Anyway I’m up for reasons that suck so I’m ranking everyone I’ve met in DAI by feral gay energy
1) Vivienne. Sorry Krem she is more feral
2) Krem. Feral with extra gay
3) Lelianna. No hiding no fucks to give she will rule the world with her army of wlw
4) Varric. I blame the v-neck
5) Cassandra. WHO THE FUCK DECIDED THIS WOMAN IS HETEROSEXUAL. THEY ARE WRONG.
6) Josephine. Extremely gay but also very domesticated. Siamese cat of gay
7) Ritts the Scout. Feral as hell, gay as hell, docked points solely because I cannot bring her everywhere in my pocket and they fridged her gf
8) Cullen. They made all his animations extra gay to make up for lack of gay dialogue but he will not survive the winter
9) Solas. No energy at all. Not gay not straight not feral he’s just kinda here. Like hearing him talk about magic but I feel like we could just nap together
I shall update these rankings when we get more new friends in and LET ME TELL YOU
We’re going on the Sera quest tomorrow so AT LEAST 7 of these bitches about to move down
(Maybe also Iron Bull if we’re lucky but we’ll see there’s a lot to do)

I really feel like so many people who hate Vivienne for being power hungry do not fully grasp and appreciate the desperation that Vivienne feels because she conceals it so well… as little content as she got, she honestly is expertly written and presented and it’s why it disappoints me so much when people hate her for surface level reasons… her writer deserves so much more appreciation.
I think it is subtle because she hides it and you really have to care about the character to seek out these threads and understand her motivations… she is in danger of total irrelevance, being cast aside by society (and history), and she is forced to ride the coattails of some upstart organization because all of the institutions she is invested in have either totally failed her or cast her aside.
She is clearly a prideful person who does not readily admit this… but her true talent is how clearly she can evaluate this and understand her own position. She suffers no delusions. She knows the Circle’s standing in society is diminished to nothing if it doesn’t house and account for the majority of mages, and she is left with just meek Chantry loyalists and sycophants who are lost without her guiding hand, as even otherwise pro-Circle mages with any sense have abandoned ship and left both rebels and loyalists at this point to see where the chips fall (Ellandra) - and the Chantry itself has been all but decimated in terms of military and political power. The one lifeline she has is the Imperial Court, and the fickle nobility have moved on from her - the mages are now a threat that she cannot control or offer any meaningful opposition to, and Celene’s favor has turned to Morrigan, and Vivienne does not know if she will ever have it again. She knows Bastien is dying, and that all that she has left at court will be those who hold kind feelings towards her such as his family, and that is a position she can never accept - being at the mercy of others.
We meet Vivienne, this impressive, powerful mage, who has made a life for herself by maneuvering brilliantly, all to improve her own standing, at a point where she is in danger of losing everything she has. And she doesn’t let on, at least not explicitly, but she joins the Inquisition out of desperation - it’s obvious she sees it as an opportunity, but the gravity of the situation for her isn’t clear from the start. She refuses to lay down and fade away. Vivienne would never had joined this fledgling upstart organization if she was in a better position at Court or there wasn’t a vacuum of power. She is very close to having nothing left, and starting over - and so she does. Before the rug can be pulled from under her, she gets out and sets off for herself again.
Vivienne, often accused of pride, privilege, and self importance, comes to the Inquisitor out of pure humility. She knows she is reduced. And her gamble ultimately pays off, and the Inquisition becomes the political juggernaut that it does, and she becomes more powerful and important than ever just by association. And I like to think, especially with an Inquisitor who respects and befriends her, that she plays no small part in shaping the organization.
I think this is also why, potentially, she plays it so cool at the Winter Palace. She doesn’t get involved… she doesn’t need to. Simply being present is a statement to the court, and she truly doesn’t care about who wins; it’s not just the Game, it’s personal, despite what she claims. That they cast her aside, and now they are interested again… not necessarily in her, but still, she sees the paradigm shifting again. She is now a part of the organization who gets to change Orlais, and favor with the Inquisition is quickly becoming just as important as favor with Celene.
The whole arc is a subtle one as she really doesn’t get much attention, but if you pay close attention, it shows how expertly Vivienne plays politics. We already know she came from nothing and maneuvered into a powerful position. But I think not everyone realizes she is nearly back to nothing when we first meet her… and through the course of the game’s events, by allying with the right people, she plays the game well enough to become an advisor to the most influential person in southern Thedas… and potentially even Divine. But her initial plea to the Inquisitor, for all the great lengths she goes to keep up the appearance of strength and invulnerability, comes from a place of utter desperation.

