Writing Share Tag!!!

(yeah, yeah, I write the same thing all the time, shut up it's an obsession)
------
She placed a hand on his shoulder, "Horns."
Jakkon startled, throwing his arms over his head with a yelp of terror as he shrank against the wall, shivering. His knees protected his chest as his fingers dug into the tangles of his hair and he pressed his eyes closed.
"Horns. Horns? Jak!" Rose shook him.
Jakkon flinched, lowering his arms a bit, and blinked rapidly for a few moments. He lifted his head, eyes glazed and unfocused as he squinted at her.
Rose hesitated, surprised, and pulled one of his arms, sending a barrage of questions at him as she tried to tug him to his feet. He groaned softly, movements slow and difficult as his hair fell back into his face. He eventually slipped toward her in an awkward motion, managing to catch himself on one hoof, “E…vie…”
He slumped against her, and Rose flinched at the smell of alcohol. She glanced sidelong at him, the brief detail instantly reframing and explaining everything. His disheveled condition, isolation, disappearance, strange mannerisms. She sighed. At least it seemed he was making good use of the family stores of wine.

Heyo!
Warning in advance for my lovelies!
(For those of you, I may have accidentally @'d, This is Ellia's side blog)
A lot of you voted yes for darker themes in J&R
So if you didn't, watch out.
The next scene I will post stars a character who is specifically centered around SA related trauma.
You have formally been warned
I'll probably post it late tonight or some time tomorrow.
Also.... semi-graphic description of Fye attempting to Roofie Jak
Nothing that would make it R-rated but still
(Pls tell me if you would like to be added or removed from this tag list)

Writing share tag!
Hello hello! Thank you for all of the tags @the-golden-comet, @drchenquill, @theink-stainedfolk @kaylinalexanderbooks and @the-letterbox-archives.
It has been a little while. Anyway scene:
‘But who is he?’ Kell asked.
‘He is a hiresias.’
‘Oh, like a runner for their spy network?’
Xaeren let out a sudden laugh. ‘He couldn’t run to save his life. Trust me, he tried...’ His eyes glazed over as if lost in memory.
‘Then what does he do?’
‘That is the wrong question. The right question is what can he do for us?’
‘Ok, what can he do for us?’
‘You’ll see.’ Xaeren moved through the city as if he had lived there all his life, avoiding cracks in the pavement that must have been older than Kell, and climbing onto the roof with such ease that she wondered if he had secretly used magic.
He offered a hand down to her. ‘Come on.’

