Time for a new pinned post!

Welcome to this blog about Monty and Henry, two men who fell in love in 1912 and spent decades together, living in New York and travelling the world. And about their cat 'Enery!

We, two history buffs and authors, hope to tell you about their adventures. It is a sweet story with tender and funny moments, but there will be angst too. A little introductory post can be read here.

Doesn't Jon become a dead man later?

Me: This is bait. No one wants to read this. You don't want to write this. Just ignore it.

Also me: Yippee-ki-yay, mothafucka!

I didn't get hit by the "this is foreshadowing" sensation for this scene before, but I did go back and read it. In addition to dead man, we have the "fighting shadows" / "cowards who kill from the shadows" comments, and Jon does call himself the man in the shadows who dare not speak his name and they are lines about shadows that indicate how much impact one will have and since Jon casts a huge shadow there...it might be something, especially as it includes her dragons which are becoming a little uncontrollable by her. There's meta by @une-nuit-pour-se-souvenir about how the dragons correspond to a nephew Jon & Rhaegal, Aegon & Viserion, so maybe Jon is being brought into the picture here. We also have a mention of the usurper's dogs which is fun as well as her treasons. The chapter ends with the bones of a child murdered by dragons and is followed by a Jon chapter, so there's enough that we can Jon is "present" although I didn't feel clobbered by it.

I would agree that some mentions of dead men or the stranger are intentional references to Jon though. Whichever end of the mostly dead -> all dead scale you think Jon will be on, he's the character with "death" as an identity hanging on him. I would also assume that regardless of the actual facts surrounding his rez, just as Robb (and Sansa and Dany...) had wild rumors flying around about him, Jon will have them as well. So it will not only be the reader but also characters in-world who have that perception of him.

Anyway, there is a specific Dany chapter in ASOS that feels like foreshadowing overall, and that I believe, contains several references to Jon, including the use of dead man. First, we have Dany feeling like a god and trying to escape "the dead man's revenge":

Up here in her garden Dany sometimes felt like a god, living atop the highest mountain in the world.

The honey drew flies, but a scented candle drove them off. The flies were not so troublesome up here as they were in the rest of her city, she had found, something else she liked about the pyramid. "I must remember to do something about the flies," Dany said. "Are there many flies on Naath, Missandei?"

The dead were heaped so high before the broken gate that it took her freedmen near an hour to make a path for her silver. Joso's Cock and the great wooden turtle that had protected it, covered with horsehides, lay abandoned within. She rode past burned buildings and broken windows, through brick streets where the gutters were choked with the stiff and swollen dead.

A fly buzzed her head. Dany waved it off, irritated, but it returned almost at once. "There are too many flies in this city."

Ben Plumm gave a bark of laughter. "There were flies in my ale this morning. I swallowed one of them."

"Flies are the dead man's revenge." Daario smiled, and stroked the center prong of his beard. "Corpses breed maggots, and maggots breed flies."

"We will rid ourselves of the corpses, then. Starting with those in the plaza below. Grey Worm, will you see to it?"

"The queen commands, these ones obey."

"Best bring sacks as well as shovels, Worm," Brown Ben counseled. "Well past ripe, those ones. Falling off those poles in bits and pieces, and crawling with . . ."

"He knows. So do I." Dany remembered the horror she had felt when she had seen the Plaza of Punishment in Astapor. I made a horror just as great, but surely they deserved it. Harsh justice is still justice. (ASOS, Daenerys VI)

Then Martin inserts her worry about another betrayal and her belief that she will meet a man she can trust:

Her bloodriders were waiting for her. Silver bells tinkled in their oiled braids, and they wore the gold and jewels of dead men. Meereen had been rich beyond imagining. Even her sellswords seemed sated, at least for now. Across the room, Grey Worm wore the plain uniform of the Unsullied, his spiked bronze cap beneath one arm. These at least she could rely on, or so she hoped . . . and Brown Ben Plumm as well, solid Ben with his grey-white hair and weathered face, so beloved of her dragons. And Daario beside him, glittering in gold. Daario and Ben Plumm, Grey Worm, Irri, Jhiqui, Missandei . . . as she looked at them Dany found herself wondering which of them would betray her next. The dragon has three heads. There are two men in the world who I can trust, if I can find them. I will not be alone then. We will be three against the world, like Aegon and his sisters.