Family: A Baldur's Gate 3 Fanfic Rec List
Tumblr media
This week, we have the theme of Family!  Check under the cut for 5 super sweet fics that explore the soft, and yet sometimes painful, dynamic of familial bonds. And as always, comment and kudos if you like them!
Family (Re)Union by SheWolfofVilnius (3664, Teen) Content Notes: NA Pairings: Tav/Wyll
Furiella (Tav) tries to understand Ulder Ravengard's hesitations about her relationship with Wyll
Reccer says: This is such a well-written fic that gives a lovely summary of Furiella and Wyll's relationship through the game before talking with Duke Ravengard. I really like that the author tried to explore what it would be like to be another infernally touched character that Wyll brought home to his father. Great scenery, great dialogue, made my heart very happy!
Tumblr media
Unlovable by LostInForestBound (3199, Teen) Content Notes: Implied/Referenced Child Abuse Pairings: Cal & Lia & Rolan
An unwanted, despised child wanders Elturel during one of the worst storms the city has ever seen, looking for scraps to survive the night. Instead, he finds a home.
Reccer says: I absolutely adore this! The angst is perfect, and the comfort even better
Tumblr media
Our Turn by GraySparrow (2204, Teen) Content Notes: None Pairings: Cal & Lia & Rolan
Lia and Cal take care of Rolan following the climactic battle with Lorroakan and taking over Ramazith’s Tower. Rolan has to come to terms with what has happened.
Reccer says: Good family banter and excellent hurt/comfort
Tumblr media
Krakens by Tynithia (934, General) Content Notes: NA Pairings: Tav/OC
A look into the family life of Gale's grandfather and great-grandfather as the younger tries to overcome his fear of deep water.
Reccer says: A very, very cute fic that really captures what its like to try and reason with a five year old over anything. ESPECIALLY when that five year old is a Dekarios.
Tumblr media
And we have three recs total for: Julia by Tynithia (795, Teen) Content Notes: None Pairings: Gale & Tav, Morena Dekarios & Gale, Dekarios family
A short and sweet fic about Ellandra (Tav) who has become a part of the Dekarios family over the years attending their annual family vacation.
Reccer #1 says: It was so sweet to learn more of Gale's backstory and family. The author also has several other short stories focusing on the same themes and they are absolutely lovely! Reccer #2 says: A very cute, short fic with an OC that I have very much come to love from this author. I always love seeing Morena Dekarios make an appearance in Gale fics and I really enjoy how she's written here! Reccer #3 says: These are so much fun! One of a series of one shots for Galemancer week by this writer - they're all cute and family oriented, focusing on Gale's family - this one is my favourite. Ellandra (Tav) is an Elf and has known the family for a very long time, making a lot of the dialogue poignant and heart-warming as past memories become entwined with the present. Love the interactions in these short and sweet scenes into Gale's extended family life.
Tumblr media
The above fanfic recommendations were pulled from our community for this weekly event. Have any questions about what this is? Check out the FAQ! Next week, we’ll be coming in with our first instance of a recurring theme, with Hidden Gems!
Hidden Gems fics are any fics with less than 150 kudos! We want to uplift authors in our community, and sometimes all a fic needs is that little push. So tune in next week!

oh, very well then.
PRIDE & PREJUDICE STARTERS: still accepting.
"Please, Karlach," Gale begins, tone terribly offended. "I think our illustrious Ellandra Tolbert deserves a mite more enthusiasm."
But then, what's a manual of necromancy to their own little ring of fire? It's a riveting read, of course, were one of the mind for more death-seeping arts, but to her, this book served better as a coaster for his jasmine — which, unlike his read, rests well regarded. Darling little Karlach with her uproarious interests... She is a woman of passion. She is a woman of heart. And with her soul torched plainly as though ink upon her skin, Gale, ever thinking, knows her flavor.
Find something dramatic, he posits. Scour for a book with its deal in drama. And, well, perhaps tomes on magic won't tickle her opinion, but stunningly, it's hardly just manuals that this wizard so basks in. No, no. Fishing out a book, he finds the title.
See? Salacious but tasteful! Delicious and rapt! Brow raised, Gale opens to a page and eyes their tiefling when heavily, suspensefully, the mood is set:
"'You've stolen my senses'," he narrates, "and every night without you is an agony I cannot bear." Oh. "'I have suffered an emptiness whose depths are only dwarfed by my shattering affections for you. I beg you, end my torment and smother this wanting. You have long possessed me in every way one could desire.' She gasps. She kisses him madly and ends his ache." Romantic, steamy, and sentimental besides? Riveted, Gale snaps the book shut, grin dizzyingly cheeky. "If I'd read you correctly, this might appeal to you a tremendous deal more. That said, were I to let you borrow this, I ask only that you don't let Astarion see it. The man couldn't appreciate romance with any manner of substance. I'd like to be spared of condescension if it's all the same to you."

