Manhattan was blighted for decades by elevated subway tracks running for miles along main thoroughfares. This is the Third Avenue El, or Bronx El, in midtown Manhattan, 1951, four years before it was torn down.

In this moment, everyone heard only the promise, but Mu Sichen heard the words that Qin Zhou could not say out loud. "I will protect all of you, so that no divine monster can harm any of you, including myself." Accompanying these words, all of Qin Zhou's emotions vanished. Even desire, even aspiration, even hope — silently, he obliterated them all. All that was left in his soul was that promise. From this moment, he became Him.

ok ok ok I'll admit I haven't read many books that regularly use 祂 ta (the divine third-person pronoun) so maybe this is me 少见多怪 but GENUINELY this was such a cool moment. I almost had to take a lap around the subway car because this was so well done

okay I really intended to draw something normal for my first drawings of Ingo and Emmet but. Something something. Uh. The Demons. 🫶 I hope y’all like bad cheesy AUs here‼️ you may have to futz with your brightness and do some zooming in to see…anything.

The rest of the comic is below the cut along with some extra drawings. I’ll rb with just the panels instead of the whole pages and close-ups of the text in the extra doodle page. Uhh…I think that’s it!

All is well! …as well as it can be. They have to stay “alive”, the subway depends on them.

I planned out so little of this AU. I just had a vague vision of a short comic for the Subway Masters and wanted to practice drawing some gore again in hopes that I can achieve the same skill levels as The Old Master (13 year old me)…and then Make A Terrible Comic Day 2024 rolled around and so I figured I’d just ball and do it…I think I may have gotten a little too invested in it for it to qualify but oh well, it’s good practice!

The idea was that (post-Ingo and maybe Emmet getting teleported across centuries and returning…please Nintendo-) a vampirism/zombie virus slowly starts going through Nimbasa. The Subway, being a bustling center of travel, gets hit perhaps the worst and the quickest. Ingo and Emmet get turned rather quickly and try to hide it. They grow very reclusive, lurking around the shadows and the dark tunnels. The depot agents are the only ones who’ve really heard from them since, but aren’t intent on helping authorities find them. The virus is supposed to have drastic effects on the mind, causing severe aggression and the like, but through some miracle, the brothers’ minds seem to stay in tact. It’s assumed it may have to do with lingering effects of the time travel.

They fr become a Phantom(s) of the Subway situation to outsiders and mad-scientist-locking-himself-away-in-his-study-as-he-falls-to-his-hubris situation to the depot agents. But mostly they’re okay! They keep the Subway running and try to stay healthy and prevent further decay of their minds!

also Elesa is here, Elesa is thrown off but doesn’t stop hanging out with them. She tries to help them where she can, and also keeps them in check when she can. She wants the best for them but hasn’t survived stardom this long by being gullible and naive.

These wheelchair accessible escalators are unique to Japan. 🧑‍🦼🧑‍🦽

Went downtown these past two days and something that really upset me about the subway announcements is that sometimes they’ll announce that there’s officers on the platform. Which the bad thing is the increased police presence sure but there’s one announcement that goes “there’s 150 accessible stations…” and basically telling ppl to plan accordingly then you get to certain stops and then they let you know the elevator is fucking broken or you exit the train and the escalator isn’t running.

There’s cops at every other fucking stop but not all of the stations are accessible or have functional accessibility accommodations???

IMP dynamics are so important to me like ... blitz has real tallest of the shorties energy, like! i don't know how to describe it but there's a specific kind of pride and protectiveness when you realize that out of your group of shorties, you're the tallest. YOU are the first line of defense against a Very Tall World and it makes you feel so needed. which honestly he already feels - like he takes pride in being Moxx & Millie's boss - watching them grow as assassins, fall in love, all their successes like yes, he could make that space for them. and he gets so happy when he can step in and take over for them / get them out of a bad situation / protect them because, obviously he's blitz so he needs to be needed, but it also just feels good. it feels right. that's his lil family right there and he'll kill and die for them, thanks.
