So Willy Wonka, who is Poe Dameron's son and is in love with Mary Jane Watson, fights Elvis Presley for world domination? And all of this happens IN SPACE? Sounds mad, I'm in!

I think a way to answer this is to go through each movie and look at each "leading lady". Then analyze the odds of them actually sleeping together based on interviews and personal interpretations. Note that when I say leading lady I'm specifically talking about the first woman billed directly after him. I'm mostly basing on what's on their wiki pages so if I missed something feel free to chime in.
Love Me Tender (Debra Paget) - Elvis did have a crush on her but if you see in photos how she interacts with him, Debra didn't really reciprocate. Sure she liked him but more in the "oh he's like my little brother" way. Even though Elvis according to Paget supposedly proposed, she also said that she was simply more interested in Howard Hughes. She even said that she had her mother with her a lot even on the Love Me Tender set. Sleeping with Elvis just doesn't seem likely given those factors so the tally is at 1.
Loving You (Lizabeth Scott) - She technically was his leading lady simply because she's more important to the story than Dolores Hart. Lizabeth was almost 15 years older than Elvis and while that age gap wouldn't be unacceptable, we do know that Elvis generally didn't have girlfriends/lovers who were that much older than him. Also what I'm sure a lot of people didn't know is that around the time of filming Lizabeth was seeking legal action for libel regarding a tabloid expose (link here). Given the amount of attention being involved with Elvis would bring, I don't see her taking that risk as that would also bring the potential for more trouble.
Jailhouse Rock (Judy Tyler) - This is pure speculation since we sadly didn't get an interview with Judy well after the film due to her sudden death right after filming ended. They were friendly even behind the scenes but she had recently married that year. Unless you want to believe she had an extra-marital affair with Elvis, I'm putting the tally at 3.
King Creole (Carolyn Jones) - She was married to Aaron Spelling since 1953 so again unless you want to believe they had an extra-marital affair before Elvis went into the Army, that makes 4.
GI Blues (Juliet Prowse) - We can finally say a leading lady slept with Elvis. Juliet herself said in an interview that she had an intense fling with Elvis involving sexual attraction while they filmed the movie.
Flaming Star (Barbara Eden) - Despite not even appearing that much in the movie she is listed immediately after Elvis so that makes her the "leading lady". Barbara had been married to her first husband for a couple years by the time she met Elvis and I don't even remember there being a story of them even having a casual conversation let alone a spark.
Wild in the Country (Hope Lange) - We know Tuesday Weld and Elvis had a thing but Tuesday is not immediately credited after Elvis so she doesn't count. Hope herself though was married at the time and even though she would leave her husband she did it so she could be with Glenn Ford (who was about as old as Vernon). I just don't see her as having that type of affection for Elvis.
Blue Hawaii (Joan Blackman) - She appeared in two Elvis movies so I'll talk about her here. I believe Elvis liked her enough that he wanted her to be his love interest in Kid Galahad. Even though she was married in the time of Blue Hawaii she would divorce only a few months later by the time of Kid Galahad's filming so I'd say they might've done it then.
Follow That Dream (Anne Helm) - Anne in an interview basically says that they slept with each other regularly given that she said "I had him all to myself every night". Therefore we're only at 3 out of a possible 9 women who slept with Elvis.
Kid Galahad (Lola Albright) - Technically she's credited before Joan so she counts for this movie. Given that Elvis seemed more interested in Joan than Lola I personally don't think they did.
Girls! Girls! Girls! (Stella Stevens) - She has higher billing than Laurel Goodwin so she counts. Stella supposedly didn't like being in this Elvis movie so I'm going to say she didn't sleep with him.
It Happened at the World's Fair (Joan O'Brien) - I don't have proof suggesting either side so I'll just assume they did.
Fun in Acapulco (Ursula Andress) - She was married since 1957 and Elvis supposedly felt intimidated by her. So I think that would mean they didn't.
Kissin Cousins (Glenda Farrell) - Obviously this is a no but I have to include her since she's credited before Elvis' love interests in this movie. Glenda's older than Gladys and she was proudly married to her husband since 1942. I just don't see her as liking Elvis in more than a casual professional manner.
Viva Las Vegas (Ann Margret) - C'mon. Even if she never outright said they slept together, you know that they had chemistry to the point where marriage was very much a possibility at the time.
Roustabout (Barbara Stanwyck) - Surprisingly closer than you think since she was quite active and didn't seem to mind being with younger men as she had a relationship with Robert Wagner when he was only 22 while she was 45. However, I don't think it happened simply because of Elvis' preferences to younger women.
This is about half way through the movies but you get the idea. If at least one of these is fully true then the "only 1 woman" statement is debunked.
“‘He would be trying to promote Shelley Fabares all day on location’, says Sonny, ‘but she just wasn’t interested. She was going with Lou Adler, the man who went on to become a big record producer. When she did marry Lou a little later, Elvis said, ‘She had to go and get married because she knew she wouldn’t be able to go through another movie resisting me”
shelley is a stronger woman than me because I would have folded on the first movie

