Uncharismatic Fact of the Day

Although it has no true governing power, the Emperor of India butterfly certainly deserves its royal title! More commonly known as the Kaisar-i-Hind in Hindi and Urdu, this species is renowned for its bright green wings. This color comes from microscopic structures called photonic crystals, which scatters light to create a vibrant, iridescent color.

Posting something for #summerbuggin24 - a #purpleemperor #butterfly . It seems there are a few Purple Emperors - this one is the Japanese or Great Purple Emperor, Sasakia charonda.

@rosemaryrain364 submitted: We found this beautiful pupae in the garden. My dad is digging a drainage gutter across the back and unearthed it. After a few pictures it was returned, hopefully no worse off for being disturbed.

I think it's a type of Sphinx moth, but can't be certain.

This other guy was crawling up the outside wall of a local coffee shop, no vegetation nearby. I hope it made it! Likely a Hackberry butterfly.

That caterpillar is absolutely precious. Definitely one of the emperors, but hackberry and tawny look the same to be so idk. But the pupa is definitely a sphinx. Maybe an obscure sphinx.

Was thinking of those other ideas @artistcaptainbendy and I shared and I had to get it out of my system.

We were in agreement that the lycans should be just people turned into Goofy... or Goofcyans (Goofcyans?) if you will. The idea was so hilarious and I couldn't stop giggling over drawing it. And yes, the inspiration was from that one nightmare sequence from A Goofy Movie (which I admit scared me as a kid, but hey I made good use of that trauma now).

I also wanted to do an official reveal of the lords... and once again, find some humor in the situation. It was probably obvious who the Mother Miranda equivalent was going to be, and then I had an idea of who I wanted for the Duke. (Side note, his va has played the game–I watched his playthrough with a certain friend of his awhile ago.)

(Also, keep an eye out for hidden Mickeys.)
