i want more nuance to be entered into the discussion of the green girl sorority and how differently cynthia plays elphaba in comparison to those who came before her because while a lot of people are rightfully like "why was elphaba not black from the beginning" and celebrating that she is now being played by a black woman, i think we need to be careful in just writing off all the elphabas of the past as Random White Girls when the role was championed (and often followed/succeeded) by a jewish woman
the pop culture archetype of the Wicked Witch has deep roots in antisemitism stretching faaaar far back. there is a level of reclamation happening in casting idina menzel, a jewish woman, to play the Misunderstood and Maligned young girl who is branded as exactly that. and stage!Elphaba is also written and acted with jewish stereotypes in mind--she is loud, aggressive, no-nonsense, blunt. she is quick to advocate for herself and shut down the discrimination she faces. all of this is very intentional! her personality is abrasive from years of abuse, and that makes propagandizing her easy. this is literally the thesis statement of the musical--it's not about aptitude, it's the way you're viewed.
cynthia's performance of elphaba is fucking INSPIRED despite going in a completely different direction. she's much more reserved, analytical, one of her key character traits is how well she can read people (see her calling out Galinda as insecure/putting on airs in their first scene together, clocking that Fiyero is using his party guy persona as a shield for his own depression) elphaba's attempts to blend in and make herself smaller all fail simply because of her existence, if not that then because she feels empathy so strongly she often struggles to hold back from acting, protecting.
personality wise, though, cynthia's elphaba is very quiet and closed-off, not at all the bullet-to-the-face that she is in the stage show, and... she still gets propagandized and maligned. though this seems to contradict the other interpretation, it tells of the other end of the spectrum of propaganda, one that black women watching (and many, MANY other marginalized folks) are sure to identify with--it does not matter how "nice," how reserved, how small a black woman makes herself. a racist society will still scrutinize her every action for a way to parse ill intent from it, brand her as an angry black woman who is dangerous and wicked, and write off any humanity she has in the process.
these two very different interpretations tell of the lie of assimilation. the fact of the matter is, when you are marginalized, there is no way to sand down your edges enough to make the people oppressing you "accept" you. that is why wicked is a tragedy at its core. whether loud and aggressive or quiet and unimposing, there is nothing elphaba could have done to make the people of Oz see her as anything other than a scapegoat to blame all their problems on.
so while i definitely appreciate that people are excited for black girl era elphaba, i would encourage us all to still show appreciation for what came before--that was not white girl era elphaba. that was jewish girl era elphaba. two houses, both alike in dignity, two stories both worth being told.
#wordy wendy#wicked#wicked movie#wicked 2024#wendy rambles#wendy meta#honestly i get chills whenever im watching the movie#and it gets to 'her green skin is a twisted manifestorial of her true nature#' what a wham line. literally makes me sick to hear.

Meeting Elphabas family Headcannon:
Pairing: Elphaba Thropp x reader, the Thropp family x reader.
Trigger warnings: nervousness, Elphabas dad ig.
Note: letâs pretend Elphabas mom is still alive pls. Let my baby have a family.
Request.
Elphaba's Nervousness:
Elphaba is anxious about introducing you to her family, knowing how complicated her relationship with them can be. She reassures you that itâs not personal but admits sheâs protective of you.
Meeting Melena (Elphabaâs Mother):
Melena greets you with warmth, almost too much, pulling you into a tight hug, a contrast to Elphabaâs more reserved demeanor.
Sheâs charismatic and playful, commenting on how much Elphaba talks about you (even if Elphaba is quick to deny it).
Melenaâs affection for you feels almost performative, like sheâs trying to make up for something unspoken between her and Elphaba.
Meeting Frex (Elphabaâs Father):
Frex is standoffish at first, perhaps disappointed or unsettled by Elphabaâs defiance of traditional expectations, but gradually warms up to you.
He might make awkward, old-fashioned comments, trying to be fatherly, but you sense the tension between him and Elphaba, who clearly resents his patronizing tone.
His attempts to bond with you are more about asserting control than making a genuine connection, but you manage to navigate through it with polite responses.
Nessarose (Elphabaâs Sister):
Nessa seems cold at first but eventually shows curiosity, especially after seeing the dynamic between you and Elphaba.
Sheâs intelligent and quietly observant, noting how much Elphaba seems to trust you, and this causes her to warm upâalbeit slowly.
The two of you bond over your understanding of Elphabaâs complexities, though Nessaâs loyalty to her sister sometimes leads to small, sharp comments.
Elphabas Reactions:
Elphaba stays mostly by your side, but sheâs visibly tense, trying to hold it all together for your sake while dealing with family dynamics.
You can tell Elphaba appreciates your patience, especially when it comes to handling her familyâs quirks.
Afterward, when you're alone, she admits how difficult it is to be around them, but sheâs glad youâre there with her.

Cynthia Erivo was a lot more reserved in her performance as Elphaba at the start of the film as opposed to the "0 to 100 ranting and raging" Elphaba on-stage but I think it worked extremely well. Ok when I say reserved, she still had plenty of funny moments. But Cynthia's performance really highlighted that no matter what Elphie did, she was viewed as a 'problem'. She could literally just be standing there and it'd be a 'problem'. So, while it clearly pained her, she just remained calm and civil, while still putting ignorant idiots in their place. She did have her outbursts but even then it was seething anger not, well, stage!Elphie anger (no offense, I love my stage!Elphie rants)
But over the course of the film, she realizes she can't be calm and quiet anymore. That scene where she learns the Wizard is a fraud was sooooo well-acted and the perfect pay-off to all that build-up. And it 'concludes' with this gorgeous release of emotion in Defying Gravity and you get the sense that this is the first time Elphie has truly been able to express who she is and how she feels.
