been hard to stand but to me, it didn’t even come close to the pain I have felt in my life. The cold was welcoming in a way, helping me weed through the sea of thoughts in my mind. After spending another 15 minutes out on that balcony, I finally reached clarity. I had made my choice.
I walked over to the door, opened it, and walked back inside. The nine people inside all turned to look at me, Enhypen had hopeful looks in their eyes, while Moa and Kyle had concern swirling around in theirs. I stopped a few steps away from the chair I had been sitting on during Enhypen’s apology. It felt better to stand up rather than sit down as I told them what I had decided.
“I have made my decision. It has been far from easy and to this very second I’m still contemplating if I’m making the right choice. Should I listen to logic or to feelings? What you said and did, hurt more than anything. For many days I could barely breathe, it felt like I was suffocating every second of every day. I wanted nothing more than to die, my entire childhood I dreamed of meeting my soulmates and spending the rest of my life with them. You ruined that for me that day. If I couldn’t have that, I didn’t want to live. Eventually, the marks began fading and so did that hopeless feeling. I began to heal, finding value in myself, a reason to live without you. But then fate brought us together again, and I soon found myself enveloped in that darkness once more. The reasonable, logical choice would be to leave and reject you because as you said, you don’t deserve my forgiveness. However, the emotional side of me can’t help but dream of how it would feel to be in love with you and you in love with me. Would it live up to the expectations that my 5-year-old self had? Would I be happy? Could I forget the pain that you put me through?”
The boys were crying hysterically as they listened to me, I was crying as well now that I had taken a break from speaking. My throat was closing up, the way it often does when you try to speak while crying. I hope that this choice is the right one.
~ Logical ending, third person POV ~
“My choice is,” (Y/n) took another deep breath as she looked around at the boys. Heesung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Niki. “To leave, I’m sorry,” (Y/n) broke down, she was crying so much that her legs gave out, causing her to fall to the floor. The Enhypen boys felt their hearts break into a thousand pieces as they heard what (Y/n) had decided on. Moa ran over to (Y/n), hugging her. “It’s okay, darling, it’s alright, shhh, it’s okay, I’m here,” Moa tried to calm (Y/n) down a little, though her attempt was fatal as nothing helped.
After a few minutes, (Y/n) managed to gain some control of herself again. She stayed on the floor but she continued explaining her choice.
“I can’t forgive you. The pain you caused me, it can’t be forgotten. Every moment I spend with you I am reminded of all the words you said and the feeling of suffocating. The feeling of wanting to die, I don’t want to live in that darkness. Because no matter how good the future would be, the past would constantly haunt me. I would never be able to truly live in the light and feel the love that you wish to give me. I can’t go through that again, I can’t nor do I want to. I’m sorry,”
“We understand, it hurts and we’re sad, of course. But we understand, what we did was horrible, I wouldn’t forgive someone who had done that to me either,” Jungwon said. All the boys were trying to say something but they barely managed to form the words “It’s okay” or “We understand”.
(Y/n), Moa and Kyle soon left the apartment. (Y/n) left her soulmates in that apartment, to never see them again. Her heart felt heavy but her shoulders were relieved, a weight had been lifted off of them. She could finally breathe easily. She felt free. Free from the darkness she had been living in since the rejection. Free to live her own life. She didn’t know if she would ever find someone that she could fall in love with, but she was fine with that. As long as she knew that she deserved happiness without conditions, she would be fine.
The initials that once decorated her body were no longer visible. No matter how hard one would search, they wouldn’t find a single trace of a soulmate mark. Her initials that once decorated the Enhypen members’ bodies had faded into nothing too. Only their memories remained, except for those, there was no proof of them ever having an eighth soulmate. Fated no more, fated to be alone.
~ Emotional ending, third person POV ~
“My choice is” (Y/n) looked at Moa and Kyle, trying to find one last push to announce her choice. Kyle gave (Y/n) a small smile and a tiny nod, it gave her just enough courage to finish the sentence. “To give you a chance,” “REALLY?” Jake hurriedly stood up as he loudly spoke his question. “Yes,” The tears were running down (Y/n)’s cheeks like a wild river.
