Gentle information sharing that if you make under $19k a year you probably qualify for food stamps and state Medicaid. This varies state to state, but absolutely worth a Google.

It was extremely easy to apply and I now have full medical, some dental, psych, and $280 a month of food completely free.

No co-pays. And because Oregon is... slightly less bad than many states, many types of therapy are covered, a chiropractor, gender affirming surgery, it goes on. Abortion. I just got in with my free PCP who also offers telehealth.

Please look into benefits. It varies state by state, my experiences in the Midwest and South weren't as easy and all-encompassing. But SNAP and Medicaid made things possible for my dad and I in Indiana too, and I'm deeply grateful he taught me not to listen to internalized shame about it.

Predicting the Playoffs Results

Right before the playoffs started, I asked many of you to make a bunch of predictions as to the result, and assigned points based on the questions. Here is the final writeup on that, but first, congratulations to the winners:

Hopefully the way I phrased each question in the chart makes sense. Let’s discuss some interesting trivia from the chart.

After seeing the results of last years’ game, one thing I wanted to do was to make it easier: have more opportunities to gain points, so we would have a wider distribution of results and higher scores. I would say I was fairly successful in the attempt, with the exception of one question, near the end of the quiz. It was phrased “by the end of the playoffs, which goalie will have the best win%? They do not need to have played in the Cup Final.” Adhering to the rules of the question, the correct answer is Joseph Woll, who played 2 games in the first round and won them both. However, no one guessed this; I assume it is not because people are unaware of Joseph Woll, who is widely beloved as A Sweetie, but rather because a large win percentage generally assumes a team that goes far in the playoffs and, well, Woll is a Leaf. I think when writing this question I also had this in mind, probably being distantly aware of the off-chance something like this might occur but not believing it likely enough to include. That being said, while it’s technically the correct answer to the question, it feels wrong, so in future quizzes that question’s going to be changed.

The answer the most people picked correctly was the winner of the CAR-NYI series, which 114 people -- 87% -- picked correctly. The second-most correctly-answered q was the newbie who would make it the furthest, with a clean 100 (76%) picking Vancouver. 

I think the most impressive answer was the Conn Smythe pick: 35 people picked McDavid, which is not in and of itself a large percent (only 27%) but has a much larger pool of candidates: the first two above-mentioned questions were multiple choice, with 2 or 3 answers, while people picked 3 out of literally hundreds of possible choices, and still fully a quarter of people managed to choose correctly. Additionally, eight people picked both McDavid as a Conn Smythe candidate and Florida to win the Cup.

Here’s the top ten (well, eleven) Conn Smythe picks. While in theory, there were 393 total votes available (131 responses and each responder was encouraged to pick 3 players) not everyone did -- a few people only put in one name, and one person just wrote in “No idea,” who as far as I’m aware was not eligible as a Conn Smythe candidate.

Quinn Hughes mania really swept the nation. Last year, the most-voted-for Conn Smythe winner was Connor McDavid, who got 43 votes. This year, Quinn Hughes got 52! (Caveat: there were about 25 more voters this year than last year, which means that the proportion is actually pretty similar -- about 40% both years.)

chemistry was the bane of your existence.

you’re standing outside your professor’s office waiting to be allowed in for office hours. you’re just two weeks into the semester and this is just the second quiz, but you’re already failing the course. you really thought that the earlier quizzes were supposed to be easier but after seeing that bright red 1/10 on your returned quiz this morning, you were starting to second guess all your life choices. you still have a week left to drop the class, but it was required in order for you to graduate. you could always pass/fail it, but then that affects your eligibility for one of your scholarships. was it too late to change majors in the second semester of your junior year?

the door opened and your professor welcomed you in. you sat in the chair opposite him in silence for a few minutes. he looks at you hoping you would break the awkwardness, but to his disappointment, you played with your hands in your lap. he clears his throat. “so what brings you to my office hours?”

“right, oh, umm…” you hesitated. “i was concerned about my quiz scores.”

“oh, i see.”