I just really enjoyed watching Cynthia's emotional journey as Elphaba. And it's only going to get better-and-worse in Part Two. Again, if that's how she did Defying Gravity... oh we are in for a treat with No Good Deed!
Thank you, Cynthia, for bringing Elphie to the big-screen.

here it is! the wicked movie review.
Part 1: spoiler free
Iâll start by saying Iâm pleasantly surprised. Given the previous few years of musicals to movie adaptations, I didnât have the highest of expectations. I loved Jon M. Chuâs work on Crazy Rich Asians but I thought his adaptation of In The Heights had lots of pacing issues. With almost 3 hours of only act I, I was concerned about wasted time, but Iâll say that pretty much every minute of Wicked Part 1 was well used and the story flowed well. My friends will tell you Iâm no big fan of some of Galindaâs costumes but there were plenty of them in the rest of the movie were well made and looked good. Ariana Grande also impressed me with her acting choices and vocal chops, which I had low expectations for. Cynthia Erivoâs voice was fabulous. What it comes down to is Jon M. Chu understood the assignment. I give this movie adaptation an A.
In depth spoiler thoughts below the cut.
Part 2: spoiler city.
Cast
Ariana Grande really surprised me with her vocal chops. Iâd only seen a little of her Sam and Cat acting and heard her pop music, so I wasnât super impressed with her voice but she really nailed it with the opera and the musical style singing. Her acting choices were fun to watch and the felt true to the Galinda energy that is the role in act I. I kind of wish they curled her hair more since it was varying levels of curled throughout the movie but I thought it looked best during What Is This Feeling, but thatâs a personal preference. Her comedic timing was excellent throughout the entire movie, though she picked the hair toss thatâs really big which I thought was an interesting choice. Overall I really was pleasantly surprised by her competency with the role.
Cynthia Erivo I liked from Harriet but also didnât know her full singing ability. I thought she did a great job bringing out the multiple layers of Elphabaâs personality and she played the role in a way different than Iâd seen on stage. Iâm used to a more jaded, feisty and loud Elphaba but Cynthia was more quiet and reserved, but not in a way that took away from the character. Sheâs still sharp tongued and smart, but more like a cool thunderstorm with occasional loud claps than the raging fire Iâm used to. She did a really awesome job with the balance of sharp to soft that Elphaba tends to need in order to be believable.
Nessa and Fiyero were great. Fiyero was cocky and extra before the Lion scene and more thoughtful afterward and always had a little chemistry with Elphaba, which makes it feel natural when we get to Iâm Not That Girl. Nessa is played so well as a girl who wants to be treated like everyone else. She insisted that nobody help her when she needs to go somewhere and is visibly upset when people are moving her and, in a sense, controlling her when she wants to be self reliant for once after years of being babied by her father and nanny.
Choices
There were some choices throughout that I thought were a little strange though. I didnât like the flash through all the different points with Galinda during No One Mourns the Wicked. 1) they didnât show the scenes with Glinda from act II that happen before the song takes place and 2) it felt kind of out of context if you havenât seen the film before. If you have, you can remember the moments Glinda is flashing back to but having seen it the first time, I didnât like it.
Additionally they made the silver shoes belong to Elphaba and Nessaâs mom. I donât know if I liked it or not but I thought it was a strange choice and I sort of prefer when it wasnât and they were specially made for Nessa by her father, but I see how adding their mother to their significance makes them more important to both sisters.
I actually liked that the Animals walked on all fours. In both Wicked the novel and L. Frank Baumâs Oz, Animals were sentient and could speak and think, but they were still not humans and therefore walked on all fours. I also liked how at Shiz they had little pieces of technology around that allowed Dillamond to teach, like turning on the projector and closing the blinds. It easily couldâve gone too Zootopia if they had them on their hind legs.
Additionally I liked the inclusion of a nanny character in the childhood scenes. Not only does it feel like a little nod to the novels, where Elphaba was cared for by Nanny, and while the book Nanny was more tough love than the character included in the movie, I thought it added to the emphasis of rejection from her parents. I also thought it was a cool choice for her to be a Bear, so it could narratively added to Elphabaâs care of Animals later on in the story.
I loved how they handled the Dancing Through Life scene where Elphaba turns up in the hat. It really feels more intense with the way everyone is laughing, staring, mocking Elphaba and I absolutely loved how when Galinda joined her, her friends tried to stop her. It really showed how Galinda could be risking her popularity to show kindness to Elphaba, and how in this situation it paid off. Itâs probably one of my favorite scenes in the movie. And more as a smaller note, I thought it was fun that during the whole song, Fiyero essentially seduced the entirety of Shiz. Sexuality is not an issue in Oz.
