I had high hopes for the run... I came off the bike feeling good, stomach felt great for once, but a couple miles in I just had no energy at all. I tried eating and no change, I tried ice and water to cool off, felt good but no change... My legs felt fine.. Mostly I think the sinus cold I had hoped would be gone finally started effecting me.. I would start coughing when I ran to hard.. So it became about just moving forward.. I ran where I could, and walked the rest trying to keep the pace up.. Overall super bummed about the run.. But at least I kept going, managed a couple minute overall ironman PR time.. This is what @ironmantri is all about.. Sometimes things just happen but you have to keep moving. I had so much fun on the bike! It was a beautiful day, I wasn't freezing and shaking uncontrollably like last year.. I felt good on the climbs, had fun on the descents, went back and forth with people on the flats to stay awake and most importantly ate, drank a lot of fluids, took salt pills and my stomach behaved!! I was stoked that at the 100 mile mark I was at 5:30 time and I felt good but the dumb headwind the last 12 miles slowed me down more than I would have liked... I started the bike so happy and excited because I got out of the water and to my complete surprise I swam 1:14. Finished Ironman Canada in 12:47:53, a new Ironman PR! Overall it was a great day, a new swim PR, beautiful and fun bike even with stupid headwind up the last 15 miles of climbs, my run just never showed up from the start but stayed after and got it done.