A knight swears fealty to her and then she meets with Jorah and discuses betrayal again as well as her three treasons:

"Kissed me, she thought, betrayed me." "I went down into the sewers like a rat. For you." It might have been kinder if you'd died there. Dany said nothing. There was nothing to say. "Daenerys," he said, "I have loved you." And there it was. Three treasons will you know. Once for blood and once for gold and once for love. "The gods do nothing without a purpose, they say. You did not die in battle, so it must be they still have some use for you. But I don't. I will not have you near me. You are banished, ser. Go back to your masters in King's Landing and collect your pardon, if you can. Or to Astapor. No doubt the butcher king needs knights." "No." He reached for her. "Daenerys, please, hear me . . ."

and of course, we have the talk about her family/the taint/madness to just beat us over the head here about what's coming.

So, if we think this is foreshadowing, in one chapter we have Dany trying to escape the consequences of her violent actions (burning KL) and those consequences are called "the dead man's revenge" (Jon ref), and we have a line to prep Dany to trust a certain guy (Jon again), and then a talk with a guy who betrayed her (Jon references, I'll talk more about Jon & Jorah in my second part of the Bear and the Maiden Fair ask, if I ever find my draft), and Dany misunderstanding her treasons.

Dany's "madness", Dany burning KL and seemingly escaping consequences/far above the reach of mere mortals, meeting Jon and being betrayed/killed by him (not because he loves her as she interpreted the warning, because he loves others and betrays her for them), seem like a plausible outcome from this. Obviously there is foreshadowing for enmity between them elsewhere too, but it doesn't take much drawing to connect the dots and conclude, much of this chapter is about what is to come.

So, yeah, I def think a “dead man” is gonna be very bad luck for Dany!

BACKSTORY :

Raya was a Heart royal from Kumandra and descended from a long line of beast tamers and weaponsmasters. Her family still upheld the tradition of draconic languages before it had been lost 500 years ago. She initially carried the weapon of the Maiden of Resilience in the form of a dragon pendant which she gave to her enery, former friend, and future Royal Consort. She was tasked with bringing the dragons back.

This was necessary in order to stop the Druun, former animal companions of Kumandra who'd been corrupted, from wrecking havoc. Namaari, her rival, had somehow gotten her hands on the gem of the dragons and almost broke it, in which Raya revealed her abilities and with Namaari's help, healed the jewel.

She also learnt of Namaari's queendom's traditions as Namaari was not a magic wielder nor had the capacity for using magical items. The queen of Fang, Virana, teaches Raya how to harness such abilities.

POWERS/ABILITIES :

Enhanced regeneration and senses - Sahil can regrow limbs and recover more quickly from attacks. She also has more muscle growth and increased height.

General weapons/martial arts mastery - This allows the Maidens of Resilience to not only hone and enhance their fighting abilities, but increase the success of their attacks.

Shapeshifting - Mind reading

Metal-crystal manipulation - This enhances Sahil's UM. This ability differs with each Maide and adjusts to their skill levels.

FAIRY GUARDIAN | FAMILIAR :

Vedadian is the guardian and jinn connected to the Maiden of Resilience. Vedadian often takes the form of a cross between a panther and a dragon - a chimera of sorts. They look similar to a druk and black panther combined with hints of indigo and teal in their fur and scales.

They are known for being boisterous and sharp-witted, but incredibly secrettive and calm. They are fiercely protective over their maidens.

Hawi (former maiden - was actually chosen by the Maiden of Perseverance)

Sahil (current maiden)

Everyday, or almost everyday, you saw a white haired man walk by the shop you work at. At first he would just pass by looking at the plants very quickly.