Costumes
Iâve said it to a few people but I donât like the movies Bubble Dress. Iâve been trying to figure out for weeks what specifically I dislike about it, but after a lot of thought itâs the skirt. It uses too much tulle when I feel like for Glindaâs outfits, they should be using more silks or satins. I also really hate the wand they gave Glinda, it feels like a cheap Spirit Halloween toy rather than an expensive movie prop.
Both Elphaba and Galinda were wearing more formal attire you could almost call business casual while at Shiz, but I didnât like how they were the only two not conforming to the uniform colors. Galinda by far was worse in this department, with her pink and lavender outfits, but Elphaba was also wearing slightly off shades of blue. It felt like they were imitating Wednesday and I didnât like that choice. The outfits themselves were fine and I liked the cut and fit of the costumes, just not the color.
Galinda was in, by far, too much pink. I understand that pink is her iconic color that they always use in her merch, but it was too much. When you have Galinda constantly in pink, it takes away from the flair of when she wears it. It also feels a little childish of her to only wear one color, or at least cinematically elementary.
Overall the costumes were fine, but I kind of wish they chose a costume designer who had more experience in fantasy shows. They picked an artist who has only made costumes for period pieces, and it being their first foray into fantasy shows. I obviously have more to say about Galindaâs costumes, being a Glinda rper, but I have a lot of thoughts on the choices with the fabric especially that I didnât like. There was altogether too much sheer and tulle fabrics in both leads costumes.
Music
Overall, I thought they did a great job with the music. It was well orchestrated for a full scale film soundtrack. I know they said they sang live onset but I think itâs a little obvious sometimes that (I think) they used a recording over the film to get perfectly clear sound. Maybe it was just me but I thought it looked a tiny bit lip synced at times rather than live sung.
This may have just been the theater I was in, but the sound mix for No One Mourns The Wicked sounded a little muddy to me. Itâs the only song that did but as the camera was panning out of the witchâs tower and back to what looked like Munchkinland while the intro music played, the audio mix just felt a little off. It really could be the speakers at the theatre though, I opted for the regular tickets and not Dolby for my first pass at the movie.
The singing itself was excellent. I was surprised by how youthful Cynthiaâs voice sounded, and I already talked under casting about how pleasantly surprised I was that Ariana had the vocal chops for Glinda. I also said (mostly as a joke) that if Ariana started doing runs through the movie, Iâd leave. Iâm happy to say both she and Cynthia generally sung it straight, and any runs they added generally had a good effect on the music. I wonât be buying the movie soundtrack, but I really did think it sounded great. Iâll definitely be purchasing the movie and using it to test new video watching setups the way I was previously using The Greatest Showman.
Conclusion
I will be seeing Wicked again. At least once, possibly twice depending on what my friends want to do. It was a genuinely enjoyable experience where it felt like seeing Oz again for the first time. Jon M. Chu truly understood the assignment and did the musical justice. If you saw the movie recently come talk to me, Iâd love to talk about the movie more.

Miraculous Tales: Marinette
APPEARANCE
Marinette is a slim teenage girl of average height who looks like a perfect combination of her parents, inheriting her motherâs softer features and black while also inheriting her father warm beige skin tone and equally warm brown eyes.
HAIRSTYLES
Marinette tends to wear her hair in simple yet cute hairstyles, like pigtails and twin braids. Most of her hair accessories are light pink bows with the occasional hairclips and headbands.
LOOKBOOK
Marinette's clothes are very feminine-coded but also very eclectic, given that most of them were outfits that she herself created since she first learned fashion design. She has a very cute vibe to her outfits that follows aesthetics like soft girl, colorful streerwear, and Chinese streetwear.
BACKSTORY
Marinette Dupain-Cheng is a French-Chinese girl who has lived in Jiangxi, China up until the last year when she moved to Paris and live with her maternal grandparents, uncle, and cousin Bridgette. The main reasons that she moved to Paris were to further pursue her love for fashion and because her parents believed that she has potential that their countryside village canât really offer her.
During her first year at LycĂŠe Françoise Dupont, she was already shy to begin with and being the new student who just moved from a remote village in China didnât exactly help her settle her nerves. Thankfully, her new classmates were pretty supportive and helped her adjust to her new life as a Parisian.
One classmate, however, didnât take the same approach as the others. ChloĂŠ Bourgeois, the Mayorâs daughter and one of the most fashion forward students in Dupont.
Now at first, ChloĂŠ was pretty nice to Marinette, recognizing her a fellow fashion lover and an aspiring fashion designer. However, as the school year went on, ChloĂŠ started to lose her spot as top student and most fashionable to Marinette. By the end of it, ChloĂŠ and Marinette became rivals and enemies (think Galinda and Elphabaâs starting relationship) where ChloĂŠ would use her money and status to pull pranks on Marinette.
PERSONALITY
Marinette is a spunky, bright, and outgoing young girl. But that wasn't always the chance. During her first year in Paris, she was much more shy and reserved as she knew no one there. It was thanks to her new friends, she was able to open up much more. Marinette is someone who is always willing to lend a helping hand, whether it be helping her classmates with struggling subjects or helping her uncle with his private chef jobs.
She still struggles with self-confidence, often times quick to panic and becomes more clumsy and nervous when she's all over the place. Thankfully, having Tikki as additional support helped her remain much calmer when dealing with stressful situations and standing up for herself against those like ChloĂŠ.
