I was convinced it was gonna be an Infinity Train type situation where Gummigoo couldn't follow them through the portal and we'd just see a last glimpse of him in total despair as the Fudge Monster bursts through the gate to eat everyone,

but what we actually got was just more evidence that the non-npc characters are uploaded brain scans rather than live players; Caine can say it as ominously and ambiguously as he always does, but what he's really saying when he says it would be bad if he loses track of which characters are human is that there is no functional difference between an uploaded mind and an artificial one.

At least in terms of how the game processes them. But Caine has to maintain the distinction because unlike the npc's who can just be reused by creating another instance of them, he's hard coded to not have the permissions to alter the human character's minds, so he can't just snap his fingers and reset them- that's why he puts the abstracted characters in the cellar rather than deleting them or reloading them from a backup. He's not allowed to.

One more thing: There was a fan animation that showed the cast saving the abstracted characters only for Caine to snap his fingers and make them vanish when the adventure ended, and given what happened in this episode it couldn't have been more accurate.

#Tokyo Mew Mew #Back in high school one of the girls from anime club leant me the whole set after I mentioned that I had only seen the 4Kids dub #I don't usually read manga but I knew the dub was badly edited like a lot of their dubs were and I wanted to read the original story #While I grew up on Sailor Moon #Tokyo Mew Mew was the first magical girl series I was old enough to actually get into #So it's fitting that it was also the first manga I read
