I freaking love Elsword's class system. It's a unique way to handle a diverse roster without flooding it with too many new faces, and an ingenious tool for character development, allowing the writers to explore multiple facets of each one in ways we wouldn't otherwise get to see.

For example, the "tragically dead parents" trope is often difficult to get right, but I think Add's story in particular manages to get away with it because of how Add himself unconsciously carries on his parents' legacies, depending on which path he goes down. In the first two, he takes after his father (Asker), while in the second two, he embodies traits of his mother (Grace).

As Doom Bringer, he actually ends up achieving his father's original goal of creating a war machine by fusing a human with nasod technology. Obviously, the outcome is drastically different from what Asker was probably intending (the biggest one being that Add still retains his sentience/free will), but the concept remains.

As Dominator, while there's no explicit reference to either his mother or father's endeavors, he still ends up taking on a role similar to his father: a figure in authority intending to bend reality to his will. However, again, there's a substantial difference in the fact that Asker attempted to do this in an abusive and controlling way over real people, while Add is depicted as the well-mannered architect of a new virtual utopia, with no interest in commandeering actual humans.

Mad Paradox has the most obvious connections, of course. He's so fixated on his mother that he literally breaks time and space attempting to go back in his own timeline to save her. (Add in general is an interesting example of how time travel apparently works in Elrios, with the stand-out rule that you can't actually go back in your own time, but you can travel to the pasts of different timelines. Too bad this concept is never explored or addressed anywhere else ever. *heavy sigh*...)

And finally, Overmind is the most ironic. He ends up applying his mother's research to his father's philosophy, subtly setting himself up as a "benevolent dictator" over the people he helps, using them as unwitting test subjects in his schemes for...world domination? I don't actually remember what he was after in the end, whoops-

I think my point still stands, though. It's pretty cool!

Apparently at some point, we managed to hit over 2k followers since I last checked this blog! That's crazy to me???

Thank you all for sticking with us through bouts of inactivity, unfunny posts, and all those Elsword updates (the good and the bad!) Here's some fun stats about the blog:

We have a total of 1, 202 original posts since this blog started, and more yet to come in the queue!

All those posts? Yeah there's a total of 87,968 notes between them all. That's like a viral post number.

Our most popular post has 672 notes so far!

The first post was made on April 18, 2015! This blog is the age of a 9 year old child.

In 2020 and 2021, we made 0 posts. Self explanatory. We've posted every year otherwise though!

Since this blog started Tumblr both got rid of the iconic blue, got rid of porn, and also updated us with a dogshit UI, but we all make mistakes. <3

The only mods really left are Mod WT and Mod RF. Round of applause for the mods who have moved onto bigger and better things, for all the funny posts they've made throughout the years, we salute them! We wouldn't be where we are today without them.

And here's some Elsword updates that have happened to the game since the blog was created, in no particular order!:

3rd jobs became a thing

We got an anime!

The item level system was replaced with the Combat Power system, and now character stat equipment is a lot more streamlined.

The magic wardrobe was released so you don't have to sacrifice stats for fashion anymore!

So many new characters and regions have been introduced!

The mystery of Solace and the El Lady has been solved, and the rest of the El Masters have been revealed too!

Multiple dungeon revamps that: gutted earning ED, removed old dungeons, changed dialogue/story as a result, and removing multiple fields and rest points between villages.

4th jobs!

Raids and raid weapons were introduced!

Theres a new blue and white UI!

Mount racing and Pet PvP???

The item mall had a bunch of items removed at some point.

Guilds were revamped!

You can both fish AND farm now!

The in-game economy is in shambles.

They also got rid of forums (but have a discord now?)