LADY LUCK
Being the newest holder of the Ladybug Miraculous, Marinette has become Lady Luck, one of Paris' newest superheroes.
APPEARANCE
As Lady Luck, her black hair becomes more blue with her warm brown eyes are now a bright blue, now resembling eyes of a bug. After accepting her role as a superhero, her simple spandex-like outfit changed into one that resembles a red traditional Chinese qipao donned in ladybug spots plus black pants. Her hair is styles in twin buns, each with a long, red ribbon that give off the impression of twin antennas.
PERSONALITY
As Lady Luck, Marinette's personality does a total 180. She's much more calm and level-headed with how she approaches things. To her, the biggest focus when dealing with Pergue is to stop the villain and make sure there is very little damage as possible, building and civilian wise. She wants to be sure that no one is seriously hurt by the Pergue attacks, seeing how bad the damage they often leave behind without remorse.
She is much more responsible and put together as Lady Luck, especially with her interaction with the police, who she shares a very neutral relationship. This is mainly due to how seriously she takes her role as Lady Luck, leading her to sometimes scold the others for being too laid-back while on the job.
But deep down, there is a part of Lady Luck that is wondering if she's really up for the role she accepted. She worries if what her and her team have been doing is actually making an effort and not just delaying the inevitable.

JUST CAME BACK FROM WICKED!!!! HOW DID THEY SOME HOW MAKE IT GAYER
Spoilers
OMG THE LOATHING SCENE!!! IT'S ALWAYS BEEN MY FAVORITE FROM THE MUSICAL SO I WAS LIKE PRACTICALLY SHAKING WAITING FOR THE MOMENT WHERE THEY'D START WRITING THE NOTES TO THEIR PARENTS!! AND IT ABSOLUTELY DID NOT DISSAPOINT! IT WAS ABSOLUTELY ONE OF THE BEST SCENES OF THE MOVIE AND I WILL BE WATCHING IT AT LEAST ANOTHER MILLION TIMES
THE DANCE SCENE ALMOST MADE ME CRY!! Like I was in there tearing up while my sister is over here whispering "this is corny as hell" like omg it hurt so much. Galinda being the one to wipe away her tears. Being the only one seeing how much pain she was in. The only one who understands her when everyone else was laughing. The way there was barely any dialog in the scene. It hurt way too much than I expected it to.
Omg POPULAR???? LIKE YES ARI ATE THAT!!! GALINDA IS SUPPOSED TO BE "TOO MUCH" SHE'S SUPPOSED TO BE CHAOTIC!! SHE'S SUPPOSED TO BE JUMPING UP AND DOWN OVERLY EXCITED AND MAKING PEOPLE LAUGH!! THAT'S AN IMPORTANT PART OF HER CHARACTER!! IT MEANS SOMETHING TO HER CHARACTER!! HER ABILITY TO SHIFT BETWEEN PEPPY AND SERIOUS IS WHY SO MANY PEOPLE LOVE HER CHARACTER AND I ALREADY KNOW THOSE WHO AREN'T THEATER NERDS WILL NOT GET THAT!!
THE WAY THEY WERE LAYING NEXT TO EACH OTHER!! ELPHABA'S FONDNESS AT THE WAY GALINDA GOT UPSET ABOUT NOT BEING TOLD A SECRET!! THAT SMILE SHE RESERVES JUST FOR HER!! I CAN'T BROO đđ
Omg and the iconic lines "pink goes good with green" or "you're beautiful" like my heart đđ I can't!!
Omg and the use of the word mashes it was such a small detail but every time I heard one of them It just goes to show that they did their homework for this.
Also the going away scene "I hope you get what your heart desires -Galinda" like how do I explain how much that meant to me? Because like it meant a lot to me and idek why but it did.
Not to mention DEFYING GRAVITY like that entire scene deserves a post of its own and I'm not even going to touch it yet until I rewatch the movie at least 20 more times!!

shiz era gelphie headcanons........ i must Know them........
oooOOOO headcanon ask! a reason to go batshit insane! perfect!
Elphaba has a nook in the library. It's hers. You might think it's hard to reserve a public space, but she has done it. She has spent too much time in that godforsaken place not to make everyone aware of this informal claim she has over her corner of the library.
It used to be in the far corner of the third story of Crage Hall's library, but once Glinda started spending afternoons with Elphaba, she forcibly made her relocate her den to a sunny spot next to a bay window where Glinda can people watch, draw, or read while Elphaba goes about her shady business (reading non fiction for fun).
This kinda came across in my Acts of Service fic, but Elphaba likes her tea strong but Full of Sugar (Sweet Tooth!Elphie is my drug) while Glinda likes it more mellow and with a dash of milk.
The two of them have one of those "I cook, you do the dishes" set up in the mornings. Glinda gets them both tea, biscuits and what not, while Elphie makes the bed and pulls their chairs together so they can have a quick breakfast together before going about their respective days.
Glinda is an early bird who will wake at any minor inconvenience and have nightmares. Elphaba is a night owl who will stay up to ungodly hours of the night and appear completely refreshed the next morning (this appearance is a lie, her usual baseline of constant exhaustion just makes it hard to notice.)
Okay im done now akjsdhak

I know this is a big ask but...for ALL your romantic fos, đŤ - How does your F/O comfort you when you're upset? How would you comfort them?