Tumblr media
You're standing in the rain, the droplets clinging to your eyelashes and making the world blurry. You can't feel the cold, not really, because every inch of your skin is alight with the memory of his touch. You remember the way his fingers traced your spine, the gentle pressure of his mouth against your neck, the warmth of his breath in your ear. Your heart races just thinking about it, your chest tightening, your breath hitching. It's been days since he last held you, but it feels like an eternity.
You know he's watching you from the shadows, his eyes burning with a hunger that's both terrifying and exhilarating. You've seen that look before, in the moments when he thinks you're not looking, when he thinks you can't see the yearning that consumes him. You know what he wants, what he craves. And even though it should repulse you, you find yourself leaning into the darkness, craving the taste of him, the feel of his teeth on your skin. You want to be consumed by him, to become a part of the very essence that makes him who he is.
The rain starts to come down harder, soaking your clothes, making them stick to your body. You shiver, but it's not from the cold. It's from the anticipation, the tension that coils in your stomach like a living thing. You're acutely aware of every inch of your body, every nerve ending singing with the promise of pain and pleasure. You want to call out to him, to tell him to come to you, but you don't. You don't need to. He's already moving, a silent predator in the night, drawn to the scent of your desire.
You feel his presence before you see him, a warmth that pierces through the chill. He's so close now, so close that you can almost feel his breath on your skin. You can smell the coppery scent of his craving, mingling with the musk of his arousal. It's intoxicating, a potent mix that sends your senses reeling. You don't dare to turn around, not yet. You know that when you do, there will be no going back. But you want this, you want him, in a way that defies logic, that defies everything you've ever known. You want to be devoured by him, to be a part of his twisted, beautiful obsession. And when he finally does touch you, when his hands slide around your waist and pull you against him, you know you're lost.
Lee's eyes are a fiery ember in the gloom, boring into yours with a ferocity that steals your breath away. He whispers your name, the sound a dark caress that sends shivers down your spine. His grip tightens, his teeth grazing the sensitive flesh of your neck. You gasp, the sound lost in the patter of the rain. You know he's fighting it, fighting the urge to sink his teeth in and claim you in the most primal way possible. But the battle is a silent one, a war raging just beneath the surface of his self-control. You can feel it in the tremor of his body, the way he's holding himself back. And you want to scream at him to let go, to give in to what he truly wants.
Your heart is racing now, a wild stallion in your chest, galloping towards the precipice of something you can't quite name. It's a feeling that's equal parts terror and ecstasy, a cocktail of emotions that's intoxicating and overwhelming. You lean back into him, arching your neck, silently begging for more. His breath hitches, and you know you've won. The hunger in his eyes is unmistakable now, the beast inside him straining at its leash. But instead of fear, you feel a strange thrill, a pulse of desire that matches the tempo of the rain.
His hand moves up to cradle your jaw, tilting your face towards his. His thumb traces the line of your bottom lip, and you can't help but part them slightly, inviting him in. His eyes flicker down to your mouth, and for a moment, you think he's going to kiss you. But instead, he leans in, his nose brushing against your skin as he inhales deeply. The scent of your blood fills his nostrils, and you can see the struggle in his eyes. He's torn between his love for you and his insatiable hunger. It's a battle that you want to end, a war you want to win. So you take the plunge, tilting your head to the side and exposing the delicate column of your throat. The invitation is clear, and Lee's eyes darken with a need that's so raw it's almost painful to witness.
Slowly, oh so slowly, his mouth descends, his teeth scraping lightly against your skin. You hold your breath, your eyes squeezed shut, waiting for the moment when he gives in. And when it comes, it's like a dam bursting, a flood of sensation that drowns out the world around you. His teeth sink into your flesh, and you cry out, the pain a white-hot spark that ignites the kindling of your desire. You feel his tongue swirl around the wound, lapping at the crimson liquid that wells up. And as your blood mixes with his saliva, a strange warmth spreads through you, a sense of belonging that's more profound than anything you've ever experienced. You're no longer just two separate beings; you're one, connected by a bond that's deeper than mere flesh and blood.
The rain continues to fall, a cacophony of whispers around you, as Lee drinks from you, each pull sending waves of pleasure rippling through your body. You feel lightheaded, your knees threatening to buckle, but his arms are there, supporting you, keeping you upright. This isn't just passion; it's obsession made manifest. And as the storm rages on, you know that you're ready to be consumed by it, to be devoured by the man who has become your everything. The metaphorical cannibalism is no longer a fantasy but a reality, a shared moment of depravity that somehow feels right. Your body responds in ways you never thought possible, every nerve alight with the intensity of his hunger. And as the rain washes away the evidence of your transgression, you know that nothing will ever be the same again. The line between love and obsession has blurred, and you've crossed it willingly, eagerly, into the abyss of his dark desires.