You loved being around flowers and nature that is why you worked in a flower shop. It gave you nice feeling seeing your little plants grow healthy and big!

As the seasons went by differente and unusual flowers began to bloom. that seemed to picik his interest a bit more. The man tried to look for longer, but his companion - dark haired man - always pulled him away.

So, one day you took the opportunity that the other gentleman wasn't quite around yet and gave the white haired window shopper flower - you gave him a white lilium.

The man was so ridiculously happy that you couldn't help but giggle:

??: Thank you mademoiselle! It is a beautiful flower!

Y/N: you are welcome! Why don't you stop by anytime soon?

??: I can??

Y/N: Of course! Your n-

You couldn't finish your sentence. The man got dragged away but the other one. all you could do was wave at them.

Some time went by and you did not see him again. You cannot lie that you were slightly upset - you missed seeing his overjoyed face glued to the window.

While you were tending to a young plant in the back room you heard the bell ring and your workmate welcome someone::

WM: Welcome! what may i help you with?

??: Hm... I was looking for a nice person that gave me a flower.

WM: A... nice person?

Upon hearing that, you peeked through the door - it was that gentleman ! You smiled to yourself and made your presence known:

Y/N: Hello! That would be me!

The man's eyes shone so brightly again:

??: Hi! I came to see more flowers!

Y/N: Sure! I am Y/N and you?

??: My name is Noé! Nice to meet you!

you could feel your workmate glare in the back of your head. But Noe's enery was so intoxicating that you couldn't help, you smiled and giggled a lot.

He was very much interested on many plants - regardless if they had flowers. You chose one that pcked his interest the most and gave him a flower in the end of his tour:

Noé: Y/N, can i have it?

Y/N: Yes!

Noe: Are you sure?

Y/n: 100%! it's a thank you gift, for coming by. just don't spread it!

He smiled warmly at you. You waved him goodbye and as soon as you did so, your workmate came right at your neck:

WM: You know we are not allowed to give samples right?

Y/N: Yeah, i know. But he looks so happy!

WM: Even so... you need to tough it up!

They bumped their fist playfully on your shoulder. You know they mean well if management finds out, you are in trouble.

With time, you saw Noé around many times and each time you tried to slip him a flower.

But he started to deny the gift and insisted on buying them - sometimes he got bigger bouquets.

He came whenever he could and that means sometimes he got around closing time. When that happened he would walk you home.

A sweet gesture right? But it got better. He started to buy some flowers and give it to you after taking you home.

Noé observed which ones were your favorites - you talked more happily and your eyes shone very brightly as well.

You ended up loving his presence! But as much as you guys chatted - and you even found out the other man was called Vanitas - you didn't know much about Noé.

He did share his story, but.... it felt like something was missing, he sometimes flinched before sharing more with you.

Naturally you got curious, but never pushed. If he wanted to tell you he would, even though it sting a bit all the secrecy.

When you least expected it, he told you what he neglected to before - he is a vampire.

Noé was a little hesitant and nervous about your possible reaction, but then, he noticed you weren't scared. Not at all. You a little surprised, sure, but took it with many questions - how often he drank blood, what it tasted like, if he truly needed to drink it and so on.

He answered all your questions to best of his abilities. After all the questioning you had one last question, or better, a request:

Y/N: Noé?

Noé: Yes?

Y/N: if... if you ever need it you can drink my blood.

Noé: !! I... are you sure?

Y/N: Yeah, I mean, I would gladly help you...

The man pondered for a bit and smiled at you. The next moment he was holding your hand gently:

Noé: Can I give it a try?

You nodded. To be honest you anticipated pain, but as he gently pulled your sleeve and bit your arm, you didn't feel any pain at all.

It felt oddly relaxing and you felt like your knees would let you down. Before you actually fell down, Noé had stopped drinking your blood:

Y/N: D-does it taste... weird?

Noé: No, you taste quite sweet... I am found it!

You blushed furiously at his smile. Sweet huh? You were happy he liked it that meant he would come to see you again right?