Some of these things are really cool! Others? Not so much, but oh well! It's crazy to see how much Elsword has changed over the years this blog has existed. If you still laugh at our funny posts but stopped playing years ago, thank you! And if you just found us the other week, thank you too! We hope to have put a smile on all your faces. :)

Reminiscing about my past… more specifically the first time I experienced transphobia directed towards me by a loved one…

I don’t remember exactly what age I was… either 13 or 14, I was still using mostly deviantart and skype as my social platforms of choice and my favorite online game was elsword

I had been roleplaying for a while by then and 99% of my characters were male so I found myself roleplaying as them… and enjoying the feeling of “acting as a boy” so much so that I told my online friends at the time to address me by a masculine name and “treat me like a boy” it felt… liberating, freeing, it filled me with a feeling that I would only find words for a long while later… gender euphoria.

I didn’t call myself trans, I didn’t say I was a boy, we all treated it more like some gag or bit, some “persona” I had taken on online. I had no one sit me down and explain to me what being transgender was, I certainly had stopped being homophobic half a year ago only so this was all entirely new to me and I wasn’t met with immediate rejection so I kept going while keeping it a secret from my more close friends as well as people irl only because deep down I felt it was “wrong” and I was doing something “I shouldn’t do”

While this happened I also had a very close friend, he was a cishet guy I had met in elsword and we had grown very close! We were both YouTubers at the time and we’d feature our sonas in each others videos all the time and we considered each other family, him being the brother I always wanted and me being the little sister he always wanted… he was 18 I believe? Or at least close to being so, he was very supportive and protective of me and genuinely a good person… even till the bitter end.

One day I opened skype and asked to talk to him about something important, he was none the wiser. I confessed to him how I wanted to be a boy and if he’d be okay with that… it was the first time I verbally acknowledged the fact that I was truly trans, and he was the first person I ever properly came out to.

He said he didn’t like it

He said that no matter what I did or said he could only see me as his little sister, that he didn’t want another little brother in his life… this of course broke my heart, I had very hesitantly come to terms with my identity for the first time and the person I looked up to rejected it without a second thought. I didn’t have an outburst, I didn’t yell at him, I didn’t try to defend myself… I simply said that if he couldn’t accept me then I didn’t want to stay, he kept messaging me after saying that we could maybe talk about it, reach some sort of agreement, I don’t remember his last words but I remember knowing he felt regret as I closed skype and uninstalled it forever.

He never tried to reach out to me through any other platforms after, not deviantart, not youtube, he didn’t even message me through the elsword friend chat in game

And that was the first time I felt someone dislike me for who I was, it wasn’t violent, I wasn’t told I was disgusting, I wasn’t questioned or told that I was mistaken… just told that he’d never see me that way… and somehow that hurt harder than any hate speech would in the years to come.

Just for the record, I do not hate him. I never did. I just feel disappointed even to this day… I hope he’s having a good life despite his hurtful words because for as long as it lasted our friendship left a mark in me, and a good one. The only thing I hope is that he sometimes thinks of me… and that he regrets his words deeply, that he re evaluates what he did and if he ever finds himself in that situation again… he won’t make the same mistake twice.

I don't have any issues with people really but I'm not exactly a extroverted person but I like to hang out via calls or games! When I meet people I am a bit hesitant but I do like to talk and listen as long as we can both keep the convo going , but there's certain things I will not tolerate, aka the following

(slander of Lgtbq+ any other genders or sexualities ) now as a person who's not straight myself, I don't judge if you are straight or not, but I will not react kindly to making fun of this. I'm not fully aware of every thing even new ones and flags because I never really payed attention due to my life growing up.

(Racism ) now, I really love dark jokes, but it comes to something seriously racist or comments that make others uncomfortable I will not tolerate behavior like this.

(SA/ other stuff or grooming/pedo ) if you find this stuff okay, don't interact at all this isn't okay in any manner. The only acceptance I take of this is when it's in a characters past / story and you mention it to inform someone or have some angst to a story but if you support these it's a no go.