Why are women never the " mothers " of invention .
Like this is an overgeneralidation but men are always " fathers of modern medicine " or creators but women are almost always only called the " mother " of a field or invention when there's also a " father " . A lot of the time even if they litterally created something the men who came after them are still referred to as the " father "
Not to mention the implication of the semantics behind mother and father are completely different due to centuries of stereotyping and sexist systematic bias. Like we think of the " father " of fields or invention as being in control and as a smart capable genius whilst " mothers " are portrayed as nurturing slightly whimsical and barley forward thinking women in modern media .Grandmother also discredits women seeing as unfortunately western culture has created a narrative that elderly women are helpless , cruel or crazy
Like Mary shelly CREATED the sci fi genre but is never referred to as the mother of sci fi but we say H.G Wells fathered sci fi . We are told that Elvis is not only the father of rock and roll and modern music but the king of it - ignoring the fact he stole his songs from Willie Mae Thorton .

HAMBURG I: It's not just that the narrative becomes so ridiculous, it's that as usual all the other evidence we have contradicts it. George talking about punching Stuart. Stuart's letters. The sourcing voids. “The logbook recorded” nonsense, but a few pages before that the “logbook” is long lost, “unfortunately.” It's like Lewisohn forgot his continuity notebook.
But mostly it's the pictures that put the lie to “Stuart was all and Paul was off moping in a corner.” (And incidentally, very jealous of Pete getting all the best birds.)
I'm sorry but give me a fucking break.
One of my favorite AKOM Fine Tuning eps btw

Just bought Parachute Women, Elvis and Me, and My cousin Maria Schneider.
I enjoy reading about women who’ve faced tragedies and hardships but, despite it all, pushed through with influence. Behind every successful man is a smart, beautiful, and complex woman responsible for all his intriguing traits, yet she’s treated like garbage, ostracized, and cast aside. There’s something about a woman who says no, who rebels, who isn’t “ladylike”—people don’t like this energy in women, and it reveals the double standards compared to their male counterparts. We need more novels written by women about women. We need more of their brains, more of their laughter, tears, and passion. Creative, flawed, pioneering women—I need them. Give me more of them.

