Desmond hadn’t been in town very long, only a few weeks which was really a blink of an eye when he had eternity, and some of that time had been spent getting settled in at WFUS. Not much needed to be changed there but he’d made some tweaks and started his own show. That was all running smoothly now but he was still getting the lay of the land. Today, he’d found a record store and had been drawn in, since it was hard for him to resist the pull of music. He still had a record player, of course, since he enjoyed the sound, and wondered if there would be any rare finds here to add to his expansive collection.
While browsing the sections, the door opened to admit another customer and Desmond happened to glance up, not expecting anything, but just to take in the new person then go back to his browsing. He was shocked to find that it wasn’t a new person, or at least, the man looked strikingly like Emmett...or Desmond’s memory of him, at least. It had been over nine centuries, after all, and he didn’t exactly have photographs from that era. It seemed impossible that it actually could be his little brother, he’d lost all of his family long ago, but Desmond was still compelled to walk over and say something to the man. Maybe if he heard his voice and it was wrong or the man stared at him with blank incomprehension then at least he would know it was just a strange coincidence. Over the centuries he’d noticed that some people could look strikingly like others from a time long gone and Desmond was prepared for that to be what this was.
“This will seem strange, but you look like a relative of mine. Just to confirm you aren’t him, your name isn’t Emmett, is it?” That would be a strange coincidence indeed if he turned out to have the same name which meant he might be...but Desmond wasn’t going to bother putting any hope in that fleeting thought.

I Could Show You Better || Cleo & Emmett
Cleo smiled wickedly, shutting her laptop and hopping off her queen-sized bed. "Mom?" she called, for the first time in weeks praying her mother wasn't home. Usually Cleo was out all night every night, coming home in the very early hours of the morning, if at all. And when she was out, she wanted her mother to be home, that way she didn't have to worry about running into her on the street or something. It was just easier. But today was different. Today she was hoping that her mother was spending the night at a friend's house or something, anything to keep her out of sight -and hearing distance- for the next few hours, at least.
Cleo had been talking to Emmett, the only guy on the football team she had ever really taken notice of, for the past few hours and he was now coming over so she could "show him her talents". She was surprisingly excited about him having agreed. Cleo had had Emmett on her to do list for quite some time, now. After a party sometime during junior year, she recalled. It was just something about him that intrigued her that night. And after tonight, she could finally cross his name off. Not that she would ever tell him that, though! God, no. She never let her prospects know that she wanted them almost as much as they wanted her, sometimes more. That would ruin everything because then they would think that she actually felt something for them and get attached. It was just a hassle. Cleo was in it for the sex, and that was it.
Once she had searched the whole house, not finding a trace of her mother, she headed back up to her room to wait for her guest.