@soulnottainted -grips my 20 f/os tightly- I AM TAKING THIS CHALLENGE KELS WE ARE RUNNING WITH IT
How does your F/O comfort you when you're upset? How would you comfort them?
CLANCY + TORCH - Clancy holds me in his arms and kisses my forehead, rocking me back and forth and humming a song in my ears so I can calm down. Torch would try to find me little trinkets around camp to cheer me up and just be at my side in solidarity.
I comfort them BOTH by providing a lot of physical touch/affection they're not used to having. It's reassuring for them to be able to keep me in their arms to stay grounded.
CLARK + BRUCE - Bruce buys me things he knows I like. My favorite meal, a cute little trinket of a show I'm into, or anything similar! He's bad at comforting but he'll at least try to cheer me up. Clark is a lot more 'we'll sit down and talk this out' because he values open communication and is kind of the messenger of our relationship. He likes to hear my feelings and talk it out so it seems less intimidating to me and I appreciate him for it!
I comfort Bruce with lots of hugs and I just let him shower me with kisses and hold me close on bad nights. Clark likes to go out with me to a coffee shop to distract us with positive memories instead. Kill it with Kindness and whatnot u//w//u
DANNY - Doesn't. Just makes fun of me and then tries to get me to forget about it by stabbing me or something. We don't TALK about our feelings we just make each other worse đ
JAX - He'd tease me about what makes me upset/tries to make me laugh but if it fails he just gives up and sits at my side and begrudgingly is like 'if you...want to talk about something...i guess i'll listen.' (He does listen, though, and it helps <3)
Jax doesn't like it when I comfort him too much, but when we do its in private in one of our rooms, and he likes to hug me and let me play with his ears so he can feel safe.
HUGHIE - SO BAD SO AWKWARD but does his 100% best! Puts his whole Hugh-ussy into it!!! He just sits with me, rubs my back, and tries to say things that usually come out 10x worse but eventually gets there.
I try to help him talk things out when he's upset. He's very spazzy/impulsive so I usually ask him about things and help connect the dots as to WHY he's upset so we can figure stuff out.
GALINDA - My girl buys me new art supplies and books but doesn't read the labels or titles when she does she just shows up in my dorm one day with handfuls of pink wrapped presents like 'YOU WERE SAD SO I BOUGHT YOU THE ART ROOM'
I offer to go shopping and spend time with her when she's upset in return! I carry all of her bags and tell her how beautiful she looks in clothes that she tries on and float behind her like a lovesick puppy to fuel her ego ;//v//;
ELPHABA - A bit worse than Galinda, especially when my s/i for her is more quiet/reserved. I think she'd give me head pets tho :3
For her I would find her poppies and build a beautiful boquet for her with colors representing different meanings of flower and offer them to her in a cute black parchment paper with green bow
RAY - The only way he knows how to comfort me is if he offers to let me beat him for 5 minutes with a baseball bat this man doesn't know how to do feelings.
Same for the other way around. He's sad I'm still going to beat him with a baseball bat (me and ray have a very strange relationship)
DIRK - OH MY SWEET KING OF AVOIDING EMOTIONS he will listen to me talk about my problems ALL DAY and while he's not great at giving advice/sounding empathetic he really does try to listen and just let me get stuff out! Sometimes he builds little robots for me and sends them through time/space as little gifts with love letters telling me to keep on trucking.
If I can wiggle his emotions out of him though I usually go on video call with him if we're far away and just sit there quietly and parallel play w him. If we're in person, same thing but our shoulders are touching uwu
MICHAEL - He doesn't understand human emotions well, but if I am upset for whatever reason he doesn't necessarily HAVE an interest in it? He'll just try to find something new to cheer me up. Maybe even sit and watch my favorite movie with me!
He genuinley doesn't get upset I think and if he does its just a pout that I can pat away with my hand on his cheek hehe
SAM - Buys me my favorite gas station food on the road :3
I just f*ck him
DAMIAN - He makes bone necklaces for me out of my favorite types of teeth. Sometimes he engraves them with our names and hearts!
I spend time with him in his mortuary helping him label dead bodies sometimes and just spending time in the same room makes him happier when he's upest
ELEVEN - We go on an adventure to a planet he KNOWS I'll love and that will help me forget about what made me upset. He loves to surprise me with events or hobbies in time and space he knows I'll thrive in.
I make him fishfingers and custard and we eat it together while I let him infodump about his complaints about human history (he has a lot of them)
CHROLLO - 'You wanna go kill someone?' is his usually suggestion (it helps)
(I suggest the same thing)
ROSEMARY - My poor baby girl gets so nervous when she sees me upset :(. She offers to play board games with me while we put on some records and a fire and we just relax together.
She likes it when I let her cry on my shoulder and get her emotions out. I wrap her in my arms and let her cry while kissing her head.
LEONE + BRUNO - We all drink limoncello and go on a relaxing date at a little cafe somewhere in Italy! We don't like to stress about things so any upset any of us get we try to relax it off whenever we can and just remember that we're together and happy uwu
WRECKER - He's scoopin Rowin up in his big ol' arms and twirling him around like no tomorrow! Smothering him in kisses and making SURE he only focuses on how loved he is with his family!
Rowin in return gives Wrecker a lot of kisses and really pretty rocks he finds on random planets.