“Through this all, I keep thinking back to the young me who wanted to share this bond with someone destined to be with me. The young me who wanted this so badly that she would stop at nothing to achieve it. I don’t know if I can forgive you but I can give you a chance to show that you can treat me well and that what you did wasn’t the real you,”
They all ran over to (Y/n), giving her a big group hug. Shouting broken “thank you’s” as they cried happy tears at being given a chance. “We’ll be good to you, I promise, we’ll give you all the love we have and more,” Sunoo said. Moa cleared her throat to gain the soulmates’ attention. “You better treat her well, take care of her. If you dare to hurt her again, I’ll hurt you. Do you understand?” “We promise, we’ll treat her right this time,” Jay said as he met Moa’s stern eyes. “Good, (Y/n)?” “Yeah, Moa?” “Kyle and I will leave now, we’re going back to the hotel. Wanna come with us or stay with them?” (Y/n) looked around her at the seven boys who still held her close in a hug. “I’ll stay, I’ll call you tomorrow,” And so Moa and Kyle left, leaving the eighth soulmates to mend their wounds together.
With time, all wounds can heal. Enhypen did as they promised. (Y/n) and Enhypen lived happily together, moving toward the future and away from the past. The eighth of them were happier than ever and soon enough, they barely remembered the pain they felt in the past. Fated to be together, fated forever.

Chapter Three ♡ You Know
wc: 3.1k
cw: insecurity, talking bad about yourself, like one curse? let me know if there’s anything else to tag
Masterlist | Prev | Next
Heeseung’s car is black and sleek, leaving you wondering just how much being a famous idol pays. Sure, you’ve seen the Prada brand deals and Elle photoshoots, but the seat-warmers in his car have you questioning how big the divide between his life and yours must really be.
Without GPS, Heeseung drives with his left hand on the wheel, a surety in his grip and gaze. With his right hand, he offers you the aux cord. “Feel free to put on anything.”
“Is this a test?” You ask jokingly, surfing through your Spotify likes. “If I put on shit, will you kick me out of the car?”
Heeseung barks out a laugh as he twists around in his chair, looking behind while reversing. “Well, if you don’t put on shit, you have nothing to worry about, right?”
You consider putting on an Enhypen song to tease him, but eventually settle on a song that suits the steadily approaching evening hours. Heeseung nods in approval as you adjust the volume, settling his hand on the console so that it’s only millimeters away from your own. A comfortable conversation settles between you, but throughout the entire drive, you wish you had the courage to move your hand just a little bit to the left. Then the sleeve of his hoodie rides up, and you’re reminded of the soulmark that’s inked into his skin. You can’t. You shouldn’t. You don’t.
You’re surprised when Heeseung takes you to an aquarium. Heeseung tugs a black face mask over his mouth and nose before bringing you to the front, obviously prepared to hid from the general public. There’s a sign in the front advertising a special overnight sleepover experience, targeted mostly to families, and some pamphlets at the front desk celebrating the birth of a new dolphin. To your surprise, Heeseung whips out two tickets from his pocket and hands them to the information desk to tear off the stub.
“When did you get that?” You ask him, a bit shocked at his forward planning.
Heeseung shrugs, not meeting your eyes. “They were a gift from someone, and I figured I’d use them before they expire.”
The pair of you walk through the entrance and are immediately greeted with tanks filled with fish of all different colors and sizes. It’s been a while since you’ve last been to the aquarium, and you find yourself mesmerized as you enter the tunnel where sharks swim overhead with their bellies on display. There’s a special dark section for jellyfish, and Heeseung listens to you coo over the seahorses with interlocked tails. Eventually you reach the dolphins, and both of you are surprised when one of the mammals swims up to Heeseung and follows him as he walks.
But it’s the penguins that give you the biggest surprise, as Heeseung stops you right before moving on and tugs you toward an employee-only door. He flashes his tickets once more to the employee, as you’re surprised as the worker leads you inside the penguin exhibit.
“Your friend bought you two tickets to the aquarium and the special penguin experience? Are you sure said friend wasn’t hoping you would bring them instead of me?”
Heeseung chuckles at that, patting you on the head before gently leading you to walk in front of him, a hand on the small of your back. “If Jake wanted to see the penguins at the aquarium, he could’ve brought himself.”