The Adventures of Wandoline Redwitch
Tumblr media
Because I have no original ideas whatsoever, here's Wandoline! Who I modelled after Wanda Maximoff, as portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen. I mainly just wanted to play around with the magic system and, and while I like the premade Sims, I just wanted to hang out in the Magic Realm with a fresh character, so created a Sim to do so.
Tumblr media
She spends most of her time in the Realm, but she does have a house, this quaint Victorian cottage, built where the Brooks Bridge Borough once sat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also here are the three sages that have received a much needed makeover. Morgyn actually looked ok, I really loved the androgyny they went with, so I didn't do much with them, just lightened their hair and colour of their clothing. I initially thought Morgyn was going to be the "main character" that you can play as, and did want to play as them, but was surprised to see that they are a sage.
Tumblr media
Simeon is such a great character. I gave him a more tweedy, bookish academia kinda look, since one of his traits is that he's a snob, so I don't think he'd dress like a hobo, and also changed his surname to Brownsweater, which I thought matches his practical proclivities better.
Tumblr media
L. Faba got a massive makeover. I actually really liked the original sage I saw in the trailer, whom she seems to replace, so I modelled her after that, although making her look more serpentine and silvery. I therefore also changed her name to Ellandra Silvervine, in keeping with how each of the sages should correspond to a colour.

A Thousand Lives - Short Story
*Ellandra has an unfortunate problem, she keeps getting summoned to alternate universes to solve their problems and act as their hero.* By my thirtieth birthday I had lived seven deaths. It only happened every other year or so, but from the age of fourteen wandering through an archway in the library and finding myself in a world an awful lot like Camelot—sword in magical rock included— I had…

The Pantheon: Ellandra
Goddess of Farmers, Fishermen, and Gardeners
Lawful Good
She/Her
Holy Symbol: Water Droplet
Cleric Domains: Nature, Life
"Those who look down upon you are the weakest of them all They do not understand how quickly the world would fall to chaos If those who work the fields and hunt in the waters were to leave Despite this ignorance, maintain a humble air It is not your fault that they do not understand"
One would be hard pressed to find her temples in large cities. These small naturally grown temples are more likely to be found in small villages, especially those that are heavily agriculture or hunting based. These temples are often naturally grown from trees and dense foliage, nothing is cut or carved to create these temples. Everything from the alters, to the walls, to the pews are naturally grown plants that formed those features. It is often debated if it is Ellandra herself who grows these temples or if the Clerics and few Druids who follow her that grow them.
The more nature based countries on the continent of Vaucia are more prone to having these temples. The inside of these temples look similar to the outside but the floor is often a stone floor with moss that has grown across it.
Despite the symbol of Ellandra being a waterdrop, this symbol often only appears on holy symbols and clothing. Within the temples themselves, this is represented by a small waterfall that magickally emanates from the wall of the temple.
One would commonly find worshipers of Ellandra burning herbs, as well as providing their own food via hunting and foraging rather than buying it.