Wicked being relevant rn means OCverse development in my brain (Defying Gravity / Elphaba is a partial inspiration for Elymas) particularly the Season 1 Finale episode (one of the two, since it's a two parter)
Episode title: New Moon
The reference in the title being how the moon "dissappears" during a new moon, and the plot of the episode being Elymas disappearing. literally as he casts an invisibility spell on himself, 5 other ppl, and an entire boat at the end of the big climactic song so they can evade the queen and her royal guard (sidenote: he's definitely been influenced by Cheshire Cat, you can tell (he's a shapeshifter than can exclusively turn into a cat), also legally since the start of the episode is Ink forging Elymas's death certificate to try and sneak him out (that doesn't work, resulting in the climax above)
the other reference being in how New Moons represent new beginnings and stuff, and the big song not only shows the start of the character arcs/new outlooks of the main cast but Fleur (the main setting of the plot in season one) starts to shift their perception of Queen Monarch (she's a monarch butterfly please i know her name is stupid sounding but pls) as the climax makes it obvious that she isn't The Queen of Peace and Tranquility as she's advertised herself as through propaganda. She wanted to be the "picture perfect queen" because her mom ended a war before she was crowned the new queen, and she saw that as the perfect opportunity to be a warless queen. Which just manifests itself as lying about the severity of conflicts and appeasing horrid political figures under the table while using propaganda to promote herself as angelic and kind through art and excessive parties
But, during the sequence, where Elymas is briefly powered tenfold by his mother's (the moon) influence:
Sir Laughalot / FĂŠlix briefly skurmishes with his narrative foil - Sir Captain Feline / Hassan, both of their current character arcs are highlighted as Laughalot is willing to be on Elymas's side of the conflict even if he still has reservations about uprooting the monarchy all together, but Hassan is still fully loyal to the queen until during the skirmish he starts actually thinking about what Laughalot is saying (and realizing his part to play in not only in the propaganda for Monarch but also his role in the dehumanization of Laughalot and other people like him) Hassan, hesitantly, let's Laughalot go which leads into his character arc of deconstructing the image of Fleur and himself in the next season
Princess Petunia (Monarch's daughter) convinces Princess Marina (Petunia's wife) to help Elymas escape - Marina has been getting progressively more active in her approach to persuading Monarch to good and this marks a shift to her thinking passive change is best. Petunia has always been pro active change, but Monarch being her mother has made it difficult to enact, this is the moment she finally pulls the wool out from under her and uses her mother's (and by extension) the guard's perception of her to her advantage. They think she's a weak opponent/would never go against her mother's word, but due to boiling tension and secretly studying wild plant magic, she's able to knock and fight off the first wave of guards to give Elymas enough time to escape. Marina using her connection to water to help with later hoards and also getting their ship out of the harbor
Ink uses their status to not only forge legal documents for Elymas but also to obtain the escape ship in the first place. Ink doing any of these risks their entire career, but they've finally decided that a life of luxury is not worth submitting to the corrupt as everyone else suffers. This is also a really important sequence for Elymas and Ink's romance as Ink is ammending actions in an argument they and Elymas had in either the episode prior or the episode just before that.
FĂŠlix's boyfriend (who needs a name as I've replaced the previous character) last minute joins the other main 5 on the way out of the country - inspired that things can actually change for the first time, as he's been apathetic to the idea for awhile
maybe im not normal about them

My thoughts about the Wicked trailer no one asked for. I'm generally trying really hard to reserve judgement as I know it's going to be different from the stage production and I welcome some of the opportunities that can give such as how much more they can do with the plot, and I'm actually not mad about them splitting it into two movies as the more run time the better as far as I'm concerned. However.
âł I don't like the colors they've picked for Glinda, they're doing Ariana dirty. A warmer shade of blonde, not bleaching her eyebrows, and less pastel pinks would really stop her from looking washed out and kinda sickly. âł I like Elphaba's costumes (except the TikTok glasses) I am concerned how much older Cynthia looks next to Ariana considering they're supposed to be the same age. Same with Jonathan, his Fiyero looks like the fully grown ass man that he is which is fine for act 2, not act 1. I have a lot of issues with Fiyero's casting anyway though as he's the most important character that should have been POC as is canon âł The aesthetic is giving YA novel, I'm not sure how I feel about that âł I hate the Defying Gravity riff. Not just that it's different, it's just not performed well. It's Elphaba's battle cry, she's supposed to sound angry yet triumphant, and that is neither. Also - is that how the movie is gonna end?? âł Is...Glinda getting married? âł I like the design of the silver slippers and the homages to the Wizard of Oz âł Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard is literally my dream fantasy casting, and I'm just about to lose my damn mind knowing that I'm going to actually get to see it
Generally right now my feelings are could be better, could be worse. I was expecting worse.

Merry Christmas @mudefrau!
The evening sun gilds the trees and hanging moss and reflection off the water into something precious, the chorus of the wetland-bugs rises like a welcome, and Nessarose is distraught, because Elphaba is leaving.
She must not show it, of course. She sits on the end of Elphabaâs bed, watching owl-faced as her elder sister packs up what little she owns.
âWhat do you think, Nessa, the red or the brown?â Elphaba is holding up a pair of traveling dresses, the only two she owns that are physically suitable for the rigors of the journey.
