anyways im gonna talk about eldritch horror watcher pixlriffs now. because i love him.

so pixl wasnt always a watcher, was he? there must have been something before he watched. and maybe he still watched, but not officially. some sort of immortal, ineffable creature, similar to the crawling chaos if you like lovecraft, who will take on a form considered 'normal' to fit in. then the watchers found him and adopted him into their ranks, giving him another form: a more human one, draped in purple and copper finery, veils and wings and eyes, all biblically-accurate-angel vibes. which is pretty cool, if you ask pix. he meets zloy and lyarrah, two other watchers/a watcher and a listener, and the three team up to look over a select group: the hermits. but obviously, the three need to do more than just watch, since theyre not born watchers. and pix? he decides to join a small server, with people such as pearl, who was on evo smp with grian (another watcher), and then several people are whisked away to play third life, so the server (empires smp) is definitely a viable place for him to hide: theres already so much watcher magic, his wont make a huge difference!

but, people are always drawn to the powerful, and pixandria expands. pix knows that as far as the other emperors know, hes the only ruler of pixandria, while they all had ancestors in the world. memories spill over with pix there (the pufferish of peace) but still he tries to stay off the radar. and when he helps kill the dragon? he knows he Messed Up Bad.

so he runs, returning later, but he runs again as he doesnt want to see the destruction of the people he considers friends. pix knows theyre not dead, he knows theyll be back for season 2, but still. so he watches hermitcraft, voicing the recap, and occasionally wanders in empires to keep up with history.

so, s2 comes around, and pix wouldnt have noticed if he hadnt been wandering near spawn, and that pesky but helpful eldritch magic that draws people important to the Narrative to pix draws some of the reborn emperors to him. so he joins the circle, masquerading as an innocent archaeologist, and so what if he can See the past? technology is always advancing, after all.

its a mess when the hermits get there. pix reveals his knowledge, accidentally almost reveals gem, and with the other watcher, grian, there? pix was sure he was going to get berated by xisuma for his Watching hermitcraft. so when it turns out they already know, its such a relief. grian knows what its like not being a born watcher, and promises not to reveal anything to fwhip or the others. also, pearls there, and thats awkward because they Both Know They Know But Refuse To Acknowledge That. then he blows up grumbot, because hes very protective over his world. hes been living on empires for so long, hes laid a claim. the other watchers know not to touch it, and none but the most powerful eldritch gods would dare mess with pixlriffs.

then hes on hermitcraft, and its so weird because hes Not Meant To Be There! It keeps him on edge, and hes glad when he returns, even if he will miss the hermits. and eventually, esmp ends, and pix moves on to a new server to occupy his time.

(i havent watched whatever hes got going on after esmp s2. gotta get round to that at some point)

(also, he uses the survival guide so he can fit in with other players. its a guide so watchers can fit in with players, if they want)

My 3rd fic for Fic Fight! It's another Empires Season 2 horror fic, this time centred on Pix and Scott (but mostly Pix) as they deal with a curse inexplicably affecting them both, and trying to figure out what's happening and break it before it's too late. It's eldritch horror, so lots of creepy sculk horror creatures coming to life!

Summary:

What's supposed to be a normal ancient city raid for Pixlriffs, and a normal day running Chromia for Scott quickly turns south when an unexpected curse turns their lives upside down. Now shadows are creeping and sculk is coming to life, and inexplicable things start happening.

But the origin of the curse may be much closer to home than they initially thought, and empires of a time long gone may not be as far away as they should be, when the past comes back to haunt them both.

Also to elaborate on this, because they are a perfectly balanced team, the Recap squad can go full eldritch mode and combine themselves into a Voltron/fusion form. They are extremely powerful in this mode and usually use it for important things like insta-popping popcorn or reheating tea.

B) I have encountered the concept of Watcher!Pixlriffs in two different places at this point.

What I'm getting from Gem's lore is that she's one being, omnipresent. Where ever there is a Gem, she's the exact same Gem with the same memories.

Given that she sees everything she does as just "LARPing" in a world, I feel like she's playing a good "disaffected immortal looking for entertainment." She's a bit of an eldritch being, really. Especially when she's fine with gaslighting and girlbossing the people around her so as to not break her own immersion. The question is, does she think everyone else around her is ALSO LARPing, or does she know that they genuinely think themselves to be their characters?

Counter her to Pixlriffs, for example: While he seems more like an archetypal "Watcher" (both in the EVO sense and not) in that he Watches servers, transcribes their actions, and sometimes (like with Emp SMP) deigns to join in the fun. He knows the characters believe themselves to be characters, and plays along.

I'm headcanoning Hermit/Empires S2 Gem as a Eldritch Abomination who can take the form of a feminine humanoid base on Wizard Gem likeness, who just see life as a game to be played. Same for Pixlriffs, just basing his appearance on the Copper King.