“i do study hard for the quizzes.” you try to convince him. “and i feel like i understand the concepts in class, but when it comes to taking the actual quizzes, i don’t really know what goes wrong.”

“okay, well did you have your quiz with you?” you rush to pull out your binder out of your backpack. “maybe we could go over some of the questions and see what you’re getting wrong.” you nod.

he goes over the quiz with you but with every question, you sink further into your chair. it feels like a weight is placed on your chest and now you’re really contemplating dropping the class. your professor sees your discomfort and puts the quiz away.

“you know what,” he begins. “i have a ta for one of my other classes who took this class last semester. her name is lia and she also tutors, so i’m going to send you her information so you can reach out to her.”

you slink out of his office and receive his email with lia’s contact info. later that week, you finally meet at a cafe off campus. it was late in the afternoon and you were sitting at the back by the windows when you saw her walk in. and you knew it was her because you did a minor social media crawl the night prior. but even with that, you had to work hard to stop your jaw from dropping when you saw her in person. was it even possible for someone to be that stunning?

“hi, lia!” you wave at her, a little too eagerly and she walks over to you.

“hi, you must be y/n.” she sat down beside you. “this place is really nice. how did you find it?”

“i had a friend who used to work here.” you looked around at the cafe, rubbing the back of your neck. it was practically empty save for the one barista working and a couple sitting in the other corner. “it has a better atmosphere than the other places on campus and the library creeps me out.” you want to scold yourself for rambling but stop yourself when she laughs at the last part.

“yeah, there are always too many people and the lack of windows starts getting to you after hour three.” she sets her computer and her notebook on the table beside your textbook. “so, did you want to start with anything today?”

“uh, i think we could go over what we talked about in class this week. we have a quiz on tuesday that i’m really nervous about. i don’t know if you already have this, but i also brought a copy of the syllabus, in case you wanted to see it.” you fished through your stuff for the large packet. “i really just wanted to thank you for meeting with me today. i’m going to stop rambling now but if you want to get anything to drink, it’s on me.”

“you're so cute.” she takes the syllabus from you and flips through it. “y/n, it’s fine, seriously, you don’t have to buy me a drink and besides, you’re already paying me, remember?”

the two of you work endlessly for about three hours going over the concepts before she closes the textbook in front of you. lia tries to mask the look of defeat on her face but she doesn’t have the best poker face. “why don’t we try something else?”

“i feel like this is hopeless.” you groan, and rest your head against the cold table. “and it’s already getting dark outside.”

“ok, why don’t we meet tomorrow? i honestly feel like we are making progress.”

“the only thing that progressed was my hatred for chem-2 and all sciences as a whole.” you shove your things in your bag and walk outside with lia.

the next morning you woke up to a text message.

lia: good morning!! quiz on tuesday gotta keep your ion the prize:)) lia: that was really bad :/ lia: i’m sorry lia: drinks on me today 

you see lia waiting for you at the same cafe with a cup of iced coffee beside her scrolling through her phone. she looks up and spots you, her face glowing as she smiles at you.

“i thought we could try something different today. we could go over the concepts from the quiz and then you can try re-explaining them to me in your own words.” you’re halfway done covering the key concepts the first time and you feel like you’re getting a grasp on what you’ve learnt so far in the semester.

“you are way better at explaining things than the professor.” you exclaim, which makes her chuckle. you continue studying together until the sun goes down. you manage to reiterate a lot of the things that she explained to you in your own words and you feel a lot more confident in your understanding of the quiz topics.

“i know your quiz is on tuesday but i’m not sure if we can meet before then.” lia tells you as she packs up her stuff.

“oh, okay.” the disappointment is apparent in your voice, but she quickly continues.

“but, i made you this flashcard set and this practice quiz,” she hands you an index card box and a folder. “so you can go over them the rest of the weekend and we can maybe meet later next week?”

“are you this nice to all your students?”