(Making fun of mental illness with serious intent) same as the previous thing I will not tolerate the comments hateful towards this, but if a character has any of these please do your best to research it so this doesn't come off as offensive and if you think you have any certain illness ect, please seek medical assistant ect so a doctor could provide you proper evaluation of this, because I am not a therapist or a doctor unfortunately, but I am someone who hopefully you can rely on.

Speculation of the new armor

The history of armors in Elsword was wild. From simple crafting to incomprehensible RNG hell. Here is a brief history (at least from when I started playing):

Normal dungeon gear: Pretty much straightforward. Just a regular gear with higher stats.

Henir gear: This starts having some interesting unique effects. It can be upgraded via grinding Henir.

Secret dungeon gear: Similar to normal dungeon gear but with unique set effects.

Heroic gear: This was the first gear that had RNG components, having to roll 3 lines of IDs for the stats you want. It also came with a set effect of 3 variations.

Elrianode gear: Even more RNG hell with the Tears. The set effects also have 3 variations.

Amethystine Prophecy (AP) gear: The first set to have a Reforge system as an additional grind. The set effects have 6 variations. However, this is the first set since SD gear to not have any RNG involved in the set effects but rather on the Reforge system instead, which, in my opinion, is more acceptable. After it's changed to be bank-sharbale, the value of this gear for early game players increase significantly since it's a common gear that can be equipped on all characters. The reforge system may prove to be daunting at first due to reforge durability, but it's become more friendly after the material requirement nerf and many events and season pass also alleviated that.

Tenebrous (Tene) gear: A DIY set that you can mix and match the effects by yourself with more interesting effects that do not exist in earlier gears. The reforge system is inherited from AP. However, the Shadow Effect RNG is the worst out of all sets released. With so many combinations possible, it can be difficult to obtain the stats you want. Moreover, the armor is character-specific, meaning you cannot share it with different characters unless you purchase the conversion tickets from the item mall, which is very expensive.

Now the criticism:

AP: After many adjustment, this is the set that players seem to like the most due to how straightforward it is. Craft the armor of the set you want > Reforge it to R21 > Done. You can use it on any character in your account.

Tene: Though stronger, players hate it for how many of the stats are locked behind RNG hell. Firstly, you have to get the Shadow Effect you want. Secondly, you need to roll the max value on that stat. Thirdly, if you want another effect or want to reroll, you have to extract the desired option from another piece and roll it again. At initial release, the chance of extracting the desired effect was not 100% but 50%, so there was even more RNG involved. As a result of these factors, many players were unable to enhance their gear to an acceptable level and raised a concern during KOG's new armor release plan last year. KOG acknowledged it and postponed to this year instead while also reworking the planned armor to become Harconium Tuning Reactor, which is compatible with Tene.

Now the speculation:

Given that Harconium was supposed to be the new armor, it could be surmised that, based on the appearance of the item icon, the new armor will return to being common and bank-sharable.

Given how reforge system is in Tene, it might reappear in the new armor as well. And if KOG is being greedy, they could demolish the existing Chlorite market and release a new item as a replacement for Chlorite to be used for the new armor instead.

Harconium or a new substitute could also be used on the new set.

Since the release of the armor will come before the new raid, we can surmise that the armor acquisition can be done without having to raid. This could be done by gathering materials via gridning or daily/weekly quests and crafting like AP/Tene.

Since the armor is common and bank-sharable, the quest will have to be account-wide to prevent rapid acquisition of materials.

The DIY Shadow effects of Tene might return. There could be stronger effects or more lines to identify. Whether it will retain the RNG elements depends on KOG's mercy. (I hope this is the case because god I love the Tene Barrier so much like can you imagine 60% barrier?)

Now regarding Raid, which is required to enhance the armor. It could be in a form of Stages like Raid weapons or doing account-wide weekly quest to get materials. If we have to do Stages like VoS/SoA, it could be challenging if our armors weren't fully prepared.

There could also be items that can be exchanged to NPCs like marks we obtain from helping 0% people completing the raid which can help accelerate things.