Jaina!
Under the read more is more information about Jaina, her family and her history
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Portraits of Jaina done by LavenderElf and Sneaksandsweets
DOB: 17th Hearthfire 4E165
DOB: 17th Hearthfire 4E165
Gender: Female
Race: Nord/Dunmer
Appearance: Jaina is 5foot 10inches with long black hair that she keeps in a bun or braid, she has reddish-brown eyes and there is a slight point to her ears because of her half-elf blood
Occupation: Dragonborn & Companion
Factions: College of Winterhold, Companions, Thieves Guild & Stormcloaks
Tumblr media
Jaina and her twin brother - Tal’theran - were born in Tel Mithryn to a Nord mother and Dunmer father (her father died 2 months before she was born). When her mother - Helena - had recovered from the birth she returned to her family home in Whiterun, where the 3 of them lived with Helena’s cousin, Jarl Balgruuf. When Jaina was 3 her mother remarried an Imperial called Xander Tullius (who is the younger brother to the Military Governor of Skyrim, Jasper Tullius) Helena and Xander had 4 daughters and adopted an Altmer boy who was living at Honorhall.
When Jaina was 17 she went to the College of Winterhold and spent nearly 2 years there before joining the Companions, where she remained, as well as doing a couple of odd jobs for the Thieves Guild, until she was captured at Darkwater Crossing and took to Helgen for execution.
While in the Companions she became a werewolf, something she didn’t want but had no control over her fate, as time went on she became used to it, although she is very reluctant to change into her form, she finds it harder to control her temper because of her Lycanthropy too.
Tumblr media
Her siblings are (with their partners):
Brother - Tal’theran - married to a Nord called Cathryn
Sister - Talia - in a relationship with Ralof
Sister - Cassandra - in a relationship with Brynjolf
Sister - Ellandra - in a relationship with Vilkas
Sister - Madeline - in a relationship with Farkas
Adopted Brother - Haldir - in a relationship with a fellow high elf called Ellinora
When she is training with the companions she get trained the most by Skjor, who takes her under his wing, the pair became very close and he sees her almost as a daughter to him, she’s fine with that, with her biological father dying before she was born she finds comfort in paternal relationships, she has a similar relationship with her stepfather and her mother’s cousin
Her biological father was a Dunmer called Tal’theran (of whom Jaina’s twin brother is named after) who worked as a mercenary for most of his early life, meeting and becoming very good friends with fellow mercenary Teldryn Sero, while adventuring across Morrowind he met and befriended the Telvanni wizard, Neloth, doing several jobs for him, little is know of his history, the only people who know it are Teldryn and Neloth themselves. Tal and Teldryn travelled to Skyrim several times, doing jobs for Jarls and Kings due to their reputation. While in Whiterun he met and fell in love with Helena, cousin to the young Jarl Balgruuf, the couple married and settled in Tel Mithryn. While Helena was carrying his twin children, Tal did more jobs to make sure his growing family were never without money, while on a job with Teldryn they were ambushed by people from his past, despite their combined skill, Tal was killed and Teldryn was badly injured. Teldryn - despite his injuries - managed to get Tal back to Tel Mithryn, where he was buried.
Tumblr media
When Jaina was a student at the College of Winterhold she spent some time studying at Windhelm with the Court Mage there, while she was living at the palace Ulfric Stormcloak returned from Markarth, the pair didn’t have the best of starts, with the new Jarl insulting her skills with a sword. After nearly 18 years the pair meet again, in Helgen. Once Jaina becomes Dragonborn they meet again and this begins their friendship and eventual romance.
Tumblr media
Art done by Sneaksandsweets
She’s a Spell-sword, using her inherent magical abilities (from her father) specialising in fire and healing magic, her many years with the Companions have made her incredibly skilled with both one and two handed weapons, she wears light armour because she finds leather armour far easier to move around in compared to things like steel
Jaina is a skilled alchemist and healer as well as a talented smith, she spends her free time reading, she studied history at the college of Winterhold and has a small understanding of ancient Nordic
Her most frequently used shouts are Fire Breath and Summon Durnehviir, using the old Dragon as a way of travelling across the country as well as making a good friend out of him, she often summons him for a conversation if she needs to talk to someone

“I think it’s time we consider the orb,” Gale said to her.
Ellandra took a deep breath, as her great-grandson continued laying out his reasons on why he should use the bomb in his chest to destroy the Netherbrain. They had gone over this before, but clearly everything they talked about went one in ear and out the other. He was just like his great-grandfather sometimes. Fucking wizards.
“Once I am in position, I will ensure you are removed to a safe…”
Ellandra cut him off.
“You know, Gaius and I never once raised our voice or our hands to your grandfather. Not the time he burned the rugs. Not the time he ruined the apple orchard at the estate with a hail storm. And not the time he blew a hole through the wall of the house using a fireball,” Ellandra calmly said. “But, I swear to Mystra, I will smack you in front of everyone if you keep talking this nonsense.”
“Ellie.”
“Absolutely not! The Emperor already agreed to wield the stones. So, stop trying to be a fucking martyr and let’s go,” she pushed past him and rolled her eyes.
“If you are wondering that was Mom speak for ‘she loves you and doesn’t want you to die’,” she heard Astarion say to Gale.

