These poor babies were dumped today by the Igloo in Elko. Both female. If you can, please consider adopting them from the Elko animal shelter. The shelter is over capacity. People are dumping their dogs left and right. Everyday there are half a dozen puppies being dumped around town. Please people, stop doing this. This is the same as dumping a human toddler. Try to rehome yourself. There are a ton of ways to do this through social media and animal groups. If that doesn't work then surrender at the shelter or better yet the humane society in Murray. If you don't want to pay the fee then sit your butt in front of a grocery store or at a stoplight with a sign until you find a decent person who will adopt the animal that you are choosing to cast aside. Please spay and neuter your animals and do not give them as gifts. This weekend many dogs were found on north 5th street in Elko by a kind citizen (Gloria Gomez who took this photo) and taken to the shelter. Some are in very bad shape. The shelter can take donations over the phone or in person. Please even $10 would help. The number is (775)777-7333 or can donate cash in person. One dog is available for adoption the rest are under observation. I just received this scam call. And they were pretty convincing at first. It came from the sheriff office number and the man said he was sergeant Travis Deaver. And that should have been my first clue it was a scam since I think sheriff has deputies not sergeants. I had him spell it. He said I missed a court date Dec 7 for missing jury duty. I told him I hadn't received any jury duty notice in the mail. He said that two officers served me a subpoena on Nov 13 at my address in Wells (he had the house address) and that someone signed for it. I told him I had moved to Elko in October, was sick with covid most of November and quarantined, and my renters wouldn't have signed without telling me. He said I would need to provide documentation of my new address in Elko and prove the signature on the subpoena wasn't mine. I argued more that there was no way I was in wells and signed a subpoena Nov 13. He said someone signed it and that's why I was to appear before Nancy Porter on Dec. 7. And that's where I knew it was a scam. Porter resigned last month. The guy said no she was still in office. I told him that was absolutely incorrect. He said she was down the hallway and he would get her on the phone (ha ha! Sheriff office is on the other side of town, and like a deputy could just get a judge on the phone like that). I said this feels like a scam, I'm calling the sheriff office myself. He hung up. I called the real sheriff and they said they knew about the scam. I didn't let it get to the point of him asking for money but that is the goal. Law enforcement will never call you to let you know about a warrant. They will find you in person. And jury duty notices will be in the mail; you won't be served a subpoena for that.