âThe red clashes horribly, you know this.â
âYouâre right, first impressions are so vital to the life of any girl newly blossomed into adulthood. Finding a way to stand out is of paramount importance,â she says as she folds up and packs away the brown dress, setting aside the red one to wear tomorrow.
Nessarose scoffs in nominal disgust, for the sake of appearances, but lacking any teeth. âA noteworthy first impression is important, yes, but not so important that itâs worth making the faithful think they need to perform an exorcism on you.â
âAssuming any remain.â
âShiz is a Unionist university, correct?â
âIt was, originally, but itâs become rather secular, even the pleasure faith has been rumored to grow amongst the student body.â
âWell, perhaps the faculty will be more sensible. Are they not renowned for their wisdom and experience? Is that not why they were chosen to shepherd young, impressionable minds towards a gracious adulthood?â
âOne would hope.â
Elphaba had stopped, staring at nothing with a shadow in her eyes. Nessa tries to not wish for arms very often, her condition must after all be crucial to the Unnamed Godâs plan for her, but she thinks it must not be blasphemous to wish she could put a comforting hand on her sisterâs shoulder.
She settles for words. âWell, even if the contents have rotted, the structure might yet be sound, no?â
âItâs the library Iâm most interested in, actually,â Elphaba says, avoiding the question, âSince Shiz was an old Unionist school, theyâve got one of the largest repositories of very old Unionist texts. Iâm interested in comparing the origins of the religion to its modern state, and seeing if I can trace back how it got here.â
And there it is. Nessa knows Elphaba must be only posturing when she throws her supposed atheism into their fatherâs face; after all, who but the truly devout would put so much effort into understanding the growth of this religion, to learn which supposed âtraditionsâ are in truth harmful later additions that must be scraped away?
Even if Elphaba claims to reject the faith, should she devote herself to it beyond university, why, she might be the greatest thing to happen to Unionism since the Saints of old. Truly living up to her name.
âThat sounds wonderful. Youâll keep me up-to-date with your findings, wonât you?â
Elphabaâs expression softens into the warm face reserved exclusively for Nessa. âOf course,â she says, with a gentle yet toothy smile that displays her unusually sharp canines.
Her teeth, her skin, her aversion to water, her sandpaper personality, all of these things make others think Elphaba some demon of prophecy, a human-shaped incarnation of a draconic herald of the apocalypse.
But here is the truth: Elphaba is tame for Nessa. Elphaba is gentle for Nessa. Nessa is certain that the Unnamed God gave them to each other for a reason: the dragon that would have raged across field and city has instead become the guardian of a holy woman. Or something along those lines. Whether Elphaba truly has faith does not matter, because her love for Nessa is the most real thing in the world.
In the most locked-down, guarded space in her heart, she thinks Elphabaâs love is more real, even, than Fatherâs love for her.
And Elphaba is leaving.
âBut do you have to go now? Couldnât you wait a couple years and go with me, when the time comes?â
Elphaba sighs, deep and heavier than her lungs should allow. âNessa, if I stay in this house much longer, I fear I will no longer be able to restrain myself, and might one day tear Fatherâs throat out.â She is outgrowing them, the house too small to stretch her wings.
âYou wonât hurt him if Iâm there.â
âBut you canât be with me every moment of the day,â I wish I could, âAnd besides, every day I spend here is another day I risk slipping on a wayward patch of lichen and falling into the water, and then there would be nothing to threaten Father at all.â
âWe could go back to Colwen Grounds together.â
âWithout Father? You know he loved Turtle Heart too much to abandon this cause.â
âWell, Nanny would be happy at least.â
âYou are not wrong.â Her smile fades. âBut Nessa, I have to go. I canâtâ canât stay still any longer.â
Nessa sighs. âAlright.â She worries, privately, about what Elphaba will become without her. âBut we will write frequently, yes?â
âOf course.â And in that secluded spot in her heart, Nessa worries about what she will become without Elphaba.
Worries that Elphabaâs true gentleness and affection might no longer be reserved for her. That Elphaba might find someone who can give her something Nessarose couldnât, and decide that this other person is more important.
That she might be a part of what Elphaba is outgrowing.
Not that she allows herself to articulate this thought into words, even in her own mind.
Elphaba stands up straight, then, and turns around to rummage through her things.
âListen, Nessaâ about Turtle Heart.â
âYes,â she says shortly. That frayed knot at the beginning of her existenceâsomething that should have been a shame on her father, perhaps, but which Father had instead turned into the fuel for his holy mission.
âWhen he first came to our parents, he made something for me.â She pulls out a glass disc, at first appearing to be a pale green, but displaying a subtle iridescence as it turns in the light. âI want you to have it. Something of him.â
Nessa frowns. âWould he have approved of me getting something like this?â
âOh, Nessa, he would have adored you.â Elphaba places the disc in the satchel Nessa has strung around her shoulders.
Then, Nessa pitches forward into Elphabaâs embrace. They are both silent.
The moment is broken by Nanny barging into the room. âDo you two have any idea what time it is? Nessa must come to bed, now, it gets dark so late this time of year, we wouldnât want to deprive her of her sleep, now would we?â
Nessa stands up to leave, then turns back with a questioning look.
âIâll probably be gone by the time you wake up,â says Elphaba, âBut I will write, of course.â
Of course.
