Here’s my take on the whole audio books vs. reading:
Oral tradition of storytelling predates written ones by millennias, and honestly, which one you like is just a personal preference.
The actual difference is
when listening, you have no idea how to write characters’ names
when reading, you have no idea how to pronounce characters’ names
hope this helps!
#audio books vs reading#honestly this debate is just pineapple on pizza again#personally i like reading better#i’m a poor listener and since i read faster than people talk i get bored and my mind starts to wander#but who gives a shit#just do what works best for you#in the end we all get the same story#oh and this post is about stories in english#in finnish you rarely have either problem

We're not appreciating the Weird Barbie enough. It's said in the movie that she helps everyone who need help while they always see her as someone who's not as good as them. She was friends with all dismissed Barbies and Kens, was there to offer support and safe shelter for everyone who needed it in Kendom, without her nothing in the movie would've been alright. When Stereotypical Barbie calls her "ugly and unwanted" she still helps her.
She was representing a woman in women's world who was pushed aside by other women because she didn't fit in but still had more wisdom and kindness than everyone who thought they're better than her.
#weird barbie#barbie#Barbie movie#everyone looks at her as a queer person i see her as me I'm a straight person who got bullied simply for being different than the rest#but it's beautiful that we all see ourselves in her whatever our story is#cuz that's the point of characters like her#i changed wisness to wisdom sorry english isn't my first language and i forgot which one is more correct

the fact that shakespeare was a playwright is sometimes so funny to me. just the concept of the "greatest writer of the English language" being a random 450-year-old entertainer, a 16th cent pop cultural sensation (thanks in large part to puns & dirty jokes & verbiage & a long-running appeal to commoners). and his work was made to be watched not read, but in the classroom teachers just hand us his scripts and say "that's literature"
just...imagine it's 2450 A.D. and English Lit students are regularly going into 100k debt writing postdoc theses on The Simpsons screenplays. the original animation hasn't even been preserved, it's literally just scripts and the occasional SDH subtitles.txt. they've been republished more times than the Bible
#due to the Great Data Decay academics write viciously argumentative articles on which episodes aired in what order#at conferences professors have known to engage in physically violent altercations whilst debating the air date number of household viewers#90% of the couch gags have been lost and there is a billion dollar trade in counterfeit “lost copies”#serious note: i'll be honest i always assumed it was english imperialism that made shakespeare so inescapable in the 19th/20th cent#like his writing should have become obscure at the same level of his contemporaries#but british imperialists needed an ENGLISH LANGUAGE (and BRITISH) writer to venerate#and shakespeare wrote so many damn things that there was a humongous body of work just sitting there waiting to be culturally exploited...#i know it didn't happen like this but i imagine a English Parliament House Committee Member For The Education Of The Masses or something#cartoonishly stumbling over a dusty cobwebbed crate labelled the Complete Works of Shakespeare#and going 'Eureka! this shall make excellent propoganda for fabricating a national identity in a time of great social unrest.#it will be a cornerstone of our elitist educational institutions for centuries to come! long live our decaying empire!'#'what good fortune that this used to be accessible and entertaining to mainstream illiterate audience members...#..but now we can strip that away and make it a difficult & alienating foundation of a Classical Education! just like the latin language :)'#anyway maybe there's no such thing as the 'greatest writer of x language' in ANY language?#maybe there are just different styles and yes levels of expertise and skill but also a high degree of subjectivity#and variance in the way that we as individuals and members of different cultures/time periods experience any work of media#and that's okay! and should be acknowledged!!! and allow us to give ourselves permission to broaden our horizons#and explore the stories of marginalized/underappreciated creators#instead of worshiping the List of Top 10 Best (aka Most Famous) Whatevers Of All Time/A Certain Time Period#anyways things are famous for a reason and that reason has little to do with innate “value”#and much more to do with how it plays into the interests of powerful institutions motivated to influence our shared cultural narratives#so i'm not saying 'stop teaching shakespeare'. but like...maybe classrooms should stop using it as busy work that (by accident or designs)#happens to alienate a large number of students who could otherwise be engaging critically with works that feel more relevant to their world#(by merit of not being 4 centuries old or lacking necessary historical context or requiring untaught translation skills)#and yeah...MAYBE our educational institutions could spend less time/money on shakespeare critical analysis and more on...#...any of thousands of underfunded areas of literary research i literally (pun!) don't know where to begin#oh and p.s. the modern publishing world is in shambles and it would be neat if schoolwork could include modern works?#beautiful complicated socially relevant works of literature are published every year. it's not just the 'classics' that have value#and actually modern publications are probably an easier way for students to learn the basics. since lesson plans don't have to include the#important historical/cultural context many teens need for 20+ year old media (which is older than their entire lived experience fyi)