Fusionfall: Cartoon Network's BIZARRE thought experiment!

Welcome back to the House of Milesverse, focused on some things comics, some things Transformers, and some things uh - other things.

Today we'll be talk about a special part of my childhood. I've always considered myself a CN kid more than any othr network. Nickelodeon just did not interest me, and i wasn't into Avatar or anything. But i did like Invader Zim. And my 'love' for Disney only came from the movies, and Kingdom Hearts.

But Cartoon Network? That was a different story. I loved Cartoon Network, and it was the network i watched the most. It just had a lot of fun stuff that kid-me was into.

Kid-Me loved Ben 10, and he really did enjoy Dexter's Laboratory. He'd sit down and watch Powerpuff Girls, or Cow & Chicken. He used to watch Scooby-Doo with his grandma. He even enjoyed early Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Steven Universe.

Total Drama, Johnny Test, The Secret Saturdays, Generator Rex, Teen Titans, Johnny Bravo. There was no limit to the amount of stuff that I'd watch. My entertainment wasn't just playing games or on the computer. It was sitting in front of the TV and seeing what I enjoyed.

But you know what Kid me loved that had - probably most of these things in them?

Well if you weren't clued in by the opening title, I'll show you;

This game got me into playing later MMO games like Elsword and DC Universe Online. It was familiar, it had all sorts of cartoon network characters in it. It remains a big point of my childhood because of it.

So today? Put on your nostalgia lenses. As House of MilesVerse presents it's own miniature REVIEW of;

CARTOON NETWORK UNIVERSE: FUSIONFALL

Making of Fusionfall

Fusionfall's story begins with Cartoon Network and one of their first 'big' forays into gaming. The game was published by Cartoon Network, with a business model planned out by Turner Entertainment. Its developers were Grigon Entertainment, a south korean studio chosen for their art style.

Speaking of? Fusionfall's art style is definitely interesting. It portrays the setting with more anime-esque styling. Characters still retained some of their cartoony looks, however, so while it was different, it still worked.

In the game however, it uh, was an interesting experiment.

Admittedly? Eddy isn't the weirdest looking one here. THAT award goes to;

That's Jake, as in Jake the Dog. He looks like that and is one of the only NPCs with no animations. He's just static, his eyes boring deep into your soul...

Jake knows what you did.

Anyways, Fusionfall is an MMORPG where you play as an avatar. You have some limited but still versatile customization options. Your character uses many weapons, including rifles, pistols, rockets, and melee weapons.

Original? Academy?

The game had two different versions, with one ultimately replacing the other. The original was available from 2009-2011 and gave you a simple story. Your character was a hero testing out a time machine, who wound up trapped in the future. You begin a quest to come back to the past, and eventually you return with the knowledge needed to create nanos.

Don't worry about that, we will get into that bit later.

After the birthday bash, the game's tutorial and introduction was overhauled. Newer characters were added - or at least new for when the game was out. For example? Finn, Jake, Generator Rex, and the Sym-Bionic Titan were all new additions, alongside Chowder, flapjack, and the Saturdays. In addition? Mordecai, Rigby, Gumball, and Darwin were all represented through Nanos.

This version of the game is Academy, which lasts from 2011-2013 when the game inevitably shut down its servers. Academy gives you two bonuses for your character: gliding and dodging. Your multidirectional dodge lets you move from front, back, or side to side.

The overhaul changed your origin story too. You train in the null void (it's a Ben 10 thing), and then Providence. Eventually after completing enough missions, you're sent off to get your guide, completing the tutorial.

Your Guides:

The game had four guides available to you at the start. The good thing about them is that you could change missions. You could swap from one guide to another, but you would start at the first level. If you chose to swap back, then you would be able to resume from your initial position.

These four guides are:

Ben Tennyson

Edd, aka 'Double D'

Dexter

And Mojo Jojo

The guides all have different missions too. Dexter wants to find out where the missing heroes from the world are. Ben Tennyson wants to make sure Lord Fuse (We'll get to that) doesn't get his hands on alien technology. These two are pretty simple.

