Glass Man (2006) by Ted Larson and Bob Allen, OLogic, CA, USA. Glass Man is the first real prototype of AMP, the "Automated Music Personality". The lower photo shows the prototype drivetrain for AMP, built at the same time.
"Hasbro thought that our balancing-robot idea could become a great consumer product, so they made the investment to start turning Flexo into something that could be sold as a toy. The first step was to get rid of the surplus parts and integrate consumer-grade components and motors. There were two robots made: One was a full 3D-printed prototype that was fragile as glass, and the other was just the drive system with our existing electronics mounted on it.
We broke both of these prototypes more times than I can remember. Every time it broke, I would call up Bob, and he would come over and we would figure out a clever way to glue it back together. After tons of trial and error we eventually had something that worked, and then it was time to make the real product. After a few trips to China and meeting some fantastic manufacturing experts, and a bunch more work on our part, we finally had the real product ready to go." – Ted Larson, From HomeBrew to Hasbro How two friends hacked a balancing robot and wrote a toy story of their own.

Kalynda Collins, 32 (USA 2017)
At the age of 32, Kalynda Collins suffered a horrific and preventable death, leaving two surviving children. She was killed by egregious malpractice and mistreatment by Cherry Hill Women’s Center Inc., an abortion facility in New Jersey. According to the court case, CHWC was not “capable or competent” in their response to the medical emergency that they created.
Kalynda entered the CHWC facility at 6:30 A.M. on September 2, 2017. She would not survive to noon.
It is important to note that Kalynda had a very well-documented history of allergies to iodine and latex. These allergies were noted in her medical records, were noted in her electronic chart, and Kalynda herself personally told staff at least three times while she was there. She took every action to protect herself from her allergies that she could have reasonably expected to need. The fault with what happened next lies with CHWC.
CHWC staff gave Kalynda consent forms that did not disclose critical information. The consent forms for insertion of dilators did not even tell her what type they were using. The type they planned to use were made of laminaria, a type of seaweed with a very high concentration of iodine. Not only was it reasonable knowledge that this would cause a reaction to someone allergic to iodine, but on multiple previous occasions CHWC had attempted to use laminaria on Kalynda and caused severe allergic reactions, which they failed to record in her chart multiple times.
During the pre-op examination (on the same day as the abortion), Kalynda told abortionist Richard M. Lieblich and multiple nurses about her allergies. Lieblich estimated that Kalynda was early enough in her pregnancy for the “one-day procedure” and not for the version that would take multiple days. This means that Kalynda was most likely in the first trimester, since an abortion later in pregnancy takes multiple days.
The “procedure team” allegedly reviewed Kalynda’s allergies again just before beginning the abortion procedure and noted her iodine allergy. What happened next was inexcusable.
At 9:09 A.M., Lieblich inserted no fewer than six laminaria dilators into Kalynda’s cervix. Even after she took every opportunity to remind staff of her life-threatening allergies, she now had half a dozen dilation rods containing high doses of her allergen inside her body. She was then given misoprostol (in an off-label regimen never approved by the manufacturer or the FDA) and told to go sit in the waiting area until they would carry out the surgical abortion. It took 15 minutes for anyone to even notice her allergic reaction.
At 9:25, Nurse Cruz was finally sent to check Kalynda for “complaints of a rapid heart rate.” Although Kalynda had been sitting down, she was tachycardic at 134 bpm. Although she was experiencing a life-threatening reaction, Kalynda amazingly still had the clarity to tell Nurse Cruz about her allergies again. Even then, nobody drew the connection between the dangerous reaction and the dilators inside her that she had reacted to in the past.
Instead of immediately calling an ambulance, staff brought Kalynda to the post-anesthesia care unit or PACU to be given an IV drip of Benadryl. However, they failed to remove the laminaria. Before the Benadryl or any other allergy medication could be used, Kalynda began vomiting and sweating heavily. She was now confused, disoriented and experiencing violent spasms. As the lawsuit states, “At this point it was clear that Ms. Collins was in the midst of an emergent, violent and severe anaphylaxis episode.”
CHWC had an existing transfer agreement with Kennedy University Hospital for clients who needed immediate medical attention, but did not initiate the emergency transfer protocol. Instead, they gave her an insufficient dose of Benadryl, a small amount of Zofran (an anti-emetic), and watched Kalynda suffer tachycardia and hypotension. She was still conscious as her vital signs dropped, and continued to tell staff in her confused and frightened state that she was suffering from itchiness, nausea and stomach pain.
At 9:31 A.M., Nurse Rodgers started IV fluids, placed a nasal cannula and moved a spasming and disoriented Kalynda into the Tredelenburg position with her feet elevated above her head. The lawsuit notes, “It appears that Nurse Rodgers was unaware of the widely circulated 2008 meta-study that found adverse consequences to the use of the Trendelenburg position and the recommendation that it be avoided.”
Nearly half an hour after Kalynda was given a high dose of her fatal allergens inserted through her cervix and vagina, a staff member finally called for her to be given epinephrine. Two minutes later, both Lieblich and Dr. Smith (the facility’s anesthesiologist) were at the bedside along with Nurse Lake, who saw Kalynda’s oxygen levels were decreasing, her blood pressure far too low, suffered from a dystonic reaction and in tachycardia.
A pelvic examination was done and the iodine-rich dilators finally removed, but only after fifteen minutes of full-blown anaphylaxis were the dilators identified as the source of the reaction and removed. Even then, the CHWC staff did not call 911 and continued their inadequate attempts to treat the dying woman who was struggling for oxygen.
An ambulance was finally called at 9:44 A.M., which was 35 minutes after dosing Kalynda with high concentrations of iodine, 19 minutes after going into anaphylaxis and 10 minutes after the first dose of epinephrine. All of these are inexcusable delays, especially for an emergency that was avoidable all along by simply not giving Kalynda her allergens. But even now, the negligence and incompetence continued to jeopardize her life.
The staff member who called 911 did not prioritize Kalynda’s ongoing medical emergency and instead told the paramedics to “come in the back door.” Apparently CHWC staff were more concerned over the idea that they might look bad than the risks that came with needlessly delaying Kalynda’s care.
Before the ambulance could arrive, Smith decided to attempt intubation now and administered 200 mg of Propofol to Kalynda. This dose, while suitable for a healthy person, would act as a vasodilator in someone whose blood pressure was already dangerously low, sealing her fate. If there was any hope that Kalynda might survive her ordeal, it was gone now.
Kalynda was also given a skeletal muscle relaxant and intubated, but any aid the intubation might have offered was more than canceled out by what was essentially an overdose of Propofol on a dying woman whose care had been delayed over and over again. EMS found her unconscious and unresponsive, with an oxygen saturation level of 85% and her cool, clammy skin an alarming color. They also noticed something else that CHWS failed to observe: Kalynda’s heart had stopped. Nobody had called a Code Blue or apparently even noticed.
EMS performed CPR and rushed Kalynda to the ER, but despite all efforts now being made to save her life, they were just too late and she was too far gone. At 10:53 A.M., Kalynda Collins was declared dead.
Before Kalynda’s death, Kennedy University Hospital staff called CHWS to learn what happened but were given inaccurate information. CHWS provided a misleading narrative with missing information, blamed Kalynda’s allergic reaction on misoprostol (which she was not allergic to) and failed to inform the hospital of the allergy to laminaria or the fact that this had happened before at the same facility in response to the same product.
After Kalynda died, it was discovered that her chart at CHWS specifically said she had previous allergic reactions to laminaria and to use different dilators instead. However, multiple previous reactions had not been noted and the existing notes had been thoroughly ignored.
Kalynda’s mother sued CHWS Inc. for the death of her healthy 32-year-old daughter, who left behind two children. The court found the facility and staff guilty of wrongful death, corporate negligence and dozens of aspects of medical negligence.
CHWS already had a history of lawsuits, ambulance visits and deficiencies found in health inspection. Their consent forms required clients to agree to the possibility of an ectopic pregnancy that would not be “terminated” by the abortion procedure even though there is no reason other than gross negligence for such an operation to be carried out on a client with an ectopic pregnancy. The condition should be easily diagnosed with a competent pre-op exam and ultrasound, and the client sent to an ER for timely care. They were also sued by a woman who underwent an abortion as a teenager without parental knowledge or consent and suffered PTSD and elevated risk of medical problems as a result. The lawsuit stated that CHWS did not inform her of these risks and that since the abortion she has needed $1,500 worth of additional screenings a year because of them. The case was settled out of court.