Alpha-write
Thanks for the tag @the-golden-comet
A- At last, land on the horizon.
B- Building after building looked abandoned, as if no one had lived in them for years. All except for the last one. It was gaudily painted, and loud noises emanated from every crack.
C- Crabs…why? It did not seem fitting for the favorite Lieutenant of the Demon King to command an army of crabs.
D- “Dude, how long are you going to stand there?”
“Until either I get the high score, or the arcade owner kicks me out.”
E- Every head turned in the direction of the door. The hall fell silent. Jaws slacked, and some people even gasped at what they were seeing.
F- Flanders was hell. Every hour the din of the big guns could be heard, every shot that landed stirred up the mud and wire that lay for miles in between the trenches.
G- “Griefers? AGAIN??”
“It was your idea to try 2B2T!”
H- “How did you manage to graduate the Academy at the top of your class?”
“I cheated.”
I- “If I hear you recite Ozymandias one more time, I’m turning this car around”
J- “Jam? Where I come from, it would be jelly!”
“You Americans have always done things backwards!”
K- “Keep this between us, will you? No one needs to know what happened to the iguana.”
L- Laying between the house and safety was nearly three hundred yards of open field. There was no way she could run across it without attracting attention.
M- Messy would have been an understatement. The room looked like a bomb had gone off in it before a hurricane scattered and smashed everything that hadn’t already been destroyed.
N- No one left the room all day, or all night. The doors remained closed, and no amount of pleading or threatening would get the guards to open them. It was early afternoon the next day when it was announced that the council had reached a decision.
O- “Out of all the possible last words, you choose ‘I think I left the A/C on’?!”
P- Pools of water looked inviting, but they knew not to touch them. Plumes of steam and colorful extremophile bacteria were signs of water that was near boiling. The guide also told them that the water was highly acidic.
Q- Queens, Kings, Dukes, Ministers, and Presidents; all the world’s leaders were gathered inside.
R- “Really? An Anime about flower arranging?”
“Hey, it got good reviews, and it’s been renewed for five more seasons.”
S- Ship. Three masts, square-rigged with a gaff on the mizzen. Deep hold, crew probably about 200 or so, both sailors and officers. Armament of thirty four guns, equal to a Royal Navy frigate.
T- “Two over, carry the three, then shift back to letters, A becomes K, move every other line, and… seriously? This is such an important message and they didn’t bother to change the code?!”
U- “Underneath this bridge here is a troll.”
“It’s concrete, man.”
“You try and find something interesting in Seattle!”
V- Vendettas were nothing to laugh about. Everyone fell dead silent.
W- With all the noise going off, no one had noticed that the mimic had vanished.
X- “Xylophone? Seriously?”
“Would you rather me play kazoo?”
Y- Yet for all their bravery, the knights lacked wisdom. Had they a lick of sense, they wouldn’t have charged headlong at the masses ranks of halberds and crossbows.
Z- Zulu. Alpha. Kilo. Sierra. Lima. Echo. Echo—“Alright! Quit messing around with the flags, or you’ll get worse than double graveyard shift!”

Alphabet Write Tag
Thanks to @honeybewrites for the tag!
Rules: For every letter of the alphabet, comprise a sentence/short paragraph beginning with that letter
This is gonna be a doozy guys. All from Project Gemini, but pulled from various drafts.
A: And with these results that we’ve calculated, we’re able to connect the final piece in better understanding, diagnosing and healing our patients.”
B; Blip. He tiredly swiped his badge in front of a small, wall-mounted monitor.
C: “Clock out for break.”
D: “Did they not teach you anything about being a ‘good representative of Utristan’ zombie while you were in basic, Private,” he smirked, keeping his voice low.
E: Even after scoring high on the ASAPT exam and being a perfect personality match for his career path, it still took numerous recommendations from teachers and summer volunteer mentors for the school to even consider his application.
F: “From what I’ve seen, I think you’re doing pretty well for yourself.
G: Gemini felt his eyebrow twitch slightly, but he kept his facial expression as neutral as possible, “No need to be.”
H: He turned to him and gave a sympathetic smile, “That’s my cue. Hang in there, Álvarez.”
I: It almost felt lonesome seeing as there really was no need for physical visitors since each room had large screens bolted to the wall opposite of the patients, the surface plastered by faint, glitching images of doctors or presumably loved ones.
J: “Just pay for my dinner.”
K: “Kinda need to get my head in the game, though. I’m just ready to start flying already, you know?”
L:“Listen, I know I’m the worst, but you’re probably just going to be with Bruno for most of the time anyway.”
M: “May I have your attention, please? The MPA-0312 Antiquitrain for the 17:09 CrossCountry service to Dreake will arrive shortly. For the safety of yourself and our other guests, please remain behind the turnstile until the antiquitrian has come to a complete stop.”
N: Naturally, he whipped his head up and around to scan the crowd, but to no avail.
O: “Open your fucking eyes, Audrey,” he suddenly yelled at her.
P: PA: “It’s a wonderful Wednesday evening with a warm temperature of 24 degrees Celsius, perfect for downtown mingling!
Q: Quinn’s eyes widened. They opened their mouth to rebut, but Lucia stopped them with a chuckle.
R: “R-Right,” he quivered.
S: “So, I’m guessing you heard about what happened?”
T: The figure kept a firm press on his chest, which limited his struggles.
U: Unknown, Titania District
V: “Very Important. Understand?”
X: Xenovia, Titania District
Y: “You can because I’m giving it to you, and I’m not really giving you a choice about it,” she smiled and, before he could say anything, took his hand and placed the tablet flat in his palm.
Z: “Zodiacs. That's what they're called.”