Mojo Jojo wants to build an army of super-monkeys powered by Chemical X and fusion matter to defeat Lord Fuse. Naturally, the player foils his schemes each time - thanks to Mandy, and Dexter, - because he's evil.

Edd is... not what I would have expected, but he wants to stop Fuse from gaining buried candy and treasure maps. I'm surprised at his inclusion, especially compared to the others. But I think he also helps appeal to the comedic leanings of Cartoon Network.

What's the story?

Now we get to the FUN bit!

Fusionfall's story centers on a connected setting between the TV Series. The events of Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory, Ben 10, and Ed, Edd n Eddy are all connected. All the characters know each other, and everything is united.

The main 'threat' of the series is Planet Fusion, a large gooey planet that's assimilated other worlds. This time it wants to assimilate Earth, breaking it down like it's done to many worlds. The various heroes of the Cartoon Network universe unite to stop Planet Fusion from taking their planet.

This isn't just an easy fight for the heroes, though. Planet Fusion creates dangerous monsters made out of fusion matter to terrorize the people. Worse, they've created evil doppelgangers of our favorite CN characters, named Fusions!

It's a big war between two sides, and your character's caught in the middle. As mentioned above, your character is accidentally sent to the future. He returns to the past with the nano blueprints, so that the resistance may have a fighting chance against Fuse.

Now? It's you, the legendary hero, helping take down Fuse's forces across the world. You lose, Fuse.

The Fusions, and the Nanos

This has been stated above, but it would be easier to hop through it again. The Fusions are evil doppelgangers of your favorite Cartoon Network characters. They may look similar, but they are not nice, and exist to help Planet Fusion move his goals along.

Fusions are always found in fusion lairs, which are in infected zones. Infected Zones are the areas most communicated with fusion matter. There are many infected zones, and they all require you talk to a Dexbot to get in.

In these infected zones, you will usually find more than one fusion lair. This is where the Fusions lurk - are you tired of hearing the word 'fusion'? Don't be, we've got a long way to go. Entering the fusion lair usually requires you fight your way through a horde of monsters, and then the fusion itself.

When the fusion finally dies, you get a nano, made from a personal item of the character, fusion matter, and your own imagination energy. This is just the story reason though, the video game reason is just "kill this fusion, and get a nano". It's adorable, by the way.

Nanos have special abilities, which come in a set of three. With a nano you can get bonus fusion matter from missions, have extra money, make monsters fall asleep, sneak past monsters, and more. You only get to pick one ability, but don't fret, you can change it later.

I always look back and think the Nanos are a refreshing gimmick. Imagine being able to carry a chibi-fied version of Mojo Jojo around. They come with their own voice lines too, with higher-pitched voices.

The base game had around 36 nanos which you gained for each level. Academy added a few notable bonuses, with nanos themed off of more-recent CN characters. In addition, you could use a code to gain access to a nano.

The inevitable shutdown (and potential successors):

August 29, 2013, saw Fusionfall close its servers and shut down. I didn't understand it at the time, but I moved on. It was a sad moment for many fans who had gotten attached to the game series.

Other successors have tried to follow the game series. Fusionfall Retro was released as a revival of the original game before the Academy relaunch. Fusionfall Legacy was going to be released as an upscaled version of the original game with additiona l content.

Both games were struck down by a DMCA issued by Cartoon Network. Retro was removed entirely, and Legacy was canceled before release. Retro is playable through 'Retrobution', a modified spin on Retro.

In addition, both the original and academy games are playable after years of being 'gone'. This is through OpenFusion, an unofficial server that preserves both original iterations of the game. Retrobution is also made using this server.

Conclusion:

Fusionfall was a big part of my childhood, especially as a CN Kid. I'm glad i got to make those memories while playing it. However, I never got to beat the original game because i stopped playing.

