Ever since the newest episode, I’m still surprised that Emma Samanda is a ninja, in what appears to be the best plot twist in an anime I’ve seen in a while.

Emma looks absolutely beautiful with that ninja armor of hers.

watched the latest episode of ninja kamui last night with my dad

when i tell you i sobbed

It was fairly obvious "Emma" was both the traitor ninja and the voice on the phone ever since her name was revealed to be on that list,

but what I didn't realize until this episode was that all the Auza mech suits have limited internal batteries that run on countdown timers like EVAs and they have to periodically plug in to recharge, which probably wasn't an issue considering they didn't expect to be up against anyone who could last until the power ran out.

When the series inevitably reruns I'll have to go back and see if the timers were always visible in their HUDs...

Also, wasn't expecting the New Opening or the apparent midseason upgrade he's getting. Although I was wondering what the Kamui in the title was referring to...

I'm interested to see what "Emma" meat when she was talking about the reactor. I mean I figured she just took it from her own suit, but it doesn't seem like her battery ran out any faster, he just beat her to the charging plug.

(Still not sure how I can pass a verdict on Ninja Kamui, had an interesting if standard first episode then like three boring episodes in a row with a peak in hype around the Emma reveal and her backstory then kinda lulled out again with a couple bumps during the Zai fight and a a cool if incomprehensible ending so it's probably an 'okay if you turn your brain completely off' anime I guess, still haven't found any Toonami Crunchyroll anime that have been any good all the way through and kinda hope they slow down on producing in the future and get back to licensing hype stuff, like we're so far behind on Demon Slayer and Mob Psycho as well as a few others, Zom 100 is a good start but Toonami's having a hard time staying relevant on the anime front)

Ninja Kamui EP#01 - After being ambushed and attacked by a group of masked assailants, Joe Higan is questioned by FBI agents Mike and Emma for an investigation into the murder of his family.

Lycoris Recoil EP#04 - Nothing seek, nothing find: After unsuccessfully trying out Chisato's rubber bullets, Takina decides to aim at non-vital organs with regular bullets at Chisato's suggestion. Chisato decides to take her shopping for clothes, and visit a restaurant and aquarium, as she wishes for Takina to get used to her life outside work. When asked by Takina, Chisato explains she voluntarily refrains from killing, and left the DA in order to search for somebody who helped her ten years prior. After enjoying her time with Chisato, Takina begins embracing her life outside the DA. Meanwhile, Mika and Yoshimatsu meet again, and Mika wonders why Yoshimatsu has never admitted he is the one who inducted Chisato into the Alan Institute, but Yoshimatsu says it is against their policy. As Takina and Chisato return to LycoReco, a terrorist named Majima opens fire on a subway train, only to be ambushed by a Lycoris team inside, who guns his men down. Cornered, Majima detonates explosives to cover his escape. Robota contacts him, offering his help in combating the Lycoris, but Majima refuses. After the government covers up his attack as a train derailment, a frustrated Majima resolves to hit an even bigger target which will be impossible for the government to cover up.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Entertainment District Arc EP#12 (38) - Things Are Gonna Get Real Flashy!!: Tengen finds Hinatsuru on the outskirts of the district, having poisoned herself to escape but remaining unable to contact him. Battling Daki by himself, Tanjiro tries to use his Hinokami Kagura but realizes the fatigue on his body is preventing him from fighting effectively. Elsewhere, Inosuke discovers an incredibly narrow passageway under his House, leading to a cavern that appears to serve as a holding cell, full of obi that Daki has used to absorb her victims. This obi turns out to be an entity that can function independently from Daki's body; Inosuke first attempts to slay it but decides to prioritize freeing the people trapped inside. Overwhelmed, he nevertheless manages to free Suma and Makio two of Tengen's wives as well as Zenitsu, all of whom assist him in his fight, before being joined by Tengen himself.

Highlighting the Tower of God Anime’s Top Shelf Voice Cast

  Shortly after the Tower of God anime adaptation was announced as a Crunchyroll Original, the folks behind it came through with the first staff and cast reveals. We already covered the former, so it's time to turn our attention toward the voice talent that will be bringing SIU's WEBTOON series to life. 

  The main characters revealed so far include Bam, Rachel, and Headon, offering up an impressive mix of veterans and those with lighter, but nonetheless impressive, résumés. Let's start off with the character voice actor Taichi Ichikawa describes as "a pure and honest boy."

  Bam - Taichi Ichikawa

    Ichikawa's comments were first shared along with the initial cast announcement. He went on to say Bam is "single-mindedly devoted to Rachel" and grows from his powerless state as the tower throws more tests at him and his friends help him out along the way. 

  Taichi Ichikawa has grown from a supporting cast member to lead voice talent over the past few years. He played Kengo Nakata in a handful of HINAMATSURI episodes in 2018, and voiced Hagel in a few eps of If It's for My Daughter, I'd Even Defeat a Demon Lord in 2019. More prominent roles came into play around the same time, including Kurogo Kurusu in Kabukibu!, Hayato Urabe in MAJOR 2nd, and Seiji Maki in the anime adaptation of Nio Nakatani's yuri manga Bloom into You. 

    Like Ichikawa, we're excited to watch Bam's journey and listen to his own corresponding growth as the series progresses. 

  Rachel - Saori Hayami

    Actress/singer Saori Hayami has an absolutely stacked list of credits to her name, including a ton of major roles in series ranging from Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? (Ryū Lyon) to One-Punch Man (Hellish Blizzard), My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU (Yukino Yukinoshita), Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (Shinobu Kochō) and Oreimo (Ayase Aragaki), among many others. Chances are, you've heard Hayami's voice in something, and she's even taken home some tangible accolades for her work. 

  In 2016, Hayami won the Best Supporting Actress Award at the 10th Annual Seiyū Awards along with Shizuka Itou. You'll also find her in plenty of games, voicing a couple iterations of Rider in Fate/Grand Order as well as Leia Rolando in Tales of Xillia, Emma Millstein in The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel series, and more. 

  In her Tower of God comments she said she wants the audience to "pay close attention to Rachel's actions." 

  Headon - Hochu Otsuka

    That brings us to the tried and true veteran of the bunch, Hochu Otsuka, who has been an anime industry staple for decades. If you're into the vintage stuff, maybe you know him as the voice of Yazan Gable in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, or Akira Sendou in Slam Dunk. More recently, you may have heard Otsuka voicing First Lieutenant Tsurumi in Golden Kamuy, Abuto in Gintama, and Sakonji Urokodaki in Demon Slayer.

  Many of you will be most familiar with Hochu Otsuka's role in shaping and training a certain young orange-clad ninja. Otsuka's voice left an indelible impression on countless fans of Naruto and Naruto Shippuden—and even recently in certain episodes of BORUTO: NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS—as the pervy sage himself, Jiraiya. That fact alone makes us excited about how Otsuka will approach the mysterious Headon. 

    When Otsuka commented on his Tower of God role, he said he loves character types like Headon. He's had a lot of fun playing him so far, and we're looking forward to unraveling this enigmatic character alongside him.