Hallo for Jak&rose pls
whats a simple daily activity/ motion that they mess up often?
whats something unimportant/frivolous that they hate pationatly.
what phrases, pronunciations, or mannerisms did they pick up from someone/somewhere else?'
what hobby are they good at in private, but bad at in front of others?
when they make a mistake and feel bad, does the guilt differ when its personal versus when its professional?
Thank you for the ask @i-hate-happy-endings ! <333
1 ----
Rose CANNOT cook for the life of her
Jak doesn't do styling of any kind so he usually just wears the first thing he can find and throws his hair into a ponytail (hence why he looks like that)
2 ---
Rose despises any thought of heavy ballgowns (though she does love most dresses)
Jak doesn't care about status or reputation anymore and thinks people who feel the need to uphold theirs are ridiculous
3 ---
Rose Gained a lot of comforting mannerisms from her parents
And Jak gained threats and a shitty mood from being Tortured (in one scene I'm working on, he threatens to rip Fye's teeth out if she touches him, so... uh... yeah)
4 ---
Rose is a great singer and dancer but cannot do it unless she deeply trusts the people around her.
Jak can play a variety of instruments and cook very well, but he hates doing it around people because it stresses him out
5 ---
Rose - Yes, it greatly differs. If it hurts somebody, she feels greatly guilty and often much more in personal matters than professional
But for Jak - Nope. He hates himself just as much no matter if it was for his job or for people he knows (though he has a tendency to self-destruct More if it's personal, though he usually feels mostly the same either/or)

🤡 (muahaha)
🤡How many Wips are you actively working on?
Lol. Thank you for the ask !
Um, how many WIPs am I working on? Too many.
But the main three I have Right now, are the one I'm editing to turn into an actual published book: TCOT, which I mainly post about on my main blog @the-ellia-west
The wip this blog is literally made for. J&R, also Known as Jakkon and Rose because I can't come up with a title and I'm not planning on publishing this either way
Then, the third and final one, StF, Stereotypical Fantasy. It'd exactly what it sounds like, stereotypical child fantasy but aged up and allowed to swear

Weirdest thing about s7 was the lack of marriage discussion.
Hold your horses, this was only suggested the last episode, from someone in no contact with Jon or D?
If you’ve played Crusader Kings games, you know how powerful marriages are in medieval politics:
Sealing alliances (shows trust, and a hostage in case of dishonor)
Gaining your heirs lawful possession of new lands (typically when there are only women in the line of succession)
Increasing your prestige or social standing.
Show examples of marriages/betrothals/attempts at either, for these reasons:
D to Drogo. Catlyn to Nedd. Robb to Freys. All of Margaerys marriages. Sansa to Joffrey. Ellia to Rhaegar.
Tyrion, and Ramsay, to Sansa. Littlefinger to Lysa, and Sansa.
Littlefinger to Lysa, and Sansa.
The male in the marriage, gains all the advantages, and none of the drawbacks, politically. Why did no-one, at Winterfell or otherwise, suggest, or discuss, this possibility to Jon?
Before R+L=J is revealed, he seemingly has every (political) reason to go for it with D. Davos was nudging Jon in that direction.
But he never brought it up. It was his duty as advisor, and (I think?) hand.
“He might not be the most receptive to this marriage idea.” - Davos’s thoughts, probably
Jon should of suggested it, purely from a political point of view, but he didn’t. There are two reasons (pre R+L=J), that he might not propose it:
He thinks D is too weak or incompetent to ever hold the Iron Throne or the Crownlands. (Based on the events this season...)
He doesn’t want to diminish or risk Sansa, her hold on Winterfell, or role as second most powerful leader in the north.
One or both these rationale must have prevented him from proposing marriage, all the way through season 7. There is no way he isn’t smart enough to see it as an option.
That’s the “watsonian“ (in-show) explanation. The “doylist“ (show-makers decision-making) reason, would be interesting to discover. I’d expect Jon to be told R+L=J as soon as he gets back to Winterfell.
They don’t want people to question why he isn’t marrying her, so it’s not discussed.
Except to set the seed for Jonsa, with Littlefinger trying to make Sansa jealous.
Edit: Part II here

