6. fic you’d recommend to someone new in the fandom?

hoo boy. i’m gonna rec A LOT OF STORIES so strap on in.

first up, 1d. would you like some tomlinshaw? we used to wait by @magicalrocketships or nothing is more fantastic, nothing is more tragic by alison are not super typical of that pairing, which tends to skew much more enemies to lovers, but they are very indicative of the stories that i like to read in that they are about two people supporting each other and being soft and lovely, and i love both stories very extremely much. nouis? to the end of the night by @niallspringsteen makes my heart beat faster just reading the title, holy shit i love that story so much. louis character study? you can feel it on the way home by @lil-elderflowerpresse or only look ahead by @hostagesfic. there are a lot of stories in this fandom that get better and richer when you know the players and characterizations really intimately, like new depths are revealed to you through dramatic irony, but i think these stories are also just so fucking good on their own. i wanna list like ten thousand more, but i would never stop.

now, bucky-centric mcu. i think this, you protect by @vmohlere is a great introduction to the depths of bucky’s trauma, and it’s funny and distinctive and so rewarding and satisfying and completely unlike anything else i’ve read. some other great, GREAT bucky character studies are when push comes to chevre by @copperbadge and out of the strong comes sweetness by @bert-and-ernie-are-gay. they both focus on bucky’s time in wakanda, which is honestly what all fics should focus on tbh, and they allow him so much space to grow and heal and enrich himself with hard work and good friends and community, and it’s what he deserves.

my favorite mcu pairing is WINTERHAWK. everything by @captn-sara-holmes is just brilliant and insightful and perfect, but i would say start with clint barton’s super secret snipers’ club and then maybe the other man out of time, though you truly can’t go wrong with any of them. if you read her stories, she will make you a believer, it’s just science.

15. what’s a fic that made you ship something you previously did not?

in terms of fics that i’ve read: lol boy was i annoyed when i asked for mcu fic recs and @nothanksweregood had the DANG AUDACITY to rec me a story about CLINT. i specifically asked for bucky-centric stories, and instead she gave me leader of the free world by @copperbadge, because apparently she knew what i needed even more than i did. now i love clint very much, he’s six parts human disaster and seven parts coffee and he needs to be loved. and now i am winterhawk trash, it’s so bad. i will also say that on a very different end of the spectrum, not easily conquered by @whatarefears and @drop-deaddream changed the way i thought about stucky. shit, what a good fucking story. i saw that pairing so differently after that story. it captures an epic inevitability to them that i think is so obvious but also so hard to pull off this tenderly and truthfully.

in terms of fics that i’ve written: apparently tonight make me unstoppable made several of us start shipping something that we had no intention of ever caring about lol. lucky are my boys and i love them. and writing girl crush made me ship hamille, which i had no intention of actually doing.

1. Are you named after anyone? my mom really like Sabrina (1995) w/ harrison ford & julia ormond when she was pregnant with me. i’ve never seen it, but i have seen the og w/ audrey.

2. When was the last time you cried? i feel like i last properly cried when i was reading this fic because there’s a scene on a ferry with quiet words and rain and damn if that doesn’t check every box for me 

3. Do you have kids? no thank you. but i was a camp counsellor once & there was this one cool kid who had like blue hair & was so kind & rad. she drew a picture of us and in it I have claws and cat ears. so that’s hanging up in my bedroom for the rest of eternity.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot? not really? i dont have the patience for people misconstruing sarcasm. i would rather just call u a dumbo to your face.

5. What’s the first thing you notice about people? honestly whether or not they laugh at my jokes. i am joking in person 87% of the time. it’s exhausting. so ppl fall into 3 groups: 1. they laughed at my joke. they r obv cool. 2. they didn’t laugh at my joke. they obv suck. 3. they didn’t laugh at my joke BUT they seem cool/hot and now it has become my MISSION to make them laugh at my joke.

6. What’s your eye color? blue basically.

7. Scary movie or happy ending? u know how love, simon ends? that how everything should end. ferris wheels. kisses. the bleachers on in the bg. 

8. Any special talents? is being able to crochet/knit consistently for a month and then dropping it for 3 months a special talent? bc then yes. 

9. Where were you born? like most people “from toronto” i was born in mississauga and grew up in brampton.

10. What are your hobbies? i read fics all day long and then stare at my bookshelf for awhile. i write things that will never be finished. i watch hockey too much. i listen to mcelroy podcasts & sometimes others if i have the patience.  i recently bought a keyboard because i want to play piano again. 

11. Do you have any pets? i have a monster named tachou who is a little cat. usually he is yelling up a storm. right now he is asleep on my foot. (edit: at the time of posting he is running from one end of my apartment to the other)

12. What sports do you play/have you played? in middle school i was on the flag football team. i was the quarterback. we won a single game the entire season. i was also on the floor hockey team because no one else at tryout was willing to be a goalie.  in other words, i have not exercised since i was 13.

13. How tall are you? i am five foot eleven inches. i feel bad for people who stand behind me at concerts (jk i dont give a shit)

14. Favorite subject in school? history. specifically russian.

15. Dream job? once, on a red carpet, there was a woman whose job it was to lint roll the lint off harry styles’ suit. i’d like to be her. or like, a human rights lawyer.