“just my favorite ones.” she smiled back at you.

it had been two days since the quiz and almost a week since you last saw lia. you went to class this morning with your heart rapidly beating. your professor was supposed to return the quizzes today and even though you had been studying nonstop that weekend, you couldn’t push back the thought in the back of your mind that you completely bombed it.

the professor makes a round passing back the quizzes. when he gets to you, he smiles. “i take it lia helped you a lot.”

you nearly squealed when you saw your grade. you quickly snapped the piece of paper that read 8/10 and texted it to lia.

lia: omg! i’m so proud of you! lia: maybe we should go out for drinks tonight? lia: without the chemistry textbook

and just like that, 3rd year as a respiratory therapy student has come to an end (we're not considering the unfinished thesis for now).

pretty amazed with how i was able to juggle 6 days of school, 11 subjects (supposedly we only have 8, all majors), a case study, multiple reports and exams in a week sometimes and so on.

praying and scouting other unis at this time for cross enrollment so i could get done with my last 9 units for gen ed this summer to be eligible for internship this august and i also pray and hope that my tutor sessions with our adviser for the national convention's quiz bee won't cross over with the summer classes (context: as a transferee, i wasn't able to take the 9 units due to the difference in the curriculums)

for the meantime in my 2 week break, i'll be helping at home to pack to move, read/study here and there, watch all the shows and movies i'd like, get back on track with working out especially since my sprain's already barely there in just 3-4 days, spend more time with luna and actually abide with my fasting plan due to being hyperacidic for about 2 weeks !!

I saw on one of your quizzes it said to bug you here if we wanted to talk about saints. I'm not catholic (raised a different christian denomination->ive since escaped it thank fuck) and just by seeing some saint options to pick from on the quiz it raised questions abt the neighboring religion. Is Eve not a saint in catholic churches??? Like Adam and Eve??? Idk I always figured theyd be saints but I didnt see them listed and now I'm curious because I dont think ive ever seen them listed as saints anywhere at all really. Just stuff like mother Mary and angels like Michael and Gabriel/ ppl like Joan of arc etc.

Ps. also listing Marilyn Monroe and Ophelia as ppl you personally consider saints is absolutely girlboss of you and I mean that in the best way possible💜💜plz elaborate bc I am so ready to hear you out and I just know you have a good ass rant abt it I'm so curious lol

it does say to do that i love when people want to talk about saints... one of my favorite topics even...

anyway eve is NOT a saint. unfortunately in biblical terms her and adam kind of crucially fucked things up for everyone and sainthood really specifically has to go to a certain kind of person who is devout and significant and (only for modern canonization i think?) has to complete a certain number of miracles in order to be considered for canonization. eve and adam are definitely significant biblical figures but they are really just not eligible for sainthood by virtue of Not having been good believers in god. see also: trickstersaint poem "in which you are seven years old and trying to dislodge the chunk of apple in your throat".

imagining adam and eve as saints though... saints of falling for trickery... saints of caving to temptation... i think i have to sit down

ok so here's the thing. when i think of saints they are like. well. haters (other christian denominations) will say "false idols" but they are like stuffed animals within religion to me. supplementary figures. this is all irrelevant to the ophelia and marilyn monroe conversation in which the point is that they are figures that are mythical either by virtue of their origins or by the way that their stories have been mythologized and they have been adopted by people in a way that is more about the person who adopts them than about the figure themself. HOWEVER it is critical that they still maintain the thought of like. i Know this person. even as they are dehumanized. so. parasocial relationships on a societal level. which is why i included princess diana on that question as well because it's about the sheer level of fame and the way in which people adopt these figures as personal icons and idolize them especially in death. gerard way gets to be this to me because i am insane about them in a very specific way and i Do hold them in my heart for support and strength in the way that i hold saint sebastian or the virgin mary. see also: trickstersaint poem "ophelia".

LGC RETREAT

SCHEDULE TYPE: TRIMESTER ( PART 2 OUT OF 2 ) SCHEDULE RESTRICTIONS: cannot be paired with another trimester schedule, unless stated otherwise. for reference as to whether your muse is eligible for this event, please click over HERE.

it’s the next morning and all of the teams’ leaders are woken up early in the morning by the staff members. not knowing exactly what is going on, they are asked to follow them until all of them are gathered in one small room together. 