Interesting.
If you use Vivienne to persuade Enchanter Ellandra to join the Inquisition (at the Crossroads in the Hinterlands), Sera slightly disapproves.
And I think it’s because she views it as almost conscription. In Sera’s view, what the Inquisitor has done is heard someone say ‘No’, then gone and found someone superior to them (a boss, basically) to bully them into saying ‘Yes’. Ellandra is noticeably flustered by Vivienne’s presence and, whilst Vivienne herself certainly doesn’t ‘bully’ (she’s actually pretty inspirational) I can see why someone with Sera’s views might see it that way.
I actually reloaded cos I’m playing a very pro-mage freedom Dalish elf and Vivienne’s promise to restore order is NOT what my girl is after. And if you use the Arcane choice, that tells Ellandra there’s options for study and healing and that she could really help, Sera doesn’t care. It’s specifically the ‘bringing in the big guns’ element of getting Vivienne in that pisses her off. Especially because Vivienne’s desire for order is also what Sera wants.
I rarely bring these two at the same time and they’re so SO different it’s fascinating. I also love how our own character’s choices play into which one we agree with - my pro-Circle Trevelyan was practically fangirling over Vivienne at this point, whereas my Lavellan is highly, highly suspicious.

Prompt number: 13. “I never knew it could be this way.”
Original fiction: Spring and Death
Rating: G
Warnings/Tags: N/A
AO3 Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/20982905
Hoclio sat in the middle of the garden and stared up at the sky. The sun wasn't real, but it did help him to imagine the warm sun rays hitting his skin.
"I thought I'd find you here," he heard Nudari say.
Hoclio look up and spot Nudari staring down at him. His jacket was covered in dirt and his jeans looked torn and faded.
"Did you see your dad?" Hoclio asked him
"I did. Oina visited my mom earlier. They still pin after one another after all of these years."
Nudari sat next to him and stared up at the sky. Hoclio noted that Nudari always seemed a bit down every time he visited either parent.
"I don't think I ever heard the story about your parents. How did they get separated?" Hoclio asked him.
"Mother, like always. She didn't want my parents to be together. She thought they betrayed them, so she separated them as a punishment."
Hoclio picked at the grass next to him and plucked a single flower out from the grass.
"Can you tell me the story of how you got here?" he heard Nudari request.
It was a story he didn't like to share too much, but he believes that if he talked about it, it may help move on with his past.
"I fell in love with a human. I believed that she loved me, too, so we decided to get married in secret. I guess she couldn't handle the pressure and she betrayed me. She told everyone that I kidnapped her and forced her to marry me. I guess that's why Mother made me the patron of marriage and love," Hoclio recalled.
The air was silent around them. All he could hear was the sound of birds in the distance.
"I'm sorry you were betrayed. She broke your trust," Nudari apologized.
"Why? You didn't create them."
"Still. I should've protected all of my creations from humans."
"It's okay. I don't blame you for what happened to me."
Hoclio stared at Nudari with interest. He always thought the older god was handsome. His soft dark hair was falling over his tanned face. Nudari looked up at him and saw his dark brown eyes having a hint of gold in them.
"So what are you in Aural's dreamscape anyway? Usually I'd find you in Ellandra's or Celino's," Nudari asked him.
"I needed somewhere to think. Aural gave me permission to use hers. She said I needed some color on my skin," he answered.
"You do know that the sun isn't right? If you want, I can take you to the mortal world and let you take in the sun's rays instead," Nudari offered.
Hoclio gave him a soft smile. "I think I'd like that. It would be nice to go to the mortal world that doesn't involve blessing weddings."
The two were silent once more. However, it didn't feel awkward to Hoclio. It felt almost comfortable. He had every urge to lay his head on Nudari's shoulder, but had to restrain himself greatly. He couldn't let the older god know that he has a stupid crush on him.
"Did you think this was what your afterlife would be?" he heard Nudari ask.
Hoclio had to think about it. It wasn't ideal, but he wouldn't complain about it.
"Honestly? I never knew it could be this way."
"I'd that bad or good?"
"I think it's a good thing. Even though I'm a god and will be remembered for years, I like it here. I like the friends I've made here." I like you.
"I'm glad. I think I'll leave you here for now. Mother only granted me an hour of my time until I go back to work," Nudari said.
"You spent your hour out here with me?" Hoclio asked. "Why?"
Nudari got up from the grass and gave him a smile. "Do I need a reason?"
The older god left the simulation, leaving Hoclio alone with his thoughts. Maybe there is hope for him after all.