You’re led past a couple lockers, each given a pair of latex gloves, and there are two small plastic stools that they invite you to sit on while waiting. With his long legs, Heeseung looks rather scrunched, and you stifle a laugh. The employee brings out a bucket with a noticeably fishy smell and kneels down as some of the penguins start to make their way over, squawking in anticipation.
“They’re so.. cute,” you marvel as they waddle closer.
“Yeah, from this distance they look nothing like Sunghoon,” Heeseung holds a hand out, as if willing one of the penguins to come up to him.
“Sunghoon? Is that one of your members?”
As the penguins crowd around the fish bucket, the employee starts dropping the fish down their gullets in an obvious practiced motion. After the initial ravenous rush fades, the employee gestures for you both to come over. Cautiously, you dip a hand into the bucket and hold out a fish for an attentive penguin just in front of you. Eagerly, it nibbles on the fish before eventually pulling it out of your hand and swallowing it.
Heeseung takes a different approach, as he grabs a fish and raises it in the air high above their heads. He flicks his wrist as if preparing to throw the fish, and a group of five penguins follow the motion, bobbing their heads in anticipation. “Don’t be mean to them!” you scold, but both of you are giggling at their innocent reactions. Finally, he tosses the fish directly into the beak of a taller one in the back.
The employee, you finally think of looking at the nametag, Minjun, starts pointing out the penguins and naming each of them. You’re both a bit amazed at his ability to tell all the penguins apart, but it’s all in the small details, he explains. “Each African penguin has their own unique pattern of black spots on the stomach. They’re also weighed frequently to watch for weight fluctuations, and we can also tell them apart by height and any injuries they may get from playfighting.”
You’re hanging onto Minjun’s every word, your mouth a little open in awe as Minjun points out that Suzy, one of the littler penguins, has only 6 freckles in a little dipper pattern, while Tuxedo is much taller and has a chip in his beak from an accident. Suddenly, you hear a shutter click, and glance over at the culprit, Heeseung. He’s not taking pictures of the penguins, but rather is grinning at what seems to be a picture of you.
“Delete that!” you whine, reaching out to grab his phone. Unfortunately, as if you’re now the penguin, Heeseung holds the phone high over his head, way out of reach.
“Hmm, I don’t want to, though?”
Minjun laughs at your antics. “Do you guys want me to take a photo of the both of you with the penguins?”
On reflex, you start to decline, “That’s okay—”
“Yes, that would great.” Heeseung brings his phone down slightly to hand it over to Minjun, dodging your futile attempt to swipe it during the exchange, and then grabs your hand, dragging you into the crowd of penguins. “Is this good lighting?”
Minjun holds up a thumb before counting down, “Say kimchi!” Wryly, you say the word, barely registering the quick pressure on your check, there and gone in the blink of an eye. When you look up, Heeseung is staring straight ahead at the camera, an innocent smile on his lips, but at this point you know him well enough to know better.
When Heeseung leads you out of the aquarium, it’s half past 8pm, and you were starting to see groups of people laying out sleeping bags in preparation of an overnight experience. You’re glad, at least, that Heeseung’s surprise didn’t involve a sleepover since neither of you appeared to have a change of clothes or toiletries.
Instead, he bought a black cap with a cartoon image of a penguin from the gift shop and put it on your head before guiding you down the street. Heeseung stops in front of a ramen restaurant you don’t recognize, opening the door and gesturing for you to walk in first.
The place is absolutely hopping, with booths pushed against the wall filled with groups of university students and families, and businesspeople hogging seats at the bar in various states of “thank fuck the workday is over.” Heeseung pushes his own cap further down his face, adjusting his mask before addressing the hostess, asking in no uncertain terms to be sat in the quietest corner of the izakaya.
You’re led to a corner booth, and Heeseung takes the spot angled away from the view of the door. Before you can sit across from him, he holds his arm out, blocking you, and nods toward the seat next to him. Hesitantly, you sit down, but Heeseung doesn’t move in much, forcing you to sit with thighs touching.
You can only stand looking at the menu for a few seconds, barely registering the different broths offered, before you have to slam it shut, catching Heeseung’s attention and likely the group sitting behind you as well. Before you can lose your nerve, “Is this supposed to be a date?”