BREAKFAST QUIZ

with the cameras on them and PD BAE sitting across from them, he explains that they will be playing the BREAKFAST QUIZ game in which all of the leaders will have to wake up their team members with any means possible and tell them to follow the red arrows. the red arrows outside will lead them to the center point of all of their locations and PD BAE and the staff will be standing there.

all of the debuted artists will be asked to fall in line in front of a table where the box is. Inside the box are sheets of paper revealing tasks, games, and questions that the artist must complete. if they complete the task, they will be allowed to rest for a bit longer ( depending on how soon they complete it ) OR head to the breakfast hall. if the debuted artist DOES NOT complete the task and/or get the “DUD” paper, they will go back to the end of the line and keep going until the end of the three rounds and/or they finish the assigned task.

by the second round, "cheating" would be allowed in the form of letting any of the remaining players provide hints to each other. do note though that because this is still a competition, some of the players might give the wrong answer ( on purpose or not )! whoever passes by the end of the game will receive additional points for their team (which will be factored into the final scores).

once the leaders have woken up ALL of the members in their team, they will be told to head to the breakfast hall where they will be doing their game simultaneously as the debuted artists are completing the BREAKFAST QUIZ game.

LEMON TEA GAME ( LEADERS )

the leaders will be in a separate room inside the breakfast hall where they’re gathered to play a game, this time the winner of the round gets additional points and the first random pick as to which of the other leaders will be assigned to their group. they will all play the LEMON TEA game where each of the leaders will roll a 12 sided dice. the number that is shown at the top of the dice will be the number of ( half ) lemons the staff will be squeezing for their drink. then they will do the second round where they must pick a number between 1-6. for each number there’s a measurement tool corresponding to it and that item will be used to decide how much sugar will be poured onto their tea cup. the leaders will not know beforehand what those tools are and for every time one of the leaders has to pick, the numbers will be shuffled around to make sure that it’s completely random.

with a combination of those two, the rest of their tea cup will be filled with warm water and be handed a small plate filled with miniature desserts, cheese, and crackers of their choosing. the goal for each of the leaders is to drink their tea concoction and eat their food as quickly as possible. whoever finishes it first will be deemed the winner.

LEMON TEA GAME ( DEBUTED ARTISTS )

similarly, the rest of the artists will be doing the same task as the leaders this time they will be doing it in teams. after the BREAKFAST QUIZ is done and they’ve finished breakfast, they will be each asked to go to their team rooms ( eg. CRYSTALLIS ROOM, FABULA ROOM, LGC AGENCY ROOM, TYPE ZERO ROOM, and V&A ROOM ). inside the room, they are met with ONE of the leaders ( not their team leader but the leader ASSIGNED to them; for instance team CRYSTALLIS will be seeing OH EUNHYE inside their room ).

just like the above, each of the team members will be rolling a 12-sided dice to represent the number of ( half ) lemons that will be squeezed and poured into their tea drink. the team members will each be asked to pick a number between 1-6 and each number represents a tool that will be used to measure the amount of sugar used in their tea concoction. afterwards, the rest of their tea cup will be filled with warm water and have the option to choose from three medium sized plates of small desserts, crackers, and cheese that they can eat to go along with their drink. the goal for each of the team members is to drink their tea concoction and eat their food as quickly as possible. since this is a TEAM RELAY game, whichever team finishes their drink and food the fastest wins.

LEISURE TIME 

during this time, the debuted artists will be split into 3 groups of 16 people and this will be done by randomly picking colored sheets of paper from a box ( group A - blue / group B - red / group C - yellow ). all of the groups will be visiting three locations at different times; GOSU CAVE, MANCHEONHA SKYWALK, and DANYANG MARKET. for DANYANG MARKET, they will be having lunch there as they get to try out the different foods and delicacies available to the northern chungcheong province. depending on the location, they will be spending 1-3 hours in each of the areas so they will be back around 4 o’clock in the afternoon. this will be considered the groups’ leisure time to explore and have fun but as usual since this will be recorded, everyone is expected to be on their best behavior.

however, what the debuted artists don’t know is that while they are having fun, the rest of the staff members are preparing for one final game to end the show.