Okay I just can't
Listen fam, no matter how the show came to the route of Jon being the legitimate heir it was going to happen in the books regardless we all knew this... come on now. The fucking crow said "King snow" GRRM has been building it up all nice for us from jump so maybe it won't be the exact scenario like in the show but it'll get to the same place. "Different roads can lead to the same castle" Yes Rhaegar did ellia bad we know but for some reason the fandom thinks he was some saint/God/dragon. He was a man with flaws and emotions it's not fair to put him up to a standard that he shouldn't been compared to. He was young and reckless. Besides we really don't know the details of what exactly happened... who knows maybe ellia and him weren't in love at all and it was duty? We don't even know when Rhaegar and Lyanna FUCKING had the time TO fall in love in the first place!! !! I mean really! You're this hot 16 year old northerner engaged to a man whore with drinking issues you go to this medieval version of the super bowl with your brothers, get some bombass flowers from a sexy dragon rockstar prince .... come on guys you can gather why Lyanna was swept up. Be fair. I'm just saying the moment R+L=J was made obvious in both book and show you should have KNOWN Jon was somehow going to be legitimate and the rightful heir. If he was just another Targaryen bastard it wouldn't be THIS big of a thing

These Companies Gave Their C.E.O.s Millions, Just Before Bankruptcy
If you were on the Board of Directors of a company declaring bankruptcy would you: (1) pay the CEO cash bonuses prior to the filing to help retain qualified executives through the recession and bankruptcy, or (2) use the money to rank-and-file employees losing their jobs and creditors? Why? What are the ethics underlying your decision?
The coronavirus recession is pushing many companies into bankruptcy, a painful process that has led to layoffs, wiped out some investors and hurt the economy.
But the chief executives of some of these businesses are doing just fine.
Companies that are struggling to pay creditors and suppliers are managing to find millions of dollars to pay bonuses to their bosses. The payments, which are made just before a bankruptcy filing, appear to be legal and have been made by several companies.
J.C. Penney, which is closing 154 stores, paid its chief executive, Jill Soltau, $4.5 million. The chief executive of Whiting Petroleum, which sought bankruptcy protection in April, received $6.4 million, and Chesapeake Energy is paying bonuses ahead of an expected bankruptcy filing. Executives at Hertz also got payments before the rental-car giant sought bankruptcy protection.
Companies have said the payments are meant to help them retain qualified executives through the recession and bankruptcy.
But critics counter that the money would be better spent on rank-and-file employees. “It makes me angry because they are not taking care of the people who are actually making the money,” said Liz Marin, who worked at Toys “R” Us when it filed for bankruptcy and is now an organizer in training at United for Respect, a nonprofit organization that seeks to help retail workers. Toys “R” Us paid bonuses to executives before its bankruptcy.
Hold on, why are these C.E.O.s still employed?
Chief executives who lead companies into bankruptcy are at risk of losing their jobs. Geisha Williams left Pacific Gas & Electric, the giant California utility, in January 2019, just before the company filed for bankruptcy protection, for example.
But other corporate boards, which hire the chief executive and set compensation for senior officers, seem to be showing more grace toward the boss. In many cases, the executives could do little to prevent the crushing falloff in business that occurred when the pandemic and lockdowns stopped people going into stores, eating out and taking trips. The drop in the oil price this year was unusually large, walloping many energy companies, though some, like Chesapeake, were already burdened with large debts.
Can’t a bankruptcy judge prevent companies from handing out big bonuses?
Certain outlays that a company makes just before bankruptcy — for instance, payments to suppliers — are at risk of being clawed back. But the bonus payments typically don’t fall into that category, legal scholars say.
Typically, a company in bankruptcy court has to get a judge’s approval before doing just about anything of importance, especially spending millions of dollars. If a chief executive got a new compensation package during bankruptcy, a judge would have to decide whether the compensation was justified after hearing from creditors, shareholders and other groups. But this can be a drawn-out and expensive process — a big reason companies pay bonuses before bankruptcy.