Women In Elvis Movies
Tumblr media
I have not yet reviewed this movie, but it got me thinking about International Women's Day and how women were depicted in Elvis movies. The range women had were quite small with a majority simply having one character trait: love interest.
There were, however, a couple that stuck out as having more than just that to them. It’s not an exhaustive list but still worth mentioning.
Tumblr media
Glenda is a very interesting character as a woman. Older women like herself usually play generic old maids, naggy wives or school teachers. But Glenda is none of those things. She plays a business manager and if anything is somewhat of an antagonist since she creates a conflict in what Deke wants in life.
Even though she has a romance with Tex and Deke had a bit of a complex with her, romance was not the focus of her character. Business was. It's actually quite progressive for her, an older woman, to be in charge and have a lot of power in this small part of Texas. Her fighting city hall is a testament to her power as she convinced the men to let Deke perform.
Maybe I'm missing a glaring 50s movie that also had this happen, but I don't think women in business outside of the coffee girl or older secretary was ever depicted in film until much later. No one in the movie from what I remember even talked down to her for being a woman. That she couldn't possibly be a successful manager like you would see so called "progressive" films.
Glenda was rejected because men didn't believe Tex could be a success and that Deke was too scandalous to promote. Her being a woman was never the issue which is impressive.
Very underrated character and ahead of her time.
Tumblr media
Mrs. Burton I believe actually has a role that passes the Bechdel Test. When her and Pacer go to the Kiowa camp, she talks with her sister about their safety from the upcoming attacks. While it was not outright featured, the implications involve two women having a conversation that is not specifically about a man.
Mrs. Burton describes her heartache to Pacer regarding her practically being disowned by her family. While it is possible part of it has to do with her marrying a white man and living in a white village, the onus would have been on her choices itself.
Just because she does play a mother, doesn't mean that was all she did. This trip to the camp that ultimately cost her her life showed that she was trying to play a diplomatic role.
Before the town turned on her, she also played a role of a healer. She saved the Howards from dying of a sickness. Her role in the town felt so vital as without her, Pacer was ready to just let the town burn.
A motherly figure for sure but a very well written one.
——————————————————————
I know you’re wondering where Peggy from Jailhouse Rock is. The issue with her is that she’s not that present throughout the movie. If not for her feelings for Vince she wouldn’t have even helped him out. Sure she still is the brains behind the operation but again the main focus is how she personally feels towards Vince. She even admitted that she didn’t care that much about Vince’s financial success but the fact that she was able to do this with him. That still makes her a love interest first written character.
But let me know what you think since maybe I’m missing a great female character that is more than just a love interest.

JUNE JUANICO DESCRIBING HOW IT FELT TO BE KISSED BY ELVIS IN 1955/1956
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They talked in the car for a while, and then he wanted to go for a walk. He took her hand, and there was just enough moonlight that she could watch for the cracks in the pier’s old boards so her high heels wouldn’t get stuck. Suddenly, he stopped. He turned her around so he was behind her and slipped his hands around her waist and kissed her neck. She felt a shock of electricity, and squirmed, but he promised he wouldn’t hurt her. He kissed her tenderly, first her forehead, and each eye, then her nose, and finally her lips. She kissed him back in a way that had a future in it. "Where did you learn to kiss?" he asked, surprised at her passion. "I was just getting ready to ask you the same thing!" she said, and she still remembers what it was like: "Soft, full lips. Nothing too sloppy. Oh! It was just marvelous, a little pecking here and there, a nibble, and then a serious bite. "It started small, and then got bigger, and then went little again before ending up with a lot of eye contact."