PROTECT YOUR ITEM

when all of the debuted artists and leaders return, they are told to go back to their original teams ( crystallis/fabula/lgc agency/type zero/v&a ) and head to their assigned rooms. each of the teams will be told that for the "final" game, they will be playing PROTECT YOUR ITEM; a game where each team is assigned an item and they will have to secretly complete their task associated with the item without the other teams knowing about it.

each team is assigned a specific item that they must protect and they are as follows:

CRYSTALLIS - ( GIANT ) JENGA PIECES

FABULA - DDKAJI ( FOLDED PAPER TILES )

LGC AGENCY - TOASTER & BREAD

TYPE ZERO - QUAIL EGGS

V&A - DOMINO PIECES

the goals of this game are to protect your item and complete the team challenge as quickly as possible.

LIVING ARRANGEMENTS

once the game has concluded and it’s night time, everyone will be having a buffet for dinner to celebrate everything they’ve done for the past two days. just like the previous day, people are called separately by the staff but instead of the LEADERS, it’s now the MAKNAES of each of the teams; YOON MINJAE ( TYPE ZERO ), MOON JINO ( CRYSTALLIS ), LEE MINJI ( FABULA ), HAN KEEHO ( V&A ), and BAEK SEONA ( LGC AGENCY ).

the five individuals play the infamous PIRATE BARREL game and some people are expecting to win the game in hopes of not staying in the same places as before but…

PD BAE tells them after finalizing the order that the deciding factor for the living arrangements isn’t on who survived last in the rounds ( aka the winner ), but rather who lost the quickest.

the rankings in the pirate barrel game are (first/winner who survived the longest > last/one who lost the quickest): TYPE ZERO > V&A > LGC AGENCY > CRYSTALLIS > FABULA

because of this, here are the final living arrangements:

FABULA: will be staying in a five star luxury inn and be receiving the best amenities available.

CRYSTALLIS: will be staying in a two story modern apartment building.

LGC AGENCY: will be staying in a hanok ( traditional korean house ).

V&A: will be staying in a haunted high school nearby. rumors has it that during december, sounds from past students of the high school can be heard in the hallways.

TYPE ZERO: will be staying in tents arranged by the staff. the tents are located in the middle of the woods, so actors and models, beware!

ENDING

the next morning all of the debuted artists will be heading back to the company and resume their normal activities and schedules! the final scores and results will not be revealed until LGC RETREAT officially airs the last episode ( where all of the debuted artists are invited to watch the show together to find out the results )!

WRITING REQUIREMENTS

LGC RETREAT DAY 2: write a 4 replies ( minimum 8 lines, 2 posts per mun ) thread with another debuted artist who you DID NOT thread with in the first part about anything related to the games ( breakfast quiz, lemon tea game, protect your item ) OR leisure time. you CANNOT do a thread relating to the living arrangements section ( pirate barrel game, dinner time, finding out their living arrangements ).

for the second component, there are two options that you can choose from, but you only have to do ONE of them:

OPTION A: write a 250+ word solo about your muse being interviewed about anything going on in part 2 ( minus the living arrangements portion ). questions that they might ask for this interview are the following: “out of all of the games that were played today, which one was your favorite?”, “did you have any memorable moments during leisure time? if so, can you explain a bit more about what made it memorable to you?”, “what is one thing that you would like to take away from this experience?” ( you can add more if you like )!

OPTION B: continue a previous thread from LGC RETREAT PART 1 with an additional 4 replies ( minimum 8 lines per post; 2 post per mun ) to the thread. the additional replies must be posted sometime between TODAY and the deadline.

** note about the lgc retreat threads: since there are a limited number of participants, please be mindful of the number of threads you take for this event, as you might block others from having partners if you take on more than one or two. in addition, this is encouraged to ensure that all of the muses participating have made an appearance on the show at least ONCE. **
