Okay, I’m gonna break this down once and once only because I’m very tired and watching this discourse is driving me bonkers.
It is biphobic to tell someone that they’re not really bi because they’re in a relationship with someone of the opposite gender. Bi people are no less bi for dating someone of the opposite gender. And bi characters are also no less bi for dating someone of the opposite gender, HOWEVER -
It is NOT biophobic to critique the way that this is done in a work of fiction. Characters are not real people, and there is a history of bi characters in mainstream media being portrayed via certain stereotypes:
hypersexual cheaters
they say they’re bi (or they “don’t like labels” but that’s a whole other can of worms) once, and then the source material never touches the subject again, allowing a straight audience to ignore it
And people - mostly bi people, from what I’ve seen - saying “hey, this kind of feels like they’re just going to brush [character]’s bisexuality under the rug, and we’d like to see better rep” is not biphobic! Saying “this relationship that they’re pushing feels weird to me and I don’t like it” is not biphobic! Saying “hey, it seems like by having this character state once that they’re bi and then end up with a woman and never touch on the subject again, the company is trying to have their cake and eat it too, trying to pander to LGBT viewers without also losing their homophobic audience, and while it’s a start it’s also not really enough, especially given the genuine progress coming from much smaller creators” is not biphobic!
People are allowed to express their bisexuality however they see fit. Characters, especially those coming from a large media franchise, are subject to critiques that real people are not. This is basic shit, guys. Come on.

My puppy refuses to play fetch with a ball, but he WILL play fetch with one of my dad’s size 13 crocs, so that’s been fun

Does anyone know where that post went that was talking about humor in lotr, how tolkien contrasted high/formal language with casual retorts
It was very funny and I want to read it again

The puppy seems restless. Hm, I think, better take him outside and see if he needs to go to the bathroom. I take him to the backyard, he doesn’t go. I bring him back in. He continues to be restless. He proceeds to pee on the kitchen rug. Okay, I think, that’s my bad, I didn’t leave you outside for long enough, and maybe you’re more used to going in the front yard. I take him out to the front yard to see if he still has to go, and he tries to make a run for it, almost getting to the end of the driveway before I catch him and put him in the grass. After a couple minutes, he goes pee again, and I praise him and go to head inside. He makes another break for it. I grab him. He makes a third break for it. I grab him and bring him inside. I put him in his gated off “puppy zone” and go to try and find cleaning supplies for the rug; almost as soon as I’m out of sight, he starts crying. He hates being alone. I decide to sit next to puppy zone until he calms down and goes to sleep, and then clean up the rug. He doesn’t calm down, even when I refill his food dish - in fact, he starts howling. I remember my dad saying something about how he howls and circles when he needs to go out to poop, so once again, I decide to take him outside. To the backyard because I am not dealing with runaway puppy again. We go out, and it takes him several minutes to remember that he has to go, but he poops. Great. I take him back inside, and try to get him back in puppy zone, but he’s sniffing the carpeted stairs in a way that has me suspicious he still has to go, so back out to the backyard. Turns out he didn’t have to go potty again, he was just very energetic and wanted to explore.
Finally, after nearly an hour of this back and forth nonsense, I get him back up to puppy zone, where he promptly flops down and goes to sleep without any hesitation. And yes, I could start cleaning now, but I’m worried I’d wake him up and he JUST nodded off.
Otis, I love you, but you are a full time job 😂