âFarewell, then,â Nessa says, and leaves.
She ends up placing the disc on her nightstand, unsure of what else to do with it.Father has said that Turtle Heart taught him to make this sort of thing. So she doesnât feel too bad a few days later when she bumps up against the desk and watches, helpless to reach out and catch it, as the disc falls and shatters against the floor.

Bridgerton Brother AU:
So whatâs Daphne and Simon AND Fran and Michael up to?
Also, was Lucy Gregoryâs onstage musical co star that shifted into a real life romance?
Simon is the band's live drummer and quickly forms a close friendship with the brothers during their very first tour. Eventually Daphne accompanies the band when she becomes their tour manager, being in charge of their itinerary and keeping her brothers in check. Though she initially takes her very role very seriously to the point of disgruntling her brothers with just how orderly and authoritative she is with them, a few months into their latest tour she becomes a lot more lax and is less uptight than she originally was. Her brothers are just glad that Daphne has eased off and assume she's become more laid-back in her role after realising she doesn't have to be on their cases because they're more capable than she initially gave them credit for. However it's not until Anthony strolls into Simon's dressing room one day without bothering to knock and discovers his little sister straddling their band's drummer and snogging his face off that it suddenly clicks why Daphne has been in such a better mood as of late. Of course Anthony doesn't quite take Simon hooking up with his sister very well, and Benedict and Colin along with their security team have to break the pair up from fighting each other just twenty minutes before they're meant to be on stage. Things are certainly frosty for a good couple of weeks before Simon and Daphne come to Anthony to make him aware that they're not just fooling around and that there's a genuine connection they believe to be the real deal - and though still peeved, Anthony does acknowledge just how happier his best friend and sister are as a couple and accepts their relationship.
Meanwhile Michael Stirling is a famous actor who has socialised with the Bridgerton Brothers from time to time after previously starring in a couple of projects alongside Edmund. After bumping into the Bridgerton patriarch at an awards function Michael mentions being up for a role which would preferably require an actor who is already proficient in playing the piano, and though he can play it amateurishly he knows the casting director is after someone much more well-versed in tickling the ivories than he can. Edmund offers his help by mentioning his second to youngest daughter just so happens to be a piano teacher and that she could provide him with lessons if Michael's interested. The younger man gratefully takes his co-star up on the offer, though as soon as Francesca opens her door and welcomes him in he immediately has his reservations about staying on as her student because how can he possibly focus when the world's most perfect woman is sat right beside him? Michael was a far cry from his typically cool and flirtatious self during their lessons, restraining himself as best he could from even so much as smiling in her direction in case Francesca told her dad he had tried it on and for Michael to then suffer Edmund's wrath. However as much as Michael was trying to be on his best behaviour, it was Francesca who made the first move and honestly how was he supposed to say no? (Also Michael never realised that Edmund suggested Francesca as a tutor as a way to set the pair up, feeling confident that his daughter would be the right person to make the younger man finally settle down.)
And as for Gregory and Lucy the pair met after being cast in Wicked together; Gregory as Fiyero and Lucy as a member of the ensemble and understudy for Elphaba. It was Hermione (who starred as Glinda) who Gregory initially fell for and begged Lucy to help set him up with her best friend, which Lucy reluctantly did in the hopes that he might stop bugging her. It took ages for Hermione to show even a flicker of interest in him but just as it seemed she might possibly reciprocate Gregory's crush, she suddenly dropped out of the production after finding out she was pregnant with Lucy's brother's baby. Gregory was naturally upset and unfairly resented Lucy for everything that had happened despite Lucy being even more floored that her brother and best friend had been hooking up behind her back and were now going to have a baby together. As best as he could Gregory avoided Lucy, but then she was promoted and took over the role of Elphaba after the previous actress left earlier than planned. Ever the consummate performers, they didn't let their personal drama stand in the way of putting on the best show possible night after night; however with every performance something seemed to grow between them after every onstage kiss, and eventually it dawned on Gregory that he was in love with Lucy far beyond any feelings of infatuation he had held for Hermione. There's only one small problem preventing them from being together; Lucy's engagement to another man.

âIâm sorry for calling you so late at night⌠I needed to hear your voice againâŚâ | modern au?
@elphiae
it had been some time now since he last spoke to elphaba and to be honest, he missed her since their falling out that left fiyero feeling more reserved than usual as he went about his life as if nothing was wrong. sure he could have called her or at least texted her to say hi, but it felt wrong to reach out. instead he just pretended everything was fine so as not to raise suspicion from anyone. though he's sure they picked up on it anyway and sensed that something was wrong despite fiyero not giving anyone a chance to ask about his mood shift.
then one night as he was watching late night tv due to being unable to sleep, his phone rang that he had sitting beside him on the bed. it was strange to have someone call this late, even if he was one to party at night when he wanted to enjoy the night life. at first he assumed it was a friend, but then he saw the name that had him sitting up before answering. hearing elphaba's voice took away any interest he had in the show he had been watching that he muted before speaking in turn. "hey, um..it's good to hear from you. i was actually awake anyway, so..how are you?"
#& dyn: love's just a feeling / elphaba ( elphiae )#& modern verse tba#/ hopefully this is okay!#i figured they could have a falling out for angst reasons