Well, we can’t confirm the world domination part, but…
And it seems there will be more space rockets (and robots?) built at that workshop:
From this week, Rocket Lab – who pioneered the use of carbon composites in space by developing the world’s first carbon composite orbital rocket – will lease SailGP Technologies’ 70,000 square foot development and manufacturing complex in Warkworth.
More than 50 SailGP Technologies New Zealand based team members will remain at the facility and join the Rocket Lab team, supporting a growing production rate for the Electron rocket and the rapid development of Neutron, Rocket Lab’s new 13,000 kg payload class rocket. As part of the transition, Rocket Lab will retain the facilities’ advanced manufacturing equipment including an autoclave, ovens, composite material cutting plotters, CNC metal machining equipment, and large-scale CNC composite machining equipment to support accelerated R&D and production.
Founded in 2001 as Core Builders Composites (CBC), the Warkworth facility has in recent years become heavily focussed on building and maintaining the cutting-edge F50 catamarans used in SailGP’s global racing league – one of the world’s fastest growing sport leagues – which accounts for around 80% of its work.
With 85% of SailGP events being staged in the northern hemisphere – growing from five to thirteen events since its inaugural season, the league will relocate its manufacturing facility to Southampton near SailGP’s global headquarters in London, England. SailGP Technologies will transition its operations to the South Coast of England from November this year, with the aim of being fully operational by April 2024.
#This wasn’t even a prediction it was a joke! Is every SailGP joke I made on Discord just gonna really happen now?#…even Peter Burling being an alien?#news#Link#Rocket Lab#space#SailGP

I'm not good at PSAs but here we go (edited):
The latest USA Bill, colloquially known as the TikTok Ban Bill [S. 686 : the RESTRICT Act] is beyond orwellian.
The official Congress page is [HERE]. You can read it yourself and watch for updates.
The bill as of this posting would (just to list off a few things):
make it legal to spy on all of your web communications (including private texts, those sent through any app, email, blog, etc.)
make it illegal to use a VPN to bypass bans, with punishments of 20 years jailtime and fines in the hundreds of thousands of dollars
make it illegal to speak to persons under the jurisdiction of "foreign adversaries" (so any non-americans on the Official Xenophobia List, which is subject to change at a moments notice, but already includes China, Korea, Venezuela, and Russia)
make it illegal to use appliances or electronic parts that were manufactured in the territories of "foreign adversaries" (so you all know those "Made in China" tags? that stuff could send you to jail now)
all of these rules would be overseen and enforced by a president-appointed Secretary of Communication, who would meet with their own chosen cabinet (minions) and make decisions behind closed doors without any notice or warning or input by voters/citizens
If I read even a fraction if this right, the bill rips apart online rights to privacy and free speech (as well as falsely equating free exchange of information and goods with literal treason). It
I'm not a fan of censorship on the best of days, but this is beyond horrifying.