“Hmm?” The singer next to you hums, not taking his eyes off the menu. You have the sneaking suspicion that he already knows what he’s going to order.
“First the aquarium, now dinner, and don’t think I’m so stupid I didn’t feel your kiss during that picture. I thought we were just going to be hanging out, but this is starting to feel more and more like a date.” As the words spill from your mouth, you realize you’re a lot more upset than you thought. But your father’s words are starting to echo in your head, and the ache that pulses stronger and stronger in your chest is making it harder to breathe.
You haven’t told Heeseung that you’re a baseborn, a person without a soulmark, yet. Would he still want to go out on a date with you if he knew that you were a defective person, someone who could fall in love with him and not have a soulmate to fall back on? Because that’s all this can be, right? A lonely man who’s only filling in the time before he crosses paths with his soulmate once more, and you the perfect distraction.
Would he still want to go out on a date with you if he knew that you had met his soulmate and yet had done nothing to help them reunite?
Against your will, your eyes start to water, and Heeseung finally looks up in time to catch you conspicuously rubbing away any evidence of tears. He sighs, his hand coming up to cup your face. “Now what’s this all about? I thought we were having a good time together.” His thumb gently unrolls your bottom lip out from under the grip of your teeth.
“I can’t be on a date with you.” You rasp out.
“Then it’s not a date,” Heeseung soothes. “Just two friends, feeding penguins then feeding themselves. How does that sound?”
You close your eyes and take a deep breath, secretly savoring his tender touch. But it’s not the right thing to do. When your eyes open once more, you place your hand over his and gently move it back onto the table. “That, I can do.” Heeseung shifts over, giving you more room to sit, and the rest of the night is filled with slurping and strained small talk.
It’s almost a week later before you see a member of Enhypen again. This time it’s a face no less handsome than any of the others, but the mole beneath his eye is only barely familiar to you. A prickle of amusement rushes through you when he introduces himself as Sunghoon, and you remember that each penguin has their own unique pattern of spots. If Sunghoon notices your stifled titter, he doesn’t say anything.
“We have a concert coming up next week. Heeseung couldn’t come himself, but he wanted me to give you a ticket.” The idol takes one of his hands out of his pocket, revealing said ticket.
“That’s very nice and all, but I have to man the bar. I can’t accept this.”
Sunghoon hesitates before pushing further, “He told me to say that it’s on a Monday, and therefore you have no excuse.”
“Did he now?” Rolling your eyes, you turn around to take stock of the bottles on the wall behind you. “Would you like a drink, Sunghoon? How about a bottle to take back to the dorm, on the house?”
The silver-haired man behind you stutters in surprise before shyly agreeing to just a drink. You give him an 8ounce of beer, choosing to indulge in a small sip before handing it over. Sunghoon raises it slightly before sipping as well, but his eyes are inquisitive when he places the glass back on the counter. “Why don’t you want to go to the concert?”
Of course, you want to go to the concert. When given the choice between listening to Heeseung sing and not, you’d love to choose the first a hundred times over. But you can’t ignore the fact that it isn’t as simple as just going to a concert. This is someone you almost went on a date with asking you to come to a concert. Someone that, according to all your father’s teachings, you should be trying to cut all ties with, if only to spare yourself the heartbreak. “Is this normal, Sunghoon? Does the rest of Enhypen go around offering tickets to any random person they meet at a bar?”
“Are you really just a random person to Heeseung?”
With Secondhand currently empty, the only noise that can be heard is your muted and shuffled YouTube playlist. With a bit of irony, you realize that Heeseung’s cover, the one apparently dedicated to his soulmate, is playing. At the very least, you cannot say that Heeseung is just a random person to you.
There’s something frustrating about the way Sunghoon looks at you, indiscernible and soft. Almost pitying. Like he’s figured out something before you have, and yet he’s already said too much. “It’s normal for us to give tickets to our friends and people we care about.” A pause. “Look, no one can force you to come. But it would make Heeseung really happy if you did. Just consider it.” Sunghoon lifts his drink and uses it as a weight to anchor the concert ticket to the table.
He spares you a sympathetic look on the way out. Before Sunghoon steps outside, he slips on a pair of aviators and a black hoodie over his head. His secretive attire makes you feel guilty that he came all the way out here to give you a ticket in person, and you find yourself regretting your bitter attitude towards him.
