last book i finished: ohhhh man i'm not sure. i have a terrible, terrible habit of starting books and not finishing them. i THINK the last book i actually finished was a re-read of Venus in Furs by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch, and that was a while ago. Last book I started wassssssss either the Gottfried or Thomas of Britain version of the Tristan & Isolde romance (I kinda been bopping back and forth between them like an animal)...

last show i watched: slkfhalksd i think it was Yu-Gi-OH! VRAINS. i haven't had time to sit and watch a show in a while, either 😅

current obsession: the embarrassing obsession with disney's pocahontas is still ongoing. tbh, when you've gone out of your way to buy a laserdisc player because you needed to hear the commentary track found only on the 1996 special edition and nowhere else (bc you've scoured the internet for it and found NOTHING) there's probably no going back. incidentally, i think i'm gonna get into archiving media once i've made time to hunt down some more interesting laserdiscs to justify my impulse purchase with. (and if anyone wants a copy of that commentary track btw i made an mp3 of it all you gotta do is ask. just sayin'. just so you know.)

looking forward to: getting through this paralegal program so i can get a raise and maybe also upgrade apartments bc that would be Nice

When growing up feels like burning out

Hey so I want to recommend a fic called “When growing up feels like burning out.” It’s basically an Aaron centric about how he is asexual and how him and katelyn got together and includes a bit of the twinyards relationship. I love it and they way the characters are portrayed especially katelyn because she’s portrayed differently in this fic than others and it just makes sense. The authors tumbler is @figuringthengsout I can’t remember their Ao3 account tho. But I really recommend this fic!

Oh this is one of my favorite Aaron fics too! So much growth and depth to the characters, and a lot of honesty in the writing by @figuringthengsout. Thanks for the rec! -F

current obsession: honestly? Politics lol. I am compulsively reading the news and just checked out Confidence Man by Maggie Haberman and listening to podcasts!!!! But also, more pleasantly—im always always obsessed with interior design and homemaking and I’m obsessively finding holiday decorating ideas to freshen up my apartment for December! Like just always find me on Pinterest, pinning gingerbread man garlands, like Elon isn’t going to cut the department of education 😬

looking forward to: a few things—the holidays are my favorite time of year, going out to dinner with friends at a brand new restaurant on Thursday, restarting Latin lessons, and a trip to Utah in May!

WIP WEDNESDAY

I've spent the last week working on my supernatural WIP. Here's an excerpt from next chapter. It's technically Sunday atm but it's close enough 😅 For context this is set in 2001.

"How old's she now, nineteen? Give it a few more months and she'll be on the road. Probably with me and Dean," John says and guilt begins to set in at the thought of turning to John instead of my own father for support. Except the difference is that John doesn’t care if I die out there. "If you won't teach her the ropes I will, either that or she'll get herself killed trying to run away from this damn town."

Dad's voice is rough. "Over my dead body."

My mouth falls open and the three of us look at each other.

"Come on Bobby, she's a little rough around the edges but it's nothing that can't be straightened out," John says and suddenly I feel Dean's hand on my shoulder. Whether it's a protective gesture or to keep me in place, I don't know. "Besides, you've gotta know by now Sam's not gonna be the one she's running after. Chances are she'll be ending up in the backseat with Dean sooner than later if she hasn't already."

Sam has to muffle a cough while I bring a hand up to cover my mouth, and a second later I hear a drink being slammed onto the table. It's only when I feel Dean's hand tighten on my shoulder I dare to look at him, his eyes silently trying to assure me that it's gonna be alright despite both of us knowing what's about to go down.

Not that she has a boyfriend now. She has a Christian. He does not come with a label. She can’t handle it, and he says what they have transcends labels.

He bends her commitment issues in a sweetly delusional way.

Speaking of delusional, there’s been a fake redhead who has stalled Christian from coming back to their booth going on for seven minutes now.
