I’d have to go back and listen in the other books to be sure, but I’m pretty sure Rosamund changed Elaida’s voice between her the Great Hunt narration and the Dragon Reborn

And considering it’s the only voice that seems to have changed I’m assuming it’s probably for casting reasons

UPDATE: So right before the weekend a wonderful person (they are not online, and I do not know if they are okay with me tagging them) managed to convert a epub file of New Spring into a PDF!!! I now have New Spring and can now deliver the fic as promised (mentioned in linked post above)! I will re-read NS and start on the fic, I will let all y'all know more when I have another update!

So, bad news, I cannot find a free ebook copy of New Spring following a conversation on this post so if somebody has a website or a pdf of it, dm me please! As long as I do not have to download anything and it doesn't give me a virus.

It’s so funny that if you were to start to the series with New Spring (don’t do that btw) this is your introduction to Elaida:

Yeah the number of strong women, both villains and protagonists, who are enslaved and humiliated in the story is…definitely noticeable

The further I get in the re-read the more the whole Morgase storyline becomes one of my least favourite.

I fundamentally find the whole thing frustrating because so much of the conflict comes from people not having all the information. Like… people think morgase is dead when she’s not, other people don’t know Gabriel was Rahvin so blame morgase for the crap he did, people think Rand killed her when he didn’t, people don’t know that Rand doesn’t want to rule Caemlyn and is just trying his best to hold it for the rightful heir….

Like, what if Rand had issued a proclamation stating that Gabriel was Rahvin and that he had been using compulsion on the queen and she was not responsible for the atrocious decisions made since he showed up and explained that he killed Ravin to avenge her presumed death? Morgase could’ve come back and reclaimed the throne and we wouldn’t have to deal with the weird Talinvore “romance” and the gross King what’s his face and white cloak stuff. And maybe gawyn wouldn’t be Such an irritating idiot… well… maybe.

Idk the whole thing just annoys me.

Don’t think they’re merging Liandrin with Elaida- Alviarin or Galina seems more likely. If we don’t get Elaida do Avriny a’Roihan, I will be upset. I don’t like her but she’s a fun antagonist and shows that not everybody who’s antagonistic is a darkfriend.