Against your typical rule: not getting drunk off your own stock, you down the rest of Sunghoon’s unfinished beer before the condensation has a chance to wet the ticket. Out of curiosity, you pick up the ticket and scan it. The seats are floor seats. Not exactly centered, but close enough to the stage that you’d be able to see the group sweat.
“Whatcha looking at?” a voice lilts in front you, and you jump. It’s Gahyeon. You somehow didn’t even notice her come in, and yet now she’s only a few inches from your face, craning her neck to read the writing on the ticket. Instinctively, you pull your hand back, level to your ear. Gahyeon is the last person you want to see this ticket.
“Why can’t I see? And who was that man who just left the bar? Was that your soulmate?” Gahyeon’s mouth is pursed in a sweet pout. Today, her hair is pinned back into a braided bun, and her makeup is glittery gold. “Surprised to see me again?”
You nod truthfully.
“You don’t talk much, do you? Well, I guess that’s what I like about this place. Even if you don’t have food, it’s so much quieter than the bars right next to campus. Not that I don’t like a nice night out, but sometimes you just need time to think!” Gahyeon examines the list of drinks on the blackboard behind you, pointing with freshly painted red nails. “That one looks good!”
You turn around to check which drink she’s talking about, expecting to see one of the new autumn-themed cocktails you added to the list recently in preparation for Halloween. “The ginger pear bourbon?”
In your distraction, suddenly those red nails pluck the ticket right out from your hand, Gahyeon leaning over the counter to give herself extra leverage. “Hey!”
“This is a ticket for Enhypen!” Gahyeon ignores your attempts to grab it back. She holds the ticket right in front of her face, mouthing to herself as she reads each line. “Row A? That’s front row! How did you even get this?”
At her question, you press your lips together until they turn white, clenching your fists by your side.
“How much does a ticket like this cost?”
Honestly, you’re not sure. You can imagine the biggest die-hard fan would be willing to pay hundreds, if not thousands. And yet here you were, given a free gift that you didn’t feel you deserved.
“Can I have this?”
“No.” Almost against your will, you reprimand her and finally make a successful grab for the ticket. When it’s back in your hands, you clutch it to your chest protectively. “It’s mine.”
Gahyeon pulls out the puppy dog eyes, but when those don’t work against your iron defense, she sighs. “Do you remember what I told you when I came in last time? That I’ve been unable to meet my soulmate because he’s a really famous person? Well, he’s actually a member of Enhypen.” Gahyeon pauses, as if waiting for the dramatic sitcom gasp that comes only belatedly as you play your part. She nods when she hears you, satisfied, and continues, “If you give me this ticket, it could be my chance to see Heeseung again. To finally connect with him and solidify our bond!”
Gahyeon’s words are so passionate, with the first sincere spark of hope lighting up in her eyes since you’ve met her. Now that you can see this side of her, you quickly realize that most of Gahyeon’s behavior before was likely a façade to cover up how depressed she was about her situation.
“You understand, right? You have your own soulmate, after all. Won’t you give me the chance to meet mine?”
No, you don’t understand. In fact, you’re probably one of the few people in the world who is not capable of understanding. Or maybe, you just don’t want to. But it still hurts, because even though you don’t understand what it feels like to meet a soulmate, to feel that instant attraction and connection and safety, you know what it feels like to be lonely. You know what can happen to someone forced to live without their soulmate, too.
You know that despite all the love your father had for you, he never loved as much as he loved his soulmate. He just wasn’t capable of it.
It hurts. But you know Heeseung isn’t capable of loving you as much as he could love Gahyeon.
“Okay.” You give Gahyeon the ticket and fake a smile without teeth. “You deserve it.”
“Thank you so much! I promise, I’ll pay you back for this.”
“No need.”
Author's note: back with another update. took a bit of time since I'm adjusting to a new job, even though I had this chapter mostly written. I feel like it's hard to express sunghoon through such a short conversation, but hopefully the date and the angst at the end was satisfying. I'm not trying to write Gahyeon as a villain or anything, but just from a very biased perspective since I'm representing the reader's feeling. Anyway, don't have much to say except hope you enjoyed.