Why are the C.E.O.s getting cash?
In normal times, a large portion of executive compensation is paid out in stock-based awards that top officers earn over time. But the stock of a bankrupt company is most likely going to be wiped out or be worth little once a company resolves its bankruptcy or, in extreme cases, sells off its assets and goes out of business.
As a result, boards have quickly changed how top officers are paid, giving them cash bonuses instead of stock-based awards. But paying cash up front can be a windfall for chief executives when the livelihood of employees is under threat.
“The companies are creating certainty for their C.E.O.s at a time of the greatest uncertainty for the employee base and the company in general,” said Brett Miller, head of data solutions for the responsible-investment arm of Institutional Shareholder Services, which advises investors on corporate governance issues.
How big are these bonuses compared with what executives earned before?
Some companies point out that their cash bonuses are smaller than the incentive-linked compensation previously awarded to executives. Chesapeake said in a filing that its chief executive, Robert D. Lawler, was eligible for a cash bonus 34 percent smaller than the $13.5 million at which his 2019 variable compensation was valued. Ms. Soltau of J.C. Penney got a $4.5 million cash bonus before the retailer declared bankruptcy, much lower than the $8.2 million at which her 2019 incentive-based awards were initially valued.
But some stock awards had slumped in value, as share prices of troubled companies plummeted, even before the pandemic took hold. Put another way, the cash bonuses may have enabled the executives to recover pay that they had most likely already lost, possibly for good.
Some companies don’t even try to argue that executive pay was cut. At $6.4 million, the cash bonus paid to Whiting Petroleum’s chief executive, Bradley J. Holly, is larger than the $5.5 million at which the company valued his total compensation for 2019.
And of course the bonuses are far higher than what regular employees earn. Ms. Soltau’s was many times the $11,482 the retailer’s median employee, a part-time worker, earned during J.C. Penney’s 2019 fiscal year, according to a securities filing.
Are troubled companies linking bonuses to goals in any way?
The cash bonuses have also led to the concealing, loosening and removal of the tools companies normally use to tie pay to performance, which many critics contend were already too weak. Companies still operate when seeking protection under Chapter 11 of the bankruptcy code. And in theory, boards could require chief executives to hit sales targets or achieve other goals.
And in some cases, a few strings remain. Ms. Soltau has to repay a fifth of her cash bonus if she fails to achieve certain performance goals, and Mr. Lawler has to repay half of his. But J.C. Penney and Chesapeake did not disclose the goals in their securities filings and declined to answer questions about them.
Hertz and Whiting, the oil and gas company, did not tie cash bonuses to performance goals at all. Whiting and Mr. Holly didn’t respond to requests from comment, but the company said in a securities filing that the new bonuses “eliminate any potential misalignment of interests that would likely arise if existing performance metrics were retained and/or new performance metrics were established at a volatile and uncertain time.”
Could lawmakers do anything about these bonuses?
This is not the first time that executive pay at troubled companies has prompted an outcry. Congress passed a law in 2005 aimed at curbing retention bonuses paid during bankruptcy. Under the law, companies are allowed to pay incentive-based bonuses, but the legal cost of constructing such payments and getting them approved in bankruptcy court soared after 2005, according to research by Jared Ellias, a professor at the University of California’s Hastings College of the Law.
Of course, Congress could change bankruptcy law so that compensation payments made before the filing could be clawed back, Mr. Ellias said. In addition, lawmakers could make it easier for creditors to pursue claims against executives after the bankruptcy.
“This doesn’t feel right,” he said of the recent large bonuses, “and it doesn’t instill public confidence in the bankruptcy system.”