Perhaps I am confused about something glaringly obvious (after all, I watched Grian's HCS9 episode 1 at 3 a.m after a loooong day of every other POV uploaded prior to his) but. Is the plan to fill the Entity with water?

Like, so far it's just the one boulder section. But from what Grian said this thing is going to keep growing, with new protrusions added onto the structure depending on whatever he decides to sell. Based on previous "expanding" builds (re: S6's precarious tower of villager-inspired houses, S7's mansion, & arguably the 100hrs build) the final Entity will be a towering heap of organic shapes in a mishmash of materials— Which, for a place for people to walk about in, is an absolute nightmare.

And this is Grian we're talking about! For all he's a fantastic builder, the guy cannot build a user-friendly interior to save his life, and personally I just can't see him putting in the carefully-planned floors and stairs and platforms required to navigate the interior of the Entity on foot. And it would be far too cramped (not to mention woefully inaccessible) to make Elytra the principal way of getting around the shop.

Hence, my thought (which may, once again, be the entire point and incredibly obvious): flood the inside of the Entity & have customers swim between the different sections, completely safe thanks to the conduit power. The conduit is right there already, it's perfect! There's even precedent for Grian using this technique in the Pickle Jar shop he built in early S6 (though the conduit power came from Xisuma's nearby shop iirc), so there's at least some basis to my ramblings. In terms of lore/story building it also feels wildly cool to have ppl enter the Entity & be greeted with this fluid-filled cavern they have to traverse, with moody underwater lighting through which they can barely make out rows of items for sale... Pixlriffs pointed out recently that the subtitle for conduits indicate they have a heartbeat ("conduit pulses"), which is terrifying and also completely in line with whatever eldritch nonsense Grian is doing with this build in the first place.

Overall I'm just so hyped to see what becomes of the Entity... & no matter which direction Grian decides to take it hermitblr is sure to push the horror and weird aspects to their illogical conclusion anyway, so yea. Please let me know if any of this makes the slightest amount of sense or if I'm spouting complete nonsense... If it does make sense & Apollo chucked the gift of prophecy ball at me yesternight, then uuuh Great Success!, as Iskall would say :D

idea for the eldritch dad pix au: sausage is an eldritch being that doesnt know its an eldritch being. with all the visions and glitches into other dimensions, hes definitely not a regular human (unlike lizzie). but he doesnt realise whats even wrong with him. but hes just an edlritch creature that d o e s n t k n o w. and pix knows. because pix knows all.

Bubbles is already canonically eldritch, what's to say Sausage can't be either?

His body is mortal. It's his mind that isn't. It keeps transferring to new realms each time it dies, recreating the same body over and over, and integrates itself into its new surroundings. But every time it does, it can't fully purge itself of the memories of its past.

So it keeps them locked away, and Sausage is nonethewiser.

But Pixl knows. He's unsure whether to step in, because this could have serious effects on Sausage. But at the same time, he's wary of interfering with the affairs of the timeline.

Summary:

False's life in the past few months has been one continuous, hellish nightmare. Being dropped off in a new and unfamiliar world, surrounded by people she doesn't know, with no memory of who she is or where she came from, has left her more paranoid than she's ever been. She has no idea what she's doing, or how she's ever going to get home.

But then comes Pixlriffs. The archaeologist is kind and generous, and begins the work of slowly breaking down the walls she's put up around her heart. But there's something... off about him. Quick moments where he doesn't seem quite... real, thinking she saw something horrific out of the corner of her eye, only to turn and see him standing there, random appearances at the most convenient of times, it's not big, but it's starting to add up.

There's something weird about her new friend. But what is it? And does it even matter?

i have a questin abt eldritch pix: are his features warped or a bit weird for a human bc hes an eldritch being?

There's nothing... visibly wrong with his face. He seems perfectly human from an outsider's perspective.

But there are moments that just don't seem right. The movement of his lips doesn't seem to quite line up with the words he's saying. Or his face seems a bit... unnaturally stiff, like a mask. Sometimes his eyes don't have any emotion in them at all, and sometimes they have too much.

He just... forgets how to human sometimes.

Have you thought of a role for Pixlriffs in the FaeU? I've been reading all the posts and asks and I don't think you've mentioned him (correct me if I'm wrong)

Pixl is a fae from the spring court, and a recordkeeper at that. He's one of the oldest fae in the entirety of the courts, he was there when they moved from the forest, and unlike Shrub, he was a young adult at the time. He remembers... a lot.

He kind of falls under the same category as Lizzie in that he appears mostly normal, like you wouldn't even be able to tell that he wasn't human if not for his pointed ears, but there is also something... deeply wrong about his appearance.

I'm going to push my eldritch god pixl agenda here too because I just think he deserves it.

He's basically adopted False, a paranoid human from a really bad home with memory issues. He is slowly working on unraveling her trauma and trying to help her create her own sense of identity without her shitty parents breathing down her neck.
