Elias Bouchard (no not Jonah Magnus, we separate the bastard in this house) was at least 26 when he died to Jonah Magnus.

In this essay I will explain how I came to that conclusion.

Elias Bouchard died in the year 1996. We know that for sure, so it's now all just a matter of backtracking his progress.

He spent 5 years working at the Institute before he was promoted to Head of the Institute.

1996 - 5 = 1991

In 1991 he started his career. If we want to assume that Jonah sent the invitation to Elias straight out of University. It takes about 3 or 4 years at Oxford to finish a Degree in PPE.

1991 - 3 = 1988

Typically, Uni is started at age 18 in the UK, and we are assuming he took no gap years.

1988 - 18 = 1970

We've now backtracked all the day to the year he was born. 1970. We will adjust for rounding errors in the final age as we are only making estimates. Now we need to subtract the year he died with the year he was born

1996 - 1970 = 26

Elias Bouchard, at the earliest, was 26 years old when he became the Head of the Magnus Archives Institute. Accounting for any gap years and Birthday being unknown. I put his age at 29 when he officially died.

The Magnus Archives hits different when you’re in different stages in life. Just had my first day as a teacher. I’m 27 and some of my students are OLDER than me. I lowkey relate more to Jon’s anxiety over his Head Archivist role, and his bitchy attitude that came from it, than I did back when the show started and I was in my first year of college.

Martin’s anxiety is also more relatable now but if my boss sees this I want to clarify that I did NOT lie on my CV to get this position yes I DO have a masters degree I know I’m young please don’t fire me.