Things are different now, and after playing on Openfusion, I managed to beat all 36 levels. I was happy to finally see that through. If I could time travel, I'd go back, and fist-bump my younger self. We finally did it, and we saw it through to the end.

Fusionfall was a cute idea, and the strength of its concept alone could prove useful. However, I don't think it could find an audience in today's market. Outside of old fans, I'm not sure if 'new' kids are as attached to cartoon network as the past few generations were.

Regardless? It could be cool to imagine what it would be like now. Better game engines combined with better controls. Newer cartoon network series like Steven Universe, We Bare Bears, or Craig of The Creek. You could even throw in some oddballs, like Scooby-Doo.

What if Lilith "was" the new character who was then ordered to follow the El Search Party. I mean unless she was, but what if.

This theory would make zero sense and is not a fought boss battle, but I do remember few people wanting a villain or boss character being playable since Raven "was" one, but that was under the influence and controlled by King Nasod.

Which yes, that would be a big problem of her being playable. And it would be strange for Friedrich to allow it. Though would be nice, as we'd have Eve and Lilith because it sounds kind of enjoyable to me.

Though best to wait and see what Kr. gives.

Players: find the strongest, most over performing ways to play the game.

Game devs: nerf the overperforming parts, so that there is diversity and flavour to the game, whilst also providing buffs to other, underperforming, parts of the game.

Players: boo hoo, XYZ is dead now, game is unplayable crying wailing throwing up.

I don't know how else to put into words that that's how game balancing works. I'm sorry but if all top builds are running the exactly same shit with minutiae differences, then something is not okay. Balancing was, is and always will be tricky. If there is no difference between playstyles, then there is no reason to have a choice or different playstyles. Like, I'm sorry one overperforming passive has been nerfed but if it hasn't been, game would stale away.

How killing a character/passive/build works: you remove to unique effects completely and entirely, and replace them with new, other and completely inferior effects. Imagine your character had guaranteed max rolled bonus damage unavoidable crit against low hp targets. Patch notes, changes the passive to merely apply slow on low hp targets. That kills the character because it can no long perform as trash killer and is not that good against bosses. If the patch note marerly changes numbers (going from let's say 30% bonus damage to 21%) is not killing the passive or the playstyle. It's simply weakening it so it's not that over performing and dominating. (It's literally 9%. Behave yourselves)

I'm sick and tired of entitled gamers stomping ground and having temper tantrum because their character doesn't one hit everything in 5 screen radius. Grow the fuck up.

Allow me to introduce you to my Alhaitham, the most unfortunate character in my entire roster.

Here he is in a team all by his lonesome (deserving, tbh). I don't know how long he's been there, but it's at least been long enough for me to forget about him. like leaving a wet cardboard box on the back porch for a few too many months.

it all started when i realized that he looks very similar to a character i main in another game, so i decided to pull for him on his release banner:

Alhaitham from Genshin (left), Ainchase Ishmael from Elsword (right). There was a running joke in the Elsword fandom for a while because people kept posting Alhaitham fanart without realizing it.

Anyway, I was EXTREMELY lucky on his banner and got him within 30-ish pulls (I'd already built up some pity before then, though).

But that was the extent of my good fortune.

I don't know whether my specific copy of Alhaitham had been secretly swapped for a costumed Bennett or he was just the runt of his gacha litter, but this man was plagued with mishaps from the moment he joined my team.

And I do mean the moment he joined. I slotted him into my team, closed the interface, and immediately misclicked the sprint button, sending him shooting off the very near cliff edge I'd forgotten I was standing on. In my panic I wasn't able to open the glider in time and he buckled like a crumpled napkin on the ground miles below.

Incidents like these soon became a regular issue when playing with him: Enemies would jump us out of nowhere, lightning seemed particularly interested in landing accuracy shots, command buttons wouldn't fire the way they were supposed to and/or had significant delay...the list goes on.