He had told you he would take much of your blood not that often since you had to stay healthy.

You understood it. But each time you were tending the plants, your mind would fly out to him.

Slowly but surely, you realized you were in love with the vampire. You just wondered if he liked you too, whenever doubt would haunt you - wheter he truly liked you or was just taking advantage of you - it was blown away by his constant visits to the shop.

Definitly cared for you. Definitly.

Nine.i reaction: First date

This is my first nine.i reaction. So i don't really see any people writing for them so i wanted to do it my self. I looked up some more information about them and based the dates on their real live hobbys and intrests. Also please support seowon, winnie and jiho on boys planet. I didn't do any gifs as noramal because i couldn't find one of each member.(English is not my first language)

Jewon ->

Cooking date. Would meet with you at his house. He would have the ingridients ready for you. Would cut everything himself because he would be to scared that you hurt yourself. After finishing the meal you two would eat it with a movie or series on. If you're making dessert he would put some wipped cream on you're nose.

Eden ->

Ice cream date. He would take you out to go get some ice cream. Would get you any flavor you want. He is going to try your ice cream. And if you want or not you have to try his favorite. If you go and take a bit of his he will maybye maybye not smash his ice cream in your face. Don't worry he will gladly clean your face.

Winnie ->

Library date. He would take you to the local library to read together. Is going to buy a bunch of snacks beforehand. You will talk about your favorite books. He might be so enthusiastic that you both will get kicked out of the library. Feeds you the snacks he brought while you were reading. He would get your favorite drink from the vending machine once you're done eating.

Minjun ->

Ballet date. We all know how much he loves ballet. He would rent a little studio. He would teach you some of the basic steps of ballet. Would be the proutest ever when you did it right. If you also did ballet for a longer time he wants to make a duet with you. After he would tell everyone about how amazing you were at ballet.

Vahn ->

Studio date. He would take you to his studio. He comes to pick you up around the evening so you could also eat together. Gets you're favorite meal. He plays his unreleased songs for you. You two would also sing along to some other songs. He would quickly get some ice cream for you if you want a dessert. And it would be overall a hangout.

Vari ->

Movie date at home. Gets the boys away for a night. Sets up the whole couch in cute pillows and blankets. Buys a lot of snacks. Makes some popcorn for you. Their would be a finger touching moment with the popcorn. Gives you a teddy bear before the movie begins. Yawns and puts his arm around your schoulder. If you put your head on him he would litterly meld.

Seowon ->

Spa/ makeup date. He loves to do makeup. Does a little bit of spa things with you first. Like does face maskes with cucumber on your eyes. Then goes to do your makeup. He is going to make you the priettiest you will ever see. Teaches you a little about makeup. Aftherwards has a little photoshoot with you. Shows the other members your pictures and talkes alot about them so the members would go crazy because of him.

Taehun ->

Karaoke date. Takes you to a karaoke bar. Would pour all of his enery into the songs. Definitly wants to do a few duets with you. He is going to secretly record you singing so he could show everyone later. Is going to order a lot of delicous food for you but so you can keep the energy up. Would absolutly love it if you have the same energy as him. He would absolutly walk you home at the end of the night.

Joohyoung ->

Picnic date. Meets you at the local park. He would try to make food but fails. So he just ends up making some simple sandwitches and order some food. Makes the cutests setup ever. Needs to take pictures of the food and maybye also you. If you're done eating you would just sit and joke around for a bit. Trys to secretly hold your hand.

Jiho ->

Zoo date. Poor baby would be super nervous. Gets you two some matching head bands of your favorite animal. Really enjoys watching the animals and you. Gets you every souvenir you want. Buy a lot of delicous food for you and him. Expect him to take alot of pictures of you together, the animals or just you.

and hmmm 2023 was an interesting year overall. i got into a new hobby (which is making beaded jewelry) and i got a new job (wild bc its not related to what i studied at all) and i learned that everything truly does work itself out eventually. i think i wanna spend more time next year not worrying about every little thing and maybe work on healthy habits 💀 LMAO
