Took inspiration from Emesis Blue

I was attempting to watch emesis blue while making this and liked the art style so boom here this is.

Ok so into emesis blu spoilers because i am so fucking normal about the movie, along w/ spoilers for Interstellar and Phantom of the Paradise;

The two scenes/plotpoints i think are references to other movies are Spy becoming disfigured (specifically because of how it happens,) and the medic's.. flashback??

When Spy gets burned, he rolls into the river(?) And later comes back with a synthesized voice / mask. I feel SO SO much that it's a reference to phantom of the paradise because the motion of him rolling into the river, combined with the sound of the synthesized voice sounding just like winslow's, i'm almost certain this is a reference to the Phantom of the Paradise.

The medic's flashback I feel like is more.. and less grounded? I think it's a reference to Interstellar, because I know the timeline of the movie folds in on itself pretty often, but the way that the scene is set up seems really similar.