“Mom, why do you think ghosts are intrinsically evil?”
“It’s what the science says, of course!”
“No, I mean like, what were the studies? What did they actually observe”
“Ohh, I get what you mean, Danny! Well across all reputable reports of encounters with the ghosts strong enough to matter, they’ve always attacked first and never responded to attempts at communication! There’s no reason for them to do that if they’re not evil!”
“Huh…”
…
Danny, learning about Ghost Speak and how humans can’t understand it: hmm.
Danny, learning that ghosts greet each other and bond by fighting: hmmm.
#danny phantom#dp#my idea of ghost speak is that it’s a language inherent to all ghosts#but that ghosts can still learn/speak other languages if they want#so like danny can communicate with any ghost in ghost speak#but like if. say. tucker wanted to talk to a ghost. that ghost would need to speak english#and danny hadn’t noticed that restriction in others before since he’d never seen a ghost who didn’t speak english converse with a human#danny phantom prompt#dp prompt#good fenton parents#well their quality is not specifically shown here but like#i’m justifying their views on ghosts with a genuinely plausible misunderstanding#if the past encounters had a language barrier and the ghosts defaulted to saying hi by attacking. yeah no shit humans got wary of them.#not specifically dpxdc but ghosts fighting to bond has showed up in a good number of those stories so i’ll add a couple of those tags too#dp x dc#dpxdc#dc x dp#dcxdp

Fiction vs Non Fiction
Fiction consists of imaginative storytelling. The author creates imaginary characters, settings, events, and narratives. Fiction is written mainly for entertainment, exploring themes (means preparing students for the severities of reading and critical thinking), or artistic expression (The art of storytelling that allows an artist to express their innermost thoughts and feelings).
Fiction is all imagination, but it could base on a true story or situation. Novels, short stories, and novellas are part of fiction storytelling.
Fiction and nonfiction are two distinct categories, used for different purposes and employ different narrative techniques. Fiction is literature that is not grounded in real-life events. It represents the writers' imagination.
Nonfiction represents factual stories. It represents people, information, or events that happened in real life. Fiction encompasses mystery, romance, fantasy, magical realism, thriller, science fiction, crime, and horror. Most of the time, fictional stories include multiple subgenres like science fiction and horror, fantasy and romance, thriller and crime, etc.
In nonfiction, authors represent accurate, verifiable information. It educates and persuades actual events and occurrences in the past.
I'm a fiction lover. I have been reading fiction since childhood. At Streetbuddy Stories, you will see beautiful short stories.
These stories are for people of all ages. From children to adults, all can entertain themselves with our short tales. My review and rating out of 5 of these stories are below.
1 – Betrayal in the Pack. This short story is about a wolf pack. This story revolves around a traitor who breaks the bond of two wolf brothers and makes them lose their territory. I have read many long wolf stories. I'm a lover of wolf stories, that is why I like this story. I will rate this story as 4 out of 5.
2 – Dealing an Unexpected Clint in Ticket to Hell Corporation: This is a new thought that the writer represented in this flash fiction. It is a conversational story, but the author presented that even the Devil requires God's blessings and permission to continue their deeds and enjoy success in their business. I will rate this story 4.5 out of 5.
3 – Why is it difficult for many to achieve success? In this story, the author explains the crux of achieving success. It is a short story, but it provides a big lesson to the youngster for success. I would give it 4 out of 5.
4- A Giant Mushroom: The fictional story about a tree that grows on Socotra Island in Yemen. This story explains how that rare tree grew in a place other than Socotra Island. The author put a lot of fiction in this story. For me, the story is 5 out of 5 because this story provides information about a tree that is near extinction.
5- She Got Roasted provides a lesson on learning the art of roasting. The story also displays the negative impact of humor on people. According to me, this story deserves 5 out of 5.

hear me out, danny speaking russian (dc x dp hc)
so i was just watching a video about space, right? allegedly, turns out if you (an american) wanna board the international space station you must speak russian fluently since the only way to get there is by a russian shuttle and pilot (nasa apparently ended their own shuttle program way back when??) (don’t quote me on this)
so picture danny learning russian at a relatively young age for the sole hope of going to space and such, and it coming out every once in a while when he’s mumbling or something like that (it’s basically second nature to him)
so danny ends up at gotham for whatever reason (demon twins, reveal gone wrong, idc, they’re all cool) and he wants to start anew, so he pretends to only speak russian?? ig?? it’d make for some funny/interesting BatFam interactions i suppose
i don’t know where i was going with this but i want to read prompts of danny speaking russian
#danny phantom#dpxdc#dcxdp#dp x dc#dc x dp#one of the bats walks up to him like#dude you’re not supposed to be at an abandoned warehouse why are you here#and he just says the russian equivalent of no habla ingles#what’s funnier is that they’ve seen him talking in english with literally everyone else#he only speaks in russian with the bats#and it drives them NUTS#and he’s having the time of his life#i think the first time a bat spoke to him he was a bit sleep deprived or something#but he isn’t danny COMMIT TO THE BIT fenton for nothing#dc x dp crossover#dp x dc crossover#story prompt#dp x dc prompt#dc x dp prompt#bat family#batman#bruce wayne#alfred pennyworth#dick grayson#jason todd#tim drake#stephanie brown#damian wayne#cassandra cain#duke thomas
